if yu can access the download mode, flash the 4.3 bootloader/modem and rom and hope it boots up
1st clean -up then flash without odin
edit: if yu upgraded to mjb bootloader downgrading is impossible
its not hard bricked then its still alive, keep trying, DONT RUSH or Panic or over-do-it if it doesnt (IT WILL ONLY MAKE THINGS WORSE) i have being there and i actually hard bricked my 1st time rooting

Don't use Odin to install a stock ROM if you have the 4.3 bootloader and it may brick your phone.

agree with mbrian and audit, check if yu can access the download mode, if not then try a JTAG, to force it into download mode
or try to get it in recovery mode
Hey guys. Not sure if I should start my own thread but after reading through many this seems to be the closest to my situation. Here's the back story.
I put in a fully charged battery that I've used successfully for a few months. Phone appeared to successfully boot up then rebooted itself. Made it to swirling blue before rebooting again. This time, and every time after, it freezes at the Samsung Galaxy SIII screen. Phone won't go into recovery mode but will enter download mode.
I was running rooted ATT stock rom (not sure what version but I haven't done the last 2 OTA's for sure). Phone had been rooted for at least 6 months with no issues. No new apps or anything had been done to the phone recently. TWRP is on the phone however when trying to enter it it freezes on the Team Win screen and never fully enters recovery.
When trying go back to stock rom using Odin I get the same message as the OP. I'm using the firmware found here . I747UCALG1.
My phone also has a bad pin connection in the usb port (hence why I was changing out batteries)
It forms a connection but at times doesn't stay connected or any little manipulation could throw it off. I do know however that it's not losing connection with the computer when I get the failed message in Odin.
Any help or ideas? As of now I'm rocking a go phone but would rather get my S3 back.
Thanks

Hello fellow xda members!
Im having issues with my soft bricked samsung galaxy s3 AT&T. I tried flashing stock rom after using CM10 nightlies for a while. I totally forgot to fully whipe all data. So i went ahead and tried to flash stock rom using odin. I believe my problem lies in what i did in odin when i was flashing the rom. I followed the HOW TO UNROOT & FACTORY RESET YOUR SGSIII video in the ALL IN ONE NOOBS VIDEO GUIDES post ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728824&highlight=heimdall ). In the video he told me to make sure i have F. Reset Time dissabled before i flash. I think that this might be the problem.
Also as an attempt to fix this issue, i attempted to follow the how-to on fixing a soft brick (which is what i believe is the problem) on this post ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030 ). Odin gives me a nice big FAIL when i attempt to flash the VRALEC bootchain. I followed the guide (so far) to the exact letter, and what i should do if i have problems flashing those files.
One more thing i forgot to mention, the only thing that i can do is boot into download mode. I cant boot into recovery T_T.
Thanks in advance!
ps: let me know if there is anything i have missed to help find the solution!

I rooted my friends GS3 yesterday and he was on Verizon. We had to flash the unlocked VRALEC bootchain. We never do that for AT&T as it's not locked.
Not sure what else I can say, but just make sure you didn't flash anything from the Verizon S3...
EDIT: Yeah man that second thread you linked to is Verizon. They are completely different phones...
Just download the Odin files, put your phone into download mode and make sure you have Samsung USB drivers installed and Windows 7 (mine doesn't work on Win8) and put the odin files into the PDA section and flash.

Thanks brother, i guess i missed that it was Verizon (duh!) i feel stupid. Il try it again, and update.
All you have to do after you flash the stock ROM is go into recovery by powering off the phone and holing the volume up +power + home button and select wipe data/factory reset and it will boot. Hope you didn't do more damage by flashing something from your second link.

I think he should be Okay because Odin said 'failed'. But I think it would be a good idea to Odin back to stock because that will re-partition your phone and I think it would be better overall to just start fresh.
happened to me a few times lol
what you do is
get a stock rom for your phone
go to recovery, wipe everything(data, dalvik, cache)
go to download mode
flash stock rom through odin
done.

You don't need recovery for Odin. It will completely wipe your phone for you.
Here is a link to the AT&T Odin file for the latest release.

Oh sorry, i thought you wanted me to get into recovery and wipe data first before i flash?
Don't worry about recovery just Odin back to stock. This process will already wipe everything. After successful flash in Odin if it bootloops, then do a factory reset in stock recovery

I never said to go into recovery, somebody else did And yes just Odin back to stock. And just like jbradbury said. If you are still getting a bootloop after you Odin to stock, to a factory reset in the samsung 3e recovery. The stock Samsung 3E recovery will be flashed when you Odin.
*sigh* no luck, i download the stock rom, put my phone into download mode, loaded the rom and flashed it, and maybe 3 seconds later i got FAIL again. Any other suggestions anyone? Also i noticed SECURE CHECK FAIL : aboot in red at the top left of download mode screen.

