I recently had my LG G2 stolen from me and have had to go back to the trust p930. I am using bell variant in canada and its on GB 2.3.5. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to root it. I can't update it with B2Cappsetup because everytime I try to open that it says "Need to connect to internet". My drivers are always "not found even though I've downloaded LG mobile unite drivers from their site and OTA updates say I have latest verion. Sigh. Anyone able to tell a half baked noob how to achieve root and CWM/TWRP in the easiest way known? WOuld be a huge help

In order to root it you have to have the drivers installed so try installing the drivers on another pc or try to figure the problem. If you just want it rooted and nothing more (Custom ROM, Recovery, or Kernel), then use Bi4nary's root. If you want a custom ROM, Recovery, or Kernel, then you have to 'Unbrick' and I would suggest you use hereric's method. Both of them work perfectly

SO I couldn't just root with something easy like superoneclick then Just download TWRP from goo manager and flash roms through that? I HAVE to do that long complicated guide? I definetly am too noob to follow that, I can't even open Bc2appsetup for some reason let alone the rest of it!
Superoneclick will work to root this phone. As others have experienced, it takes one shot or multiple tries to get it rooted. IRC, I had to also install the Android SDK package before it got rooted.
BUT, if you just bought that phone as used it might be already rooted so check that first before you waste your time.

Oh yes I guess superoneclick will work for gingerbread. I personnally had ICS.

So my dad just got an LG Nitro HD for work, and I'm not totally sure, but I'm suspecting he updated it to V10j without knowing it would keep us from rooting it. I've tried every root method under the sun for this phone, and yet no root. So do you guys know if there is any hope to root this phone after being updated?

Can't you follow the unbricking guide and flash the phone to an older firmware? That way you can root, get CWM, and flash whatever version of android you want to try out!

I've heard of that, but I was must wondering if there was an easier way, like a oneclick. I could even settle for a manual root method. It's just that downgrading seems to be my worst enemy.

You could try to get V11a that dillonr suggested and try to root that. You would have nothing to lose really, since you cant root V10j. If it doesnt work then you're stuck on having to use the unbrick method, its a bit of a pain and time consumer, but its what i had to do. If you are thinking about going to CM9, the unbrick method is totally worth it.

I've tried updating the phone, and it says there's no update. Should I wait for an update or just go for the unbrick?

Do you know if the next version up is rootable with one click? And if so, how would I force the update?
i have V11a, it IS rootable (my phone as proof)
i am not sure how to force the updates, but if you can wait until tomorrow i will have the .img files uploaded for V11a...
i have no idea how to get them running on your device though, i'm just learning, myself

I would go through the unbricking process if you plan to flash any custom ROMs. The unbricking method seems to do something to the phone that's require to flash HO!NO!'s CWM ROM for the LG ICS leak.
It would make the phone a little more future proof for any ROMs released that may have the same requirement

i called bell canada today, and they said they will be releasing ICS for our phones June 16
you have to wait a few more days, but you should be able to update then

im on kitkat 4.4.2, but there are many korean apps, i would like to get rid of them and if it's possible install the newest 4.4.4 kitkat, so is it possible to install it without any problems?

Settings -> About phone -> Software information -> Tap build number until a message says "you are now a developer".
Tell if this worked please, just to confirm.

What rom is it? Give a try to Towelroot V3, I just used it yesterday. It should work on stock V10x roms, I don't know about AOSPish roms, after towelroot install supersu from playstore and let it update binaries normal way.
Let me know if this works or else I can let you know the other method I know.
i used the towelroot and rooted the phone. removed a bunch of korean apps with titanium backup, but now im worried if i uninstalled something important

so now i have a rooted phone with a 4.4.2 kitkat. as i understand i cant receive official updates? i will have to update the phone manually? can i update it to 4.4.4? i would only update it if it's 100% safe.. i dont want to mess something up. im happy with 4.4.2 but just want to know if i can update the phone down the line to a newer software, maybe even down the road when officially ther wont be any updates for ogp?

So is there a quick and easy way to do this?
I use a iMac BUT I can boot into Windows 7 Ultimate also (which from rooting phones before I usually always go that route).
Any help/directions would be appreciated.
Also this, who comes up with those weird names for different ROM's that NEVER really explain, in plain old English, what they do?
I can't (or don't want to) learn the syntax lingo used to find a working ROM that does just a simple thing, give you ROOT, even after reboots/yank battery/etc.
Maybe a one-click solution?

any confirmation that CF root works on 4.4.2 with NJ1 OTA update/
as soon as someone gets a root to stick
and I mean just standard, stock adding su to the mix
post the steps as to how you did it
a one click root would of course be the best......
but at least tell us how you did it, and screen shots to show would help too.

