Hey guys,
Before I get teared apart limb from limb, I tried searching for rooting on the new software and didn't really come up with any guides.
So, anyway. I just got my upgrade HOX in the mail, and I'm so excited! Of course, I've been on XDA before and rooted and customized and flashed to my heart's content, but I need some help.
Would someone lead me to a guide for rooting HOX on the NEW software? I just got my new kit today, I don't know if it automatically updates or not. I pretty much want to learn how to get to flashing a ROM.
Thanks!

i used this no problems.

Use it as stock for a few weeks at least to rule out any manufacturer hardware issues.
Update via the OTA check for updates in settings. (2.17 is the latest)
------
The when you want to play with custom, root of etc....
Install Android SDK
1st step is unlocking the bootloader via HTCdev
Then flashing clockworkmod touch recovery
Then flashing a rom of choice, all which have root I think.

I would actually emphasize this. So many people have had hardware issues and it will be a struggle to get the phone repaired after rooting via HTCDEV. Spare yourself trouble and give some time to rule out those problems.
Besides you can use that time to get to know the available roms, issues with them and the rooting/flashing process

Sorry I'm just trying to learn here but here I go. Are their any complications of using HTC to unlock the bootloader meaning can't the boot loader be relocked if he is trying to send it in for repairs?

It can be relocked but unlocking the first time sends HTC a notion that your device has been unlocked. And there are several people that are having a tough time getting their phones repaired even though the issues are hardware.
Depending on the country and law it is possible to force them to repair or replace a faulty device but trust me, that process will be a lot faster and simpler if you haven't tampered with the bootloader.
An irrelevant response but that's why I will always go the nexus route when buying android so I could avoid most if not all these issues.

Help with HTC One X ATT version
Hi Guys,
So I have unlocked my HTC One X ATT version using the HTCDev.com site. Now I want to install clockworkmod so I can proceed with custom ROM installations. But all the links that I find to CWM are dead.
Can someone point me to the live links please? I am itching to get the CM10 rom installed on my HOX.
Please note there are plenty of sites and links for international version of HOX but I want for ATT.
Thanks,

Can CWM version on HOX Tegra 3 international work on an AT&T model?
I'd supply you my CWM touch, but i don't want to if it won't work.
As I'm unsure, I'll leave this up to you to decide.

I tried CWM version but it does not work. The phone goes into loop when I try to boot it into recovery mode.
Thanks for the response though...

You'd be better off asking in the AT&T One X section of this forum. I didn't think you could even use htcdev with it.

Found it through this thread:

And these are the forums where you should go for an AT&T HTC One X:

If you have a ATT HTC One X, get off this forum, go to the proper section, and never come back here. Flashing any rom here will permanently brick your device.

Hello,
I got a store display of the HTC One M7 on the Verizon network and I'm still new to all of this. How and what are the steps needed to get root access and be able to install custom ROMs, like CM11 and whatnot?
If there's any info you guys need, I can try my best to figure it out.
And bonus points for recommending any other compatible ROMs I should try out as well?
Thanks guys
Also I just found out I still have 4.2.2 with HTC sense 5.0 would I be able to get root by using weaksauce /HTCDev?
Edit:
All I had to do was reformat the OS from the stock recovery to get it to stock OS and since I still had Android 4.2.2 and HTC sense 5.0 I was able to use weaksauce and firewater/adb to get root and s-off. Thanks guys :good:

Shoot, sorry about that. Thanks for letting me know.
Moved for you. I'm on the Sprint m7. We recommend using htcdev to unlock the bootloader but remain s-on. If you want s-off, you most likely have to pay at this time (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699091).

I'm wondering though cause it doesn't have stock android OS, so can I just use the standard steps or do I first have to install a fresh OS?
Bump, added new question to the main post.

Does NOT work. Also caught a security threat in VZ Protect, Wants too many permissions to the phone as well. Would prefer a XDA-Dev trusted method.

I have the Verizon HTC Desire 526. This method does not work on it. Are you it's the same model of this phone that you rooted?
I have european version with only 1 gb ram and 4.4 android.
I didnt think of it earlier, sorry bro.
HTC desire 526 has no root as of now. if your on version 5.1 there are other threads about it. as alot dont work. verizon specifically locks these phones to for 6-12months. how to unlock them after. no clue. but im also still waiting on root access for these phones
Rooted within 3 mins
Guys I'm from India.. and I hav HTC desire 526 with octa core.. I have rooted mine with Kingroot.apk. it requires net connection to download exploits for ur mobile.. I just rooted within 3 mins..
Some of you may remember me. Made the HTC toolkits from a few years back til about 2014.
I'm rocking the M8 right now, but I just ordered the 10. I've noticed this phone didn't even take off in the market, unfortunately. However, I am planning on bringing back my toolkit and developing one for the HTC 10.
If you don't know what my toolkit is, look in my signature. Mind you, it's been a couple years since I coded and my skills are horribly off. Luckily, I kept all my source files to reference back to.
Hasoon2000 will be back in the game!
Just received my HTC 10. Rooted it and what not.
The rooting process changed slightly from 2 years ago, but no biggie. Made a few adjustments in the code for my toolkit. Should have it uploaded by today or tomorrow.
I'm in the process of cleaning up my code and making the UI cleaner and have a better flow, compared to my old toolkits. Here's a sample of where I am at. What other commands would you like? Mind you, I have been absent from the rooting scene for 2 years, so I have no idea of what happened since. That is why I need your input!
Cool.
Will this work on the Verizon HTC 10?
Maybe firmware upgrades for both S-ON and S-OFF devices?

Now, is the process different for the Verizon model? From what I recall from my old Verizon model toolkits, Verizon phones couldn't be unlocked via HTCDev. Is that still true or can you now use HTCDev? Also, is what is the model codename for Verizon models? pfm/perfume? Got a picture of the Download Mode for me to look at?

Again, it's been a few years. Flashing update OTA/full ROM zip files should be the same for s-on and off, unless they changed something that I don't know about.
Also, who has the new ADB and Fastboot files and that can upload it for me? My files are old (what a surprise).

Did you unlock your bootloader from HTCDev normally? For TWRP, did you use the official one for the HTC 10 pfm/perfume?
What I'm trying to see is if the recovery is universal for the 10 or if they made separate ones for Verizon and for the GSM model.

I did not mean ROM flashing, but firmwares. It has different ways for S-ON and S-OFF.

I apologize fellas.
I have multiple of my accounts hacked the past few days. PayPal, Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo, other forums, etc. I was able to override all of the hacks and secure my accounts again.
Will need a few more days for this.
In the meantime, what features would you guys like?
I remember your toolkit. I used it with my one X a couple years ago and i found it very useful. It's really cool to see you working on it for the 10.
Also, finding and installing drivers could be a nice and useful extra.
Nice to have you back, I've used a few of your all in one kits. Started with the hox, happy days.
Man, if this makes it easier/faster to update firmware on S-Off and S-On I'm totally gonna love it!
Yeah, if it simplifies firmware installs that would be amazing.
