Digitalizer not working, use it via pc? - Sony Xperia ZL

Hello there; I just got a used xperia ZL Broken. Main reason is to change the battery for the one I've got since it has the sudden power off problem, but that's another issue and I'll be posting results, lots of us are waiting for them.
What I want to do here is know if there's a way to use the broken phone vía pc since it's screen is smashed ( 1/4 of the digitalizer is not working, bottom part ) .
Is there any soft or way I can make it use? I since wanna use it as a media player for my TV / Sound system.
Regards!

nice one!, still hard to get there whithout the bottom digitalizer working...
We'll see...

You should be able to access the settings menus from the nonotification panel. And Bluetooth connections are at the top of the menu so you should be ok. Just make sure there aren't a bunch of other Bluetooth devices it can detect, or it might push those accessories to the bottom of the list where the display doesn't work

Does anyone else get the letters "ty" when you open the keyboard?

It happens to me quite a bit when i open up the keyboard..sometimes i'll get just a "t", lots of times "ty." I don't think it's a coincidence that they happen to be the 2 top most centered keys, but I don't think the casing is rubbing and pressing the buttons. Is anyone else experiencing this? It is pretty annoying cause you always have to delete them before you type anything
i get them as well since i last updated (CRC r11.0)
same rom as me...
hmmm....better check in that thread
Mine does it as well using TNT's Rom. I don't think it's rom related, as every ROM I've used has done this.
It may not look like it, but I'm betting your casing it rubbing. I know mine is by using dry erase marker and seeing the transfer on the T and Y keys.
Good luck
lol.. i get them also.. but it only happens sometimes...
im using FARIA-R32-XDA2 rom
Yea, sitting here playing with mine, you're right, only sometimes. Seems it depends how I open the slide, how it torques, etc.
TY
No... It never hppened to me, actually... No matter what ROM I use...
I wish I could help.
Iim sorry...
Cheers.
Your phone is thanking you for installing a new rom! TY!

Hello Together,
I think it is a hardware problem. When push with your thumbs on the bottom of the screen while you slide out the keyboard (this is my normal methode to slide it out) you push the characters T and Y because they are in the middle of the upper row.
I wonder if it is possible to lock the buttons (in software) till the slider is out completely (when the screen rotates). Does anyone know a register or software solution?
Greetings Pudl
yes its a hardware problem...your keyboard cable is a bit loose probably...
you have to take your phone apart to fix that
its the bottom left ribbon cable with a flat silver plate that u need to unplug when u seperate the motherboard
and the screen rotation is activated by some magnetic thingy if i remember correctly
hehe,i also think it's the hardware problem

[Q] Broken Phone - Strange Symptoms

After two years of use my Desire HD has developed some strange problems after I dropped it. The volume rocker does not work, the WiFi and bluetooth dont work and finally the strangest problem, that the keyboard does not come on when you want to input text for any App. The screen and touch input work without fault, scolling and selecting icons without problem. Making phone calls and internet connection seems to be OK as well.
I suspect I have damaged the motherboard or some other hardware, so before I buy a new phone I was wondering if anyone else had any of these problems and if so was it easily fixed.
Cheers

i knw this may sound strange but try flashing another ROM first, worth giving a try..
I did as you advised, which fixed the keyboard problem. The other faults are still evident so I guess I have damaged some hardware or cable. At least I can now use the phone to text message.
I will have to have someone take a look at the inside of the phone. Checked a diss amble video out and it looks complicated.

Using keyboard with Gamepad?

Hi there i have the R800i and recently my digitizer has broke so unable to use the touchscreen i will be getting it repaired shortly. But the phone for now is still useable but i want to know is there a way of using the keyboard navigating it with the gamepad as this is the only reason to stop using the phone. No you cant. There is no app for this function as well.

[Q] USB Keyboard support

I have tried two different USB keyboards (Cherry evolution stream XT, Cherry G80-3000) but none of them seems to work.
Both keyboards are working when connected to a pc. The OUYA usb port recognizes my mouse. So I guess it has to be a software problem.
Anybody else encoutering similar problems or having an idea to solve this issue?
I didn't find a single thread where a corded USB keyboard didn't work. I have no other keyboard to test .

In advanced settings there's only the ouya keyboard. I cannot switch the input method.

Even with the keyboard attached? Do you connect the keyboard before booting up?
I've been using the Asus keyboard from my pc with no issues. When connected there is always the option to enable and disable it.

I have had problems in this area as well. For me pulling the power, plugging in the keyboard, and then putting the power back seems to work a lot of the time. Sometimes it is just a matter of doing it a bunch of time until the keyboard is finally recognized. To me, this issue speaks to the build quality and software quality of the Ouya in general. Stuff like this makes the Ouya pain in the a** for the masses.

What about using the power button to initiate a real shut down before attaching the keyboard.
It seems the OUYA is not built using parts from a single manufacturer and that has a lot to do with inconsistent performance.

I tried everything mentioned in this thread at least a few times with the two different keyboards with no effect.
I pulled the cord, plugged both keyboards in and turned it on. Powered it off with the hardware button and pluged the keyboard in. Searched the options for any signs of a keyboard that is connected but just not activated.
I also tried different builts (there was an auto update). None seems to work.
This box is a pain in the a%&. I seem to have a very *****y ouya. XBMC is not working quite well too.
Using a hub

No. I tried using a hub as a fix but it didn't help.
I'm absolutely clueless.
I guess installing a custom rom or a bootloader is no option without a working keyboard. The OUYA seems to be a complete waste of time and money so far. Only crap games, worst "store"/rom ever, loud fan, controller with input lag and XBMC not working properly. Unfortunately people seem to have recognized how bad this thing is, where I live the resell value is free falling.

I am at a loss as well. I'm not sure how attached you are to your current install on the OUYA but you could try to sideload the latest OTA. I am pretty sure you can do all that without a USB keyboard attached via ADB. You could also fastboot CWM and see if it is recognized then. Just a couple shot in the dark idea but as if a mouse works, the USB port must be working.
I borrowed a logitech keyboard from a friend and it's working like a charm.
The problem seems to be "cherry only".
That sucks. Now I have to buy a new keyboard for this crapcube since my friend needs his keyboard.
Thanks for the advices to everyone.

I have the same problem since a few months. I've changed the flex for a new one and that fix it for a week. Then it happened again. It recurrently happens after the battery gets totally empty, and when you power in again the touch pad doesn't work. I'm actually using aurora play rom, and I'm going to restore the stock rom, I have the feel that there will be the problem, but no sure. I would like to know if you have problems with your battery too. For example, when I connect via usb cable to my pc or the ac'adapter, it turns the phone slow and some times it shut down immediately. what have you done before to get the touch again, because you said it happened again? and are u using stock or a custom rom? It maybe help me to help you. Well finally a have the same problem. If I can solved I'll give you a better answer. Sorry because the writing I'm Latin american and my English it's poor.
Slider flex cable again?
Anyway, only way that i found that can be used for answering/ending calls is xposed module called "xposed additions". Very few options in it, but it can bound any key to be used as answering key.
It is working on stock rom, with xposed framework for GB installed.
You can find apk of it in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44034334 and actual module you can download from XF app itself (you only need root, but that is pritty much easy these days)
Only down-side is that front buttons can't wake device, only power button. But since you unlock by sliding out, it won't affect you. I personaly have search key enabled for calls, but even home or menu key can be used.
Also, check keyboard at
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tomjenkinson.emergencykeyboard
You can use it for texting. It will be slow, but better then nothing
