MIME Ghost - Nexus 5 Accessories

Hi,
I see that there are many good reviews on this product provided from MIME.
I naturally went to amazon, hoping it'd be cheaper, and provide 2 day shipping. Sadly, that was not the case.
BUT - keep reading - it's cheaper on the website !
I think many people would usually assume that if one were to buy from a company's website, one would usually encounter shipping fees.
MIME PROMOTES a freeshipping coupon ( 12238) on the top of their website.
Much props to this new company.
As for the new phone owners :
I've been looking for a screen protector to put on my nexus 5, and have been looking at screen protectors that would be a good investment.
Over an hour of constant skimming and reading forums, it seems that MIME's Ghost glass tempered screen protector is well regarded, and is comparable to SPIGEN's Glas.t , but for a fraction of the price.
I also have read in numerous places that the Glas.t has been having sensitivity issues.
Conclusion: I went with the MIME Ghost
now to look for a case...

So did you get it?

Thunderbolt Screen Protectors

It looks like the phone might finally be releasing soon, so I am about to buy a screen protector. There are a few kinds out on the market right now, so I am curious about what other people are getting, or have had experience with in the past.
These are a few that I have seen so far. The prices posted are from the products main website, and may be cheaper or even more expensive from other sources.
Ghost Armor - $14.99

Boxwave (Anti-Glare) - $12.95

Boxwave (Crystal) - $12.95

ZAGG invisibleSHIELD - $14.99

Skinomi TechSkin - $11.95

Seidio Ultimate Screen Guard (Crystal Clear) - $9.95

Steinheil Ultra Series ( Ultra Crystal, Ultra Fine, or Ultra Oleophobic) - $13.99

I know there are some cheap screen protectors on ebay, but when the phone costs this much I don't mind paying a few bucks extra to get better quality.
My current phone has a matte screen protector, but there is a loss in screen quality, so with the new phone I am going to try to avoid the matte, even though I HATE fingerprints.
I put a ZAGG invisibleSHIELD on my iPad, and I'm not really impressed with it. I guess it is doing it's job. I don't care for the texture, fingers don't slide easy, and you can definitely tell there is a screen protector on there. It looks like the Skinomi TechSkin is a very similar product, they even have a picture of the film being poked with a ball point been, just like ZAGG does.
Does anyone have any input on these, or maybe another brand to consider? I know another user posted some info on the Steinheil products, and I am considering trying the Ultra Crystal.
Try out ghost armor. I have it on my phone and it has a better feel than those invisible shields. You can barely tell its there.

I added it to the line up. Does it have the orange peel texture/look like the invisibleSHIELD?
Steinheil. You'll never buy anything else again.

ghostarmor is too much you can find the same thing on ebay for $5 bucks shipped.
the zagg covers get sticky if your hands are a little sweaty.. but they are prectically indestructible... I found it so much of a hassle that I took it off and went with the plain plastic ones that vzw sells even though I have to change them every few months
I ordered some of the steinheil ones, but I am going to buy the verizon ones until they get here. I can see which ones I like better.
You can add Boxwave to that list. I prefer them to any of the others I've tried on my Inc (liked the BW Crystals better than the Steinhills).
Crystal (I prefer these over any others)
ClearTouch Anti-Glare
The ghost armor, I have not seen any orange peel on it.
And the ghost armor is the same price as the invisi shield.

How about this
$4 bucks for invisible shield type

+1 for Boxwave. Their antiglare is the best I've tried and I've tried Verizon's brand, Steinheil, and Seidio. It does pixelate the the screen a bit but it's far more transparent than the others and it feels terrific.
Just bought a ultra crystal (steinheil) on ebay, interestingly enough its cheaper then direct from them (13.99 + free shipping vs 13.99 + $2.40 shipping)
You can get free shipping through the sgpstore ebay store.
Previously, I've sworn by the Invisshield, but as mentioned, I'm not a fan of the texture on it. I've placed an order for the steinheil, and I'll let you all know once that and my phone show up
my friend gave me a 3-pack of verizon branded screen protectors with my tbolt purchase, he said consider it free on my employee discount or something
anyway, he put one on for me and it feels like there's not even a screen protector on it but i can still see it, no idea on how protective it really is tho...
My favorite is this "Remove before use" brand I'm currently using
I ordered a $1.14 "cheapo-tek" from amazon and will report back with my mediocre results early next week
I assume it's just the same bulk material most of these use.

Do you know the difference between the Ultra Fine and Ultra Clear?
I wonder if anyone has tried the Ultra Oleophobic?

SGP labels all of them "Ultra":
Ultra Crystal - Clarity
Ultra Fine - Fingerprint reduction
Ultra Oleophobic - Oil resistant
Their marketing doesn't matter much to me, I've just had really good experience with them in the past.
Here is my experience on the whole deal. In the past I tested all kinds of covers full body, really good ones, and cheap. With my last incredible i decided to try none. I even dug into the screen with scissors and a fork just to test. Nothing no scratches. Also not like one of those lite scratch tests on youtube. I used some force. Now I'm not saying go test it just that the new glass they use is quite durable. Over the year that I used the phone i never got any scratches. My advice would be to save the money get a cheap regular screen protector if you have to or none at all. If you are really accident proned get an otterbox. Just don't waste all the time and money i did researching and trying all the screen protectors.

