Hi guys,
So i would love to purchase a Nokia N1 but it seems that the Taiwanese version is ultra rare and I really need google play services.
Anyway I have been looking on the forums and its been a long time since I have flashed anything and I am a bit scared about all the horror stories of bricked N1's and the lack of very clear noob guides on how to convert to Tawienese firware and actual have it working without issue.
Can any one tell me if it is worth purchasing the chinese version and will I actually be able to get it play services working or is it too much of a hassle for a noob and still too unstable when flashed?
I also wondered if the packaging label for the taiwan model differs from the chinese model? Is the Taiwanese model manufactured in Shenzhen or in Taiwan?
I have a picture of the label of the one I was going to purchase but I think it may be chinese version....
Any info and help identifying it would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks
ship with Android 5.0 can flash Taiwanese version even if it is Chinese version.
I cannot recommend at buying Nokia N1. Device itself is fantastic but I cannot say the same about software. If you get the Chinese version with Android 5.1.1 (very likely) there is no way to downgrade it to previous 5.0 Android version that can be rooted. Without root there is no Google Play. There are some guides how to downgrade 5.1.1 version to 5.0 but you will only brick your device if trying any of those methods. There is almost zero community support for Nokia N1 and because of this I don't believe we are ever going to see a root for newer Android 5.1.1 version.
If you need Google Play (Android device without Google Play is a crap) please do yourself a favor and buy something else like Samsung Galaxy S2 8.0

Thanks for the info. I ended up finding a real nokia N1 on eBay from taiwan with Googleplay services installed, so all good. Don't need root so think I will just update normally through OTA. Should be OK I think. I agree chinese one looks like too much hassle.
Hello to everybody, I hope that You can help me.
Currently, I'm using a Chinese Firmware because with it I have a better experience but I'm trying to find an update to Android 6 and I can't get it...
Does anyone can Help me to update one of this Firmwares?
I read that "maimang 4" is the name of our terminal in China instead of G8 or G7 Plus, but you can find the Firmwares writing both Maimang 4 or Huawei G7 plus.
Hey guys.
I recently picked up a Moto Z play for about $AU320 online from a Chinese store.
I didn't realize it would be different from the version I'd get here in Australia (yes very careless of me not to research)
I'd like to get it as close as possible to a stock Australian Moto ZP .
Here are some details -
Model Number - Moto Z Play
Software Variant - retcn
Software Channel - retcn
Android ver - 6.0.1
Security Patch - July 2016
Build Number - MCN24-5
Could I somehow set it up so it gets OTA security updates or is that a bridge too far?
Thanks for any help - appreciate it more than you could know.
I did the whole root/roms thing with my old S3 but that was a long time ago.
I think my bootloader might already be unlocked? Couldn’t download Netflix from play store.
It’s a brilliant phone. The battery blows my mind after coming from a 5X.

Hi all new to the forum, looks like a great place to get help and support for android tablets and phones.
I have Huawei MediaPad M2-A01w. Great little tablet had it for the last 11 months or so with no problems at all
Yesterday i decided to do a clean install of the firmware and accidentally flashed the chinese rom meaning I have an app call HiApp instead of google play and youtube is the chinese version.
I have tried the western europe firmware (I'm in the UK) and it says Version Check failed. Software install failed. Incompatibilty with current version. Please download the correct update package.
Is there anyway I can recover this unit or is it bricked.
Regards
Hard to look up something. There is a chance going the way I described in my thread about the stock ROM for M2-A01L LTE variant, called dload variant.
But you'd need the appropriate ROM. The current one for your specific device would be M2-A01wV100R001C100B008CUSTC100D001. Unfortunately it is only available on a payed service portal, as are many stock ROMs nowadays.

There is a way to unbrick your tablet. Let me know if still interested.
Hi guys,
i got a huawei p10 (VTR-L09) with a retail app installed which kind of is pre-installed, is there a way to overwrite this with a (non-retail) vanilla Firmware?
Appreciate any help / advice to the right firmware to use.