Yes they are different phones. I'm glad you got it figured out.
Hello people, here's my situation
I installed a bad Custom Bootloader ROM on my phone from my SD card that bricked my phone and put it in a boot loop.
I had CMW as my recovery and I factory reseted. Still stuck in Boot loop.
So I tried to recover my phone using A SGH-T999 Stock ROM with Odin.
Here's what I see:
Get pit for mapping
NAND Write Start
Boot.img
Complete(Write) Operation failed.
Now when i rebooted it now says that a firmware error occurred.
I wasn't even in a boot loop anymore. The Firmware error happens instead of that. Then i couldn't' go to recovery mode anymore. I Found Root66 for SGH-T999 and tried to flash it.
It failed when it was like 99% done but it restored my phone somewhat…..(I was back at boot loop again but I was able to access recovery mode again, except that it was STOCK RECOVERY now.
Kies doesn't see my phone it just says connecting. Today I left it 7:30AM to 4:15 PM. And it STILL said connecting.
Nothing Will Flash. I all i see is.
Get pit for mapping
Complete(Write) Operation Failed.
That's literally what happens. I don't see no NAND Write Start or anything. It happens every time for pretty much anything.
When I access Recovery, It is Stock recovery and not CMW anymore. So I can't flash anything off of my SD Card. Probably because the ROMS are not signed.
Here is some info from my phone in download mode

Below. It basically went to 99% and failed in ODIN.
It did get rid of the firmware error but my phone was back in the bootloop. At least I was able to get recovery mode back.. Except that it's stock recovery.
As of right now,
Here's what I have
1. The phone is in a boot loop.
2. Download mode is accessible
3. Stock Recovery Mode is accessible
4. Every time I try to flash something onto the phone using odin, it says this before it fails:
Get pit for mapping(I have to wait for like 10 Minutes straight)
Complete(Write) Operation Failed
What do I from here to fix this. All I want is to get the phone running again. I don't care if it's back to stock or rooted.
Download and flash the 4.3 root66.. It won't flash anything lower because i think you have the 4.3 bootloader

Okay I have been having issues galore trying to update my Sprint SPH-L900 to the new 4.4. Mainly unexpected errors package when trying to install. Already wiped cache and factory resetted. Still on 4.3 I hope now Kies3 will be able to help. Sunofabit KIES CRASHES AND NOW I AM STUCK ON FIRMWARE UPGRADE ENCOUNTERED AN ISSUE! I can still get into bootloader thankfully. Trying to flash back to 4.3 or 4.1.2 gives me a sboot.bin fail on Odin.
I also tried a second computer with Kies 3 to upgrade firmware initialization and it just sat there with Kies dimmed the whole freaking night! It'll say it's downloading the necessary things to do it and then it just sits there with Kies dimmed.
I have no idea what to do What should I do from here??
Any help here please greatly appreciated!
Looks like you will have to wait for the official tar from sprint. If you can get a custom recovery flashed via odin then you will be able to run custom roms till the tar is released.

1. open odin (recommend 1.85) and uncheck reboot option then click pda and select file
2. boot phone into download mode and connect to pc
3. flash file from odin
4. disconnect phone from pc and remove battery
5. while holding vol +, home key, power key insert battery (just to make sure it boots into recovery)
6. flash whatever rom you want aosp or touchwiz

Hi, im having similar issues and i tried your method above, with odin 1.85 and i cant get past the bootloop (samung logo) screen. I am relatively new to this and was on stock MK4 and flashed the 4.4.2 OTA file that was posted on XDA because i was too impatient to wait for the OTA. After flashing the 4.4.2 file, i decided i was going to go back to Stock MC2 (Billard's file) and just wait for the OTA updates all over again, which has proved to be stupid on my part. As i was going through the process of receiving the OTA for MK4, the phone just got hung up on the Samsung logo screen and i havent been able to get it back to normal yet.
I have tried your method above, tried going back to MK4 through an Odin Tar, tried flashing TWRP, and ive gotten nowhere. Ive spent the last two days on here, researching and downloading files that have worked for others. Im at wits end.
Any advice, aside what you've described above would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for anything you can do.
Samsung Bootloop After Updating to MK4
I'm also having a similar issue. I'm able to successfully flash garwyn's modified mk4 stock rom using odin, but the original tar file always fails instantly after attempting to flash sboot.bin. When the original tar file is flashed, the phone reports "Unsupported Version" in the download screen. I was able to flash the stock mk4 recovery and the twrp and philz custom recoveries, but I was not able to get into the recovery mode. The phone remains in the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" screen when trying to boot normally or get into recovery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a rooted Samsung galaxy s4 sgh-m919, and last week i try to change the rom on it and something went wrong. Now i get a message when i power up that reads "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies & try again". I try to used Oden3-v3.07 to fix it but all i get is this:

