Shadowrun looks crazy good.

MyScript Stylus Beta keyboard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.visionobjects.stylusmobile.v3_2_store) - I use this with Tasker, Note Buddy, and Secure Settings in order to automatically switch the keyboard to this when I take the pen out. And back to Samsung keyboard when I put the pen back. Hopefully S Pen Board Switcher will be updated for KitKat soon and then we will only need one app to do that)
MultiWindow Apps Manager (Root) (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.xperiacle.mwappsmanager) - add other apps to multi window
Pen Window Manager (Root) (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.xperiacle.penwindowmanager) - same thing as abovev for pen window.
Pen Window Launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.xperiacle.penwindowlauncher) - click a button to launch pen window instead of having to take out pen and draw a window.
Papyrus and Lecture Notes of course.
Photo Mate R2 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tssystems.photomate2) Import and edit your raw photo files on your tablet. Played around with this last night. Works pretty well! Lightroom-ish editing abilities. Worked even better after I fixed the external SD card write ability, so I could work with the big raw files on my external card.Editing with the pen seems to work pretty well too.
Spyder Gallery (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.datacolor.caprica) Just recently discovered this. *IF* you have a Spyder 4 monitor calibrator, you can use it to configure this app on your Note Pro. It does not calibrate everything on your Note Pro. Only when viewing images via the Spyder Gallery app. Hey, better than nothing Set it up and was able to calibrate it. Pics look nice!
Feedly looks lovely on the big screen. As does watching movies and shows with Plex.
As for games.. I do more of the mahjong, sudoku kind of thing...
Handwrite Sudoku (with s-pen support) (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.unlimitedpocketsoftware.handwritesudokupro) - it's a little finicky recognizing some numbers at times, but once you realize what it wants... not too bad.
I tried the new Tribez and Castlez game out last night (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gameinsight.thetribezcastlez), and it runs very well. The control buttons and messages are too small though. Definitely needs to be Greenified.
That's it for me for now

It's pretty easy I think he is using the same method I came up with in another thread. Fiirst get Tasker, Note buddy , and secure settings. Then follow the pictures. The last one hold on the task you created to add an exit task. That can be set the same way with the exception of choosing Samsung keyboard so putting the pen back goes back to your regular Keyboard.
Edit:
Wow those uploaded out of order. Ok add a new context the selects state, plugin, Note buddy. set it to pen detached, Then back out add a new task and select plugin secure settings. then define it select system actions, input method, stylus beta then save. then back out. Long press on first task and add exit task. same tiny but with the san sung keyboard.

pen app
I like snap pad. Handy app to scribble and make quick notes.

[Q] The 'nice feature's thread.

Just got my One X and had a quick glance before tea. You guys found any cool features or tips/tricks? Decent apps maybe?
Share the wealth.
I can't recommend the xda app enough
I've changed my keyboard to swiftkey x and love it more compared to stock. Just feels easier to type with all this screen space. Only thing I can really recommend so far, I haven't entirely got it all setup how I'd like yet as I've been switching between my sg2.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
One nice touch is pinch / zoom in the message app. Sometimes if I go out without my glasses, under certain lights I struggle. Just being able to resize text on the fly without messing with setting options is great.
Although it's a little bit old now, I love quick controls on stock browser. Enough to make me stick with it over chrome....for now anyway.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Definitely replace the browser! I like Smart Keyboard Pro but there are many good ones.
Neat tricks in sense... in the gallery there is a dropdown box to browse your/other peoples facebook galleries without having to use that steaming pile of a facebook app. Soundhound integration into radio app/widget is nice. Love the lockscreen when you get an sms/email etc.
M.
"guest mode"
anybody knows how to enable it? cannot seem to find it
some valuable 3rd party apps:
1tap cleaner - configurable to auto clean cache as frequent as every hour
screen off & lock - i personally put it on the dock so i don't have to always reach the power button
wifi file explorer - wireless data transfer
screebl - even you set your screen timeout to 15seconds, the screen won't time out as long as you handle your phone to the angle/axis you set on the configuration, good for reading on internet or books
I love the fact you can take pic from recorded video, brilliant.
Screenshot power+home...
Lovely as we had to struggle to take a Screenshot back in my IncS days

