[Q] sgh-i317m rooting info - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey guys,I've used this website before but it's my first time posting, im having some trouble rooting my phone. I have a canadian sgh-i317m galaxy note 2 updated to the newest 4.3 version. I tried to root it using the quick root and odin but everytime I tried to use supersu it would say "unfortunately supersu has stopped working". I cant find any information on using the non quickroot way for a current 4.3 (everything I can find is for a 4.2). Id like to root it to put the newest version of illusion rom on it. Any help would be super appreciated and I apologize if this had been posted before im just having trouble finding it!

A little more information as well, I currently have supersu installed on my phone but its says theres no binary due to the fact that my last rooting attempt ended up putting an cwm recovery for a 4.2 android (mines a 4.3) and now my phones super slow. I cant figure out how to unroot it becuase supersu wont open for me to hit full unroot. Again at this point I need to (more then likely) unroot my phone to stock, then re-root to be able to flash on a new rom. Again any information would be super helpful! I just wany this hedache delt with.

[Q] Downgrading/Unlocking the new bootloader that comes with 4.3

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and i started rooting not to long ago so i guess I'm a little bit higher than noob level but here's the thing, I did not do my research prior to updating my S3 to 4.3 via OTA update. I was already rooted with 4.1.2 so when i updated I thought i would just remove the root which it did but super user was still on my phone. I was only given the option to "turn off" (new feature of 4.3) and me being OCD about my phone I didn't like that. So I tried to use odin to go back to stock 4.1.1 thinking I could Just upgrade back and I was denied. I did some research discovering that I cannot do that because I was already on 4.3. Later on I found out it was possible to re-root 4.3 which is in the general forums. So I did that and removed knox with the "DeSamsungnizer" and tried downgrading to a custom firmware Cyanogenmod 10.1 based on 4.2.2 to be exact but I was denied again on the Clockworkmod recovery screen (also tripping the warranty counter). So since that didnt work I thought why not upgrade to the the cyanogenmod 10.2 based on 4.3 and that DID work... so i tried to odin back to 4.1.1 on cyanogenmod since i've done it before but again I was denied.. doing more research I discovered that andriod 4.3 came with a new bootloader so today I tried going back to 4.1.2 on my phone via one of my previous backups on CWM and it worked, once again, I tried to odin back down to stock 4.1.1 thinking I restored the old bootloader which I was finally denied again. So now I'm here, sitting on the rooted 4.3 with a locked bootloader and tripped warranty counter. So now youve heard my story, you are probably wondering why I'm here telling you all this, here's my question.
Is there any way I can downgrade this locked bootloader or unlock the bootloader itself that comes with 4.3 so I can finally get rid of the root, restore my warranty and go back to the experience had when I first bought the phone? honestly, I'm ready to retire from rooting, ive seen all the bells and whistles, tried custom firmwares, used rooted apps and all that, but now, I just dont care for it anymore. If there is no way to fix this problem currently, which a lot of those might have ran into as well is there any news of developers working on a fix for this? If there is I would like this forum to be the central discussion thread for our 4.3 bootloader issues. Thanks for reading! I hope someone can help!

Short answer NO. no you can not, you upgraded to the 4.3 bootloaders you're now stuck there, make the most out of it, I have hard bricked my phone 3 times in the last week trying to get back to an older version. Good luck.

[Q] Root for sm-t217s running the new 4.4.2 kitkat update?

Hello my names Aaron, I rooted my galaxy tab 3 (sm-t217s) a little bit ago then unrooted just because my wifi wasnt turning on.. I had to do a stock restore through odin to get it all working again. When I did that I got the new kitkat update and gladly updated it. Now again though I want to root it so I can again do all the great things you can do with rooting!
So my questions are:
Can I root it running 4.4.2 the same way I did when I was running 4.2.2? Will it brick it if I just put on a custom recovery the same way as before and let that install superSU?
I would just like to know and if not then is there another way currently to root it?
I couldnt find anything about it that is why I am posting about it.. must not be a very common tablet?
Anyways thanks for your time and help!

