[Q] Fullscreen widget? - Zooper Widget General

Rather than have to use multi picture live wallpaper (I hate that bloated app), I'd like to just use zooper to show backgrounds, but is there any way to have them fill the whole thing?
This is using Nova Launcher.

Kind of. Try Themer.

Would really not rather have to install the whole themer suite to be able to do this, there must be a simpler way?
It puzzles me that launchers don't let you set different wallpapers per page as standard, what's up with that??

If you have gaps between your Zooper widget and the edges of the screen, change your homescreen grid. Most times even numbered grid like 8X6 seem to work best.
Your main problem for the "whole screen" approach will be the navbar. There is no way to get a widget "behind" it, so your only option would be to hide it via Immersive Mode. This would require root though.

I'm working on a fix, but I have another question/gripe: Is there any way to stop zooper from caching the selected image, and keep using the one I selected from the location it is in? It would help a lot with changing an image, copying it over to the phone, then changing the widget to choose the new image rather than the cached one. Very annoying.

Ugh. Feeling frustrated here.
I'm trying to make my backgrounds the full resolution of the phone, 1920x180.
I can't get it to look right like this: (the green background will be changed to grey, it's there to help me adjust it.)
But I'm having to make the files like this:
(In order to get the above image)
What's going on? Why can't I just use a full resolution image?

The resolution you quote is for the full screen of the device but this includes the navbar too. What Android and thus Zooper get as the rendering screeen is your device resolution - navbar (- statusbar if you don't hide it in Nova for instance). So if you have aimage that's the full (device) resolution it won't fill the width of the device because of the different ratios between device resolution and actual rendering resolution.

Sigh. The solution - so simple. /facepalm
I just set the image as a background across all pages. It's the same on each one, so there was really no need to do all this.
Now if only I could somehow set it without quickpic/novalauncher trying to crop it, when it's the perfect size.

The fruits of my 3-hour long labour, when the solution was so simple...
Still, I'm wondering if there is any way to stop zooper from caching images and just use the ones in the same location as they are selected.

Looking good! Worth the effort I'd say
And to answer your question: no, there isn't. Zooper always caches images (probably for performance reasons).

Thanks. Another quick question - when I open the zooper widget and select an element to modify, is there no way to go back to the main zooper window to select another widget without exiting and going back in to the app drawer and launching it again? Another annoyance.

Also no on that one. I prefer to keep the OnTap for widgets intact as long as possible so I can enter the edit mode just by tapping them for this reason and only change it at the last possible moment.

Rather than making a new thread, is it possible to re-create the battery widget seen in my screenshot with zooper? (Always in favour of using less apps than required).
I'm guessing it is, perhaps I can try modifying the battery/clock widget that comes with zooper?

A tip for creating wallpapers for the 101

edit: Sorry, Seems this only works with Zeam Launcher at the moment
and you need the option checked in preferences/workspace to manage
wallpapers internally.
If you want to create a wallpaper in photoshop for your 101,
so that the whole of your image is shown in landscape mode.
(without using multipicture or similar).
All android phones etc take the width of the screen in pixels when it is in
portrait mode and double it (to allow for the paralax scrolling effect you
get when you flip through your homescreens). The height is just the screen
height in pixels.
So on the 101 this is 1200 pixels (2 x 600 pixels) by 1024 pixels.
However, as the tablets are normally viewed in landscape and not portrait
like a phone, this isnt very good.
For some reason Archos havent accounted for this, that is why, even though
you select the whole (or part) of your chosen wallpaper with the 'crop' tool
when applying a wallpaper, It never shows all of your picture.
I have been playing around with a few tests and have worked out the exact dimensions
in pixels of the portion that is actually shown on your 1200x1024 pixel homescreen.
if you follow the instructions below, you can show all the chosen image on the
homescreen:
1. open your chosen image
2. select the crop tool and set it to a fixed size of 978 x 570 pixels and 72 dpi
3. crop your image
4. choose your background colour with the eyedropper tool (it wont be seen when
applied, I used black though)
5. go to edit, canvas size, and set the reference point to the centre so that it adds
canvas all around the image
6. set the new canvas size to 1200 x 1024 pixels, click ok
7. save the image as a jpg
You will now have your wallpaper. Tranfer it to your archos via usb and apply the wallpaper.
Hope you find that useful
mine looks like this before you apply it.
{