i didnt know about this!!
yup I think its what they call HTC gestures, wish they ate detailed somewhere
but one thing I suspect gestures mode seems to confuse the browser
OK, here's are two cool ones for you:
1. Quick Uninstall: from the app drawer, tap & hold on any "un-installable" app, you'll see the the bar at the top of the screen change to Cancel and Uninstall. Drag to Uninstall, confirm.... DONE. Compare this to Android's default behaviour!
2. Go to the Gallery app, pick a pitcure, tap Edit->Effects. Apply any effect, first, then tap Edit at the top right corner. You get to adjust Exposure, Sharpness, Contrast, Saturation, Vignette, add and combine MORE filters etc... and when you're done, you can save your adjustments as a NEW PRESET!
Awesome, yes?

This one has been around since Sense 3.0. You don't even need to scroll, just tap with two fingers at the relevant spot on the screen (tap on the bottom will take you to bottom entries, top to top entries!). You can also use it in:
- People - Scrolls by letter
- Dialer - Scrolls by letter
- Most other apps scroll by Date: Gallery, Messaging, Mail...
Cheers

Don't forget to change the Keyboard to Swiftkey!
If you don't want to buy the app : there is currently a free beta running for Swiftkey 3.0 -> http://vip.swiftkey.net

wow I did not know about that too!! Love such small nifty functions
I know ICS added the data usage feature where you can track and set limits for mobile data, but it seems HTC have extended on that to include a minute monitor and also SMS/MMS.
Very handy for people that don't want to be hit with a big bill

I'm with you on that. Been using SwiftKey for a long time, and the new beta has somehow managed to improve on an already amazing keyboard. Plus the new Cobalt theme looks gorgeous on the One X's screen.

[/quote]
I can't really get away with swiping to write. I used to use Swype back on Symbian/S60, but I much prefer SwiftKey's predictive text. Once you've used it for a little while (and it's learned from your emails/texts/social networking), you only really have to type the first couple of letters of a word for it to supply what you want. And if you're really predictable (or boring?) like me, once you've got the first word or two you can get through the bulk of a sentence with only one tap for each subsequent word. I struggle without it now, because it removes so much thought from typing on the phone keyboard.
Although we are kind of straying away from the 'nice features of the phone' discussion

