[Q] New to Android (from Apple) cannot mount my Note 2

Hello everyone,
I just got my Note 2 three days back, I love the device and the OS.
I am running Mac OS 10.7.5 and I am unable to mount my phone to the mac, I have tried using android file transfer and it says cannot find device.
I tired both the MTP and PTP options and restarted multiple times, I have also tried Double Twist and the phone doesn't show up - though dropbox is able to recognize the device. I have tried Kies but its really show to recognize the phone and it takes ages to transfer.
How can I mount my phone on the mac so I can use the double twist interface or just drag and drop files to the phone.
I also have another questions on where the contacts, notes etc are getting backed up and how can I access them.

There is an app somewhere in the market place to mount USB

For contacts, I back it up online using google contacts, since android phone is already tied with a google account.

Go to settings and enable developer options and usb debugging too. It will help you to connect in mtp mode. For contacts you can use Google cloud or export them to your sd card like .vcf file. For notes backup you can use samsung cloud under settings. You can backup your messages , calender and s notes too.

Can't copy files from to my Note 2

So I was trying to transfer over some files to my Galaxy Note 2. Every time I tried to, I got an "Error Device is not connected or no longer responding" I don't know what's wrong. I can copy files from my phone to my computer fine. But from the computer to the phone gives me the error. Help?

Same problem here, but using tmobile nexus 2 T889. Haven't found any solution to it yet.

[Q] Data sync & file transfer

I am using Samsung Kies for a short period of time and found it works with my Note 2 LTE but very slow in recognising my phone. It takes a couple of minutes to complete and I need to unlock my phone a couple of times in the process of recognition. Is it normal? I just updated to Samsung Kies 2.0.0.12123_7 for Mac and no obvious improvement.
Before I install Kies, I installed Android File Transfer for files transfer with Android phone. It works correctly. However, once I installed Samsung Kies, every time I connect my phone using usb port, the Android File Transfer pops up but says cannot find the device. I am unsure if it affects Samsung Kies. Is there any way to transfer the files from and to the phone? I found it is the fastest way to do file transfer amongst others such as Dropbox, bluetooth etc. Thanks!

what data you wanna backup?
whole rom - use nandroid backup (makes a ghost like nortan ghost)
apps - use titanium backup

[Q] Unable to connect over USB to PC after rooting Note-2 android 4.4.2

Hi All,
I rooted my note 2 android version 4.4.2. But after rooting.. I lost USB connection to PC. It was all working fine before rooting & after rooting.. It stopped connecting to laptop.. so, I am not able to move files..
Can somebody please help.. I checked its not firewall, or service stopped issue.. or MTP application is freeze..

1. Temporarily you can use AirDroid to transfer your files to your PC (assuming that you have a wifi at home) or remove SD card to transfer files.
2. It is important to know how you rooted. What method?
3. If u can run TiTanium backup, backup user apps + data.
4. Backup smses, call logs and contacts.
5. Do a factory reset.
This should solve the problem.
