[Q] Stuck in Recovery Boot after updating TWRP, L710 d2spr - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello,
I downloaded the latest TWRP through goo manager. All seemed ok with no issues noted.
I have/had Slimbean 4.3 and was going to update to 4.4.2 Slimkat but needed to update my recovery.
I downloaded and installed it through Goo Manager
After which I rebooted into recovery and now I'm stuck in the black screen bootloader "RECOVERY BOOTING..."
I tried to reboot and even remove the battery but no go past to where I am.
I have a galaxy s3 L710 d2spr
Any and all help to get out of this will greatly be appreciated.:good::good::good:

maybe try using odin to install this recovery. use this older version i uploaded and flash it with odin. after you get recovery working, download the new version of recovery in zip format on your computer, transfer it to your phone and install it, reboot to recovery and you should be good to go.

Does it matter what version of Odin to use?
v3.09 or 1.85

Do I put the tar file in BOOTLOADER or PDA?

put it in PDA and uncheck auto reboot and f. reset time and make sure your phone is in download mode first. after odin finishes, pull your battery and put it back in, and see if your phone boots up now.

It booted up within seconds without pulling the battery, right to my home screen!! :good: :good: :good: :good:
As I downloaded the twrp through goo manager I am assuming it only downloaded to my device and not flashed, am I correct on that assumption?
I tried looking for the latest twrp but was forwarded or linked to goomanager.
Might you have the file I can download and flash?

Got it. It flashed without a hitch and my home screen showed up. I found the latest twrp in goo manager folder and flashed that. 'Android is upgrading...' apps are optimizing. I rebooted to confirm the latest twrp flash and I got stuck in the "RECOVERY BOOTING..." bootloader AGAIN!
I flashed the previous version of twrp and im not doing this new one, I realized it's doing me problems.
Thanks for your help, greatly appreciated!!
Pardon my french but your are ****in awesome for the help!! :good: :good: :good:

You are welcome. I would recommend trying Philz Recovery if you want to upgrade your recovery. And I think the reason you are having trouble with Goo Manager download is that it is a bad file or download. I've that problem with Goo Manager too many times so i stopped using it.

Issue flashing CWM recovery

Hey guys,
So I just rooted my rogers galaxy s3 and I'm trying to install CWM recovery. My phone isnt on the ROM manager list so I tried flashing it through odin. I've tried about 7 times each with different versions of cwm recovery and odin keeps saying it was a success but whenever I try to go into recovery mode I just go to android system recovery and not CWM recovery. I have no clue why this is happening.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Zach

Download goomanager off playstore... download some random rom (you dont need to flash the rom its only so it gives u the link to the open recovery) you will be asked if you have a recovery installed say no install open recovery they install TWRP on your phone done.. happy flashing

Had the same problems, follow this guide use the latest versions of everything (Odin, etc.). The key is the pulling of the battery after flashing and before you boot. Once I did that I got into CWM no problem.

Yeah I ended up installing TWRP, and I flashed this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766684&highlight=gapps
Good so far!
This is probably the same issue i was having where the stock recovery kept coming back. You will need to rename or delete these two files.

/system/etc/install-recovery.sh

Clock work mod problem, please help

Galaxy S3 from at&t, i rooted my phone as soon as got it several months ago, I've flashed colockwordmode 3 times in the last day or so and i cannot make to work, i followed the steps exactly as described, Odin is showing the green pass, the binary cont is increasing every time I've tried but i can't get the phone to start in recovery mode by holding volume up, home and power! it just reboot and turns the phone on or it goes into the Samsung recovery mode (blue screen). Very frustrating!, anyone can please help.
BTW, when i rooted my phone i installed clockwordmode then and it worked fine, i had not has to use it since, I'm running the stock ROM i want to flash another ROM, before i do that i need to use clockworkmode and that's when i realized that it was not working anymore, then tried to flash it 3 times but no success. I still have root.
Have you tried twrp?

flash recovery again in odin but make sure the "auto reboot" box is NOT checked. once its done flashing, unplug it and remove the battery for a second. replace the battery and immediately hold down vol up+home+power. this should take you into cwm if it flashed correctly
this could happen when you didn't root it properly
anyways, if you are rooted(as you said), get twrp and see
+1 for twrp

If you still have root, you might want to try installing CWM directly from your phone, using the dd terminal command to copy CWM into the right partition:
Download the latest CWM .img file from CWM's site: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Put the file in your phone. For simplicity reason, I would suggest you put it in the root of your internal SD card. And because you will need to type the whole path+filename in the terminal in your phone, I would also suggest you rename the file to something simple, like cwm.img;
If you don't already have it, install Android Terminal Emulator;
Now, open the terminal emulator, and type the following commands:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/cwm.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
(That is, if you rename the CWM file to "cwm.img" and you actually put it in the root of your internal SD card. If you put it somewhere else or did not rename your file, you will need to adapt the "if=" part of the command.)
Profit.

Just curious: are you trying to flash CWM via Odin? If so where did you get it from? Did you install a botched version of stock recovery maybe (or one that is from another model of S3)? Try TWRP from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28019751&postcount=1. It is at the bottom of the post and it is labeled "Odin Flashable TWRP Recovery" under Miscellaneous files. Download and install via Odin.
And if you are on Jelly Bean, your flash counter will increment in your dealings with custom recoveries and roms. You only option at this point (if you have root still) is to get Triangle Away and run it in order to reset the counter. However, even if you clear your flash counter, if you go back into recovery it will trip again.

