I'm running the latest version of Clockworkmod which looks like it is most likely my problem for constant force closes on all my apps but i'm wondering if i can downgrade clockworkmod version to fix this if rom manager and all my other apps keep force closing? Any suggestions would be VERY appreciated. Sorry if this is posted somewhere else also I tried a search but didn't see any solutions.
I think you and I might have the same problem going on. All of my apps are force closing, but I am not sure if mine has to do with clock work mod or not. I still have not found a solution to my problem.
This may seem obvious to you and I apologize if it does but, did you wipe data and cache prior to flashing MIUI? I was running it recently without any issues at all. And I keep the latest version of CWM. It's an excellent rom. Smooth as butter.
Edit: I was running MIUI 1.2.19 with invisiblek, #28, by the way.

There is some speculation that CWM3 isn't wiping as well as CWM2 did... I can certainly confirm that it does not seem to clean everything out for a new MIUI install. On MIUI forums you can find a script to wipe everything first, or you can just open the "mounts" section and manually format /boot and /system. This seems to do the trick.

I can't say I've had any issues, personally but, I've definitely seen several comments about this around the forums. I plan on flashing back to MIUI soon. Just to be safe, I'll be looking for that script before I do it. Thanks for the heads up.

The way I solved my mass force close issue was to do a factory reset and then flash the rom I wanted. Maybe that will solve your problem also?
I ended up just uninstalling and reinstalling an app a couple times and it started working just fine, another question though. What's the best version of miui? And also what are the miui ports for? New to this Rom but its pretty seemless

Alright so this is odd, just updated to 1.1.28.1 version and none of my apps whether from the market or SD card will work on the first install, I must uninstall then reinstall for them to work. Anyone else have this going on? I guess its not a HUGE deal but still just weird

It seems likely that cwr 3 is a pos that is causing all these issues. I have started manually wiping everything needed to be wiped in mounts and my problems went away. Another alternative is to go back to cwr 2.5

MIUI Ports are the current versions of MIUI. The person who was creating the Inc builds used to be NIX, but when he passed the torch to Warttack, they needed to call it something different in ROM Manager (different packager, different section I guess). So basically, you should always be using the latest in MIUI Ports.
Everything is force closing on my nook color cm7 SD card. I am not much of a techie...any help would be appreciated. thank you.
Try fix permissions in ROM manager. You should post this in the nook color forum though.

Are the current ICS ROMS the "ICS Ports" we were all so desperately hoping for before ICS actually came out? Or are we expecting the "OFFICIAL" one from some other party?
Will CM9 be the official ICS port? Are we even getting CM9?
Side question:
If I am on ILWT and flashing to ICS, of course it is best to wipe.
But if I am on ICS and want to restore to ILWT, do I also wipe?
Thx in advance for putting up with my annoyance!

First one: Yes.
Second one: Of course!
I will wait for official CM9 with (hopefully) camera support.
We will see an official CM9 release, I'm pretty positive.

i do wipe when i flash a new rom but when i restore(via clockworkmod) i dont wipe anything and so restore always works without problems..
if you're doing a cwm restore, you dont need to wipe. restoring pretty much wipes all the information and overlays the older stuff.
on the other hand, it's always good to clear out cache though.

And regular probably, neither will ever cause problems if you do wipe but might if you don't. Only side effect ever of wiping both is longer boot right after
First of all we will get a CM9 update (WITH CAMERA SUPPORT) and two you can restore any backed uo rom through clockworkmod recovery without wiping (it basically wipes and overrites the current rom to ur backup rom)

I just have to add that building a rom from source is the same thing companies like HTC are doing. Granted they have access to all of the proprietary hardware the public doesn't. That being said none are more "official" then any other. I love CM but they are by no means an official rom and all other are ports. Its true that MANY roms are based off CM, but not all.

