MIUI General FAQ
Q: How do I root this?
A: Enable root in the perm manager, which can be found in the security folder.
Q: Why is G-Apps not listed for Download?
A: Too Bloaty, add a Google account and install the play store as an APK, I suggest using Aptoide to find it.
Q: 4G LTE isn't working
A: Load the Phone, dial *#*#4636#*#*, goto Phone information, Set preferred network type to LTE/CDMA auto (PRL).
Q: Help! Phone/SystemUI/Keyboard Isn't working/Is Force Closing!
A: Make sure to do a completely clean wipe, also I'm not sure how well this will work if flashed in CWM.
Q: The Browser looks terrible.
A: Settings -> Advanced -> User agent string -> MiOne (It Renders much better & more naturally!)
Q: My Filesystems won't mount/My PC can't see my device/My phone won't act as a MTP/USB Mounting isn't working!
A: Settings -> Developer Options -> Enable Development / USB Debugging (switch both to on)

@Tquetski - Looks awesome, can't wait thanks!!!
Q: have you enabled landscape for miui home, and modified the row/column count to make more suitable for our form factor? I did a hack job some time ago, and it looked quite reasonable in landscape after the mod.
amazing
MIUI for XOOM!? I really like to have it since I got that device and now my prayers get heard!!:highfive: cool, really really cool :good::good:

Tonights the night, and because 4.4 isn't on MiCode yet.
As a matter of fact outside of MI devices, 4.2.2 is the 'supported' android version because development has finished
These releases aren't one-night stands; I'm actually going to provide weekly updates once the bases are sorted lol
Since you guys have a MDPI device you may have to fk around with DPI mods, but the code is solid; with love
Wingray version don't work.

These devices lack the RAM needed so although the code is right it won't boot.
I'm going to need to slim down a lot of **** and adjust resources to MDPI when I get a chance; all the MDPI devices are in a situation where it won't boot/finish booting or doesn't look right if it does because the only resources avail officially are HDPI
Edit: I also made this ROM without regard to the RAM the device has as well, if I removed all the translation stuff it would prob. be ok; I'll have to check into this.

Oh you're right, It has 1 GB.
I really don't know why it doesn't move past the boot logo; do you load the kernel via 3rd pt injector or use zImage? I found the GNex builds which had this issue needed a zImage kernel
Who has Stringray replace the boot.img on it and check

Jelly Bean builds
Now Paranoid Android has their source up on Github i decided to get porting and here it is. Ok so we know Android 4.0 introduced Phone UI and Tablet UI and now in Android 4.1 Phablet UI too! but Paranoid Android gives option to chose which one you want to use for what application. For me being used to Phone UI back on Gingerbread and having a lower DPI is what i love but when i used ICS i loved the tablet apps but missed my Phone UI so i changed my DPI down to 240 didn't like it then 200 then 180 etc. and just couldn't find a sweet spot and still missed the tablet apps.
But now with Paranoid Android (based on CM10 so includes all of their features and more!) i can select Phone UI, Phablet and Tablet UI even if i go past the boundaries (Tablet UI:≥160dpi PhoneUI:≤240dpi) and still change it for it for each individual app. (look at the pics aboce and you will see )
This Rom is compiled by source by me. Use Settings > Paranoid Settings to edit all of your apps. now this edits the files located in /system/etc/paranoid/ please do not manually edit these on your device because this may cause the whole hybrid system to break and don't worry. if this happens use a file manager like es file manager and delete the 'paranoid' folder located in /system/etc/ and then flash one of the layout preferences located in the Downloads Section.
I used the Device and vendor files that THE TE4M have been kindly developing for months! Thank you for you hard work!!!

Any chance of adding clarification on which Galaxy Tab's this rom supports...
Considering the main bulk of remaining developers use the GSM tabs, people like me with CDMA tabs (P1C) are quite often left out due to compatibility!
I'm waiting on Paranoid Android to merge their framework base source into their tree. it shouldn't be to long as the rest builds except for the framework base. as soon as it is merged i will build then release it to you guys

Ok , if you are using CM9 or AOKP rom you are on MTD .
Speaking of MTD and non-MTD. My tab is definitely non-MTD. I'm running the most recent AOKP rom before they converted to MTD.
Can someone give me a TL : DR version of converting to MTD without bricking the stupid thing?

Nice... lucky you
That being said, I really wish I knew how to setup CM9 to be non-MTD... on all devices I have tried, I/O and RAW Read/Write have been faster with EXT4 then MTD setup (shining example is my TF101 or Asus Transformer, some things just became smooth as butta with all partitions as EXT4)
i can see its been asked already....but dont see an answer.
for which model is this for ?
maybe put model# in title so you dont get a bunch of spam in here.

ABOUT:
This is my first ROM thread! I signed up at this forum 2 years ago when i purchased my HTC Desire. So this is kind of a historical moment for me. I wanted to create a ROM that is pretty much standard BUT includes Tablet UI because i dont like the Phablet UI. There are other ROMs that do equal stuff but these come with a lot of extras and are not necessarily stable. I wanted a simple, stable rom that has tablet UI.
A little while after release i wanted to implement some more features. I think this would contradict the whole concept though. That's why I will make flashable zip files with the modifications, so you can decide whether you want the changes or not

Thanks! The rom looks great! Just what I was hoping for. The only issue I've noticed is that Google Now is telling me that the Location Service is turned off. When I check the settings, Access is turned on and GPS and Wi-Fi are both ticked. The web browser isn't able to figure out my location either, so something's going on with the location settings. Appreciate the rom, though!

