So after my phone got the kitkat update, the phone app on my lockscreen no longer works. It instead displays the little droid like when you have an icon for an app that's no longer installed. Maybe the app just changed locations with the update, because I definitely still have a dialer app. But I use the stock lockscreen and I can't figure out how to change the four apps at the bottom so that I can replace the bad phone one.
Any ideas? It's preventing me from making calls from the lockscreen, which blows if I'm trying to quickly pull my phone out while driving or something.

Remove the phone from your dock on the stock launcher, and re-add it.

Oh, that actually worked. I have nova launcher so I literally never touched my stock one for more than five minutes after turning on the phone for the first time.
Thanks!

Running stock ICS haven't touched anything.
Every time I am in an app and click the home button it loads a blank home screen then takes a while to load everything on my home screen. It didn't use to do this, only started in the past few days. Any ideas?

I was having that issue after I installed a live wallpaper (Microbes). Got rid of that and it went back to normal.
Don't have a live wallpaper installed.

Are you using a custom launcher?Did you touch anything in developer options?
Did you install an app before it started acting up? It may not be fully compatible with 4.0 and causing issues. Also, have you tried to do a simple restart?
Found the issue. It was easy battery saver. Got rid of it and its fine now.

it case it happens again, what your experiencing is home screen redraw. it happens when the android system kills the launcher to save up memory.
this means that when you press home to go back to the launcher, it has to refresh, and redraw everything. and the more you have on your homescreens, and the more apps/widgets you have installed the longer it takes.
i've noticed it happening a lot on my phone when i'm switching between apps and then press home. It's normal for third party launchers but very strange for the stock one to have this so often.
I've had the exact same problem of late (also with the stock app-draw), I imagine it's a case of pinpointing the suspect app that's causing this. It's pretty serious though, a good 2 or 3 seconds and even then it's super choppy until the home screens are redrawn... The joys of early adoption :\
I was just searching to see if anyone else was experiencing this. I get the same over here.
I had similar issue. Something ate all my RAM, but it wasn't listed in 'running apps' in settings . Reboot fixed it
well folks, the sooner you go onto custom ROM the better. I tried ignoring these (and several other issues you are about to encounter) but the list was getting endless
I've bigxie and franco kernel now (4.0.3), not difficult to install, and now most of the STOCK issues are gone...
So I was using stock gingerbread/sense 2.1, unrooted, on my INC2 and all of a sudden my keyboard is gone. I installed go keyboard and it works but it really would be nice to have the stock sense which I prefer.
I'm not sure if it can be removed from the ROM and installed like a third party keyboard or not, I really don't know about that sort of thing.
Any help with getting stock keyboard back (preferably without root/resetting the phone) would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to check if "Android keyboard" is in the Keyboard settings?
It isn't, initially it was a blank box when I clicked on input method, and there weren't any settings underneath.

2 ideas:
1) get into some field where you'd normally enter text and long-press the text field. In CM roms, this gets you the ability to choose from the available keyboards (this doesn't seem to work in Sense-based Roms, though).
2) or... if the Go Keyboard installed itself as a regular application, you might go into Menu|Settings|Applications|Manage Applications, select the "All" tab and look for your Go keyboard. If you find it, click it and in the subsequent screen, scroll down until you find the "Clear Defaults" button. Click this to unset the Go keyboard as default. Then exit back to the main home screen.
Then when you get back to the main home page, open something that requires typing and you may find the ability to select the default keyboard. I'd guess that the regular HTC one is back there.
If that doesn't work, are you rooted and do you have a Nand backup?
I'm not rooted, and it's not that the keyboard was replaced, it disappeared completely so I installed GO keyboard manually.

Have you tried holding the menu button that brings up the keyboard?

This happened to me before I rooted. I took it into a store and they surprisingly checked internet forums for an answer. Anyway, the solution was a factory reset. This was extremely annoying and is what motivated me to initially root my phone.

I rooted my phone because I had google services framework delete itself 3 times, requiring a factory reset each time. Also, one time it randomly bootlooped and required a factory reset through hboot. I was done with losing my data.

Hmm this isn't sounding good for me. However I may be getting an LTE Galaxy Nexus in a bit, so I'll be factory resetting my INC2 to give to someone. Thanks for the help anyway.

Heya.
Whenever I lock the phone with the power button and unlock it, it comes back to the original page where it was before locking the screen. This didnt use to happen before. I used to get a lockscreen, where i wud need to slide the arc upwards to unlock. But its not showing anymore
It does show up once in a while on its own. I have tried killing all the background apps, but still no luck. Have checked the display settings as well as security settings, nothing :/
P.s.: Have not rooted my phone
If i have missed something, or some setting, please let me know how to fix this. Its really annoying to see the homescreen after i press the power button. I want to see the lockscreen always which has the notifications and the arc slider to unlock >.<
Thanx.
Try to root back your phone, download terminal editor from market, and there must to be an option to repair or smtn your lockscreen. Then unroot it back and enjoy.
An other option is to root it and open root folder blablabla. Somewhere.
I hope, I helped you

Solved
Heya everyone, its working now.
I had installed an app, 'battery indicator pro' which has the option to disabe lockscreen. And i must've selected that by mistake. When i saw it, i reenabled it and now everythings fine hehe
Thank you all for the quick responses and help.
Cheers!
Getting quite annoyed with this now. About half the time when I unlock my HOX by pulling the ring up, it launches into the dialer instead of the launcher. I thought I might have been accidentally dragging the quick launch icon, but just tested it about 20 times to make sure, and I can drag the ring anywhere on screen, after the quick launch bar has faded and it still happens.
This happening for anyone else?

Unlocking the phone brings you to the last open activity. If you lock your phone after using the dialer, you'll unlock it on the dialer. (Un)locking is not like pressing Home.

I know that. It does this no matter my last open app
this thing happen to me when i charging my phone.. my guess its has something to do with HOX screen sensitivity when on charging status..
yeah it seems related to the touch sensitivity issue when charging, mine does this occasionally.
Happens to me too. I think it has to do with bad coding and unfinished software. My previous phone was Dedire and never had any problems with it. But I'm very dissapointed with the hox. It seems as if it was built with only one thing in mind, get it oit before samsung. Bad move in terms of quality

just a follow up, not near a mains charger at the moment, and can't seem to reproduce when charging from PC.
Is everyone having it launch the dialer, and if so, do you all have the dialer as your first quicklaunch app?
Will be fiddling with this issue later on, because it's just weird
I noticed this when I first got this phone, I just moved the Dialer icon elsewhere on the Dock and it never happened again, strange but a non issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775638
Pls read the above thread, just posted my theory there for this issue, its probably about time we start a proper thread for this issue.
I'm sure this is related to the charging issue, the charging problem screws up the touch's on the screen, which is why the phone app seemlingly appears randomly

We all know how the back button has worked since the old days. You're in an app and you get an email. You launch the notification. You press back when you're done, and again if necessary to get out of the email app. Android sends you back to the app you were previously using. Right?
Has anyone noticed this is broken in Jellybean? Most of the time, although I can't detect any obvious pattern, the back button sends me back to the home screen regardless of whether I entered an app via a notification or not. I want my back back

IIRC I had the same issue in ICS...JB is no different for me. Guess I just got used to it, but it would be nice to return to the previous app like you said. Waiting for a resolution
That only happens to me in this app. But it has always behaved like that for me.