Saw a developer guessing the CM guys would be able to release CM9 for Desire Z (hopefully with camera working) in february. No official statements about this, though.
I've got my evo rooted, or at least I'm pretty sure I do.
It's currently on 2.3.3, with an H-boot version of 6.16.1002, the software version is 4.24.651.1, and CWM revolutionary 4.0.1.4.
I'm looking to flash a new rom that is very well functioning. I'm just wondering if I've got everything done right so far, and if there is an official version of Cyanogen out (I'm leery about nightlies), and how well it works. The only other rom I've seen that I'm really interested in is this
So have I got everything rooted properly, before I flash are there any thing I need to avoid, and precautions I need to take?

Cyanogenmod has stable releases at http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=supersonic&type=RC
I would always do a backup in recovery just in case...other than that you should be good to go.
Thanks, I found the latest stable release.
I've done my fair share of flashing on my Droid X, but just to make sure I don't wake up to bootloops for breakfast, what are the recommended install instructions for CM?
Also, does CM include a custom kernel, and do you recommend the latest stable, or the latest RC?
Wipe data 3x
Wipe cache 3x
Wipe dalvik 3x
Flash CM
Flash gapps?
(I don't remember if you need to flash gapps with CM)
Not sure if doing each 3x is really needed but that is how I was taught and have never had issues thus far, unless it was a specific rom related issue.
As for kernel since CM is AOSP, I would say it is custom since you can not use a sense kernel on an AOSP rom.
Hope this helps!

If you are on stock sense...factory reset
So don't wipe the system, but wipe the data. (factory reset)
Does anyone know if I need gapps, and which one I'd need?
Also, should I use the latest RC, or the latest stable?

I've run into a very odd roadblock...
TiBu keeps freezing before i can even do anything. I've tried reinstalling, using an older version, and fixing permissions, and its still happening the moment I touch the screen.
This isn't too big of a problem as long as I can restore all my apps (including the numerous ones on the sd card) through my CWR backup... is this possible?
I think a lot of my issues I've been having are because I took an OTA update after rooting...
Ummm, yea. The 2 do not mix. Either keep it rooted and no OTAs, or keep it stock with OTA updates (if you choose them).

Well, I don't know if this is how I'm supposed to go about doing this, but I've been having issues recently with Quantum rom, and was planning on posting them in the actual Quantum thread, but I need 10 posts to do that because 10 posts mean something important.
Anyways, Ive been fine previously just doing
1. Wipe Dalvik, cache, and system,
2. flashing rom and gapps
3. the wipe option you get after you flash (TWRP)
Ive been doing that since i started basically, until 1.9. Anything after 1.9, it either constantly crashes, has processes constantly stopping, or on one of the versions (2.1 i think) the screen would constantly flicker (which someone else mentioned happening in the thread). So i figured I should try a clean flash, so I try wiping everything and flashing, and doing the default factory reset option and flashing, neither of which helped. In fact, after doing the clean flash it made 1.9 stop working too, so I had to restore my 1.9 backup to get it working again.
Anywho, if anyone has any advice that could help me get the newer versions working that would be great, Thanks!
EDIT: I might try flashing a different rom, to see if the issues persist elsewhere, but firstly Id like to stay on Quantum, and secondly, iirc I tried one a different rom when 4.3 first started showing up in roms, and I kept having problems, to which I just went back to Quantum.
It sounds to me you have a bad download. Have you tried re-downloading the ROM? I run the Quantum ROM and I have had no issues whatsoever.
I'm also looking forward to your reply about flashing another ROM.

Well, I've tried flashing every version including and after 2.0, up to the current version, and have the same problems for each one. So i somewhat doubt that that's the problem. Ill probably try to flash somethign else some time tomorrow