Whatever bootloader version you have, try matching the modem to that and trying again... For instance, if you have the 4.2.2 (MDL) bootloader, try flashing just the MDL modem and then try doing whatever you were trying to do.
I encountered that screen when I tried to restore my first/original backup of 4.2.2 after I had upgraded the modem to NB4. I thought I had bricked the device because the firmware upgrade screen was all I could get to come up and Odin would fail every time I tried flashing the stock tar. For some reason I downgraded my modem, flashed the stock tar and it worked.

Here is what i have when i Power up the phone
Top Right corner
Odin Mode
Product Name: sgh-m919
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Official
Knox Kernal Lock: 0x0
Knox Warranty Void: 0x1
CSB-Config-LSB: 0x30
Write Protection: Enable
eMMC Burst Mode Enable
I have try to flash with oden v3.07 and v3.09 change usb ports and cables.
I try flashing:
M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_TMB
M919UVUEMK2_M919TMBEMK2_TMB
M919UVUFNB4_M919TMBFNB4_TMB
SGH-M919-TMB-M919UVUAMDL-136696413
and I always get the Oden fail
I try also flashing openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-jfltetmo with oden and it will load but only the samsung logo will come up and it stays there.
Now im looking for the (MDL) bootloader and NB4 files to try to load. Can you guys point me in the right directions to get the files?
Thank you

If download mode shows Knox Warranty Void: 0x1 it means you definitely have either MK2 or NB4 (and that you've tripped KNOX). Knowing that, there is no need whatsoever to try using any files that are for MDL or MDB. Use only 4.3 and above.
Because you haven't said if your phone has been officially updated to either MK2 or NB4 I would say to download both of those stock firmwares from sammobile.com. Also you should search around the general forum for the MK2 and NB4 modem files by themselves.
Once you have all the files, try flashing the MK2 modem/stock firmware: power phone off, boot to download mode, flash modem file, power off, then do it again. After turning the phone off the second time, boot back to download mode and try flashing the MK2 official firmware.
If that doesn't work, use the same process, but use the NB4 modem/firmware combo in place of the MK2 files.
Thank you guys for your help. You have giving me different ideas and i was able to search and find different things to try and now i think im moving forward.
Ok I was able to load M919UVUFNB4_M919TMBFNB4_TMB using Oden3 v3.07. What i did was uncheck auto reboot and f. reset time. the problem is that now the phone rebooted and is in a loop with a message Unfortunately, google play services has stop and i cant get it pass that point?
any ideas in how to fix this?

I was having the same issue. Where did you get that MB4 file from? I downloaded mine from a post that listed all 3 modems, 2.4Gb or so.
I see other ones that are 1.5 Gb. I am not sure what to do. I tried flashing the MB4 through Odin and it keeps failing. My phone came with NB4 (refurbished), so I assume I can only use NB4. Help?

i tried odin and it failed. SW REV CHECK FAIL: Fused 3> Binary 0
i have cwrm installed. i think somethings wrong with the bootloader? Havent used android inyears so. i dont know whats going on...
donwload TWRP to your phone model, use odin to install and trie to do a reset factory, after that donwload firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625 copy to you phone and install use twrp
I would use Odin to flash TWRP recovery and then factory reset it, or use it to flash a rom, ur CWM may be too old to flash newer roms, try an updated version of TWRP

No if u flashed the wrong bootloader or something it wouldn't even boot, there would be no coming back from a bad bootloader flash, I would try installing TWRP and then reset, then flash it stock with odin

Odin is failing because the ROM you are trying to flash has a bootloader that is older than the bootloader in the phone.
Before flashing anything else, I recommend finding the bootloader and modem version of the phone. Once you have this information, you will have a better idea of what you can and can't flash. An incompatible bootloader/modem combination could hard brick the phone too.
