Over at Android Police, there is an article today that says Sprint Galaxy S4s are now receiving the 4.4 update from Google. It is also confirmed in a thread over at the Sprint S4 XDA forum.
According to Android Police, the update has added "Zact Mobile compatibility" - whatever that is - and a Prevention Information popup alert.
For anyone who wants to download the update and tinker with it - PROBABLY BEST NOT TO FLASH IT TO YOUR T-MOBILE DEVICE - it can be downloaded from Google's servers at http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/sprint_samsung_l720/8069446ccb676c347a698e64b2df33882547f017.USER_L720_SPT_MK2_CSB_user_RP_to_NAE_CSB_user_RP_Update_FWD.zip
This news is quite odd, given that the international versions haven't received the update yet, and Sprint has probably added their standard bloatware to it. I wonder how long before T-Mobile gets it...
Zact Mobile is a new provider. They're a "virtual provider", using someone else's infrastructure. Not sure which one, but probably Sprint's, since it's a Sprint update.

If I import it and lets say there was an update tomorrow or in the future how would I get the update since its unlocked and its not branded. I know there straight from Google but how do they push the update if I were to activate it on T-Mobile? someone please tell me. How does this go about for this phone

It will just be automatically updated. I'm in the u.s. on T-Mobile also and when the nexus one came out people from all over the world exported and they all received the updates at the same time. It does matter what country, network speed or if you are on wifi.

Your device periodically checks in with Google's servers. It matters not what carrier you are on. Updates are sent out based on IMEI.

As we all know, Google will be releasing the 'pure' S4 on June 26, almost a month away. I'm looking to upgrade my phone since I've been using the original S1 Vibrant since it was released ~4 years ago. I was thinking of getting the T-Mobile S4 but if T-Mobile ends up selling the Google S4 at retail next month, I'll just wait it out. [Reason I won't buy it through the Play store and am hoping for T-Mobile is due to T-Mobile's financing plan - I can't afford to pay 649 up-front]
What do you guys think, will T-Mobile stick to their own TouchWiz S4 or will they sell Google's 'pure' S4?

Well currently it appears that the Google version is just the t-mobile version with no bloat. That being said if your going to root anyway there should be no reason that you shouldn't be able to just flash the "pure" firmware when it comes out.
That firmware should work on our phone just fine like it came with it. I don't think T-Mobile will sell the Google edition. As far as I know it's only gonna be available via Google but who knows.

That's strange because I just purchased mine yesterday from my local tmobile store.......... and mine is NOT the Google Phone
it's the Samsung Galaxy S4 M919 model. It cost me $630 bucks plus tax and I paid it all up front, no contracts.
The "Nexus" Galaxy S4 is sold exclusively through the Google Play Store

Yeah, I'm still not sure whether T-Mobile will sell Google's version, though I suspect that it doesn't make sense if they do, since T-Mobile already has their own version.
Hopefully we'll be able to flash Stock android to T-Mobile's version. I'm assuming we can do that only if the phones are exactly the same - after all, it would simply be a software issue at that point.
I spoke to a tmobile rep and they will be selling it....

I have come to notice tmobile isnt updating the firmware...I belive we are two updates behind. My buddys att s4 just recived its THIRD update. It included new camera firware and many enhancements. So has verizon and sprint....anyone know what tmobile issue is? I called both butbof course there is no info...

Couldn't agree more. This is starting to piss me off. I said in another thread that it seems T-Mobile has been extremely concerned about building it's customer base, but is screwing over those customers after they've signed up. To not have received the app to SD update yet is BS.
Maybe they're waiting to do a big update to directly 4.3 or they are just slacking off... '.'
I agree...I just dont understand why things are so secretive around tmobile.. and a 4.3 update is months away...we are just waiting on bug fixes...

Yeah it been 3 weeks mate since the app2sd firmware update. Im getting annoyed. But the phone still is pretty sweet I cant complain. In my opinion I think T-Mobile might be waiting on the 4.3 why send out multiple updates when you can kill several issue and add many enhancements with just one update? Idk either way im getting tired of constantly checking for THE update every day

If you guys don't mind losing wifi calling, then just go to the 9505 thread and flash that firmware. I don't use wifi calling so I don't mind. However, if you rely heavily on it, then I can see the issue

I am currently over there partly for that reason, but I agree with all the previous posts - TMo is dragging their feet and dropping the ball. Canada got the latest firmware update last week - would really like to see it here.
what's included with the new update we're missing out on?
Apps to sd card, I believe HDR video recording, and general speed and stability enhancements.
Hey the only reason us low life's over at att are getting so many updates, they are trying to block our bootloader fix..haha
I would take a tmo device in a sec, if I had the chance.
I find carrier updates are mixed bag. I remember the last T-Mobile update on my old Galaxy Note 2 blocked the unlocking through the service menu, but also added LTE & HD voice calling.
I would prefer a big update than a biweekly update and bugged.
Chances are its a big update (340+ megs) and still bugged, and took 3 weeks longer than everyone else.
yeah the updates usually block exploits like on the note 2 there was a trick to carrier unlock the phone with the stock firmware than tmobile released a update that blocked it ATT is worse though
Maybe T-Mobile variant's Firmare isn't as buggy as other carrier's

Agreed. And I feel that T-Mobile may want to push out 4.3 before everyone else so they might be focusing on that. Never really know. Plus look at all the other carriers, they're getting locked bootloaders, unrootable kernels etc. So we just gotta wait.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2
No offense to anyone, but I feel the "I'd rather wait for a big update because the other carriers are pushing out locked bootloaders" argument is moot. If T-Mobile is going to lock the bootloader it's going to happen no matter the update size or importance. If they pushed one out now and locked it we'd only have more time to crack it.
I also think it will be one big update straight to 4.3 . Just hope that we dont loose the awesome features we already have.

I have a hard time believing we see 4.3 in the next few months. My wifes note 2 doesnt even have 4.2 yet.
I really don't think so. 4.3 is coming to the nexus first and then Google edition phones. And then a few months later they will push it out to the carriers. T-Mobile isn't updating the s4 because they're focusing on their new plans and features like jump. Which sucks for us. But whatever.

I was told at the local ATT Store that in order to use APP to SD I need to get 4.2.
I was also told that I could do this from Samsungs web site.
Unfortunately I went to the website and was unable to get 4.2
Can anyone tell me how I can get 4.2 on my ATT Note 8.0 LTE version?
Thanks

There is no known 4.2 for the AT&T Note 8.0. The salesperson doesn't know what he/she is talking about.

What is the latest OFFICIAL OTA or Kies Android version available for AT&T Note 2? I'm not talking about some "leaked" one...
I went to AT&T service center a few months ago and they flashed it with 4.3

Thanks, how can I download and install? The search for updates says "the process was interrupted and there are no updates available"...
I run the sim-unlocked phone on T-Mobile (the original phone firmware was not molested in any way).
Mine came OTA to 4.4.2 but have gone to AT&T corporate store for earlier upgrade when OTA failed repeatedly. The interruption error comes up for various reasons but you just have to try again on a stable WiFi connection or go to corp store, not reseller.
