I know that many complained about the quality of camera coming with CM based roms. Here are 2 separate apps, which nonetheless work together. Just install them as usual apps. Camera has an option to save to SD, as well as 12mp resolution and many more options.
http://www9.zippyshare.com/v/8510076/file.html
Credit for camera goes to Xperiasblack and Kitkat gallery I just found on the internet.
P.S. Remember, gallery2 is camera, gallery is album/browser
Edit: Make sure you uninstall any Google/Nexus camera and gallery you have, because otherwise the new Gallery will call your existing camera, which will defeat the point..
Thanks for the share!
I am using CM10 for locked BL
I just pushed the camera app to /system and gave the permissions and was then able to start it. It did not show the 12Mpx as an option, but only 8Mpx on my SXS.
BUT it did show the HDR option
I immediatelly tried to take a HDR picture: 3 pictures were made (rater slow but with the HDR- appropriate different brigthness) Then FC.
I tried a couple of times, but didnt get it to work.
By now I have been using the G2 camera app, which is looking similar but definitelly works on stock / CM based roms, Thogether with the 4.3 camera app, which supports the photosphere.

Did you uninstall original CM gallery/camera? Because the picture you are getting is not from the camera I posted. See my pictures with multiple options. And you didn't need to push anything to system/apps, these two could be installed as regular apks. There is no reason these apps should sit in your system.
My problem (rather Google's problem) was that although initially Gallery2 (camera) was installed fine, the moment I installed the second app, it would override the camera. So, I could either have camera only or Gallery with old camera. That was until I found these two...
Edit: "It did not show the 12Mpx as an option, but only 8Mpx on my SXS."
Because you did not start the camera app I posted. Your picture shows the other camera that has only 8mpx.
I removed all camera apps from my phone and rebooted, then i installed gallery2.apk. This time installation was successful and i didn't have to push it manually.
It works again, but only with 8mpx as it did before.
I add another screenshot.
It is shown as "Galerie 4.1.0001" on my phone.
There is now no other camera app on my device, so I am really sure to use the one you provided
Maybe the thing is related somehow to my locked bootloader / CM combination?
Thanks again!

My bad. I put the wrong app there. Sorry about this. Should be 2.0.1 version. I have updated the link. Try again.

Can yu give me the link of g2 camera app
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
@optimumpro thank you very much for clarification and new upload.
This is now exactly the same app as I have been using for long I just don't know where I had it from, I only remember it being related somehow to the G2. So @@NUJ this should answer your question.
The only thing left with this app is, that it doesn't support photosphere functionality.
Do you see any chance to mod photosphere into this app, or to enable 12 MP in the Android 4.3 camera app? The 4.3 camera I'm taking about is btw gallery2.apk version 1.1.40012, I only could find German language links by now for a reference.

And here is the link to the 8MP camera with working photosphere:

hi,
can you provide me the procedure to remove camera app and how to add.
xperia ion
4.4 kitkat.
CM11.
Pushing the files manually to the system is quite easy:
You need a phone explorer with root permissions, like ES File Explorer. Start it and navigate to /system/app
You will find all the system apps there. Search for gallery2.apk and rename it to gallery2.apk.old - just to have it in case it does not work later an you want to change back. Then switch to the place you saved the downloaded gallery2.apk from this thread here. Select it (don't open!) and copy it to /system/app. If it is there, you have to select it there again by longpress, open the properties and edit the permissions: rw-, r--,r--
That's all, the app is now a system app and should be visible in the app drawer.

Removed old camera app and installed new one just fine
Only problem now is that the hardware button doesn't launch the app...any idea as to how to fix that?
Same here. Camera hardware cannot be used to launch camera . And there is no shortcut to gallery in camera

Just swipe the camera screen to the left will open the gallery. That's a pretty cool effect
But I also dont know how to make this camera to be launched by the camera key. Sorry!
Sorry for bringing up old thread.
I can't seem to install the camera (gallery2.apk), i pushed both files to system/app folder after removing the original files.
Gallery is working fine but i don't have the camera icon in my apps drawer. I tried to install the apk file but to no avail as well. I got an error (App not installed. An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed).
Please advice. I;m using CM10 ROM
Edit: Nevermind, got it working already.. had to install the camera first and then followed by pushing gallery into system/app. However like the camera app that comes with CM10, my camera loads very slowly as i start the camera app. Not just the default camera app, other camera apps from playstore, whatsapp camera, instagram camera and even QR code reader loads very slow at startup.. Any idea why and how to fix it? I was hoping this could fix it but too bad it didn't.
Edit 2: I was wrong... it seems like I can only get either one of them in the system/app, not both. It seems that they have conflicting signatures.. Any fixes?
thanks

First and foremost...yes, I have googled and search the xda forum for an answer.
I am running myn warm twopointtwo and I cannot figure out how to make it load the 3d gallery when I click the last picture I took in the camera? The gallery links to the camera just not the other way around.
I have tried every method I have come across to make it work (including adb/root explorer installs). If I rename Gallery3D.apk to HTCAlbum.apk, I get a force close message when I try to get to the gallery from the camera. Hopefully someone can get me going! The only one that got close was I grabbed the Camera/Gallery apk's from a rom...Baked Snack I think...and it got me there but it was the wrong camera app for the evo and I get this weird issue in some of the gallery3d.apk's where there is like 6 columns between the local and picasa albums...that one did that to me. Please help!
Have you tried going into settings > applications then looking for the HTC album app, and then clicking clear defaults? If the camera passes the call as opening a picture instead of directly launching to the HTC gallery as if both programs are hardcoded together, then it should ask you what program to use to open the picture.