}
but only shows the image when applied.
Nicely done. It'll come in handy.
I assume that the image has a black border above and below when viewed in portrait?
Also, that's a nice background. I think I shall yoink it
your welcome.
yes it does unfortunately, but I hardly ever put mine in portrait when using the homescreens.
Hey, I tried your image, but it didn't work for me. It shows a black bar in landscape along the top.
I notice the the image dimensions are 1023x873. I know it's asking a lot, but would you be able to upload the image as an attachment rather than an image? I don't wanna go editing an already edited image. Photocopy of a photocopy as such. I know I won't be able to crop it perfectly. No Photoshop installed on my work computer.
Thanks!
odd, maybe its because im using zeam launcher, I havent tried it in the stock launcher yet, I'll take a look tonight.
see orkcreation on the appslib or the market
edit: Sorry, Seems this only works with Zeam Launcher at the moment

I'll work on it.
Seems as if you have found one way.... but there is another....
Im using very large images around 2500 x 1400 or so, then resizing them to around 1200 x 650 (somewhere in that area so that the image doesnt stretch).
I also sharpen the image alittle too much to give a better resolution effect.
I then use the multipicturelivewallpaper app to apply the image as the default wallpaper using the "show entire image" option.
Im using adw EX with the wallpaper scrolling OFF.
In landscape it works perfect, vertically is not too bad but obviously you cannot see the left and right farthest sides of the image. There are not black bars to be seen though.. The only time i ever turn the a101 vertical is when reading and ebook...which is never..
There is a theme thread here is your interested. I have also posted over 100 wallpapers pack that you can download. I have already resized them and listed a download link the the mplw.apk.
example....
thanks.
I was trying to find a way that meant not having to use a live wallpaper (which multipicture is) or additional app to get it working, but I really appreciate the link.
by the way, your dropbox link seems to be broken though, I cant get the wallpaper pack.

Vertical scrolling launcher

I created some image tiles for my home screen; something similar to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
However I'm trying to make it function more like the Android Market home screen, where you scroll vertically as opposed to horizontally.
I'm using Go Launcher EX and as far as I've gathered none of the launchers I've tried have the option to scroll vertically.
Does anyone know of any launchers that have that ability?
Nice!

I tried Win 7 Launcher previously but you're only limited to tiles 1x1 or 1x2 & some of the tiles that come preconfigured are locked onto the screen (i.e you can't remove them).
Actually what I'm doing is nothing really more then creating tiles & placing them onto the screen. I wish though that I did know how to create a launcher, I'm just using a pre-existing one, though none have the vertical scrolling feature that I would like.
Can you decompile it make the necessary mods repack sign and test? I know I am making it sound easy. I know nothing of developing so I can be of much help.

Well it is a vertical launcher but after messing with it for awhile it does not allow me to remove the preset icons (you can only remove ones you create) & if using tiles you cannot get them to align in such a manner that they touch end to end. I was hoping to use the launcher to create tiles of my own using Desktop Visualizer. This is what I have created using Go Launcher, just want the home screens to scroll vertically. My ultimate goal is to create a home screen that scrolls vertically & create something that looks very similar to the Android Market:
I have send an email to the golauncher developers too and vot one back. But i think it's just a standard reply so i don't expect any luck there
EL TEJANO i want exactly the same thing. I've spend so many hours on the Internet searching with no luck. It's getting frustrating. I really hope golauncher or any other good launcher like ADW or Launcher Pro can add this function
So this thread is dead now?

There should be no dependencies.
However try integrating it into the firmware (it was designed to work from /system/app)- ICS does restrict launcher behaviour if it is not a system app (like for Apex- you can't put a widget from Drawer if it's a user app)

