OK, while we wait for custom roms with full debloat, what can we do for ourselves now you have a device that is rooted.
I'd suggest a file manager that can explore root, such as Root Explorer. Get one and give it SU status.
Next download and install Adfree run it and install a new hosts file to get rid of ads etc.
After that, disable apps under Settings/General/ Application Manager, by clearing cache, clearing data, force stop and disable.
Now on to /system/apps to remove the bloat.
Except here's where I need help.
Which apps after you've disabled them can now be deleted from /system/apps. They don't necessarily have the same names that appear in Apps Manager in Settings/General/ Application Manager.
And what's safe to delete and what's not.
For instance
I want rid of Google Plus, Hang outs. Facebook, All Samsung bloatware except maybe touchwiz and magazine inferface and IR apps.
How do I do this safely.
How do I remove most of the bloat ware while still leaving the essentials?

I would recommend using Titanium Backup to "freeze" unwanted system apps. Most everything Samsung can be safely frozen. When you freeze an app, you're not uninstalling it, just disabling it. If you freeze something that causes unwanted results, simply unfreeze to return to full function.

BUT, I'm looking to remove the excess bloatware solely so I can free up RAM.

Frozen apps do not use RAM.
You're right.
I meant storage space. I want to free the storage space the bloatware fills up. For that you need to remove the app from /system/apps
Is adfree better than adblock?

Adblock kept crashing on my devices, I changed to adaway and that seems to be doing better.

Backup in titanium backup to your external sdcard then delete the program.

There's also "Bloat Freezer" app. Sole purpose is obviously ...freezing apps. Friendly interface too. Well, its free now too because Google yanked paid version

I deleted them too.
I also deleted the sprint tv, ID, sprint zone. I also deleted the ap mobile app since I don't use it. I also back them up on my dropbox and my external sd card. I used titanium backup.
Any help here would be appreciated. This happened twice with google maps and once with facebook. Instead of integrating, apps are being removed from phone.
I am on stangs rom the latest official deodexed gingerbread rom...never had this problem before.
Are you restoring data+apps? And if so what Rom did u back them up with?

Nah. When I install a new rom (like this one for instance) I only restore user apps and data. I leave all the internal apps alone.
Soo after getting updates for internal apps (like Gmail/Maps/Facebook) I use the intergrate button and then **poof** the apps are removed. Icon still shows up under system/apps in Root Explorer but the app and icon don't show up anymore on phone.
So what do you guys recommend? Should I just do this manually in Root Explorer? How can I integrate on my own to save some space?
Just wanted to bump. I know I can do this the reverse way while rooted. I guess by removing the app and reinstalling again but anyone else have any ideas?

How much free space is is /system? TB may fail on moving if there is not enough space free.

Hmmm I bet you are on to something. Only about 3-4 mb free. Even though I can free up about another 40 mb by deleting an app.disabled folder I created. Thanks man I bet this is why.
I am just not sure should I clear the app data before uninstalling an app or not.

It still leaves all the folders where is files from the app, maybe from /sdcard/dtata/ folder is the app files deleted then..
try to find the answer from google.
Usually it does. Try it for yourself. Install Angry Birds, play a few levels and deinstall. You will lose all your progress.
The problem are those programs, that download additional data after installing from the market. Sometimes that doesn't get cleared. Also some folders don't get deleted when deinstalled.
It's just dirty programming, as actually it should all get removed when deinstalling. If you want to keep your app or gaming data, use titanium and keep a backup, just to be on the safe side.

App data and cache is deleted. But any folders/files the app makes in your storage directory will not be removed.

Right, and the data in your storage directory will not be deleted when you delete the app data manually. So if you want to get everything, just delete the app without deleting app data, but then you will need to find and delete manually anything in your storage dir.
if I root and use titanium backup to uninstall apps like Email, Snote and such, can I recover them by doing a full system reset? or are they gone forever unless I back them up?

I recommend you to "freeze" these applications and then catch the bugs, because some applications are essential for the tablet... And yes, they gone forever, back them up.

i wanted to ask you , now that i want to remove the unneeded samsung bloatware , is all i need to do is to root the device, and then just go app by app and remove it? does the rooting remove the protection on removing these apps?

Titanium is what I would recommend as well (after root). You can try freezing the unwanted apps first, to make sure it doesn't adversely affect anything else. Then when you are convinced the apps are okay to remove, uninstall using Titanium.