Could be your recovery too. I believe the Quantum ROM developer recommends CWM than TWRP.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
If you do decide to change to CWM, make sure you revert to your TouchWiz backup first since TWRP and CWM backups aren't compatible. My best recommendation is to re-download the newest version (2.35 as of 11/7/13), and wipe data/factory reset, wipe /cache, wipe system, wipe dalvik cache, then install ROM and Gapps, wipe cache and dalvik again, and reboot.
iirc, i noticed a fair enough number of people on TWRP that I would prefer to stay on it (since it *should* work). I did, however just update it, tried again. For 2.31, i just get constant for closes on phone and SystemUI, and others iirc. Im trying carbonRom right now, and its working perfectly fine.
EDIT: I did get one SystemUI force close, on it, but its literally constant on quantum sadly.
also tried a couple random other roms, all work, but no Quantum rom will work after 1.9. I also tried just flashing it and not gapps, and i end up with the same thing. Now its just constant force closes though. I don't think i remember seeing any flickery screens like i was getting around 2.1X i think it was.
What bootloader and firmware are you using with the later quantum ROMs.... I believe that the more recent ones need the dmg2 or emj2 boot and firmware to run properly.... Also what were your settings in trickster did you disable mp-dec and UV... Were you OC using stock quantum kernel etc.

I think that the leaked 4.3 bootloader (whatever end code they gave it) isn't necessary yet, since it hasn't been officially released by AT&T. I'm personally holding off on flashing any 4.4 rom until they're a bit more mature and don't have as many hiccups (although pwncake's work is superb). The UV depends on your device and how it handles it, usually, mine needs +25 than stock but it doesn't seem to shorten battery life. All throughout 4.3, it was best to keep MP-Decision off since he built one into the rom. In the case of 4.4, IIRC from Quantum v3 beta3 and forward, he removed his own MP- Decision, so you could keep it switched on.

I just flash the ROM and boot. If I should be flashing a seperate firmware slash bootloader, I'm not (and never have to my knowledge). I couldnt have gotten to the trickster settings if i wanted to due to the constant force closes.
Would anyone know why when I enable ART mode on Quantum 4.4 Beta3 Rom, my phone continually has pop up messages with unexpected errors? -Such as calendar storage issues or the google keyboard(This should probably be in the ROM section but I can't write there.)

Can't run Quantum either. Same boat. I think it's an issue with the Core kernel and Rev0 processors.

I tried flashing the new beta 8 of v3, and it worked with the odd restart and FC on the side. But the restarts were starting to get a bit annoying so I tried reflashing, and now I just get infinite boot animations no matter what I do. And if I try to restore my nandroid backup, there's this flash every 2 or 3 seconds around the boot animation. Sigh
EDIT: actually, completely reflashing works, but still ends up with the random reboots when doing random things

sorry to hear of your problems. it is not the rom. enough folks are running it and I have had flawless installs. Read the OP and follow the directions, it works.
there is a new TWRP (from their site) that I downloaded as a .tar file and flashed with odin. flashes 4.4 roms now so you might try that rout.
my suggestion, in its limited knowledge is this:
put the rom, superuser, and the gapps on your SD card.
Reboot into the new TWRP and format the system- your phone is now blank.
install rom zip
install superuser zip
reboot.
first boot may take a bit, but not forever. Set up CM stuff and go from there

search the quantum thread about google settings. you have to turn on google now and disable notifications. also, I've been using the swift keyboard and don't have to deal with the google or android keyboard. that seems to have helped.
enable art after loading apps and be prepared for a wait for android to upgrade.
A couple apps on my cm11 will work for so long or will work till I press certain buttons then they stop responding anyone have an idea why? Thank you
Which version of Gapps did you flash? I stick with the minimal version of Gapps.
Also my phone will just turn off or reboot out of nowhere for no reason
The gapps is 20131103 I think it night have been the 2014
Are you using the latest nightly or stable CM11? Have you tried AOPS-based custom ROMs to see if the same thing happens? Which CM11 apps stop responding?
Showbiz and YouTube haven't seen anything else and idk how to flash other ROMs. I'm suprized at myself that I even got this one one What is a aosp rom
AOSP (Android Open SourceProject). Custom ROMs tend to be based off CM or AOSP.
You could try something like Liquidsmooth which is a very nice ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49905722#post49905722 http://www.drdevs.com/devs/teamliquid/Nightly/S3_Unified/

Yes. To be safe, you should wipe cache, Dalvik, and data before switching ROMs.
If you are still getting random reboots, turn off and remove and replace the battery. If it turns on by itself you probably have a bad power switch.
Too many random reboots can cause data corruption too, which could be a potential explanation for the app problems you mentioned.