I haven't gotten root with Odin yet. No brick in and everything shows custom but US throws an error
I just got my G4 Unlocked international H815 model. It's running 5.1 software on ATT. It keeps bugging me trying to OTA software update. Not sure what it's trying to update to exactly, because the only way to see more info is to hit continue with update and there's no turning back from there.
I love this phone unlocked! it didn't have any bloatware I usually root to delete when I get my phone from the carrier. It's got stuff like Wifi hotspot stock and the FM radio and charges over QI instead of Powercrap ... etc.
My question is
if it's already got most of the stuff I root to access, do I let the OTA update happen and risk not being able to root?
not sure what all I'd gain.
I'm wary about rooting because my last phone was the LG G3 and I rooted it and despite me disabling all update processes, it updated itself one day on my way to work and got screwed up so bad I had to force a downgrade and put a rom on it and after a couple days of holding a 600$ paperweight, I finally got it up and running on a rom... still had some bugs but it worked.
I REALLY want to avoid that nightmare with this 3 day old phone.

Are you saying it's already rooted? If it is, the OTA won't work anyway. You have to unroot and flash the update using LG bridge. but then you can just root it again using the same method. The update doesn't block root. Lots of us have done it. Read the rooting threads.

What version are you on now? It's probably only the stagefright fix.

Install xposed framework and get the YouTube adaway module. That's deffo a reason to ROOT.

You need an unlocked bootloader to flash TWRP / CM.
I'm running stock v10d + root. Works awesomely.

Yes mine's unlocked, NOT rooted. apparently the update it was trying to do automatically wasn't a big update because it decided it had waited long enough and did it on its own, rebooted and its still at
5.1
I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the terminology and methods of rooting droids- I came from the dark side- I've jailbroken every iphone since the first one they ever produced. My G3 was my first real phone, but like I said, I had it for a couple months stock, rooted it, and almost immediately it went kamikaze OTA update while rooted and went haywire. I limped by with a mediocre rom for another 8 months, until some drunk A Hole destroyed it on Halloween. I may or may not be said A Hole haha
So I guess now my question is, once rooted, am I stuck at 5.1 forever with no security updates, software patches ETC?
and since most people don't have a true unlocked phone, is this process easier to do? I'm probably asking in the wrong forum section now aren't I?
I sure hope at this point if you truly have an unlocked bootloader, that you have the latest MM version 20B installed and have root! - I find that the stock ROM is the best performing and least buggy of any of them (with some minor tweakin)

Hi guys! need a lil help here. I have LG G4 H815. Now this is what's happening :
1. I have tried t install LG drivers a million times but in the device manager, there's always some problem with them during the installation.
2. Therefore, I'm unable to locate my phone using 'adb devices'. I'm stuck on this first step for last 1 week and I have tried every available lg driver on the internet but still the result is same.
3. I'm using Windows 8 Pro.
What's the solution here guys? Your help will highly be appreciated.

I did as you said and disabled the driver signature verification at restart. Uninstalled the driver and installed again but still the problem persists.
When I connect the phone, LGE Android phone appears with a yellow question mark in the device manager. When I try to update the driver, it says that
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
MTP USB Device.
The system cannot find the file specified."
Still can't locate the device with adb. Please help me!

KingoRoot- APK and PC, Framaroot APK, iRoot APK and PC, Towelroot APK, Z4Root APK, RootMaster APK, One click root APK and PC, Baidu Root APK, And none have gained full root permision. I have had Temp roots with both King Root and KingoRoot, but it seems to only last minutes and then my phone reboots on its own and its back to no root. I have my bootloader unlocked which I thought was supposed to prevent this sort of thing? Im running 5.0.2 stock. I'm fairly versed on this subject so this is becoming very frustrating for me, ive been trying for over a week now. I know i could flash a rooted rom but i have tried literally at least 12 different ones for every variation of my phone possible, from CM 11 up to CM13.. and when I go to flash it says (roughly) "this file is for A5, A5DUG, A5.., This phone is A5dug"......How is that possible? I dont know if this is relevant or not but when im in recovery mode up top it says "A5chl" in the specs area... but thats not what it seems to think it is? I have managed to successfully flash once but it was for a dual sim variant of the 816, needless to say it was jacked up and i had to go back to stock. I must be missing something.. Anyways, im rambling on now. Im desperate, PLZ help me. I have run out of ideas and losing hope quickly.

Truly, no offense meant but you're evidently not that well versed because you didn't need to flash any of those exploits to obtain root on the 816 a5_chl VM version because I didn't do any of that and I have root on this same device using V_ Superuser's XDA tutorial thread.
Unlock bootloader through HTCdev then flash current TWRP version for the A5 using ADB/fastboot then download the SuperSU flashable zip file from it's website to the root of your internal SD card then install/flash the zip file using the newly installed TWRP custom recovery. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache then reboot system and you're device is rooted.
After this you can S off with the Sunshine app (my preference) or flash the lollipop WP_ mod.no write permission mod to be able to use root apps like Link2SD and you're done again.
Edit: I've also flashed all of these same custom roms with little issue so something else must be going on there as well. I would get your stock recovery reinstalled ( there are several links to it here in XDA ) ,relock your bootloader and flash/run executable of the stock RUU for the VM A5 found on HTC's download page then start over because I assume you don't have a backup to the stock firmware saved somewhere ?
