Ive read about others having the same problem I have.
My power button acts like if it was being randomly pressed from time to time. Sometime it does it really often like every second.
And it doesn't work if I press it
It's just like if it was randomly pressed when I don't touch it, making my phone pretty much unusable.
I'm fairly sure it's hardware related cause if I turn my phone off, it will power on by itself in a few seconds.
Any solution?

Not sure this is a known issue or just me. But often if I power down the phone will not power back on unless I take the battery out for like a min, then put it back in. I've noticed this running both stock and custom roms.
I've noticed this too, but it never requires a battery pull. I will power down my phone and try to power it on but it does nothing. I have to wait a minute or so to power on. Unrooted. Who knows
When it does this, hold the volume up for 30 seconds, let go, then press the power button and release. Works every time for me... but I haven't had this problem lately *knock on wood*

Interesting, will give it a shot.
That happens to mine quite a bit too, but if i let it sit for about 30 seconds or so it will reboot. I'm talking about when i shut the phone off then immediately try to reboot it, so i think it boils down to the phone completely shutting down for a little bit after the screen turns off. Maybe i'm misunderstanding what you're saying here, but i don't think it's just your phone.

Hi all,
does anyone sometimes have to press the power button (when phone is completely turned off) twice (2 presses to turn on) sometimes?...
so just to confirm
- handset is off
- push power button once (sometimes doesnt come on
- push for second time (and powers up)
im defiantly pushing for long enough
iv have no issues with the button at all when in the UI or when locking/unlocking display
iv done a few tests where i have turned off. then went to switch on, with the same pressure and sometimes it starts with one, sometimes it starts with two presses,
do u think this is a fault? anyone experience this? normal?
just checking...
thanks heaps!
I had the opposite on my first one. When I pressed the power button to turn screen off, the screen went black for 1 sec and jumped back on lock screen.

I don't think many people would turn their phone completely off so haven't found the issue.
When you power off what will be happening is the phone is off as much as it can be, but these buttons are soft off, the battery is still connected and some power must be drawn to run the power circuitry to detect the button being pressed again to signal to power back up the phone, in the same way when you turn your TV off by the remote, power is still drawn to run the remote sensor on the TV.
To keep the drain on the battery as low as possible so the battery isn't completely discharged over months of storage I suspect the power chip waiting for the on signal again is only sampling every so often to save power so it can be in super deep sleep state. This means depending on where in this cycle you are when you press the power button it might seem like it isn't responding, so typically you have to leave it depressed long enough for it to be "seen".
The better option is to just to put your phone into flight mode if you don't want to be disturbed or want the phone off. I do this overnight and lose no battery power by the morning, so it is as good as off. You can add a button to your home screen to do this quickly, widgets are included already for that.
Regards
Phil
Mine does the same thing.. Sometimes it does it with waking up from sleep also.

MY galaxy s2 has problems with powering off every now and then. it was really bad at one point where all it was doing is turning on and rebooting right after. i had a custom rom for months and never had problems until yesterday. i couldnt go on recovery mode because it would always restart every five seconds. Now it seems to less frequent because i realized that it always reboots when i touch the power button once. Sometimes when i push the power button to take it off sleep mode, the power options pops up (recovery, restart, power off etc) so thats when i thought the power button might be the problem
Any guesses on what could be the problem?? If its software problems or power button issue.
P.S. reset my phone, re rooted it, and put a new rom darkside. It literally stays on until i push the power button. then it restarts five seconds later.
the power buttons seems to stick....I have the same problem, the phone is acting as if the power button is being pressed without being let go. When the power button is held indefinitely it just keeps rebooting over and over again. It occurs sporadically, but once it sticks..it sticks. I seem to be able to unstick it by slapping it against my hand but eventually it turns off. Its definitely a hardware issue and I will open up the phone right now to investigate. Ill write if I find anything useful.

So i know people are saying these new roms can cause RR. Ive tried multiple roms, and these "rr"s are way to frequent to be called Random Reboots. I mean they happen back to back, within seconds/minutes. They also only happen when i press my power button, which is starting to make me think that my power button is getting stuck or jammed which is causing it to reboot so many time and almost all the time. Like i can press the power button to unlock or lock the phone and bam it reboots my phone. I hold the power button down to start it back up and it does a RR once again. Is it my phone just being messed up or is this really random reboots? Thanks in advance.

RR the vast majority of the time, happen on JB ROMS. But,the way you describe them is not how they happen. Happening back to back sounds more like a faulty power button. Try seeing if it has dirt. If not, time for a warranty exchange, issuance claim. or a power button repair. Mobiletech offers that service.
Its weird cause my phone will be good for a whole week straight, and bam for a couple days straight **** is just acting up. Like these past few days, the reboots is unrealistic. I barely get to use the phone i feel like. It turns off and vibrates until i hold the power button to turn it back on, and sometime when it says samsung and then goes to the next boot animation, it will do a whole spazzim and just vibrate again until i hold the power button again. I dont understand.

Your problem sounds like a hardware problem.
Hello forum,
I'm considering the One+3 as a substitute for my Galaxy Nexus device. Most of the reviews conclude that One+3 is a decent candidate for my needs (even though I'd miss FM radio as I did in Galaxy Nexus). There's one thing that worries me a bit. My Galaxy Nexus does become unresponsive (i.e. even not responding to power off button being pressed for many secs) from time to time and the only way to restart it is removing the battery. I'd guess that One+3/Android6 would suffer less from this kind of odd behavior but, hei!, there's no perfect hardware/software out there. So my question is, has the One+3 a way to do a hard reboot of the phone even if it does not answer to a long press on the power button?
Thank you
If it doesn't respond to a long press of the power button then you're out of luck. It does respond to a long press though. I've never in my 5+ years of android usage and troubleshooting seen a device that won't restart after a while (it can take up to a minute though).
Maybe pressing one minute the power button seemed to me a long time after being a bit mad with the device and I preferred removing temporarily the battery
Still, from your answer, I guess there's not button / way to do this hard reboot.
Thanks.
If everything else fails you just pop off the back and disconnect the battery lead...
