I'm pretty new to rooting and I just rooted my T989 s2 with the newest cwm and cm11. So I'm trying to get wireless tethering to work but the app says "failed to start ad-hoc" or something along those lines. I read that you need to freeze the tetheringprovision or tetheringmanager with titanium backup, but I can't find neither one of those or anything related to tethering in the list of apps on titanium backup. I'm wondering if anybody knows the solution to this? I would really appreciate some help.

After rooting my sprint evo 4g my market no longer works. I have tried the advice from gat (gadgets and tablets) but that did not work. What do I do???
Need more specifics. "Not working" is very general haha
Does this mean:
1) Won't load
2) Won't download apps
3) Isn't showing up at all
4) Is just force closing like it's its job
It will let me even search for an ap most of the time but will not let me download and will force close every time. This puts a damper on tethering because I cannot download the wireless tether after root ap. I'm still on clockwork mod and rooted via unrevoked
I'm actually downloading another ROM, MikFroYo 4.5, in hopes that flashing another ROM would give the market another chance to work properly. All the people I know that have rooted androids, including one with an evo, have fully working markets and can still download aps. I am not sure of another way to get the wireless tether after root or titanium backup. I have been trying to learn from forums and google but I seem to be coming to a dead end on this topic. It seems to be happening to some other people but nobody has given them a useful answer it seems. The best answer I found was from GAT but they were specifically doing the process on a tablet and after trying this process my market was still a lame duck. Also, while someone is checking on this thread (thanks so much by the way, this is the second time I tried to get some feedback on this forum and the first went by unanswered for about a half a week), what would be a good ROM that would not take away 4g capabilities, let me get an ap back like sprint t.v. but still allow most sprint aps (nascar, blockbuster, nova, etc.) to be deleted (although I think I can do this with titanium backup if I can ever get it downloaded), improve speed and battery life, and not be very glitchy/buggy?

Okay, go to the 2nd post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900584
There's a .zip for the stock android market. Boot into recover (if you don't have rom manager, turn off phone, volume down + power, select recovery) and flash the zip. Should install the working stock market. I used it when I uninstalled updates using Titanium Back-up and it deleted my whole market.
thanks dude i'll check it out.

eww, I had high hopes but it still force closes when I try and download wireless tether. Any other suggestions? In the mean time I'm going to see if using another ROM might help the situation...maybe give it a fresh start or something.
Yeah same story after new ROM...not able to download anything yet anybody else had the same problem and came out on top/would love to hear your solution?
What rom were u running first? Try flashing a stock rooted rom? If that doesn't work try ruu but leave s-off so it's easy to re-root quckly.

clockwork standard untouched from unrevoked and now mikfroyo 4.5...still no luck. I'll try another ROM but I think I have to have a new market or something like that. Is ruu unrooting?
Are you wiping data and cache each time you flash a new ROM? If not, you probably need to.
Are you restoring apps with Titanium Backup after flashing the new ROM? If so, only restore user apps (i.e. don't restore system apps). I've seen some squirrelly things happened when restoring system apps.
Last thing, from your home screen, try going in to Settings...Applications...Manage Applications. Tap on the "All" tab at the top and scroll down to Market and select it. Tap on the "Clear Data" button under Cache.
think i got it under control
You need to reflash gapps if you flashed a new cm rom

Every since I updated to gingerbread, it will not let me log in. I saw on the atrix forum that they had a similar problem and it was fixed by Motorola putting a certificate updater app in the Android market. Does anyone have a solution for the EVO?

first off are you rooted? First nandroid current rom...then I would advise restoring an older nandroid when Chase app did work. Download MyBackupRoot from the market(its free) and backup your apk + data. Then nandroid back to current gingerbread rom and restore data with MYBackupRoot and it should work.
When I have problems like this in changing rom versions and come across issues like this I follow my procedure above and it works. I am currently on 2.3.4 with Chase app and no issues at all
I am rooted and I have one of the stock roms. I will give it a try. Thanks!
I restored the app and data from titanium backup. It did not work. does the app you mentioned do something different than tb?
Can someone help me so that I do not have to unroot. I need the chase app to work. Thanks!
I was having the same problem then I used the browser and went to the full site (not mobile) and it did the whole "we don't recognize this device" thing. I had send me text with my pass code, logged in and its been fine so far.
Hi.
I come from an HTC Desire and I have some backups that I made with MyBackup Pro of some app's data. Relevant data like some games progresses, Libra's database, etc. MyBackupPro has an online backup and I backed the data online on the HTC Desire and tried to restore it in the Galaxy Nexus. The Galaxy Nexus recognizes the backup, shows the apps that are backed up, but when I press Restore it says that I should reboot the device and that the restore was OK almost instantaneously. Nothing is restored, no data is transferred to the phone..
Is there any other way to migrate this kind of data? Shouldn't MyBackup Pro be working on the Galaxy Nexus?
Thanks in advance
Anyone?
Maybe the app needs an update for ICS? Try to check their site to see if there's a reported problem, that's most likely the case.
Should have gone with Titanium Backup. I never had much luck with MyBackup anyway. Titanium is rock star on ICS.
The only problem Ive had so far has been restoring SMS with Pro.
Even with busy box installed its suuuper slow at the moment.
I sent them an email, I'll wait for an answer.. But I guess it is due to incompatibilities with ICS too..
AmesCell, I have always used MyBackup while using the Desire, never had a problem. Anyway, I still have the Desire and can use Titanium, but my Galaxy Nexus isn't rooted, and Titanium needs root.

