yes its a good looking phone but it hangs and lags on playing games like temple run 2 .facebook also force quits some times. i think a clean custom can do better than stock, but i heard that samsung are strick with warranty on rooting and flashing, due to this i haven't rooted it since 4 months it bought it

Is it possible? i beieve the personal data partition which is 127 Mb takes place in the physical ram and it causes that we have only 300 and something Mb of ram for users.. since it s mostly taken by android apps users have about 120-150 mb of ram.. even galaxy tab with froyo has 444Mb.. so i thoght that 127 Mb part could maybe be created in sd card instead of ram.. it would be slower of course but with ext4 convertion this slowness could be ignored with the huge amount of free ram in my guess..
so is there a way to do that? or is there any unlogical part? because i really want to know why i cant use my whole ram for user (after switching to touchwiz 4and filling the screens with widgets the phone got really slower with freezes some times.. so it made me think about that)
Sounds like an awesome idea if someone knows how to pull it off

There is no personal data partition in RAM.
What you see in missing RAM is what is reserved for the kernel. He needs RAM to manage the system. And some RAM is reserved for special purpose (by device drivers), like video recording etc. That is why you see only 330 MB as maximum free RAM.
it might not be a perfect idea because the sd card partitition is so slower than RAM .. so moving dbdata (personel data) to there would slow it down ..
but i have just looked at a samsung galaxy tab again and realised it has 489 Mb of user avaiable memory out of 512 MB (with the turkcell turkish rom).. so it made me wonder what that 127 Mb part which exists in galaxy s but does not in galaxy tab is.. because i have read that personal data makes the device make/recieve calls and mesages.. i dont think so because galaxy tab also can do that without sacrofising 160-170 Mb of memory..
thanks for the asnwer.. so what exactly is inside of this missing RAM part? as far as i know to record video it needs the cache memory.. its something like 30 Mb.. thats ok.. and samsung galaxy tab is also missing nearly that amount.. but this 160 Mb is too much for only a kernel i guess? kernels are like 6 mb..
and why galaxy tab does not need to sacrofise such amount of memory? because they share the same ram, CPU and GPU.. so pysically they are same but why are their structures different..
I believe the Tab has actually more physical memory available than the SGS. If I remember correctly it actually has more than 512mb of ram and so the available ram is higher than in the SGS. Its possible they didn't advertise it because it would simply make it look like they made something wrong with the SGS architecture or advertisement.
i never thought it like that.. maybe..
but in every source i can find it says both have 512 Mb of memory.. so if samsung is not lying (i guess if they did someoe would find it out and spread the news) galaxy s has a software disadvantage.. besides we all know some kernels are expanding the memory from a few Mbs to 10Mb.. maybe there is a way to exapnd it even more without harming the working of the phone..
or maybe there is a way to make an entire new software and partitition structure (which reminds me of cyanogen mod, how much memory it gives to the user?) ..
i found this ;
"the samsung rom uses a ram disk for the os. that's not necessary. putting the OS on "disk" will free up a lot of ram. "
so i believe this software related situaton could be fixed (at least some of the ram could be saved) ?
I think there's a reason samsung didn't put the OS on the "disk".
Ram is lots faster than the internal SD card, so I think it would only slow the device down.
My little brother has a HTC Sensation, which has ~750MB of ram, but only 5xx is usable.
So i think it wouldn't be possible to have that much free ram...
i have checked.. in HTCs web page it says HTC Sensation has 768Mb of ram .. and samsung says both galaxy s and galaxy tab have 512 Mb of ram..
i assume everyone is saying the amount of the ram including the shared parts..
and i assume they all create their roms and kernels based on google sources..
so what is the reason of the difference between the ram amounts of galaxy s and galaxy tab? kernel needings can not be so much different.. they have lots of things in common...
i came back to stock rom (odexed) with stock UI and filled the screen with as much as widgets i could... then i tried everything to get it frozen but i couldnt even slow it down...
for the first time i felt like some hardware in my galaxy s was not enough after i installed touchwiz 4 with other sgsII apps (like e-mail, weather widget etc..) .. and i could not believe a UI could cause lagging (even freezing) ..
then i realised that galaxy tab had much more available ram.. i am still kind of obssessed about this and really wonder if this is possible..