I'm still using stock ROM, i'd like to install a custom ROM but i'm reading that you have to have Clockworkmod to do a successful install.
When i check in the files of the phone (sd card) i can see the clockwordmod folder in there there but still can't get it to boot into cwm recovery, only the Samsung recovery and I've tried the volume up home and power button so many times but no success.
Why do you think it worked when i first rooted the phone and not now?
this is frustrating, thanks for the help.

Yes I've tried 3 times via Odin, i can't remember where i got the cmw file from, it's a tar file (clockworkmod.TAR), the part i don't understand is why when i first rooted the phone in August cwm worked, i used it to install the root and now after trying to install it again 3 times i can't get it to work.
I'm using the stock ROM, not jelly bean.
thanks for any help

Download goo manager app and open that. There will be an option to "install open recovery" in the menu. Voilà a superior recovery that's easier to use
You can even use it to boot into recovery or install the new update for it.

Easiest way to install TWRP is using GooManager from the Play Store.
1. Open GooManager.
2. Press the menu key to open the contextual menu, and select Install OpenRecoveryScript.
3. The app will ask you to confirm you really want to install a new recovery image.
4. GooManager searches for the correct TWRP build for your device. Look at the Filename line, it should display openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-d2att.img for AT&T or openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-d2can.img for Rogers/Bell/Telus. Again, confirm the installation.
5. Wait for the download to begin. TWRP will install. Done.
If it does not work or if GooManager does not find the correct build for your device -- in this latter case, this should raise a flag for you, as you may not have a SGH-i747/SGH-i747M; double check your phone model --, you can always install TWRP manually. From TWRP website (http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2), you can grab the IMG file to manually install from the terminal emulator, and a TAR file to install using ODIN.

if you have root, download Rom Manager and install cwm from the menu.
i've also heard that, if rooted, you can erase /system/recovery-from-boot.p and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh (using ES File Explorer or Root Explorer) an that will make cwmstick. this is due to newer software versions overwriting your stock recovery on reboot.

Your bootloop is an easy fix if you have not started odin flashing yet.
Just reboot into recovery and select "Factory Reset" then reboot the phone
and most of the time this fixes the problem, I should say at least 8 out 10
booloops can be fixed with a "Factory Reset" then reboot.
Good luck!

[Q] TWRP won't fully load,no OS

Hi everyone. Last night I went to install S3Rx 4.3 TW ROM,i went through the AROMA installer like I have in the past, at the end it went to reboot and got stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy s3" screen, I gave it 15 min's to load. When it didn't load, I rebooted into my recovery which is TWRP (not sure which version" the blue "TeamWin" screen came up and it rebooted, it did this every time I tried to boot into recovery. I then downloaded the newest and some older versions of TWRP to flash via Odin. They all showed that the install passed but the same thing happens every time I try to boot into recovery. Since I updated the bootloader to use the 4.3 TW ROM I can't flash a stock ROM and start over again correct? Any help would be appreciated, i'm at my wits end here and don't know what else to do. Thanks everyone.

Install the latest tar version from here: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2att
Do not unzip the file. Just put it in PDA, disable auto reboot, install, disconnect USB cable from the computer when you see Reset in the status window, pull the battery, replace the battery, and boot into recovery.

PLEASE HELP Note 2 wont boot past Samsung screen!

Hey everyone, 1st off thanks to all the great people here that take there time to help and give back, much love and respect!
So i have a Note 2, i was using it last night, and it just froze! So i waited and waited, nothing! I tried to power down, nothing, so i popped the battery out and it restarted and stayed at "Samsung Galaxy Note II"
I tried many many times to restart and power down, still come back to the same result!
My phone is:
Note 2 SGH-T899V (wind mobile)
I downloaded odin v3.09, i loaded samsung drivers, i downloaded T889VVLUDNE7 from sammobile.
I put phone in download mode, attached cable loaded file from odin(clicked and unclicked all the correct boxes) and everything "Passed" on odin
Phone reset and got stuck again on Samsung screen. So i
Pull out the battery, wait for about 1 minute and then put the battery back in its place.
Boot the device into Stock Recovery mode by holding down Volume Up, Center(menu) button and Power keys till the Samsung logo appears.Use the volume keys to scroll and power keys to select recovery menu options.
From the menu, wipe data by selecting wipe data/factory reset option followed by wipe cache partition. Finally reboot the system by selecting reboot system now.
and still it is stuck in Samsung screen.
I then installed CWM 6.4.3 with no problems, went into recovery wiped user and cache and installed zip from sd card. It would try and then "INSTALLATION ABORTED"
Re Downloaded zip tried again, same thing "INSTALLATION ABORTED"
Flashed CF Auto root, then went into recovery and tried to install from zip and "signature verification failed"
flashed CWM again, tried install "installation aborted"
Guys where am i going wrong, or what step did i miss? Please help!!!
Anyone please help!

And you can only flash zip files in recovery and I think you are trying to flash .tar file using recovery?? Thats y it is not getting flashed..... do this download any latest custom rom zip and flash it via recovery it will surely fix your issues
to what i know it would take some time for a newly flashed android device to boot out of boot logo.

@sachin-sharma the firmwares are all the stock versions for that phone from the original all the way to 4.4.2 and i downloaded from sam mobile site. I do believe the phone does have knox bootloader is there a way for me to disable knox or remove it or work around it?

Just download custom recovery and download custom rom of 4.4.2 and flash via recovery and ur fone will boot up for sure
Most probably u have upgraded ur fone with knox bootloader and now trying to flash non-know enabled firmware or older version know bootloader firmware.... there is no way yet to remove knox bootloader so u need to flash latest firmware using recovery either stock deodexed zip or any custom rom
