Hi all,
I often use my tab in an upside down landscape view when charging port is at the top). I typically do this if i need to charge it and use it at the same time. The cable, imho, is simply more manageable. After a reboot, I noticed two things:
1. the lock screen only displays in portrait mode and won't rotate.
2. once unlocked the tab display will rotate 270 degrees, every way but upside down landscape
3. the hard button behavior has changed. a long press offers a power off menu, whereas before it displayed recent apps
I'm not aware of any settings i changed, nor did i add, remove, or alter any apps.
the device has been rooted for several months running the stock rom without a glitch.
Any suggeations would be deeply appreciated.
If you installed wanam, it defaults to that, you could play around with wanam lock screen and system settings

That was exactly it, problem solved. I may have changed something some time ago and never rebooted. Thank you so much!

This may be a known issue, but I've found nothing through searching the forum or Google.
Running GedeROM, and everything works perfectly. Netflix plays well, but won't go full screen. When it first starts, the soft buttons are visible, as always. A few seconds in, the buttons hide, but netflix does not resize to fill the screen, so I have a half inch border around whatever is playing.
This is not a big deal but, with a seven inch screen, I'd like to be able to use as much of the screen as possible.
Is anyone else having this problem, and is there a known fix or different ROM recommendation?
Thanks in advance!
If your having the problem of netflix only being in portrait mode try toggling the screen rotation back and forth this should allow it to rotate to landscape mode sometimes it gets a little sticky also make sure you have 180 degree rotation enabled.
Thanks, but that's not the problem. Switching from protrait to landscape IS sticky, but does work
Netflix firsts starts filling MOST of the screen, except for the bottom half inch with the Back, Home and Multitask switcher buttons visible. After 3 seconds, these buttons shrink off the screen but the picture doesn't expand to fill the space vacated by the disappearance of the soft buttons.
Works fine on the phone and other devices...
Oh, I should mention that my other devices are running variants of Gingerbread, and in one case Froyo. This may be a function of ICS.
Being that gedeRom has true fullscreen maybe there is a feature that you don't have enabled auto hide or something of that nature maybe someone would know better than I cause I don't run gede have but not presently
Have you tried holding the power button a few seconds and then choosing to hide the status bar?
Do you have auto hide enabled under system in the settings menu?

Thanks, Desanko. Turns out I'm an idiot. Problem solved!
I realized that the homescreen has some bugs especially if you disable the lock screen from settings..
It happened a few time in the past few days..
When I click the home button, the device is on, and I do not need to unlock it since the lockscreen is disabled.
Sometimes, after turning the phone screen on, all my homescreen widgets and the bottom shortcut bar(phone, contact, message, menu) would start to flashing like crazy...
The phone is still responsive, e.g. opening menus, change settings, top menu bar still slides down and up fine, everything is fine operationally except for the flashing widgets and bottom shortcuts..
I turned the screen off and back on, same flashing is present..
I have to power off the phone or restart the phone and it will return back to normal..
I believe this is definitely a software bug... Anyone familiar with this bug?
Are you running stock or are you rooted with a custom recovery?

UPDATE:
Also I found out exactly what is triggering this issue..
It has to do with the Developers Options under the Do Not Keep Activities and Background Process Limit..
I am experiencing this issue only when I tick Do Not Keep Activities, and set the Background Process Limit to No Background Process...
Also, today another issue showed up with the same 2 settings ticked Do Not Keep Activities, and set the Background Process Limit to No Background Process.
Basically what it happened is that when I turn on my phone, and open windows such as messages and settings, the phone would automatically attempt to close it down after 2-3 seconds... Also due this time, I received a message, my message tone changed back to the bird chirp default message tone rather than the Pure Bell message tone I setup previously.. When I manage to open the sound settings, I took a quick look and it was still set to Pure Bell, and after a second or so, the phone closed the entire settings window down...
I just press hole the power and click on Restart...
Now the phone reboots, and the phone is back to normal...
When I went back to sound settings, all my own settings are still there
BUT
When I went to the Developer Options, the setting for Do Not Keep Activities, and Background Process Limit where back to the default values.. (Do Not Keep Activities is not UNTICKED, and Background Process Limit is set to Standard Limit automatically by my phone after the reboot.)
I thought it was weird how the phone changed my settings after reboot, and the OS acts weird before I rebooted...
After using it through out today with the default settings for Do Not Keep Activities, and the Background Process Limit, my phone is acting fine.....
Pretty sure this is a SW bug, it is not a HW problem..
I think it did exactly what it should do with those developer options enabled. That was a very aggressive setting use used and does not represent normal operation of the software.

So this is a known issue?
Yes, pretty much Developer Options are pretty unstable...
The only setting I kept for are Mock Location (for those apps that use GPS without my permission) and the Animation options to 0.5x so the animation is faster.
Turning the Mock Location and Changing Animation Settings do not seem to affect the stability of the Stock ROM
Why on earth would anyone with a phone this powerful want to use those two options anyways!? I would say yes u have those problems with those options on... you have plenty of resources so don't do that to your phone and yes those are "developer options" and typically only temporary testing scenarios for "developers" just leave at default and be happy with much better working phone!

I use those 2 memory clearing options just to extend battery life.
I've had this issue before on my LG Power (Straight Talk branded LG Leon), running on Lollipop 5.0. No matter what I look for I can't find anyone who's experienced similar issues.
It just happened last night on my 5-day old Nexus. I could not open any of my folders to access apps. As soon as a touched a folder, it briefly showed the animation to open it, and it immediately closed. Whenever I selected a widget or the app drawer, they would immediately close as well. When I attempted to swipe down the notification/quick settings shade, they immediately closed themselves. Turning off the screen resulted in the screen immediately turning back on, albeit locked. I was even having trouble turning the device off because the 'Power Off' menu would disappear right after it popped up. Eventually I was able to time it right and was able to power off. Since I restarted I have not have any issues.
Any idea what gives? I'm unrooted, locked bootloader, everything 100% stock, running MM 6.0.1.
the only explanations i can come up with are:
-accidental touching the area in some way (unlikely)
-getting some substance stuck on the screen in that area (unlikely)
-a faulty touch panel (unlikely and very specific defect)
-a hickup in the software (again unlikely)
then again, if the OS (for whatever reason) thinks the home button is pressed, on default it should not only pull you back to the homescreen, but continue and send you right through to google. the conclusion of which would be, that this UI area is triggered repeatedly rather than continuously.
keep an eye out for what could have triggered it in case it occurs again.
check your settings what build exactly you are running (settings -> about phone -> build number).
ans lastly, if it happens again, you should still be able to hold your power button to hard-reboot it (no further interaction with the UI required).

Try to clean your screen also with a towel
That is extremely weird. It really sounds like a faulty digitizer, but you'd be the first... Maybe it's a rogue app, but unlikely.
Were you doing something before this starts to happen?
I haven't noticed any consistent apps or behaviors when this would occur. This most recent time, I was low on battery (10%) and I had just flipped on my data.
fyi. you could also just press and hold the power button, for 10 secs, for a reboot ( might come in handy when the screen isn't working properly).

appreciate the tip! I'll keep this in mind if it happens again.
Finally was able to capture a video. The issue occurred after I was playing around with Open Camera and it crashed. Holding down the power button didn't work when this glitch is happening.

What's the icon on the lock screen, top right in the status bar? That behavior is unusual if it's not a screen defect. Are you using any apps that monitor battery, a task killer, or maybe a security monitor app?

The icon is a picture for my user profile on the phone.
I don't use anything like that. I had Clean Master installed briefly but it's been uninstalled for a couple of days now.
so it seems like this issue pops up whenever the camera crashes. happens occasionally when using the camera shortcut (double power tap) or in an app that uses the camera.
It's got to be software IMO. It didn't happen when you went to Google Now and your Recent Apps. I'd try uninstalling the Open Camera app first. Do you have Face Unlock active by chance? After that I'd FDR...

right, that's what's confusing me. i did a factory reset last week, set up the phone as a new device. haven't installed a new camera app, just the stock google camera. the issue occurred again last night when using an app called Shopkick, which accesses the camera but crashed.
My screen no longer rotates when I turn my phone. I cannot seem to find the setting to change it? Did something change in the most recent update that took away screen rotation? Any help is appreciated.

Try to recovery mode and clear cash
Thid weird issue started today in the morning, first I noticed that the clock widget had changed size, and that the led me know ring around the cam hole was out of place, but, when trying to write in whatsapp, I no longer could make the keyboard to appear by taping the wrinting field, in fact, nothing located in the bottom worked, what is odd, the bottom gestures worked, as I hid the nav bar since day one, tried everything, changed dpi, changed keyboards, retired the screen protector, wiped cache, to no avail, reluctantly, I updated to android 10, but no luck, after digging more, I found a work around, I changed the resolution from quad hd to full hd, now all is normal, but, this is just a work around, not a real solution, somebody have an idea of what would be the reason for this?
Did you have your phone linked to windows, your computer online and the phone screen displayed at that time? In this case, if you chose to use your computer's hardware keyboard in Your phone settings on your computer, then, when trying to write something in whatsapp, the virtual keyboard on your phone is not displayed or it is partially displayed. In my case, using the AI Type keyboard, only the top row of the keyboard was displayed because the app thought I'm using my computer's keyboard.

Thanks for your reply, but no, in fact I have never used the phone in that way, something else caused the issue

Was your phone charging at the time by any chance?
I found the solution!
I had the exact same problem with my note 10 plus, the gestures worked, and I tested the bottom part of the screen to make sure everything was working and it was, but the buttons in apps like instagram at the very bottom of the screen still were unresponsive most of the time. The solution is to ho to your settings, switch the navigation bar to the other gesture variant and then back to you preffered one and it should work. It worked for me.
Thanks man, I just found what triggers the issue, as odd as it seems, changing resolutions from qhd to fhd id what causes the issue, odd, because I used a bixby routine to save power at nights, by setting medium power saving, which among other things, lowered the screen resolution to fhd, when the routine ended, it should reverse to qhd, and that precisely triggered the issue, I used this routine for months, until, out of the blue, it started to cause this problem
