Hello, Samsung users! I have a question for you..
I wonder what happens if you open an app that has fixed rotation and then split the screen to open another app that supports both rotations.. What happens when device is rotated? And what happens if you open the same apps in different order and rotate the device? And what if you open a fixed portrait app and a fixed landscape app?
I just don't know how Samsung handles that kind of weird problems
Anyone? I don't need any solution to any problem! I'm just curious about how Samsung handled rotation for different apps!

As far as I know there are no programs without rotation for the multiwindow. Not in stock 4.1.2. So Samsung solved this problem before it begins
So, they forced rotation for all apps? ._.

No. There are only apps with rotation feature. You can't put an app to the multiwindow sidebar wich can't rotate.
So they restrict user experience.... Nice!
Thanks for your replies, Tryunus!

I don't understand why if i disable screen rotation no apps (ie gogle maps) will rotate!!! Is it possible to have the screen rotation in the apps and not in the home screen?? Is it a bug in 4.2?? Before the upgrade my home screen did not rotate but the apps did. >Why now is different?
Thank you
If you turn auto rotation off, then you won't see auto rotation(obviously)... That is supposed to happen, and always have(that is what that setting is for).
Your homescreen, however, is not supposed to rotate at all, and if it does, I'd have to ask you, whether you are actually running the stock rom or some custom rom, and whether, you are using a different launcher? All of these things could course your homescreen to rotate(on purpose obviously).

Actually I'm using a custom ROM and no launchers but it's almost like a stock, it's the Rigel R6. Sorry but the screen rotation added to the 4.2 what is supposed to do? Before 4.2 there was no screen rotation but the apps were rotating.. now there is the screen rotation and also the Home screen rotate
What is the "stock behavior" of the screen rotation???
Thank you so much!!

there is absolutely no change in screen rotation pattern in 4.2 as far as Galaxy Nexus is concerned.
4.2 only brought changes in screen rotation for tablets. Phones have exactly same behavior as they had in 4.1.2

Yea then it is definitely your rom... This has nothing to do with android as such.
Also it seems like you are confusing a couple of things, but anyway nothing changed in the screen rotation behaviour. Meaning that you will have to ask in the ROM thread if there is a setting specifically for homescreen rotation, and otherwise you will just have to use another rom.

I'm using the latest Hawkish rom and I'm loving it.....apart from the really annoying rotation control button in the gallery, which has to be pressed every time you rotate a photo.
I've noticed this is a feature in a few other roms too.
Could anyone please suggest a way to disable it somehow?
Thanks!

Not sure what you are reffering to for I haven't tested it personally, anyway you could install the stock gallery used by some phones like nexus.
Orrrrrrrrrrr just use QuickPic app from playstore

i've been using quickpic also, which is a great gallery app, but i slightly prefer the stock one. I've tried pushing a stock secGallery2 apk to system/app and changed to correct permissions but it just wont install.
I've tried the note 2 hidden settings app, but that doesn't alter anything either.

Yes QuickPic is different than the stock app because it's better
Did u reboot after setting up permissions?
i've solved my problem, i had another go withe note2 hidden settings app and it removed the rotatation button in the gallery, now the phone will automatically rotate to see a photo in landscape without having to press the rotation button every time.
Just a minor problem but it was really bugging me!

are you having problems with rotation on 4.4 TW? My rotation does not work unless I am watching a video or something. So under SMS it does not rotate when I turn the phone.

I think no values for portrait mode on kitkat same as 4.3.. using my note2 (with note3 pack).. can make it happen with some modification and force auto rotate.. ref HERE
It's been a while I have this problem and I thought it would come some updating, but did not come.
After the last update to the 5.0 when I leave horizontally it is so, as the images, Would anyone have any idea how to solve?
What launcher are u using?
This is not the stock launcher...

I just did root, and rotation used the Ultimate Rotation Control otherwise did not do anything in the UI. I am using the original Optimus UI.

The stock launcher does not support rotation, it is also why the screen will not rotate without third party software (like Ultimate Rotation Control).
So Ultimate Rotation Control is why everything looks messed up.
THX for the answer
Yes, I know about the locked rotation, but the rom 4.1.2 (if I remember correctly) functioned normally also used in my S2 and was normal, some form of APP by correction or something that can be done.
Hi Guys,
I've been trying to figure out how to force the rotation of lockscreen into landscape.
I have tried all rotation control apps, paid and not. However, I can't find what I was looking for.
Ultimate Rotation Control provides near what I was looking for. It can force the lockscreen rotation to any orientation I wanted,
however, once I set the rotation of lockscreen to force landscape always, everytime I unlock my tablet, the home screen which is
locked to Portait was displayed as Landscape for about 2 seconds.
I was thinking that if, it is not only an app. If, it was edited thru the internal system applications, it will provide the smoothness
that I was looking for.
I already tried to edit the framework-res, I still can't find the XML where the lockscreen can be forced to landscape.
Several nights browsing Google hoping that some articles are already there to teach how to edit the lockscreen but I can't see any.
Due to my work overseas, I was not able to focus on this. But now I'm somehow pissed and I wanted my tablet to be the
way I want it, to look the way how I wanted.
Can someone show me the right path to where I should start? I don't mind if it would mean that I should study Android as I am a
software engineer, but just a beginner in java.
Thanks in advance.

Kemaro
I'm using Rotation Control to force landscape. So far so good. Haven't noticed any problems and all apps like Instagram are forced to landscape without any issues.

Why is your lockscreen displaying in portrait anyway it's a landscape device and should display as landscape natively? :what:

The lockscreen of Tab S is always on auto rotate. It is not natively in landscape.
I wanted it to force landscape always but only the lockscreen. As for the home screen, it should be auto rotate.

I'm sorry but that's not what happens on my SM-T805 using Phoenixrom.
The Lockscreen and Homscreen stays natively in landscape and doesn't rotate at all.
I can use a rotation app to auto rotate the home screen, but the lockscreen stays landscape no matter what.
I don't remember it being any different on total stock.

You have the 8.4 version? That is a portrait device. I just assumed it was the 10.1 because you said landscape.