Yes, that was one of the suggestions I had found via Google. I did finally get it working. For anybody else who may have this problem (mine was specific to after I download warm twopointtwo due to included apps in rom), I downloaded http:[slash][slash]files.androidspin.com[slash]files[slash]enomther[slash]ROM[slash]TheOfficial_Nexus1_v2.13.2_update.zip (sorry for the crazy address but apparently new accounts can't post links) I renamed /system/app/HTCAlbum.apk to HTCAlbum.apk.original in case I had a problem, and did the same with HTCCamera.apk. I put the Camera.apk and Gallery3D.apk from the Nexus zip file (system\app\Camera.apk) into the /system/app/ folder on my evo. After a reboot the Gallery showed up but no camera in the app drawer, so I went to /system/app/Camera.apk in root explorer and clicked install. Everything works great! Also if anybody else wanted a landscape compatible car dock app, copy CarHomeGoogle.apk and CarHomeLauncher.apk to your /system/app and voila, landscape Car Home app You will still have Car Panel as well of course.
got this working with the Nexus Camera.apk but I want this to work with the HTCCamera.apk I know Im being selfish but damn it I want to use 8MP lol
Well, I flashed latest Cyanogen mod, but then I found some problems with the phone. I'm not sure if it's really Cyanogen or something else, that's why I'm asking here.
Now, I always liked the default camera that comes with the phone, but this time, I can't find the timer on it. I have checked every single option and - nothing.
I figured that I might try some other camera apps, so far: Camera360, Camera Advance, Camera ZOOM FX and Vignette, they all work fine, but when it comes to saving pictures, nothing happens. I'm using some 3D gallery app, which comes with Cyanogen, I'm not sure what it's called, but it's fairly popular.
Any solution to this?

You mean the picture is taken ok but are not being saved? Have you used a file manager or pc to check the DCIM folder on the SD Card? This is a very unique issue and not specific to the camera apps or the ROM. Let me know re above.

The Gallery 3D app is native to Android. It won't be responsible for the issues.
Sorry for late reply. Yes, the images are shown in gallery, it just reports location as unknown and when I check SD card (I have checked every folder) there are no pictures (even the newly created folders after I change save path) are not shown.
However, after you mentioned that I should check with file manager, I did so and I can see the pictures. But still, nothing on SD card, so I can't access them. I even tried sharing them on Facebook and sending g to my email then downloading, they show up in the gallery but not on SD card when I access it via PC.
What is causing this? PC issue?

Hey Guys,
so I got my new HTC One M8 (Vodafone GER).
But I have a problem. I updated it to 4.2.2 / Sense 6.0 but there is no gallery App anymore.
The only picture viewer that I have on the phone is "Google Photo" and it does not show Camera Pictures that I took.
Even if I'm in my camera app and took a photo and try to "click" in the lower right corner, to open gallery app, it doesn't appear.
Nothing happens.
So even searching for it in my app launcher, there is no Gallery (or even "Alben" or "Gallerie").
The only thing I found about this app is going to settings -> apps --> Gallery / "Alben" (Germany u know
I even deleted the app data and the cache. But there is no app anymore.
And yes, camera settings are set to save pictures on phone memory.
If anyone have a idea, that would be great. I tried another gallery app, but nothing happened. I could see whatsapp pictures and downloaded pictures but no camera pics.
Please help
Tanks

Stock device, and updated by OTA?
If so, backup your personal data and try a factory reset. It could be some pre-existing apps or settings is not compatible with the OTA update.
HTC Gallery is also available in Play Store as a standalone app. Try to download it from there. Not sure if 4.4.3 is needed though

Thanks a lot!
This is the solution
samsung galaxy tab s 8.4 smt705
rooted with twrp
selamba rom
when i open a camera app i get an error message and the app force closes. i ve tried all the clear cache reboot fixes and itll work for awhile, then it stops working again. wondering if the changelog might give someone an idea.
edit- cant post screenshot for some reason. now i understand why a lot of posts dont have screenshots and you cant figure out what the **** theyre talking about.
This sometimes happens with ROMS. All you need to do is download some random camera apps from the Google Play Store. One of them will eventually work!

yeah, thats what ive been doing. open camera 1.34 seems to be working fine. it did get an error message when i first downloaded it, but i had just uninstalled camera fv. after reboot its been opening the camera just fine. i liked the samsung camera but i dont like gallery, so ive got both of those froze. camera/cinema fv light would not work with this selamba rom.
camera and gallery work with each other. if you frozen one, the other one definitely will give a problem. its how samsung wrote the code. its in the framework. camera will search for gallery that it was mean to work with.

Copied all files to /system/priv-app, set the correct permissions, reboot, no Gallery showing up.
So I thought, maybe it's conflicting with the OnePlus stock Gallery app so disabled that one and rebooted again...
Unfortunately no dice, Gallery not showing up, guess it's dependent on the Huawei framework
Got to say, owning a Mate 8 prior to the 5T, never used the Huawei Gallery, Quickpic (4.5.2, also from XDA) is the way to go, imho

Thanks for trying
I'll give quickpic a try
I just really like the layout of the gallery on the m10
Why is the font purple on quickpic?
I can't seem to change it
