Can anybody answer the OP question on which is a suitable RUU for a PVT4 desire?
Chromiums response astonishingly seems to be just a link to a small thread on how flash a ROM (generic) using the PB99IMG method.
Oh - I tried 'the 2.3 one' as suggested elsewhere and the camera etc doesn't work, also needed a new gold card after the flash.

hi
i have desire with hboot .93 i just buy from uk there is any way to root it.
thanks
p.s don't know if slcd or no.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749551 gives all the info
but http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750852 is the process you'll need to follow to achieve root i think (if you have slcd screen)
I'm confused...
my phone says:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON

MICROP-031d

That is HBOOT 0.93, just use unrEVOked (might have to use v3.21 if v3.32 doesn't work)
Thanks - so straight here then: http://unrevoked.com/#desire
The links confused me with all the talk of downgrading, and different hboots etc. - I guess they are out of date?
Yep, if that doesn't work then you need to find a link to v3.21 as this seems to work on HBOOT 0.93 if the current version doesn't work (dunno why)
Constantly getting 'communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted. Try again.'
any ideas or links to the older version?
edit1: nevermind - will try http://downloads.unrevoked.com/recovery/3.21/reflash_package.exe
edit2: that version seemed to work - says 'done.' at least anyway... and has superuser permissions icon
HBOOT shows S-ON still? that doesn't sound right?
unrEVOked doesn't S-OFF - you have to use AlphRev for that. unrEVOked only S-OFFs CDMA phones
Thanks. That was what I thought but the guide I was looking at said... of you have superuser permissions app you are rooted. But to double check boot to hboot and check it says S off...

Any help appreciated
First you need to root using unrevoked, when that is successful you can use alpharev.
Also make sure you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. It's all there.

that is what i tried
Use unrevoked, not unrevoked forever.
used unrevoked 3
DId you installed The hboot drivers correctly?
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install
Try this version of unrevoked 3:
http://downloads.unrevoked.com/recovery/3.21/reflash_package.exe
Is USB-Debug-Mode on while trying to root your Desire with unrevoked?
Do you have set the usb-connection-mode on "only charge" and "never ask"?
Do you try to root with windows or linux?
For windows: uninstalled HTC Sync (not the Drivers) and rebooted your computer after this?
Still have problems? Try to root with superoneclick:

Mission accomplished! HTC Desire Rooted.
Thankyou to the people who gave me all the advice
Hi guys,
I'm trying to unroot my phone so that i can trade it in to my network Three (Hutchinson 3G) for my upgrade. I don't want any hassle so i thought i should just unroot my phone. I thought about using a RUU but i couldn't get it to connect through HTC Sync due to my HTC Desire running Sandvold's ICS rom.
Any advice on how i should go about unrooting my Desire so that i'm running the software it came with?
Thanks,
Dean

first ,u must flash a 2.2 custom rom. the use the ruu application.
first you need to change your hboot with the "downgrade" hboot from: http://alpharev.nl/
if you have that you can run the ruu

Hi Friends,
My friend gave me his desire (orange) but rooted. I want to unroot it.
This is what it shows in the Hboot screen

The issue is:
Gets into infinite boot loop on Htc Screen after flashing RUU .(used instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632)
After this if I try to place the zip PB99IMG.zip in the root of my sd card, it not even recognizes it :crying:. Am not sure how to continue from this point.
Can anybody out here help me.
I've used the following RUU - RUU_Bravo_Vodafone_UK_1.19.161.5_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126338_signed
Thanks in advance.