Best Screen Protector?

Hello everyone,
I was just wondering what the best screen protector is for the TB? I've heard much about Steinheil, but was wondering if there's any other recommendations people have. Is Steinheil worth the price?

Steinheil all the way,if you order it off there ebay store, free shipping.
I like realook. They're like $10.99 shipped off amazon. I get mine a couple days. I've had them on all my devices. Smooth as glass.
You are just opening a can of worms here. Until there is a accurate study of all Screen Protectors from various categories, there is no such thing s BEST. But there are certainly plenty of crappy ones.
I did not use a screen protector for my Eris, but I decided to purchase Steinheil after many praises from the net. But there are plenty of options that are "BEST".
i honestly like the crappy ones i got from amazon, 3-pack for under $2 shipped

I use the Zagg screen protector
I used Zagg screen protectors on my old moto droid, good product, not really fun to install, lifetime warranty, price around $20 shipped.
I've used both Seidio and Steinheil now, and i can safely say my favorite is the Steinheil Ultra Fine Antifingerprint screen protector.
Varelse (or anyone),
Are the Steinheils the "dry application" type? I'd rather that than messing around with liquids and solutions...
Yes, the Steinheil is a dry application.
Here is a video on an install.

+1 for ghost armor. Great feel, not tacky. Plus a lifetime warranty, even if you change devices. Just bring in the old one and they will switch to the new device. Just pay for the $5 install. I just did that with my HD2 to my Tbolt. Can't beat that.

take it where, I would love to have this?, does this include if I have to go through 300 TBs?
I don't get why Seidio charges 5.90 to ship the 2 pack out, how much does an envelope and a stamp cost?? crooks, I'll check out Steinhall & ebay free shipping like previous poster said
I prefer the seidio protectors for my devices
I love the Ghost Armor ones. They offer a full coverage for both the regular battery and the extended. With the modifications were having to do to the cases for them to fit, it helps.
SGP are probably the clearest and most glass feeling. I have a full Phantom skinz right now but if the screen part comes off I'll get a sgp.
OK, one more question:
do the Steinheils cover the bottom section keys (home, menu, back, search, buttons)?
Are there any matte type screen protectors out there for the Tbolt yet? I got the invisi shield by zagg and I love it but I would love a matte screen protector.

Should I go for SPIGEN screen protector and case together?

Hi,
My White 16 GB galaxy note was delivered on this Tuesday only.
I have done extensive search on internet for screen protector and flip case.
I zeroed in on SPIGEN SGP GLAS t. Premium Tempered Glass Series Screen Protector AND SPIGEN SGP GT-N7000 / AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4G LTE Leather Case Valentinus [Middle Brown], Diary Wallet Type
Both priced on high side.
I am in a dilemma that should I go for flip case and screen protector both or will flip case alone will suffice?
How's the quality of these 2 products of SPIGEN?
Thanks for the info.
You obviously did NOT try searching this topic. If you had searched, you would have found at least two threads with extensive reviews and discussion regarding the GLAS.t.
Try again and this time, use SEARCH!

I have gone through the threads on this forum, but i didn't find a thread which discuss about having screen protector and flip case together.
My point here is should I spent 40 $ extra on screen protector if I am buying flip case?
Thanks
Any ways I ordered from Amazon for both the protector and case to be on safe side.
The case will have credit card and etc and they could cause scratches.
Not that this will matter for the OP but I think you should have a screen protector and a case. The Galaxy Note (and any other phone glass including devices with the somewhat overrated Corning Gorilla Glass) can get scratched by anything harder than the glass. This can include a grain of sand between your finger and the glass.
Get a screen protector. They are anywhere from $30 to less than $1. If the day comes that you scratch your screen, you'll probably wish you could pay $30 to have it new again, so spare yourself even the chance and use a screen protector. Amazon has a 5pk for less than $2 shipped to your door.

I use the Glas.t and SPIGEN flip case - they work beautifully together and i dould highly recommend them
(i did an extensive review of a few SPIGEN products on this forum )
howdy
folk get far too obsessed with screen protectors.. a flip case will annoy you after a week
I had the official flip and changed it to a £3.49 TPU gel case that came with a free screen protector and the phone is in A1 condition after 3 months
but you pays your money you takes your choice
I can't speak for the flip case, but SPIGEN make very high quality stuff. Money well spent!

Tech Armor Screen Protector

Just got my GS3 a week ago and I love everything about it so far. However, I'm starting to think I'll need a screen protector for it. Just for convenience I searched on Amazon and came across Tech Armor's screen protector. It has good reviews but other than the reviews on Amazon haven't been able to find more information about it.
Has anyone tried this sp out yet to get some insight from? Doing research on others but interested in learning more about Tech Armor products.
I literally just applied one. It went on fine. Just FYI - it does not cover the entire screen. It's edges are trimmed to the home button and top cameras and span a millimeter or so past the screen to either side. I'd definitely use it again especially as the 3-pack is under $10 shipped.
i was looking at those too... i was initially impressed with the reviews but then realized this was the only product those people ever reviewed.
Maybe i'm just jaded but 6 5 star reviews by people who've never reviewed anything else seems a little fishy to me.
Great to hear! Have you heard of the SGP curved crystal that's going to be coming out soon? Wondering if I should wait for that or try this one out.