No, it is for all screen sizes (well, maybe except qvga but I didn't test this)
Like Trebuchet Concept, Looking Forward
Once I figured out how to use it, I kind of like the minimalist approach. Dragging app icons and widgets to the screens is much quicker than click, click, find, click, ... and the widget re-sizing dot feature touted in Jellybean is already there (but can be applied asymmetrically for some strange results).
However, this thing is still primitive. No properties except wallpapers.
I put on adw (former XDA launcher) just to have a more usable system. I do not look for fancy eye-candy like go. Just some simple properties like:
Grid density--I like fitting more icons on the page (I find the adw refitting not the best so leave that unchecked).
Along with this, might need the widget auto-refit idea from Jellybean.
Number of home screens (elementary).
Last but not least, a backup and restore.
Another interesting idea I got by accident in another launcher: superimpose icon over larger widget. When clicked, takes precedence, of course. Since screen real-estate, especially in smaller phones, is at a premium, this could be a "killer."
Two bugs I found:
Possible to place two icons in same place on app bar. Embarrassing.
Widgets did not "come back" after reboot sometimes.
Got a Nice Version!
There are multiple versions around for download, without any systematic way of choosing other than: The Biggest Has More Features Implemented. I found a 10 meg version in a flash-able zip that has most of what I wanted already there!
Still needs a backup and save, and important: way of resetting as the default launcher
The general widget re-sizing works great, even re-positioning to a halfway spot so the re-sizing makes sense. Great.
Minor bugs around:
The news and weather widget re-sizing works incorrectly. ADW does it fine.
Icon label text is cut off (at least on 5-row view). Vertical padding makes it worse. Needs be tucked in closer to the icon.
I might assume that a somewhat larger apk is around somewhere with more features and fixes. Once I can get it again as default launcher, I will play with it some more.
It did not passed on my 7 inch tablet :-( There is margins at the bottom and top with a height of regular icon size.

Didn't try it with TW, but I'm pretty sure it will work. It only relies on which image or folder of images is assigned to which respective homescreen. I mostly ran Go Launcher EX when I was stock and not even rooted. It does work with Nova, ADW and Trebuct(sp?) as well. I've ran it on CM10.1, AOKP, JellyBeer, JellyBam, ParanoidAndroid, LiquidSmooth and Vanilla RootBox. All worked fine. I'm running Vanilla RootBox with Go Launcher HD for tablets right now and MPLW is working perfectly.
The only thing I can suggest is if you do end up having problems making it switch properly between homescreens, try scrolling down to its settings and play around with the choices under "Workaround for some home application." I learned that "For Honeycomb Tablet" seems to work the best for my set up, which is landscape mode.
Here are some examples of my homescreens with various ROMs, stock to custom, with each running MPLW:

Hi,
Yes, it IS possible to get different wallpapers on different home screens. ( Assuming that each home screen has it own STATIC wallpaper.)
I've got SG Note 2 with Nova Launcher Prime.
The number of home screens is not critical (I personally have 7 of them.)
As was mentioned you would need MultiPicture Live Wallpaper (MPLW). So install it.
Here is the sort of the tut for this task.
1. Prepare the wallpapers you want to allocate and put the exact number of them (e.g. 7 wallpapers if you have 7 screens) in separate folder. (FYI, I haven’t experimented with the external SD card, since I already had those 7 pictures in the internal storage.)
2. Go to Nova Launcher’s settings and enable (use ON radio button) Wallpapers scrolling under the Desktop menu. Quit Nova settings.
3. Choose Wallpaper menu item under the Menu Key and then, choose the Live Wallpapers.
4. Chose MPLW and then, tap its settings button.
5. Then, Common settings > Picture Source > Picture folder. Set the path to the folder with your wallpaper images.
6. Under the Picture Folder menu set the Selection settings to specify on which wallpaper will be on what screen, etc.
7. Use SGN2 Back and set the rest of the Common settings options (BG color, Crop, transitions etc.) under the Screen Settings menu. Make sure that you select the NEVER radio button under the Picture change interval menu.
8. Use SGN2 Back key again and tap Set Wallpaper button. Voilà!
2 notes: a) It seems like NO workaround options that MPLW offers is needed... I just set it to NONE and it worked just fine for me; b) since I had earlier changed as I wanted the Lock screen using the settings SGN2 provides, I didn’t actually try hard to make the “Use lock screen settings” option work. At least simple selecting that checkbox and pointing to the specific image did NOT work – the lock screen wallpaper remained the old one.
I hope that this tut will work for you too and maybe not only for Note 2. Honestly, when you have the specific wallpaper for each screen, this is not just looking cool , but is helpful too (better icons/folders visibility).

