My city just recently got 4G LTE and some of the phones in the store are now getting LTE. Its only like 1-s bars because it has only been active for two days...
My phone isn't showing any 4G though while others right next to mine are. I however, am on CM 11. I have LTE set as the default connection mode or whatever but nothing yet.
Just wanted to check and see if there are any known issues with LTE on CM 11 especially on the Sprint variant.
I'm having this issue as well. Which radio are you using for your phone?

Is anyone else experiencing "issues" with the CDMA radio "overtaking" the LTE radio? It's as if the CDMA radio rules over the LTE radio and decides whether or not to use 4G or 3G.
I've had to toggle LTE multiple times after it went to 3G in order to get LTE back.
noticed this as well running 4.0.2 radios, at least you get it back after toggling mine drops it altogether... but I just got my nexus today so maybe I overlooked something

I experience the same, 4G works great, until it drops to 3G. Then it seems to take forever to bump up to 4G again, but usually I have to toggle it off and then back on. A friend of mine can't get 4G to work at all, Verizon has told him it's a radio issue (odd though because they tried his sim in 3 different Galaxy Nexus devices). I'm going to try and upgrade him to the leaked 4.0.4 build this week to see if the new radios will help him, it's too nice of a phone to be stuck on 3G all the time.
Hi all,
I know Samsung are making a 3g version of the note 2, and they will also release a 4G lte version. The isn't any good 4G networks where I live right now, but i was thinking if future proofing my phone, and I also might be moving back to England soon. my questions are this:
If I buy a 4G model (n7105 I think), will I be able to flash the international version roms?, I know I might not get the 4G network if I do that, but would I still get the 3g networks if i flashed a different modem?.
If I get the 4G version, I would get worse battery life cos of the need for a extra modem to be running, but will I be able to disable 4G in settings (like I can disable 3g on my s2)..?
And if I can disable 4g, then would I still get the same battery life as on a 3g version of the phone?.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers Corey

I'm using N7105 on a non-LTE provider and still works as a charm without battery issues. 50% on day 1 with playing around lasted me half day.

yes you are able to disable the LTE network, and choose the GSM/WCDMA instead.
But without disabling it, the network will auto choose the available network. If you current telco doesn't provide any LTE connection, the phone will auto change to 3G.
Like here the telco I'm using, even provides the 4G connection, but, in facts, it is not yet island-wide. So, when I reach my home, it turns directly to 3G. Battery wise, as I notice, is the same. Not much different when you are in 4G or in 3G. But yes, speed is different when you are in 4G.
The only lack of this 4G (N7105), .....
we still don't have specific forum for N7105 (dunno why we don't have... LOL) nor custom ROM. So, I just have to bear with the stock ROM rooted. :fingers-crossed:

Future proof?
Well depends on how long you are intending to keep it. These days people change phone very frequently and LTE is no loss for most general usage of data use.

There is already a 3G and LTE version out in Australian market with a price difference of $200+ with the latter being more expensive.
If you are moving back to England very soon (1 or 2 months), do check out the price and review of the LTE plans and services with the various mobile providers before deciding which version to purchase. Have read online that LTE charges in Europe is a killer and data speed of LTE will be greatly affected by the amount of users at the same time, within the same WAN.
As for future-proofing your phone, it will depends on how long you are using it since nowadays, majority of the ppl does not use the same phone for more than 2 years, which is directly affected by the various 'annual contract plans' which the providers has to offer.
Flashing the International version Rom to my N7105 was not very successful as I lost WIFI/Data/Mobile receiption and I have since unrooted my device..
Waiting for the official Home for N7105 as well.. :fingers-crossed:
Anyone have this problem I was in an lte area for about an hour and never picked up lte

I live in an lte area and I have issues picking up lte or holding it. Usually if I know their is lte were I am I may have rot toggle airplane mode and it will pick up lte. I'm just hoping for a leaked radio update or something because this is getting old
I have the same issue with mine, I thought it was defective but it seems to be the norm. I came from an Evo LTE, so sadly its nothing new to me
I noticed the radio on this phone isn't very good, the handoff leaves a lot to be desired
I have an interesting issue. My wife and I both have Note II's. I have a grey one, she has a white one. Both are on the latest Stock Rom and rooted, same kernel and modem revisions. Both phones on the dreaded 2000 PRL (Havent got around to flashing another one because we have an Airave 2.5)
My phone will not connect to 3g at all when I have LTE enabled. The other phone connects to 3G just fine with LTE enabled.
I have another friend that only sporadically connects to 3g with LTE enabled. If I set the phones that wont stay connected to 3G to CDMA mode everything is fine.
Any ideas?
Try automatic?