*NOTE* - If you wish to know what the best app is regarding your needs, ask in this thread and I, or others, will be able to help you out.
So, if you want to know what the best music player is, ask here and I'll suggest the best ones available.
If there are any apps that you feel shouldn't be in this list, please let me know and suggest a better one. I can then test it and maybe add it to the list, in place of the other one.
If you don't suggest a better app, I won't change anything.
Must Have Apps on the Galaxy SIII
Due to popular demand via PMs, I've decided to add a slot to this thread to display some of the best games we can get on our Android device.
As with the app list above, if there's a great game you'd like to be added to this list, let me know and I may well add it in
1. Pool Break Lite - If you like to play pool, snooker, billiards etc. on the go then this is a great app you. There are a few different variations to play in either single player or multiplayer online mode and even more variations if you buy the pro version.
2. FIFA 12 - This game speaks for itself. It's the latest mobile version of the FIFA franchise and is easily the best so far, with it showing vast improvements. There's a load of different cups and leagues to play through and with great graphics with no lag in the slightest.
3. World Series Of Poker - Probably the best game from EA (in my opinion). If you like to play poker I totally recommend this game. You can play Texas Holdem and Omaha in either cash games, tournaments or play for a WSOP bracelet as the main prize. Guest mode is now available for no login from Facebook is needed.
4. iAssociate2 - This is a good choice if you prefer a bit of a brain tester. iAssociate2 is a word association game you have to figure out which words and phrases are associated to each other. Sound easy? Give it a try and you can soon find out differently.
5. Need For Speed Most Wanted - Another brilliant addition to the EA family, Most Wanted finally brings one of the best racing experiences to Android. It's a brilliant game all round but the only thing it's lacking, in my opinion, is 'free roam' mode. But apart from that, it brings brilliant graphics and flawless gameplay.
6. Grand Theft Auto III - Grand Theft Auto III was a crime game which changed the future of gaming and is amazing to play on the go with our Androids. The full console game with great graphics, full features and surprisingly no lag considering it's such a huge game. Countless hours of gameplay, HD quality resolution and visually stunning graphics make this a must for our devices.
Must Have Apps on the Galaxy SIII
The idea to add widgets into this thread aswell was an idea taken from Goku80 and I hope you lot like it.
So, the list in this post is strictly for widgets. I'll add some widgets myself as a base, but as always feel free to suggest some of your favorite widgets and they may make it into this list.
1. Beautiful Widgets - Beautiful set of Widgets containing clock widget, clock and weather widget, weather widgets, date widgets and toggle widgets with skins/themes support!
2. Fancy Widgets - Personalize your Android home screen with highly customizable clock widgets, weather widgets, home (clock & weather) widgets, forecast widgets, and more with lots of customization options.
3. Ultimate custom widget (UCCW) - If you enjoy customizing the look of your homescreen then this is pretty much a MUST HAVE app for you. It allows the user to create their own pure custom clocks with a near endless array of options to customize it how they'd like. However you want it, you can make it with UCCW.
4. Desktop VisualizeR - Here's another really useful widget if you love to customize your screens. This gives you the ability to make shortcuts and widgets with any image you specify, rather than just the default logos. You can also use this app to give apps a custom icon of your own, which is handy if your icon design doesn't currently exist.
5. Minimalistic Text - Minimalistic Text is a widget app that displays information in a minimalistic way. It can be configured to display time, date, battery and weather information. The layout of the widget is highly customizable throughout.
6. Eye In The Sky Weather - This is for all those who like their weather clean, simple and beautiful. The app includes 12 of the best weather icon sets and the ability to add your own icon sets.

Notifier pro plus---gives you repeat notifications for apps you choose. great for when you get certain events or notifications you dont want to miss
auto wifi toggle-- lets you set up times through out the day that it triggers wifi. if there is no connection with in a set amount of time it turns back off. great for people who like to be connected to wifi. saves battery because wifi isnt always on.
screen on app that keeps the screen on when in apps you choose. great for well pretty much every app that you want the screen to stay on
screen caster app that records the android screen. great for if you want to show a but to a dev or show an app to a friend. you can record the screen, it can also record your voice so you can explain whats going on. you can then load it to youtube.
droid wall great security app that actually works. when set up it block incoming and outgoing data connections. with this app you can ensure that none of your data is leaving your phone with out you knowing. note that if one of your apps isnt working you may need to check what you have set up.
Lux auto brightness a screen brightness app that works very wekk when set up properly. helps me save battery. also great for at night with a loer brightness. the screen no longer hurts my eyes when i first turn it on.
Smart screen off good app for turning off the screen. uses the proximity sensor to turn off the screen if its covered for a certain period of time. great so you dont pocket dial!
this is just some of my collection that ive been gathering over the years.
most of these app are paid apps but trust me they are good ones.
hope you like them!!!!
If you want a security app, how about Cerberus?
LBE Privacy Guard is a great security app as well. Allows you to manage and change any permission on any app. For example, if some apps want GPS (Angry Birds Space) and will automatically turn it on for location based ads, you deny it right off the bat.
Anytime you install an app from the store, a notification will allow you to manage the permissions for that app before you ever launch it.
Another one would be Avast. A security app that does all kinds of things I don't even know what they are. Have the ability to install at kernel level if rooted too, which could be beneficial.
Zedge should probably be in there somewhere.
Never really used romtoolbox.. I've never had a reason..

I'm not gonna be adding any lockscreens or launchers to the list because there's already tons of threads on each forum that go into detail about them. You're all welcome to post them in your own list as a couple of you have
I'm not too sure on which security app I'll add yet because I haven't really tried many yet.
I'm also undecided about a wallpapers app at the moment. I used to use Zedge until I found out about PicSpeed HD Wallpapers and I've used it since. Then there's Wallbase HD Wallpapers that FrameCityJackal mentioned aswell.
Any other wallpaper apps I should check out?