Memnoc's home screens set up [UCCW] [Zooper Widgets] Galaxy Nexus full support

Since I develop these themes on my Gnexus, I thiught it would be appropriate to post them here as well, where it's easier for you, gnexus owners, to apply all the skins. Enjoy
Hi everyone, I finally decided to share my work. I thought a lot about to put these as paid skins/widgets, but I finally decided to share them for free, because I feel very bounded to open source philosophy, and because this way I can pay back all the people that, as me, share their work for free. Nothing against paid works, they all deserve to be paid, the amount of time I spent on any of these set up it's sometimes just absurd, and yes I'd like to gain some money for that, but I prefer to let the users decide wether or not give a free donation, as I always did. No more words, just enjoy my themes, I hope you like them:good:

I don't often use other themers/developers stuff, but when I do it, I always like to credit them. Ideas, inspiration are something that comes for free, but still they are the basics to realize anything creative. So I will give a general big thanks to all of the following, wonderful people.

Troubleshooting post
Tips and Tricks
We all know that apply those kind of themes can be a very PITA :angel: By the way, there are some workarounds I learned, and I want to share them with you, because I know they will help you. I'll refer particularly to my themes, but sure they can be applied on any theme with the same situation.

First: Wallpaper
I own a Galaxy Nexus (maguro), it means that I develop my themes on a 1280x720 screen resolution; as a consequence, the wallpapers I provide to you implie this resolution. What about if you own another device?
Well, there are basically two ways to fix this issue:

Click to collapse
First: for pro users
-take a screenshot of your device screen, it will give you a perfect wallpaper with your screen resolution
-open that screenshot on a image editor, Photoshop, Gimp, whatever.
-Now, open the wallpaper as a level (assume that we are dealing with a 1280x720) onto your screenshot, and resize it accordingly.
done
Second: any user
-Dwonload one of these two applications, or you find a simalr one, use that one, it doesn't really matter
Wallpaper Wizardrii
or
Image2Wallpaper
-the point of both of these two applications is exactly size a wallpaper with a different resolution than your device.
-resize the wall accordingly
done
Hot spots, and clickable but invisible spots
A nice trick I learned is how to make an hotspot invisible, but still clickable. Suppose that we have a skin with a part we want it clickable, app drawer for example, take Circle Skin as reference.
You see the red circled app drawer icon? Well, that's not an icon, it's part of the UCCW skin, it means it's a bitmap pasted onto UCCW skin. You can either make it as an hotspot through UCCW, this way:
-touch the skin
-UCCW editor will open (*if nothing happens, it means you locked the skin! Go to UCCW app, click the three dots in the upper right screen corner/Lock widgets (hotpsot mode) MUST BE OFF
-now, find the your images, that app drawer icon in our example, and assign it an hotspot
modify objects/hotpost/choose what you need
You can also use another trick, and it works this way:
-place the icon you want to open clicking that very specific part of the skin, we want to open the app drawer, so I will place a Nova shortcut to open the drawer.
-of course the icon it's just unappropriate, we want it clickable, but invisible.
-in order to achieve this goal, long press on the icon or the shortcut/edit/choose an image from your gallery/apply the png available below
download
-this is nothing more than an invisible.png I made through an image editor
-select this ong as your new icon image, and voilà, the icon it's still there, but now it's invisible:good:
*NOTE: make sure that once you did that, the icon, the clickable but invisible one, it's emphasized (put in to the foreground), otherwise the skin will overlap it and it won't be clickable!

Skins designed to match a wallpaper
It means, especially when it comes to me, that I often realize set up that involves a precise match between skins and wallpaper. This is a bit messy, especially when it comes to apply the skin on a different resolution device. What can you do? Well, my best advice is to play with grid size, and try to obtain a wallpaper the closest possible to the screenshot I provide you as a reference. Also, make sure to hide the parts I tell you, because if I developed the skin hiding my navbar, if you try to apply that very skin with your navbar visible, all the skins will make a step up, and the mismatch between skin and wallpaper will result hugely visible.
Last advice: yes, I know UCCW and ZW are scary for non expert users, at least the first time, but guys, I left you the skin fully editable, I didn't lock any of the elements, it means that with a bit of work you're virtually able to adapt my themes to WHATEVER resolution/device/situation. That's up to you, I can help by the way:good:
