So I wanted to flash AOSP 4.4.2. After I flash the ROM, I wanted to do "reboot to recovery" but it takes a long long time, and stupid me. I took off the battery and when I tried to enter the recovery mode. It's just black and a little stripes.:crying::crying:
I thought bringing back to Stock ROM and flash a temporary CWM Recovery will ended this but....no....
After I bring back to Stock ROM and flash the temporary CWM. It's still black...
Can someone help me?:crying::crying::crying:

I flashed CM10 onto my phone a couple weeks ago, everything went smoothly. Today, I reverted back to stock and locked the bootloader so that I could receive the stock JellyBean update. Well I download the update, reboot phone into fastboot, attempt to go into recovery and I get the red triangle !. I know this is an issue with the phone apparently not finding a recovery boot but why didn't my reverting to stock reinstall the stock recovery? Does anyone have any guides they suggest to get stock recovery back? (I've found a few but thought I would ask).
Now, this is understandable that my phone can't boot into recovery since I flashed CM recovery onto it and whatnot, but I attempted to boot into recovery on my girlfriends phone (same phone, NEVER BEEN UNLOCKED OR FLASHED) and it can't boot into recovery either... Is something going on here or am I just missing a huge piece of the puzzle? I don't really want to have to flash anything on my girlfriends phone to fix it, she's not into the tinkering and would rather not have her data reset. Any help would be appreciated.
And for the record, I did a search to figure this out but at the very least I can only find solutions for people who have flashed CM or similar and nothing pertaining to the problem my girlfriend's phone has.
Tried reflashing recovery already? How did you "revert" to stock?

Used this method:

It worked, I'm on stock ICS, but I didn't do ANYTHING after booting into ICS again and attempting to install JB and booting into recovery. Did I miss something? How do I "flash recovery"?
Unzip the factory image you get from developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Then use fastboot to flash the recovery.
EDIT: red triangle doesn't necessarily mean the recovery is broken. It's just the way it is. If you wish to flash a 3rd party ROM you'll need to flash a 3rd party recovery.

I think you are confusing a few things here. First off, the Android with the red triangle IS the stock recovery main screen. (If you want to flash the update manually, you need CWM -- go into fastboot mode and type: fastboot flash name-of-recovery.img, where name-of-recovery is the recovery that you downloaded and want to flash.) Second, you need the stock recovery for an update to install over-the-air, but you need a custom recovery if you want to flash it manually.

this happened. you installed stock recovery when you reverted, whats the surprise?
and you dont need to relock bootloader to successfully update through ota. seems to me know the op needs to refine his searching skills.

So in the context of my girlfriend's phone where nothing has been done to it in the 4 months she's had it, why would it be giving the recovery error? Also, does flashing the recovery wipe the phone?
It's funny too because I just got the JB OTA but I'd still like to get this figured out.

run the update manually (found on the Update link on efrants sig) through cwm, that should give you a more detailed description of whats going on.
flashing a recovery doesn't wipe the device. unlocking will, btw. its not an error, its the stock recovery!

Alright, I think I got it... so the android with the red ! triangle IS stock recovery? I just remember on my Nexus S being able to boot into recovery and load up a stock .zip update manually without any custom recovery mod. Is this not possible on the Galaxy Nexus then? So what does the stock recovery DO other than sit there and reboot after a minute?

Guys, when I try booting up my friend's Galaxy W into Recovery mode, it succeeds. But then, when in Recovery mode it ONLY shows the CWM icon with orange hat endlessly. I could not choose anything such as restore or flash zip file as the menu doesn't shows up AT ALL. Then, I try flashing the stock recovery hoping it will fix it but still the same, this time it shows the Android out of the box instead.
Why does this happen? What should I do guys?

Stock recovery indeed shows "Android out of the box". Tap on the box (or press menu, I forgot which), and the picture will dim, then the stock recovery menu will appear. If you don't make the picture dim, it will reboot.
Now, as to the original problem, which CWM did you flash? AFAIK *only* Arco's CWM 6.0.1.2 is compatible with Galaxy W. Do not flash any other version, do not flash CWM from ROM Manager app.
I suggest reflashing Arco's CWM 6.0.1.2.

Red,
I would want the stock rather than CWM because doing factory reset on stock recovery is BETTER, right? Or I'm wrong?
Ima,
I have done that but still the problem with Recovery mode, no menu appears on screen. Do you know why?

Nope I think doing factory reset on CWM is better. Because in cwm they have options to completely wipe everything so there is none left if you want a clean install. CWM is just like a better and more advance of stock recovery with additional functions.

I'll try flashing the CWM recovery v6 as the CWM recovery v5 was a failure. I'll let you know later. Thanks red!

Dude... Bricked phones are literally "brick", as in you can't use it. Most likely a failure to start-up, not some glitch or bug that happens to your phone
Hi guys, pretty much as per title. I'd run my phone so it need fully charging, then put it on charge when it's empty. After about 15-30 minutes it just decides to turn itself on and i'm guessing this a is a 'feature' as it did this with the stock HTC ROM and it's doing it with Cyanogenmod.
This really pisses me off and I don't see any point in it, is there any way to turn this off or disable it?
Thanks.
When you ran stock rom, did you also had a custom recovery installed ? If so which one exactly ?
Clockwork Mod.

You flash it through fastboot.
But, first you must know which main version you are on, and then download the right one. Do fastboot getvar all, and it will tell you what to look after.
If I wanna downgrade to 4.1.2, must I need some particular version of CWM before flash it by odin?
I mean, I saw some post where users have troubles with turning on the phone after flashing it.
Hope you can help me, ty.

Hello,
You can use any recovery as it will be overwritten by odin once you try to flash firmware.
But in my case i was unable to revert back to 4.1.2 from 4.2.2. After flashing 4.1.2 all i can see is "Samsung Galaxy Grand i9082" thats all.
Have to reboot by holding down Volume up + Home + Power button.
I can reboot into recovery (Stock recovery) in this case because Philz recovery was overwritten. but from there all i see is dead droid with "!" mark and nothing can be done from there.
So for now it is not possible to revert back to 4.1.2. If you managed to do so please help me also. 4.2.2 is terrible
Thanks!

Thats great, every try is worth an experience.. Kudos :good::good:
Cant seem to downgrade from 4.4.2,
After upgrading I tried to restore using a recovery from twrp but phone was just stuck on logo.
I then tried to restore stock recovery which didnt go well either, after flashing via adb I then tried to reboot into recovery to force a update to stock using update app i was still greeted with the team win logo which after a few seconds would just blink every few seconds, I then had a hell of a job restoring the twrp so I could then boot into recovery and reflash sh*tkat.
Phone flashes sh*tkat roms fine and runs backup and restore, so does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? If they could enlighten me I would be most grateful !
Im not sure for huawei mate but for p6 you needed a mid step before you can go down to jelly bean again. And this was all with stock recovery/rom. So search the forum and see if thetes a file like that.

It actually should work for you. You are having trouble going back to stock recovery right? Use custom recovery to flash the file in that post and then you won't have a problem going back to stock recovery. Then you will be able to downgrade to stock 4.2.2

If you have custom rom up then you probably have root too. So try this: get an app called rashr from store and allow it root permisions, then get the stock image of the recovery and put it in the storage and flash it with the app. Get the update.app ready too (in dload folder) on the storage too and try to reboot in recovery.
