Is there a Stock OTA Android 4.4.2 Rom out yet?
CM 11 nightly freezes up 2 or 3 times a day. Battery dies faster. I don't care for the keyboard or dialpad. The one thing I do like about the CM11 rom is that it doesn't block my tethering like the old stock rom.
I agree with you. I like CM11 also but for my daily driver I need something more stable. I'm running Wicked Rom V5. it's 4.3.

Slim is very stable for me. MyRom is also running great as well if you want to stick with TW.

My phone hasn't frozen yet. 1) CF-Auto-Root, 2) TWEAKED rom, and 3) the XPosed framework.
Next up is Crossbreeder and I've already got Ad Away blazing badvertisements away so ultimately I am very happy.
To answer your question, there is nothing currently 4.4.2 for the Tmobile Note 3 that will be 100% stable. No CM build is 100% there, and there is no Tmobile source code available to build a kernel that won't reboot or lock up on you.
Temasek's CM 11 rom is completely stable.
No force closes, no random reboots.
Completely perfect.
Been my daily driver for weeks.

Different video drivers & kernel for different GPU and different radio, bootloader...
You will brick Your Gnexus dude
i have try some other rom 4.4...
so far i like rom CM11(kitkang)...
Try the omni based FML KitKat, it's smooth and mostly bug free.
If it helps I am enjoying shiny rom 1/4/14. It has gotten rid of the graphical glitches and had good battery life. I have had only one reboot in the last two days.

SlimKat is another good option. Glad that we are slowly moving towards stability in terms of KitKat roms. Now we can use the phone a little bit more i guess
Tried CM and LiquidSmooth ROMs. Both are stable and have very few issues and are improving everyday. Hopefully OMNI starts to become more stable soon. I want to try that multi window feature.

vanir rom works well too
Just look for a good 4.4 rom for Galaxy Nexus. The unofficial CM for example is very good. Flashing the Nexus 4 image will ruin your phone.
Cm remix 4.4 is really awesome and stable.

Do not flash it like this way.
It wont success and may be get a damage on your GNX.
If you want to try to run Android 4.4 on your GNX, there are lots of 3rd rom, like CM, AOKP, Slimkat...etc
Running the cyanogen 11 and am very impressed with it so far. Got the Xenon ROM sitting in memory and will flash that eventually.
CM11 is really running like a charm on my gnx
Im using SlimKat and its pretty great so far, aslong as your do the artifact patch
Hello guys is there a way to flash the factory image from recovery ? I broke the usb port. Thanks in advance-
now which rom u use and which rom u flash next
Stock ROM+Xposed Framework+Gravity+francos kernel, gives me pretty much all I need and want. That being said, I do plan on installing MultiROM and trying this out.

Stock ROM rooted with xposed framework, root and everything. Seems like it's the most stable ROM, but I'm going to try CM11 for the extra features !

Scrosler's clean rom 2.6. I'll probably flash cleanrom 2.7 when it comes out, as clearnrom suits my needs.
CleanRom & Franco Kernel

On my Nexus 7 2013? Cyanogenmod 11, because of the extra features. Not sure if this ROM improves battery life compared to stock ROM, but at least it does on my Nexus 5.

+1, and I have Elementalx 2.4 with minumal tweaks.
OmniRom as they are a new team with some good ideas like multi window however currently not implement of their official nightly builds. Also has opendelta which is an ota with a twist. Trying it out so far so good and stable running ART.

Also I'd like to say they seem to have a lot more activity on their gerrit than say PA, which translates to a more enjoyable testing experience (at least for me) due to more changes in nightlies.
Mahdi ROM for nexus 4, will probably stick to this or purity until carbon release their 4.4 ROM

SlimRom 4.4.2. build 2.6 with ElementalX 2.6 kernel.
Everything is working smoothly, the only feature i miss is keyboard arrows buttons in navigation bar when typing.
Hi,
I've had my Galaxy Nexus for about a year and have just been running stock Android. I would like to try installing a custom ROM on my phone.
I am planning on using Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit program to unlock and root my phone.
Now, to my question. There are so many ROM's available that I feel overwhelmed when trying to choose which one to use. My only requirements in a ROM is that it has to be stable and give good battery life. Can someone recommend a good one for me to try?
Thank you!
Its hard to anwer it because everyone has its preference since every device acts differently with certain ROM. For example, I use OmniMetal and Im pretty satisfied how it works. You should try few ROMs and find which one suits you best. Read some topics, decide which options you need, and which you dont, which Android version you prefer... Maybe you should start with some standard ROMs such as CM, AOKP, AOSPA...
As I alread said, its question that is hard to answer, and its also disrespectful to every dev since they are all doing it for free

