love this keyboard but have one slight problem. i only use gesture typing & therefore i never get to see what the next words are suggested. the suggested words only appear when a space is entered after a word. when using gesture typing, i never use the space key because it puts the space in for me when i swipe the next word. is there a setting so that the space is inserted automatically after i swipe a word instead of when i swipe the next word?

Does anyone think that a developer will create an application which will allow you to use the zoom-bar for a different functionality, (bit like GScroll) such as a application manager or a scroll control. if so what other functions could it be used for?

I don't have the device yet, but I think it would be great if someone can figure out how to make the zoom bar act as a d-pad like with Gscroll. That is, swipe up for up, swipe left for left, swipe down for down, swipe right for right. You wouldn't be able to use it in apps like games. But I can imagine it would be useful for the following:
-moving cursor around when typing
-scroll though the suggested contacts when you start typing in the "To" field in Messaging
-scroll through the suggested words when you have xt9 enabled
But I guess this is only applicable when the hardware keyboard is hidden since there are arrow keys on the keyboard. Besides, it's probably difficult/impossible for the zoom bar to recognize vertical swipes.
I thought I was on to something when I first started writing this post, but now I feel my idea may not be worth the trouble at all!

Would be nice if the bar was 'split' in two:
the left half is for left/right and the right half is for up/down.
So, each half should be devided into two halves too.
But, for this to work, the actual position of the finger should be known, not only the swipe...
A program like the GScroll AppSwitch would be good to control with the zoom bar, or even a simple way to scroll up and down through menus or things like contacts.
I'm coming from a phone with a trackball... a MyTouch 3G that I had kept current thanks to CyanogenMod. This is much better lol.
I used that trackball though, all the time, mostly for selecting text that I'd screwed up... or to move the cursor between words where I wanted to add a sentence. But sometimes was nice too, for moving to the next form field, or scrolling focus to the "submit" button, etc.
I'm pretty happy with my Swiftkey X keyboard - it's got an option to enable arrow keys. I'm surprised Swype doesn't? I'm used to Swype and really would like to use that.
So my question is twofold:
Any other good keyboards with either a simulated trackpad or arrow keys?
and/or...
How do you live without it? I can adapt if I know the tricks.

Hackers keyboard is nice. Has the four arrows and a number row. Plus you can enlarge or reduce the keys.
The best solution I have found so far is an app called GameKeyboard. The dpad simulates the repeated keypress of a held down arrow key, or joystick (which is essential for many games).
However, it has bugs, and the qwerty mode is slow (you swipe horizontally across the keyboard to switch between gamepad mode and keyboard mode). I enable it specifically for games, and then switch back to my main keyboard (i.e. swype) for everything else.
Here's a link:

in swype there is an arrow option. swype from the swype/option button to the sym/123 button and a arrow keypad comes up. also from sym/123 button to "f" brings up a number pad.

Hi,
the samsung keyboard is great, it has great prediction and response and speed.
however, the only thing that makes me switch to another keyboard, is that it does not automatically select the predicted word by pressing the space bar. you have to tap on the corrected predicted word to inset, otherwise it will insert exactly what you typed (even if misspelled)
so my question is, can i somehow enable auto selecting the predicted word by pressing space bar?
thanks
Prob not...personally I don't like Samsung keyboard...I use ultra keyboard instead...tons of customizations

it is missing the xt9 option
its weird because every other keyboard has it, and also its there in all samsung keyboards in other phones (s2, s3...)
The handwriting recognition engine on the Note 2 is fantastic, however the only thing stopping me from using it all the time is the lack of option for auto-spacing between words. When writing two words on the same "screen" leaving a wide enough gap between words will add a space, but the next word will be juxtaposed to the previous one (unless you draw a horizontal line beforehand)
Is there any solution to this? You'd think auto-spacing would be one of the first things that was implemented in such a feature.
Anyone?
Hitting the spacebar is a lot faster than drawing a line and waiting for the space to appear. I guess there is no way to auto insert a space though.

I have same issue while writing using spen and whenever i draw a horizontal line it is converted into an "underscore _ " which is very very irritating. never able to get a space using horizontal line
Yeah, writing with the S Pen saves time bt this problems slows down my text speed
Anybody knows a solution yet?
This problem is slowing me down.
Found a fix
Try this:
From the keyboard...
1. press and hold the microphone button then select the gear
2. Select "Handwriting"
3. Select "Recognition type"
4. Change it to "Complete recognition"
This does a MUCH better job of seeing words, and putting spaces beten them.
TIP 1: because what you write stays in the writting area, until you tap the "enter" key button, you have to be more aware of where you start writting.
TIP 2: I also made sure "English" was the default "input language" (same menu area) and selected "Update" to make sure the device had an updated word list.
Wow, excellent! Thanks.
Typing this using complete recognition

I'm already using "Complete recognition." But there is no automatic spacing.
If I write say "The quick brown fox" as a complete sentence, the spaces come out correctly between the words except that there is no space after the last word, "fox" which is really quite dumb.
The only way to get a space is to press the spacebar icon. This lack of automatic spacing really slows me down.
Even drawing a horizontal dash, no matter how long a horizontal dash after the word "fox" simply creates a dash as in "The quick brown fox-".
Update:
I found a better solution.
Don't use the Text Recognition mode native to the S-Note App.
Instead, use the Text Mode, ie the Icon with the Underscored T, just on the left of the eraser.
Then use the Handwrting mode in the included Samsung Galaxy Note 2 keyboard. It is much smarter as it keeps the recognized words on the "Writing" area of the keyboard, so you can place a space simply by leaving a space between the words as you write. Left dash to erase works too. Other gestures also work.
You get into the Handwriting mode on the Samsung Keyboard by long pressing the key between Sym and Spacebar.
Have fun and enjoy !
I love the hand writing recognition with the s-pen but can't work out if there is an option for auto spacing after each word.
Anyone know how to do it if possible?
Safe to assume you can't do it?
I believe if you write smaller to where you can write multiple words with clear spaces in between them, it will recognize the spaces. Turning down the recognition time/delay in settings may help too, so it clears the screen for the next word, quicker. I don't have the phone yet so this is just based on the few times that I played around with it. Hope that helps.

Cheers I'll give recognition display setting a go.
It works when you write small but you still have to chuck a space in when the text box fills up