Does this happen around the airave? Airaves are known to cause a host of isues with rooted phones even with no custom roms

The only way to get 3g when lte is enabled is when you lose lte sinal is you just want to use 3g set it to cdam mode only if you set it to lte

Cdma only or global
I was reading some other sites and threads after I encountered a problem almost just like this because I had switched my signal type while on AOSP.
I discovered that because our phone are global they have different connection setting and in short when you switch to either global mode or CDMA only, and try to go back to lte evdo the phone will roam constantly and will not be able to reconnect to lte. So while I was trying to fix my LTE I managed to force my LTE on but I wasnt getting any cdma or evdo. finally I got everything back to normal by flashing a back to stock rom and doing a hands free activation.
I'm also have an overwhelming time with 3g. I have no lte in my area but have tried both CDMA only and CDMA/let settings. My 3g is on and off within 1 minute intervals or hours at a time. I pretty much have no data connection 95% of the day, until I get home from work and can hit WiFi.
I'm just stock rooted on MC2 and also on prl 2000.
I've been on the phone with sprint for days trying to figure this out or get them to waive my ETF. I refuse to keep paying for service when I am not getting any. It's bad enough they don't have 4G much less LTE here, but I can't continue to do these sub par dialup speeds to no speeds.
Any other tips to try would be greatly appreciated. As sprint says everything is fine in my area...
Go figure.

Yeah, same problem here. Somehow after rooting the phone i completely lost 4G LTE connectivity. Now everywhere i go it's only on 3G or EvDo Rev-8 which sucks. I think the only way of fixing toys issue is to Unroot and go back to stock ROM.
After doing a lot of research on the matter that is the only solution right now to our 4G LTE catastrophe.

Hey all! Ok, so my gf has had this S2 from Koodo (Telus) since January. Out of the box it came with LTE/4G enabled and working fine. However, I rarely leave things alone and right away I installed TWRP, AOKP and I think, Tiberius Kernel. Have been using variations of each since. However, ever since I did that, the 4G hasn't worked. In the phone settings it says LTE/GSM Auto. However if I change it to anything else, like LTE ONLY, for example, it just stays at LTE/GSM auto. Nothing happens. So I am wondering how to get her 4G to work again since I know it is fully capable of it and my area does have working LTE.

Ok but my mother has the same phone (got them each one) but I haven't touched that one and it says 4G by the signal bars... Why is that?

4g is the same as H+ on custom roms. And now some say DC. Not sure why they left behind the 4g symbol, but its all the same thing. So if you see H+, DC or 4g, its all actually 4g.
You should be on GSM/wcdma preferred in mobile settings.

I have sorta the same problem, except I have a tmobile s2 t989. I flashed cm 10.1 nightlies and the newest radio. Phone works good except my phone no longer shows the 4G symbol above the signal bars. It instead says 3G. Before rooting it said 4G above the signal bars. Every once in a while it says DC. Any advice?

Explained the symbols in posts above. And if you are getting a lot of 3g....that's reception. Your losing your 4g connection and its picking up 3g. Usually for this to happen you'd only be getting about 1 bar on your signal.

I appreciate the info. I live in Orlando and I'm pretty sure we have tmobiles 4g or hspa+. I was just wondering why I'm only getting 3G date speeds instead of 4G speeds. The internet still seems relatively fast but wanted to make sure the phone wasn't slowing down the speeds to 3G speeds.

Aosp ROMs run on 3g (umts) until data is called. Once data is called it will pull up h+(hspa+)or dc(dc-hspa) depending on your area. Its a battery saving feature and the stock Samsung ROMs show 4g all the time. Unless on edge or GPRS. I think even touchwiz ROMs went to umts while idle.
