[Q] Stuck with Stock Recovery

Hi XDA,
A total noob in the world of android and mobile flashing, I suddenly thought, hey I should flash my phone, apparently a big mistake on my part. Unaware that when I installed this ROM I apparently got the stock recovery instead of the CWM.
Tech Details:
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7105
Danish - Provider 3 (Three).
Currently Installed ROM: dr.ketan's Stock rooted roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032849
Specifically: N7105XXDMB2 N7105HTDDMA1 - Denmark (3) from 4.1.2 Feb 13
I can enter the recovery screen but only the "Stock Recovery" - My phone is unrooted - and commanding the phone to reboot in the bootloader through ADP just restarts the device normally. - The Stock Recovery gives me a Validation error no matter what RoM I try to use, even samsung stock for my provider.
If I could either root my device or gain access to the boot loader I could get CWM on it and go from there.
Can anybody see a way out for me?

Just to correct, those ROMs are stock unrooted ROM, as it is you get on kies.
You need root access for ADB command
and needs CWM to flash custom ROM. Stock ROMs you can't flash using recovery but you have to use odin.
find philz recovery and flash it, then you will have CWM. remember that will void warranty and on custom recovery(CWM), you can't reset counter.

Thanks alot for your reply. Yes indeed they were unrooted Another great example of my inexperience.
I tried doing the philz recovery through the recovery screen, it gave me the following error messages:
Code:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:failed to verify whole-file signature (Yes twice)
E:signature verification failed
I fail to see how I can use odin when I can't access download mode? (Probably me being stupid?)

Get tar version of philz recovery and you have to flash using odin.
To get download mode
Vol down +home +power

Oh My God! I love you man!
Somehow after 10 hours I must've misunderstood it was vol down not vol up to enter the download mode, I always adb commanded it to reboot in download when it was rooted.

[Q] Can't acces recovery mode after succesful rooting.

Hello. I have successfully rooted my sgh-899v and I have have used this method.

Now whenever I try to go into recovery mode, I have the samsung logo which breaks down. After a while it will boot and I can use it. It's not bricked. It just won't go into recovery. I have installed Titaniumbackup and ROM manager and I don't know what to do. The cwm that I flashed through Odin said cmw6 but when I choose the version on ROM manager for recovery setup, I chose ClockworkMod 3.x+ and my phone says current recovery at cwm 5.x.x.x and I still can't acces recovery mode! Please help it is very frustrating for me. Thank you for reading.

Will the app you sent allow me to boot into recovery mode even though I don't currently have it? I'm scared to do anything to brick my phone. Please reply and thanks for the reply.

If you dont have a recovery which u should yes it will allow you too if you have root access and if you want to install twrp recovery install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager and open the app hit the menu key you should see a list of options one being install openrecovery, tap in that one it will ask if you are sure you want to write recovery image to your device just click yes and bam you should now have a recovery

my phone is doing the same thing. i rooted it and then i tried to boot into recovery to install a ROM. the logo comes up and then shakes all over the place and then goes to a black screen. then nothing. i have to press the power button and it boots up normally to the regular phone. i downloaded goo manager and tried to install a recover but it loads for a second and then says no recovery found.
is there a way to install a custom rom using odin? i can bypass recovery using odin right? or does that not work?

You can install a custom recovery using Odin (twrp being one of them). Very few roms are installed using Odin.

As i see this thread stopped and i didn't see anyone fixing the problem that you can't boot into recovery and that the samsung note 2 breaks and goes up repeatedly ............. if someone fixed the issue please share it

I have a note 3 tmobil and really could use some help with the same issue as everybody else that can't get into recovey.... mines just loop over and over .... I feel like there's something blocking recovery and I also can't back up my rom.... I tried safestarp and later found out that it's not for t mobile. ...... I tried using Odin to install cwm recovery but that was a no go......again I ask HELP!!!!!! And thank u

Problem is solved now . My samsung gt-i9082 wouldn't load recovery mode or even let me root my device after installing cm13 .even i couldnt flash using odin.only samsung boot image being struck. I showed my phone to a professional mechanic.. He told me that the Flashing ic (EEPROM) was damadged. He changed that and now my phone works fine again.my id [email protected] for any questions.:good:

Having problem custom recovery not sticking after odin flash.am on stock 4.12 w/root.have used odin 1.85 & 3.1.have tried twrp & cwm.always reverts back to stock recovery at reboot.
There used to be a unbrick/back to stock app w/root for earlier galaxies.that kept me out of a lot of trouble.since I'm on att note 4 w/locked bootloaders,I haven't paid much attention to what's available now.
any ideas why recovery isn't sticking.any help appreciated.thnx

Open Odin, uncheck everything except f reset time. Flash TWRP. When you see the word "reset" in the status window, remove USB cable from the phone, remove battery, replace battery, use buttons to boot into recovery.

Thnx for reply.before I saw your reply,I tried the rashr app from playstore.it worked first try.i had tried goomanager,quick boot and some of the other apps with no luck.

2- I flashed the recovery by odin
3- I saw pass
4- I put the phon into recovery mod I saw stock recovery :what:
where is the problm $?

Which partition did you use to flash it??
Try this method
Go to play store .. Then
download rom manager from clockwork mod
and follow the steps.. That should give you cwm. Now flash philz recovery zip using cwm..
or if you are rooted
download goo.im app
click on menu and tap on open source recovery .. it will give you a notification for twrp.. click on ok and it will download and flash it..

I couldn't root my device because the same problem
also, l couldn't updata my phon to 4.3

you are doing something wrong...
4.1.2 should not have any issues with Philz recovery...
just flash the latest philz..using ODIN and use the pda tab to flash it..
use .tar file..!
if you still have issues rename the file.. remove .md5 and just make it .tar.. it works..!

Flash through phone if possible (not through recovery mode but from ROM toolbox or something.) It's more reliable.

I will try to rename the from from md5.tar to .tar
I flash recovery, root and roms by odin for different devices I don't face this problem

I flash CWM into my device last time also had the same problem. Mine is N7105.
And I rooted + flashed CWM few of N7105 (belongs to my friends), also had the same problem.
But, I managed to succeed finally.
What I did was very simple. After ODIN pass, device will reboot.
When it reboot, don't let it pass the 1st screen. I mean by the time your device showing "Galaxy Note II bla bla bla", don't let it pass it into the 2nd screen.
Once it reboots, you have to as quickly as pressing vol up + power + home, in order to get into recovery, a.s.a.p.
after that, you can see that CWM is installed on your device instead of stock recovery.

this metheod pass

what I do to flashed pass
1- I rename file from md5.tar to. tar
2- I flasded the file .tar by odin
3- I saw GALAXY NOTE 2 befor bootanimation I pressed (vom+ ,power bottem and home bottem) I saw philz recovery I'm happey
4- when I reboot device to recovery mod I saw stock recovery agan broplem

Stuck on Samsung logo and no recovery

Hi,
My friend's note 2 got stuck on Samsung logo boot screen and whenever I access the recovery, it loads that android robot logo for a second and then restarts. I still have access to download mode, I have tried flashing a stock 4.3 rom, CWM and Philz recoveries with Odin but still same problem exists. I flashing using PDA button, should I try the bootloader or something?
The phone was on stock rom but she doesn't know the exact version and I assume it was on a 4.1.x rom.
Any help?

Here is what you do,go into ODIN mode and get the .tar.md5 of philz touch 6.19 or twrp 2.6.3.2 flash it via odin and uncheck "auto reboot" that you see on the left side of the ODIN app,let the recovery be flashed in ODIN and once you see in GREEN saying RECOVERY PASS exit odin and using the vol down +home + power button keep it pressed until you samsung note screen let go of all buttons as soon as you see it and you're recovery will load within 5-10 seconds (twrp loads faster than philz) if you keep the buttons even after seeing the samsung note 2 message then it won't go into recovery,btw your friend's phone has she upgraded to official 4.3? or still on 4.1.2?