Either use towelroot to root from within android or you can still flash twrp from Odin and root that way. Twrp may set warranty bit, mine was was already tripped so I can't say dor sure if it does.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using XDA Free mobile app
I used towel root on4.4.2 update worked great, and yes twrp does set set warrenty bit
Sent from my SM-T217S using Tapatalk
I used towelroot on my tablet, it does what it has to do. Does not reboot, but when I use Root Checker it says that I do not have root.....any suggestions?
I was rooted with towel root fine under the June 2014 update to 4.4.2, but I mistakenly took the update to NH4 while rooted. My device seems to be fine, but I lost root and Towel root will not seem to root me again, no way, no how. My warranty bit is clean, and I don't want to trip it, but I'd love to have root back. Is there anyything I can do on NH4 from within Android to get root back? TIA
How did you do an unroot through Odin and which version of Towelroot did you use to root it again? I have the same tablet.
I have SM-T217S running Kitkay 4.4.2. I've tried almost every root app there is (Kingo, Towel, ect.). They all say my device isn't compatible. And when I go to update under settings, it says that my device is running unauthorized software and that I need to use Samsung kies to flash. But it has no root & no custom software, everything is normal. I have tried using computer to root but still nothing. What could I do to fix it?

Want STOCK ROOT for Note 2 with 4.4.2 after OTA from AT&T

I am looking to just get ROOT without any changes in the stock kernel.
I don't want the weird name sounding ROM's or any of that.
Just some way to get root so I can load Titanium Backup and FREEZE the AT&T bloatware
I just go the OTA today (11/14/14) when I turned my phone on. It's the AT&T SGH-I317
and now say
Android 4.4.2
Build Number
KOT49H.I317UCUCNJ1
Device Status
Official
So is there a quick and easy way to do this?
I use a iMac BUT I can boot into Windows 7 Ultimate also (which from rooting phones before I usually always go that route).
Any help/directions would be appreciated.
Also this, who comes up with those weird names for different ROM's that NEVER really explain, in plain old English, what they do?
I can't (or don't want to) learn the syntax lingo used to find a working ROM that does just a simple thing, give you ROOT, even after reboots/yank battery/etc.
Maybe a one-click solution?
thanks :fingers-crossed:

You should try CF Autoroot
any confirmation that CF root works on 4.4.2 with NJ1 OTA update/
as soon as someone gets a root to stick
and I mean just standard, stock adding su to the mix
post the steps as to how you did it
a one click root would of course be the best......
but at least tell us how you did it, and screen shots to show would help too.
thanks

I haven't gotten root with Odin yet. No brick in and everything shows custom but US throws an error

[Q] Root help. KK 4.4.4 Stock new device (Never mind)

So after a year and a half, my S4's LCD went kaput. Back when I got it, I rooted it within minutes of opening the box, but that was running firmware that was quite easy to root and flash with a custom recovery. I now have a new device and would like to root, flash recovery and flash Pac-Rom.
The problem? I'm rusty and out of date on the current processes. So could someone give me a noob version of how to go through the root and recover flash portion, please?
Forgot to mention, this is running on the NK2 build.
Edit: Never mind. I went with my instincts and it worked out fine.
I'm actually having this issue now only I had to upgrade to nk7. How did you go about rooting? I've done everything I knew to do short of Odin which I don't have access to on a regular basis. Would love e to get root back and be the Lil deviant I am lol

Is a downgrade from fully stock MM possible?

My mom accidentally upgraded her Note to Marshmallow. She hates stock because of how slow it runs. I've had @hsbadr's CM on my Note for a while now and I really like it. She's willing to try it out, but now that she's upgraded to MM, there's no root.
Is it possible to flash the full Stock 5.1.1 tar, or do I have to wait for KingRoot? I remember someone saying, in one of the threads I'm subscribed to, that it could be downgraded, but I want to make sure, since this time it isn't my phone. I would try it myself and maybe soft brick my phone, but mine is already happily running CM.
The phone should be on the CPF3 firmware right now.
Sorry to bump this, but it would be really great to have a definitive answer. Everything's backed up, but I still don't want to hard brick the phone.
OK, so I went ahead and tried flashing the StockRestore BPA1 firmware. That led to this error: [tz] fused 2 > Binary 1. Apparently I can't downgrade the bootloader, and that's why I got that error. I'm now trying to flash the N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVRU2BPA1_VZW firmware.
That one worked. I was able to boot into 5.1.1, but since it still had the 6.0.1 bootloader (I think this is the reason), KingRoot wouldn't work. Using the Kingo Root desktop app (it's been updated; looks a lot nicer) allowed me to root and unlock.
