Q: What is the correct file size for a backup?
A: The TA partition size can differ per model, so there is no one answer to this question.
Also the TA partition contains a logging area which changes and thus can be different in size each time the device boots,
which can lead to different compression size of the backup file.
You can rest assured that your backup is fine, also in file size, when the tool says the backup was successful.

TA contains your DRM keys, a few logs and other device specific information. It definitely does NOT contain the whole software..
If you've used the "Backup TA" from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598 and didn't interrupt the backup, you should be good. :good:
176kb here..

Does CWM backup, backs up efs?

Im currently using Philz recovery and while doing a periodic backup, i think i saw efs while data was being backed up. So does the nandroid backup , backs up the device's efs?
I know for sure twrp does. So i puppose cwm should too.
Hope it helps.

Thanx for the reply.
One more question I had . Is it possible to restore someone else CWM backup?
Yes it is. But if it really backs up efs. That is totally not recommended.
You can restore
System, data, cache, boot, and recovery.
Those are safe.
But if you want his apps for example then just data is enough.

Before restoring a backup,CWM checks for md5 hash. What is that?
It is fir the integrity of the backup.
In case it is corrupted.

So there will be no conflict with md5 hash if I restore someone else backup?
And a silly question, how would the integrity of the backup deteriorate? :?
It can break during transfer an other instances. That is why it checks it.

after update to 4.3 can't register to network. IMEI isn't corrupt

Hey guys.
My international N7100 after flashing stock rom (4.3) with odin can't register to network. IMEI isn't corrupted - still shows correct one after pushing *#06#
Please help.
Did you ever backup your efs? If not, look for a folder named 'efs' through any root explorer. Not the one you are already having under /efs.
It could be under somewhere of the sdcard. Sometimes during flashing an auto efs backed up. If you found that folder, delete entire contents of the root efs folder and paste contents of the other efs. Have a look now.

SuperSU says that I have to make manual re-root, should I just ignore it?
Did you root before? Which cwm you are using? If your device was rooted before you flash4.3 then prob is with the efs. Install philz recovery 5.15 then from custom restore, restore the efs from your backup.
That's all.

Nandroid refusing to be restored

OK so I just finished partitioning my phone and I wanted to restore a nandroid. However, after I restored my nandroid, (I installed my ROM separately) my data just wouldn't show up. The restore took about 4 minutes and all seemed normal. But after booting, my apps, photos and stuff weren't there. Somebody help I don't wanna lose all my photos.

It must restore your user apps.
Aren't there any errors while restoring? Check the backup file if the size is reasonable.

Your files are located in your internal storage. I always wipe my /data partition everytime I install a custom rom. My photos are safe because I do not wipe my int storage.