Your signature says your Desire is rooted. Rooting the GN is easy. I go through 4 phones a year. I couldn't imagine doing that without Titanium.
Yes, the Desire is rooted, but I wasn't planning on rooting the GN so soon. I just got it 2 days ago and I want to see how this goes without any "hacks"..
I wouldn't have rooted the Desire in the first place if it wasn't for the lack of updates, etc... That's the main reason I bought the GN, having a more official support. Let's see, I'm almost sure that I'll root it in the future, but I don't want to do it right now.. I'll just wait for the Rerware answer to my email and see how it goes.
Thanks
Any update?
Rerware already answered, but no updates. Although I think I know what the problem is. I am only backup up app's Data, because they are already installed in the GN. But this is a "root only" feature and, for what I understood, non-rooted devices cannot restore this kind of backup, only APK backups. I asked this to the guys at Rerware to see if there is a workaround.
When I have news I'll post them here.

restoring your data/sms/backups is a "hack"
Hi,
Did you manage to find a solution to this problem? My phone is rooted and it still doesnt restore anything. Just like you said it finds the backup but then when you select the arrow next to apps to tick which ones you want to restore nothing is shown..
I need this to restore my game saves, spotify offline music etc
This happened to me with my sensation before. Somehow the backup got corrupted to I deleted it and started from scratch. Sorry to hear this happened to you it seriously sucks losing akk that stuff. What I've been doing is using from manager to restore my data partition and I've never had any issues SO FAR.
Enable advanced options, click restore and restore backup and only select the data.

I managed to solve the problem......
First my story:
I decided to install new ROM on my phone....i backed up apps and data with My Backup Pro (i bought the app)
My phone is rooted of course.
So i installed the new ROM and then i installed the My Backup Pro and started to restoring apps but i didn't get the app/data/app+data popup
and of course i couldn't restore my data from apps. i got really frustrated and browsed the web and couldn't find anything.
I started everything from the begining uninstalled all apps and figured it out that i did something wrong....and that is this that My Backup Pro doesn't work as it should without busy box...u have to install Busy Box before installing the My Backup Pro!
Follow this tutorial in order to restore your apps + data
Backing up apps on android (rooted) after installing new ROM
With My backup pro application
1. Backup apps + data
2. Backup dictionary
3. Backup all other data you want to
Install new ROM and then start restoring by this order
1. first install busy boxes i found there are two (BusyBox and BusyBox installer on the google store. install both)
2. install My backup pro and when asked to install additional options for rooted phone choose yes (now you should be able to choose between app/data/app+data to restore)
3. restore apps + data
4. thats it...enjoy!
It worked for me!! :good:
Just a quick note I am not really good with this but I can follow instructions and everything I know is from reading xda forums or from exploring and trial and error.
So I recently found a option in titanium to make a .zip so that when I install a new rom while I am there i can just install that .zip[ and have the full paid version of titanium there already when I boot up so I don't have to go to the market and get the free version then install my purchase key every time. Well I thought that was great. So I was wondering if there was a way to do that with another program. I use a program that backs up my apn settings and would like to get that on my phone as quick as possible also so the first thing I can do is fix my apn settings. I know that I can make a .zip file with root explorer and .tar files as well is that all I need to do? And where would I go to find the.apk to convert it? I would think it is in system\apps or something like that but I dont see it. So if some knows if this is possible and would be kind enough to post a how to I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks in advance.
I just got my T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 and rooted it. I assumed that like with previous android phones there was a tethering manager file that I needed to delete in order to tether. So using Titanium Backup, I found 'tethering provision' and deleted it...very idiotic thing to do. This appears to have been the file that allows the phone to tether. I can't restore it because there's no backup. I tried a master reset and it didn't come back.
I'm thinking if anyone has there's rooted and can send me the 'tethering provision' file, I may be able to get it working. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, I removed(Froze) that app and TMtetherservice. Then you can start tmobile tethering with this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achmyr.android.froyo&
I also followed the rest of the instructions here