Coexistence of multiview with floating/resizable apps

I just bought the t-mobile GN2 (for a second time) since it now could upgrade such that multi-view works. For fun, while using the multiview split screen I tried to use "wave launcher". It turns out, if you open an app like terminal it fills the screen and the app works fine. When you exit that app, it puts you back where you were with the multiview split screen. Now if instead you open an app like floating browser or hovernote using wave launcher it works on top of the multiview but is re-sizable so it does not fill the screen. So the multiview can coexist with some floating apps. Another weird thing is that some of the floating apps actually appeared in the multi-view launcher but I didn't put them there!. Indeed, I could launch the floating app from this launcher and still use the multiview feature at the same time. I just just thought it cool if in the future one could simultaneously use multiview feature and something like swipepad or wave launcher to open other apps such that they can appear in floating windows.
(Note, I made a similar post in the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 forum (themes and apps) in relation to very nice work by xperiacle concerning mods for floating/reziable apps for the N7000. If this topic interests you I recommend following his work.)

Thanks. I was familiar with the video. It is really informative. In general, what I'm describing in my post would only enhance the GN2's capability as a PC substitute.

OmniSwitch and Note 4 Screen Resize Features

Is there a Rom or Intl Rom(9005) which have Note 4 features for our beloved Note 3. Any idea OmniSwitch works as intended on TouchWiz? I am sticking with AOSP PAC and missing the S Pen, Camera and One Hand.