Like I said before, the Tab has actually 640mb of physical ram, more than the 512mb on the SGS. I'm guessing there really is nothing more we can do right now. Read up on the link I posted. If you want you can also read the whole thread that post comes from. There is lots of Dev talk on the subject.
i read all of them.. and it encouraged me to write and e-mail to samsung.. every source i can find says both deviced have 512 mb of ram.. (please nobady say samsung does not have to tell how much of the ram will be available for users, its like announcing an 1ghz cpu with a software which only forces it to work at 800Mhz) ..
Hi there,
I have a question to Xperia Acro S users: How much total RAM can you see and how much free RAM on your phones?
I have my acro s since few days and I'm a little bit disappointed. In normal use I find it a bit laggy and slow. I tried it on 6.1.A.2.45, 6.1.A.2.55 and XTXperience_9. All the roms the same problem. I installed "Android System Info" and it showed total RAM 634Mb and free RAM 196Mb.
Both my previous xperia p and my tablet ainol novo 7 flame are showing total RAM 809 Mb and more free RAM. Each of devices has 1GB RAM according to official specs.
Why there is such a difference? Anybody knows? Is there any solution?
I installed additionally "Quick system info PRO" but the same results.
Answered many times before and saying this again
From the Total 1GB RAM, around 200 MB is being used the by Adreno GPU. Some are kept reserved for the OS and rest amount of RAM we get for the apps and general use.
I am using Firmware 0.50 and honestly i don't feel that much of lag actually. If you are on Stock ROM then try this two apps from Google Play.
RAM Manager Pro and Pimp My ROM. These are really great tweaking software.
And it's not about how much free RAM you have, it's about whether the RAM optimization in your device is good or not.I have only 130 MB free RAM but my device runs quite good.
People are far too ram obsessed. U could have 80mb free and you'd never notice unless you looked. My advice. Just stop looking and use your phone

Depends on the apps that you use/dont use...Which apps that is out of your concern, just disable it but dont disable system related apps

Thank you for your reply, specially because you've written about it before. I've searched xda for this topic, but didn't find answer.
I know some of RAM is used by GPU, and some reserved for system, but I wrote the question because my xperia P and ainol (both 1GB RAM) are showing 809 total and over 400 free RAM. I wouldn't care about it, I wouldn't even have checked it if I wouldn't feel my acro s very laggy comparing to my mentioned devices. Both are worse in specs than acro s.
I'm running 0.55 stock ROM right now, I'll try the apps you suggested. I bought my phone a week ago, and hoped to be more satisfied than with xperia p (no micro sd, no watherproof, smaller screen, and so on). Now I think xperia p works better for a daily use ;/

Thanks for the list. It's a good idea to disable some of not used apps.
I still can send back my phone to shop (according to polish law when I buy via internet I can return it within 10 days), but I want to convince myself, I don't have to

No problem. Sometimes some apps like Facebook or Google play consume high amount of memory like 80-90 MB while opened for long time. So try force close these once u have done using those apps. If the RAM properly distributed then even if you have 70-80 MB free memory in total it shouldn't be lag at all.
And you can find a detail info about Pimp My ROM here-

My lg g4 was worked fine for the past 1 year. Now I am facing an issue near the camera.
Battery draining too quick. If I use 10 mins, around 30% battery is draining.
And my images are not loading. Showing like something encrypted. I have attached the screenshots too.
Note: I done reset many times. But, still facing the problem.
Using android 6.0:crying::crying:
best way to fix this is to reduce the big core A57 to 1.44 ghz or disable it completely to cool down lock the freq
clear the cache install root optimized stuff that u need all on the internet out there to solve
even the new S8 device they set it deafult at 1080p resolution so set the resolution
to 1080x1920 at 440 dpi
script (using android terminal or rom toolbox auto script startup**leave the su command for rom toolbox )
su
wm size 1080x1920 wm
or use dpi changer app (root) to archive scale but stock app will crash use 3rd party app
remove all bloat ware app ..... there alot of things to optimized
Thanks alot. I am not a techie like you. I am just a beginner. Can you tell me in the easy way to do it?
Hey,
i am looking for a custom rom for my Odys TAO x10 Tab. I found nothing on google or in the boards so i decided to ask.
I mainly need the Custom rom to expand my internal memory (RAM) with a micro sd card. This is not possible with my tab without custom rom/kernel.
I got it rooted but fund nothing further than that.
Here are some specs, maybe helping someone.
"ODYS Tao X10. Display diagonal: 10.1", Display resolution: 1024 x 600 pixels.
Internal storage capacity: 8 GB.
Processor frequency: 1.5 GHz,
Processor family: Arm,
Processor model: AML8726-MXS.
Internal memory: 1 GB.
Top Wi-Fi standard: IEEE 802.11n.
Card reader integrated.
Operating system installed: Android 4.2.2
Thank you for your help! Need this bloody expanded memory to keep my tab alive! And maybe a better android than 4.2.2
greetings
i have some PM from guys with my previous smartphone who ask me if A50 is good choice, so ... here is my answer after a little week of use my, may be people who hesitate to buy it will find this post useful :
My model : i have bought the one with 4G RAM / no nfc ( 250€ only ! ) i was thinking RAM would be far enough, but when i have seen all apps samsungs pre install .... => if you dont want to debloat it's better to buy the 6G Ram model. After debloat 4G ram is enough for me
Screen : the oled screen is big and beautiful, i really enjoy it
speed : after this debloat and disable animation ( in dev settings ) the UI is very fast , before that i had slight stutters
sound : internal spaker is bad for music, but it was not a surprise for me, i always use a bluetooth speaker or my bose headphones. With dolby atmos enabled in Sound\advanced : the sound is really good in my headphone
Samsung rom : it's my first samsung device, I usually use custom roms, so for me there is far too much apps that i don't need...
BUT after this debloat i must say the rom is really good not really need custom rom ! a lot of usefull tweaks who improves the daily use.
the black theme is beautifull. the Blue light filter can be fully customized (opacity, start time, end time ) . AlwaysOnDisplay can be programmed to be disabled the night (so it drain less battery ). Samsung gesture is fine and can be enabled instead of navbar. easy switch (call , sms , data ) when you use 2 simcard.
Camera : i like it. quality is good. My wife use it for selfies ( :crying: ) and love the "show hand feature" to take a selfie
Battery : after debloat and disable AOD the night ( AOD drain near 1% per hour ) , the battery is good. I would say a little bit less that my previous device ( moto z play ) but it was a battery monster. And A50 screen is bigger and cpu faster, so it's ok, enough
Fingerprint scanner: epic fail from samsung (have not they tested? ) , you can still use it but with me accuracy is bad, even if it's a little bit better after april update and with that or that . Even when it works it is so slow ( it is faster to use pattern )
BUT for me it does not matter so much because the face unlock works so fine ! even in a dark room. So i have enable : Screen pattern + Face recognition + Smart Lock + changed screen timeout from 15 sec to 30 sec, and quite happy with that. I rarely need to use screen pattern and nearly have forgotten this bad fingerprint scanner
EDIT November 2019 : Samsung have patched the fingerprint, it's fast now, so not an issue anymore
network some guys seems to complain about 4G speed, no issue for me, i use 2 sims with no problem
XDA / root / Custom Rom : twrp dev is probably abandonned, root is a bit touchy/risky
BUT Samsung ROM is secure and well designed, a lot of usefull tweaks => so for me better to stick to stock for now anyway.
So, Would i recommend A50 ? the answer is "Yes", if you can use face unlock and forget fingerprint. if debloat with adb is in your in your abilities ( or try to root ). And if you don't use internal speaker to listen music. For that price ( the 4G ram model = 250€) it's really a good purchase for a so excellent oled screen / big battery / quite fast cpu / quite good cam / excellent rom. Warning if you need NFC there is a specific model with NFC
The 4GB model was €169 here in The Netherlands a few weeks ago on sale. I think you can't beat that price with any phone not even from Xiaomi. With DNS66 for removing ads and Youtube Vanced I don't even need root anymore. I also de-bloated it via powershell and it's amazing fast.
Just bought an A50 from Carphone Warehouse on contract for the wife. To my great surprise and happiness - it has dual sim enabled and both IMEI's and options all working out of the box. My other phone is a P30 Lite which I'm struggling to get dual sim working on and here she has a working Dual sim out of the box. Life aint fair .
She had a Samsung J5 2017 so shes' used to the Samsung phones and quite likes this one - especially the fact that with 128GB RAM, she's not runnnig out of memory space any more.