Is it possible for you to add extended power menu option to include reboot to recovery etc. with power button please?
I am getting a message, Location settings aren't working in google now. Are these working or something wrong at my end. Though all location settings are checked, including the gps.
Hi clavicle,
another user (billplowman) had the same problems with the location settings. I'm not sure why this happens. I assume it has something to do with the gapps. I used the Cyanogenmod gapps and they might have a bug. Im really new to developing Roms which is why i cant really debug your issue.
As a solution i recommend you to try other flashable gapps packages. (Just pick one of the other Rom threads) If it works I'd be grateful if you could post the working gapps here.
Adding extended power menu is on the top of my priority list. If you know some Howtos or any kind of knowledge on how to implement it please let me know!
Thanks for the reply, I will try to install few more gaps and let you know about it.

@schnip here's some help...
For Google Location Service, use the changes in this commit... https://github.com/craigacgomez/and...mmit/52e41df4e67c4aebd51464746a5c8fa0b86bb9d1
For the Advanced Power Menu... here's a git diff of the changes... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34280090#post34280090 but you still need the images...
Great start to the exact ROM I am hoping for. Currently I find the time in notification bar to be small and hulu plus doesn't recognize as supported device (which I noticed on paranoid android rom too...). I tried some gapps but they either crash or location service is broken. Also what happened to tiles?
I def check back and test new versions of this rom. Goodluck and great work so far.

Yes. I have a completely stock Nexus 10. Except that i unlocked and rooted the stock Rom.
Then i took the completely stock AOSP and built a Rom. I flashed that rom as otazip package to see if it works and it does.
Then i took the services.jar and services.odex from the AOSP rom and replaced the corresponding files on my stock rooted rom. (I used adb shell to remove the old files and then adb pushed the new ones)
And it results in a boot loop.
I compiled the rom using this for "lunch" full_manta-user. I used "user" to make sure the rom is odexed because using full_manta-userdebug results in a deodexed rom.

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.
1.Make sure you're on the latest TWRP/CWM.
System Partition:ALL THOSE HAVING BAD BLOCKS PLEASE KEEP SYSTEM PARTITON ~220mb
Code:
misc ya 1M
boot yboot|ro 5M
system ya 210M
cache ya 2M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize
2.MAKE A NANDROID!(OPTIONAL)
3.Wipe data/factory reset in recovery.
4.Flash ROM
5.Flash Gapps
6.Reboot
If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT:
1. Stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
2. Explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
3. Collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

Try another browser. Yesterday I had the same on opera browser. Only chromium has been working properly for now I think.

I decided to try downloading on my device - downloading now directly on my HD2 using the mobile's browser.

Hi,
For those who want to try NATIVESD and flash gapps.
1.Download gapps from gapps-jb-20121011_NativeSD.zip - 90.33 MB
2. replace file mount_NativeSD.sh from inside the zip with file attached (rename mount_NativeSD.sh.txt to mount_NativeSD.sh first )
3. flash zip from recovery

no it doesnt exist yet
and there is a big wifi issue on hd2 4.2.1 roms that probably requires
a new or ported kernel

Thanks for reply, I hear about wifi issue.
For me is biggest problem Data Drops, someone said that is because of MAGLDR - there is something wrong, did you hear about it? I don´t know what to do with magldr beacause there is very very old update.
Thanks
hello, to upgrade from version 2.54 to this, just change the name of the zip to update? or may not be updated and should be installed again erasing the above
thanks

READ THIS POST, IT'S VERY IMPORTANT
Qoute from the creator of AOKPA "When I first got my Galaxy S III this is what I dreamed of eventually running on my phone — A ROM that has all the capabilities of ParanoidAndroid, all the features of AOKP, and one that utilizes CyanogenMod as a solid base. ParanoidKANGdroid is based off CyanogenMod source code with all the features from ParanoidAndroid and AOKP merged into the frameworks and settings. I really hope you all have a good experience with this ROM. I made my own kernel for ParanoidKANGdroid that has overclocking, undervolting, and quite a few performance tweaks. Also, under settings you will see a tab for "Update Center" which will launch goo manager which is where you can receive OTA updates for this ROM. Before I conclude I would like to thank everyone that helped make this ROM possible."

2. Reboot to recovery
3. Wipe cache, dalvik cache, data factory reset
4. Install Rom
5. Reboot and enjoy
If you have an issue and you want to call my attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your working Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread, Cyanogenmod's, ParanoidAndroid's, and AOKP's as well for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence.

Nice rom but the only thing keeping me from keeping this ROM for long is the fact that I can't seem to get it out of 320 DPI every different app I check from the market seems to think its in 240 and refuses to revert it back and also checking paranoid settings and changing it manually I can't for anything to fix it for me

OpenPDroid is a set of modifications to the Android framework and libraries which allows fine-tuning of the data which applications are able to retrieve about your device, your account, your messages, and more. Specifically, it is a Privacy service provider. In short by installing a mod in recovery that modifies a few key files from my ROM you can then install a program from Playstore called PDroid Manager that will allow what information any application can access. GPS, Phone Number, pretty much anything.
Install Instructions for OpenPDroid
*Download the install (update) file to your internal storage
*Reboot and goto recovery
*Install JellyBeer-v4.32-07072013-134012-hikari-openpdroid-20130707-update
*Go to Playstore and download PDroid Manager to access security settings.
Install file here
Uninstall file here
Pdroid Manager from here to control the per app options.

Only been running for the day so not sure of any issues. From now on the only thing that i will continue to PORT is the PAC Rom all my new builds will be from source. PAC just seems to be beyond my ability to build just yet. But you guys are my test subjects so install away and tell me what is playing up.

When i install a new ROM i always do a wipe of CACHE / DATA and dalvik and System. As long as you have a backup you can just restore it.
Is it normal for the boot animation to blink while loading?