Yeah, actually I am using OmniSnitch on my N3 and it works great. I actually found the app as an inclusion (system app) in the ROM that I flashed on the Note 10.1 2014 (p607t). The ROM is xKat, and was actually built for the p605 (international LTE variant), but awesomely, the hardware that T-Mobile sells is simply a re-branded p605 so any development work for the p605 works fine on the Tmo hardware :good:
Anyway, OmniSnitch is a great, super-useful app. I actually froze flashbarservice and replaced the multi window feature on the side of my screen with OmniSnitch, Flippr (another awesome app that allows you to access widgets or shortcuts from any page - even games. Crazy useful for "remote" widgets like Yatse, AnyMote, etc.) and PIE.
I'm not really sure about your first question, as I'm a Tweaked devotee, but can definitely confirm that OmniSnitch works fantastically, I don't see why it couldn't be installed on any phone / ROM. I don't think it even needs root.
@jazzmachine Thats great! Is there a HALO kind of thing available for TouchWIZ Note?
Why yes there is, and I happen to use it since it's much more versatile than split windows or pen windows. I was actually going to mention that in my last post, guess I should have
Just installing the XHalo xposed module gets the job done. One example of a nice feature it adds is that if you open up an app via tapping on a notification, no matter if your at your launcher or have any app running, the app will open up in a window on top of whatever app you're using at the time. If you long tap a notification, in addition to being able to open App Info, you now also have the option to "open the app normally", which is self explanatory. You can also select a group of frequently used apps and tick the option to display them in the notification panel, then you can insta-launch them in a halo window from anywhere. After installing the XHalo module, don't reboot yet because there's one more module you need (for full functionality.... Halo works w/o it, but the windows won't be resizeable or movable, like they're supposed to be, if you don't also install the module "FixVisabilityOfMultipleFullScreenActivites". Basically what that one does is it fixes the visibility of multiple full screen activities.
JK, well, that is what it does, but the effect is that Halo works properly. Before installing that my halo windows were always statically positioned in the center of the screen and the didn't have the bar at the top that allows moving or resizing the window. It also allows you to open multiple Halo windows, IOW, it just fixes Halo to act like it's supposed to. If your setup is similar to mine, and you "repurpose" the edges of your screen, and you don't really use native mutliwindow (I have a ton of apps installed, and since certain ROMS (Tweaked) auto-add all apps to the sidebar and penwindow launcher, particularly the latter would take like, a while, to launch. There's no lag whatsoever with this modified (and more functional IMO) setup. Anyway, I was going to recommend freezing flashbarservice (multi window) in Titanium of something. For me, doing that released a good chunk of RAM, so if you don't use, or are trying to replace the multi-window functionality, definitely freeze if you're not using. Additionally, the frees the long press back for reassignment to another function, should you be inclined to do so. I reassign the hell out of my hard keys, even adding an activity to just pulling the S pen out and pushing it back in.
Modified S Pen functionality is the last thing I'll describe about my setup, so that this time I can answer before you ask I REALLY like GMD S Pen Control. I turned off air command, and have been working on and off on configuring that app with the goal of being able to launch anything (even obscure "secret code" menus) just by scribbling something on my screen. It's awesome, you just have to get into the habit of using the paths that you've configured regularly so that you don't forget them. So far I've just configured launching frequently used apps and settings toggles (the app also allows you to create, I think 5 launcher bars w/ 8 items (actions, tasks, shortcuts, toggles, a ton of stuff) each of which you can launch, of course, with a pen path).
So with my setup, I've pretty much taken the "Touch" out of the "Wiz".... wait, no, the "Wiz" ou... err, that's much worse. OK, first and last time using any variation of that description. what I'm saying here is that the TW "features" that I've replaced could be used on any device / ROM... so perhaps I've got my eye on an Nexus 6. Well, it was in my field of vision when I was playing with the N4 in the store yesterday (I can't resist activating dev mode on store demos... I mean I like to take a look at the settings there, but it's a thing.... if I pick up a demo model, I'm in About device tapping on the build #) on the N4 I was surprised to see that one of the first options was toggling the runtime between Dalvik and ART, but I didn't think the N4 was able to use ART yet, so I turned it on and the phone rebooted... I then saw the guy who's helped me out the most there was free so I went over to talk to him and ask a few questions and I forgot to check out the N4 set to ART before I took off. Really wish I did, but whatevers. I'll likely have my very own (hand picked perfection, totally perfect uniform display :victory:
So that was pretty OT, this a little less, but a complaint that I keep seeing about the N4 is lag with the recents panel launched. OmniSnitch seems like the perfect app to avoid that issue. For those unfamiliar, OmniSnitch is launched via a persistent (customizeable) half bubble / handle thing. A bar opens up (on any screen) and first you have a row of recently used apps. You can also assign persistent "favorites" that you can launch by tapping the arrow below the row of app icons, and you can immediately switch to a previous app or launch a favorite instanly - Lag + recent apps + OmniSnitch = complete non-issue. Attached a couple screen of how it looks (I don't think the app icons would be themed if you don't use Unicon, I'm not really sure about the general availability of this app. I actually pulled it off of the ROM that I installed on my Note 10.1 - so system app on tablet, but user app on phone. Works the same either way. I'd be happy to upload it, but don't feel like I should do so without permission from... I have no idea. Searching the Play store, the only result is called Fancy Switcher, which looks like a not so successful attempt to copy the app and (unnecessarily IMO) 'fancy it up'. Meh. So hopefully it's available on xda somewhere, but if anyone happens to know the dev if they could ask if they mind their app being shared in this thread, then write up a statement to that effect, both of you sign it (in blood), and send it to me via certified mail... I don't know. If people want it but can't find it, try to find out if it's FOSS, or GPLed or something, just post in here and if it's cool I'm happy to share

[Q] S-pen detached shortcut not working

Hi all
I run a stock firmware 4.4.4 on a rooted Italian device.
One of my most used option out of this amazing tablet, was the auto S-note memo opening when I would detach the S-pen. A small window with a new S-note file would open every time I detached the pen, giving me the possibility of sketching or writing and saving very quickly.
The problem is that this option is not anymore in the setting menu and this useful shortcut doesn't work anymore. When I detach the S-pen a little menu opens in my drop down menu asking me if I want to add a shortcut, showing me some options - basically my most used apps - but not my sweet memo anymore.
I was used to take quite a lot of notes on the fly and I would like to be able to do it again.
Is there any option to get it back somehow?
Thank you all

Try downloading S Pen Launcher app from the Play Store. It will allow you to select any app to open upon detaching the S Pen. There are other apps that do this as well such as S Pen Toolbox which is also in the Play Store.
Hope this helps.