I'm a guy like you who don't want the hassle of updating the rom every week or so. I moved to cm11 from stock 4.3 rom. But flashing a new nightly every other day to be up to date is not my thing. I do follow forums regularly but don't not a flash-a-holic. I know cm11 is very stable and i can stay on a milestone release. But knowing that an update is a available is available makes my hands itchy to flash it. Suddenly shiny rom 4.4 appeared on our threads. It's close to stock. Just like how stock 4.3. Been running shiny from a month. No issues as of now. Paired shiny rom 4.4 with dirtyv and my phone is smooth.
If you are looking for a stable rom like stock 4.3. I'd recommend you shiny rom.
If you want a fully optimised featured rom, go with cm, omni, liquid smooth, vanirs, pa etc. Let me tell you. Every 4.4 rom out there is smooth and stable. But flashing roms every week to be on latest is not my thing. So i settled with shiny 4.4.

Thanks! I will give Shiny ROM a try.
I mean, anything that says STABLE on the thread title or thread will let you know. SlimKat is stable and it works great.
Once you decide on which ROM to run I highly recommend installing gravitybox using Xposed Installer, which will give you just about every customization/feature/option that's available on most custom ROM builds.
Seriously almost evrry rom is stable. I cant think of one that isnt..

If you want stable kitkat on your gnex just flash latest cm 11 nightlie otherwise just use stock jb 4.3 with xposed installer an gravity box module for extra customization.Forget about every other custom rom because cm is the godfather of roms an usually way ahead in development.

Can't say anything against that, only custom rom I've tried and I see no reason to change it. The nightlies get updated OTA wich is smooth as silk.
Like others have said, if you are looking for a ROM with a few more customization features than stock, CM11 nightlies are pretty stable. I'd recommend starting with that and see how your device responds. I had been on the omni based ROMs for a while but I just tried the new Paranoid Android Beta 6 ROM by sd3993 and it is running so smooth. Almost all other ROMs I tried had slight issues like the music stuttering when I turned on/off my screen, which I haven't seen on this ROM. I have yet to see how battery life fares, but it is performing spectacularly in terms of smoothness. Once you have found a ROM that is to your liking, then maybe research flashing some kernels and start unlocking some true power on your device. Good luck in your search!
Thanks for all the replies! :good:
I'll go ahead and add Slimkat and CM 11 to my list to try.

gravitybox doesn't have custom animations right? i quite like that in OmniROM..
I'm using parandoid android, it's still on beta, but for me is the best, very smooth, and stable
I'd recommend CyanFox. Its stable, good amount of customizations and feels quite snappy on my nexus. Also, gapps are integrated...

I'm using omnimetal rom. It's smooth and have a special feature--multi-window. The rom is also stable, no reboot or any serious problem.
Just settled down on a ROM and setup for my S3 and now I'm moving on to my Note 8. Rooted and got Philz's Touch Recovery 6 on it.
I'm looking for a good stable 4.4.2 ROM for it. I know not all of the available ones show up here on XDA so I'm shouting out for suggestions. All I can find so far are weekly/nightly releases and I'd rather start off with one deemed "stable" if it can be helped.
I have tried out the last SlimKat weekly, and I'm messing around with CyanogenMod 11 too. I'd rather not stick with CM but I think I might've just had a bad experience with it from the S3 (Iffy camera functionality and a few other things that brought me to another ROM).
Has anyone tried any 4.4.2 ROMs, or know of any good/up-and-coming 4.4.2 ROMs for the Note 8.0 that are worth it? I have the n5110.

You can have a look to Civato's ROM. It's based on Samsung Stock Rom, then should be pretty stable.

Thanks! I'll look into that one. I am a little weary of Knox, and I'm not a fan of Samsung's email client with corporate accounts but this looks promising.
Alright, so my dad has the Sprint Note 2 with Ma7 stock TouchWiz rom rooted. I don't want to put him through a whole firmware upgrade so I was just going to install an AOSP rom, it has to be 4.4 because he nor I like 5.0. I would like to know which one is stable and won't require any updates. The reason he wouldn't switch to AOSP before was because they had bugs. Thanks

CyanogenMod 11 (Android v4.4.4) is my current daily driver and very stable. I run Nova Prime launcher on top of it for a bit of a TouchWiz-ish feel, and then I'm running NoteBuddy to get some of the basic S-Pen functionality back so that the S-Pen isn't a complete waste. I've tried to move up to CM12 several times, but it's just not as stable and now Android 5.1 is dropping, so basically that instability is going to start all over again...