It loads till the android robot recovery logo with the moving hollow cube , it keeps moving for a second or something "loading" and then phone restarts by itself and gets stuck on samsung boot logo again.
She doesn't know which android version she was on, she in not that much into phones so probably with factory rom "4.1.2".
After all these successful flashes, Odin still says:
Custom binary download: No
Current binary: Samsung official
System binary: Official

you might want to follow this guide and try to re root her phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696 i followed that thread to root my note II ,but do remember that guide is only for users who are official 4.1.2 or 4.3 ,if your friend was on 4.1.1 you would need to download the official firmware from your country 4.1.2 that is and then follow the rooting guide,hope it works out for you,do let me know the end result

Try Wipe data and cache
I had this problem too after i clicked on factory reset in my rooted 4.3 n7100. Found the solution from a thread but i forgot where it was.
What I did was boot into recovery and perform "wipe data and cache". After wiping data, my note 2 are able to boot again...
NOTE: you will lose your data saved in your phone once you wiped it...

Simple answer is yes. He quite clearly stated he could access download mode already in the OP.

Please OP, try multi-package firmware !

Btw, I suggest OP to flash a firmware which is Multipackage (it contains a PDA, MODEM, BOOTLOADER etc)
Idk where you can find one (if i does exist because I mostly update my Note II using KIES)

Try use odin to re flash the twrp recovery 2.7.0.0-to3g version. It fixed my loop boot with out loosing all data
Hope this work for you too

If there's a bootloop, you may have to reflash the firmware. Hopefully you have the file on the external SD.
Try to reinstall twrp or PhilZ, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache and reflash the Rom anew.
Also check before whether you have the correct bootloader for the Rom you want to install! (e.g. MJ5 or else).

Try mskips toolkit from skipsoft.net. There is a thread on here for it but it's closed because of Microsoft signatures. It has a recovery package. You may lose your data but it will fix the phone.

No dude. Just download mode only. I also install twrp and philz cwm uaing odin still odin say failed
And also stock firmware failed also bro.

are you using stock samsung cable to connect phone to laptop?i read somewhere using non samsung cable can cause odin to fail

also do you have samsung kies installed on your computer together with odin?if yes uninstall samsung kies ,it's known to conflict with odin

U said u flashed 4.3 in her phone isnt....
Just give it a try these steps..(warraty may void)..
1.Flash stock 4.3 rom once again into phone.. After reeboting remove battery.. Then put it back.. go into download mode
2.flash CF-Autoroot with odin (dont forgot to chek reeboot on odin). .
after reboot cf-autoroot autimatically starts its rooting process...(if it starts u won half the way)
If u have luck it will reboot into system..(wait for 5 mins in boot screen)
3.If it doesnt... try flash philz touch using odin into phone..
In most cases philz touch flashed after cf autroot fites the custom recovery... .
sometimes knox enabled bootloader wont fire custom recoveries instead it fires stock recoveries

[Q] Softbricked my phone. What to do?

I accidentally softbricked my phone. I flashed TWRP and ever since then it's in a bootloop. Can't enter recovery, but CAN fortunately enter download. How can I get my phone running again? I figure I have to use Odin? Where to download the files to use in Odin and how to use Odin?

Yes you will need odin or heimdall to get it working again. If your on a windows machine odin will be your beat choice. I use odin 1.85 but any version should work for this.
What you need.
1. A pc
2. Samsung usb drivers
3. Odin
4. Recovery file with the md5 extension
Install samsung drivers and odin program. Know where the recovery file is saved on your pc (usually in downloads).
Steps to flash revovery
1. On pc open odin make sure re-partition is NOT CHECKED!!
2. Click on the PDA button and select the recovery file you downloaded
3. With battery removed press and hold vol -, home key, power key
4. While still holding key insert battery (I find it easiest to do this with phone upside down)
5. It will boot into a menu vol + should be continue to download mode
6. Now place phone down on your desk or install battery cover (you dont want the battery to fall out during this)
7. Connect phone to pc and you should see in odin that it is connected
8. Click start and it will flash your recovery and reboot
Now you are back up and running. FYI twrp for our phone does not have a developer that has this device. So the current version is not functional and will end up causing the same issue.
I suggest sticking with philz till twrp is fixed. Also twrp does not work for tw 4.3 or any 4.4 rom (aosp or tw).

Use this file http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/l900/philz_touch_6.07.9-l900.tar.md5. The one you linked is a complete stock rom and all you need is a recovery.
