Many, if not most, Samsung apps will only run on Samsung based ROMs. I'm not sure you will be able to run the apps you require on an AOSP ROM unless they are adapted to work on your ROM.

If not, which is the latest android version of a samsung based rom?

I was on the same thing when i switched to CM, AOSP.... missed the contacts and dialer and switched back to TW....
Checked the KK roms, and now the only thing i miss now is the radio.

Hi,
I recently flashed my device from the Asian firmware to European firmware. After flashing, i realized that the DioPen Chinese IME is not available as it was available in my device when I first bought it. Is there anyway that I can re-install the input again into the device.
I had try using many 3rd party application in the market, but none of them satisfied me yet. If there is the way to re-install the DioPen Chinese IME, I would be happy..
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Im not sure if this will work for you but here, I've extracted DioPenChineseIME.apk from a DXKPB stock firmware. I think you can install it just like a regular app.
Hope it helps.

I am able to install it, but i believe that is some missing file due to the keyboard is not popping up after enabling. Instead it crashed, and enter the "force closed" mode..
Maybe you can't install it like a regular app. By which I have no idea myself how to. The app in the market works well too though, tried before since I used em before

Hey guys!
I just flashed CyanogenMod 7 on my Ace, but I'm missing some stock Samsung apps, like recorder and notes. Can someone point me where I can get them, or how can I extract them from an Odin-compatible files? (I have them here, just in case)
Thanks!
First of all u should have posted this in the general section [ I think ]..a moderator will move this thread to general section soon....
Coming to ur question ..its not possible to install Samsung apps (the app store) or any other app downloaded from it..I think its bcoz of the framework ...cm7 has a diff framework ...u can find some replacements for stock Samsung apps in the Android market aka Google Play store...cheers

I managed to open the Odin files, I'm just installing the apps I wanted to see if they will work.

Yeah, just copying and installing the apks don't work. It doesn't even install. Gives me an nice "App not installed" message.
Anyway, all that I most miss is the Notes app. I've searched for some others in the Store, but none were as minimalistic as the stock app was. Can someone point me to some app that will be as closest as possible to the stock app?
And, one more thing, no way that I'll go back to the stock rom, CM7 is WAY better!
Did you try do put into /system/app? Also, I think you need the tw framework.

Installed using Android Commander as System App, but didn't worked. And, sorry for the noob question, but, wth is tw framework?
It's the touchwiz's framework, needed by some stock apps.
Oh yeah, now I get it - tw and touchwizz.
How do I "install" the tw framework?
You need to push it from /system/framework and put on your CM7 and set the permissions.
It will not mess with CM framework? And what permissions do I need to set?

its the widget not the S planner D:
Any luck on finding the S-Planner App? I am on the LiquidSmooth ROM, and the only thing i miss about the stock ROM was the S-Planner. Can someone post the Apk file? Thanks!
This is the calender from LH9.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/62284246/Calendar_4.0.4-I747UCALH9.apk
From my understanding of samsung and their wisdom, the S-apps are very intertwined with the Touchwiz interfaces. Roms like AOKP wont run them. If I am wrong, please correct me.
the Stock Email and Calender apps on my SG3 are the ONLY reasons I have not gone to a custom rom on this one. they are much nicer and more robust than the AOSP versions. If I had teh time to learn more about porting them, I would do so myself.
I also have a galaxy tablet. the stock ICS on it is mediocre at best. I tried going to AOKP, but again, the Calender and Email apps are far superior on the stock roms.
It's being a long time, but just in case you guys still looking for it here they are.
Just copy and paste it to /system/app and change permissions.
YOU NEED ROOT PERMISSIONS
Hallo,
I use the original Samsung ROM, but want the original calendar widget in inverted style. If I install the inverted google calendar I loose the S Planner functions for setting new calendar entries etc. Has anybody the original calendar widget that can run with the S-Planner?
Best regards,
Marc

EDIT: I think I found the answer: rw-r--r--
nice love it thanks
downloaded all files provided in this thread and s-planer still crashing on my s3 i9300..
Im rooted and on custom rom from PARDUS ( v13beta4) rom is samsung based so everything should work.
got error touchwiz stopped responding ... when putting widget on screen.. sometimes its fine for few seconds.
I had to flash a custom rom on my fathers s3 because he need a higher version for bank app...
Now he miss his ~calendar app (S-Planner) for his phone, any chance to get a ported version ? Running some slim rom 4.4 on his phone.
S-Planner is a Samsung app and will require a stock Samsung kernel and framework to work. As far as I know, it will not work on a custom ROM that is not based on a stock ROM.
can anyone give me the SNS app because in cm7 it doesn't include so i miss that feature in stock rom.

Unpack stock rom's system.rfs (choose yours service-provider-wise from samfirmware) using Magic ISO, deodex them and copy over using root explorer setting correct permissions and owner (644, root:root).
Its a feature from samsung roms, so might be a bit harder

Actually voetbalremco may be right. While moving SamsungApps (the store) is trivial - all it requires is the touchwiz framework from stock rom, Samsung Social Hub is probably too deeply integrated in the rom itself. Not saying it can't be done, but it would require lots of trial and error, not mentioning the time needed.
but what about on cm9 is it working?because in samsung S3 rom(based on CM9) by shiftyhungary it includes SNS apps and a working S3 launcher.
Hi.
First of all I want to thank everyone for their effort.
I just installed Android Kitkat 4.4 on my Samsung Wave 2 phone from this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2800014 , and I was wondering if it is possible to get a couple of apps installed or even Google Play itself since it's missing from the OS or I don't know how to enable it?
Thanks in advance and sorry if I posted in the wrong section.

Just install google apps, it makes phone laggy but add playstore.
All infos are in OP.
Other method is to install apk manually with adb or a file explorer.