I ended up ordering both the anti-glare and the clear, but i don't have the sgs3 yet. Has anyone else tried the techarmor? I might just return them if I did get screwed by the 10 amazon reviews....
I have the HD clear one from tech amor and it works great....doesnt affect screen quality at all and easy to apply, comes with three screens and a lifetife warranty so you cant go wrong!

Ok, well I guess I'm only out the $14 if they are terrible. I will post my discoveries once I get my SGS3.
it's good
I purchased the Tech Armor anti-glare and anti-fingerprint screen protector from Amazon for ~$10. It was really easy to apply and it does the job. My only gripe is that it degrades the screen quality by a little, but it was worth the $10.
I have this and it's a good screen protector. You get three which is good but some of my corners are starting to peel a little.

What's the point of screen protectors with Gorilla Glass? I mean the screen won't scratch, it will shatter, which a protector won't stop. So, what's the point?

It's still glass and it still is most certainly prone to scratches, scuffs, nicks, dings, and dents. Honestly, I can sleep more sound at night knowing I have just one more layer of protection on my $600+ device.
For the record, my girlfriend purchased these screen protectors for her S3 and she is extremely disappointed with how much the protector cuts down on vibrant colors and light from the screen.
I bought these anti-glare/anti-finger print ones that come in a 3 pack for about $10. I think they are ok as far as fit and stickability goes, but imo they make the beautiful screen turn into a fuzzy rainbow blurry piece of crap. I am returning mine and buying something else. I've only seen one other phone that had a screen protector looking this bad.

I have the clear. It's good. Like other clear screen protectors oil, smudges, and fingerprints will show up.
FYI, for anyone interested, I wrote this review on Amazon. I'm not usually one to write reviews, but I felt I had to because of how it makes the screen look.

Hello, this is Tech Armor. At the time this post was written we had just launched product on Amazon for the Samsung Galaxy SIII. We are currently the #1 brand on Amazon for protecting the Samsung Galaxy SIII thanks to your support. We do our best to provide stellar customer service paired with a quality product. We offer a lifetime product replacement warranty on every product we sell, and we stand behind it. If any forum members want to review our products, please contact us and we can send out evaluation samples.
The Samsung Galaxy series including the Galaxy Notes ( I use a Note II) have curved screens with a beveled edge, which makes applying a stiff screen protector a challenge, but we have developed a solution with a thinner, more pliable material. We also leave a 2.5mm clearance gap around the beveled edge to prevent peeling. If you really clean the screen well and center your screen protector in the installation, it will stay on for a long time and protect your phone from daily wear and tear and the abrasions we encounter as part of our daily lives.
We offer the protectors in two finishes, the High Definition Clear and the Antiglare/Antifingerprint (Matte) Finish.
The Matte Finish product has 3 main benefits:
Reduces Glare
Reduces Fingerprints and Smudges
Has a soft feel/touch (Often preferred by gamers and power users)
However, you do sacrifice some clarity for these features and it is not for everyone. If a user buys this product and does not like it, we offer to exchange it for the High Definition clear model.
Please visit our website for more information.
All the best,
Tech Armor Support

Cr3amy,
I noticed your post, and albeit quite late, I wanted to respond to you as I just discovered the Xda site. I hope you monitor it so we can assist you.
We are sorry you are unhappy with the Matte finish of the anti-glare/anti-fingerprint screen protectors. All Tech Armor Screen Protectors use the highest quality Japanese PET Film available and we use 100% Bubble Free adhesives.
The Matte Finish product has 3 main benefits:
Reduces Glare
Reduces Fingerprints and Smudges
Has a soft feel/touch (Often preferred by gamers and power users)
However, you do sacrifice some clarity for these features and it is not for everyone. The last thing we want is an unhappy customer, so we will gladly send you a replacement pack of 3 High Definition Clear screen protectors at no cost to you.
Simply email us at customerservice with your order number and we will ship them out to you via USPS First class immediately.
We offer a Lifetime Replacement warranty on all of our products and we stand behind it. We will take care of your issue to your satisfaction and if not will gladly refund your full purchase price.
Please visit our website and read the pro tips and watch the installation video to get the most out of your screen protector investment.
We won’t rest until we can make you a satisfied customer, just give us the chance!
All the best,
Tech Armor Support Team
I think all anti-fingerprint screen protectors reduce the display quality. I believe the matte finish that reduces fingerprints is slightly raised throughout and the lack of a smooth finish is what reduces the fingerprints but at the same time reduces the screen quality. I used Steinheil anti-fingerprint screen protectors on my Captivate and I was more than willing to compromise the screen quality for the lack of fingerprints. I couldn't find them for my S3 so I ordered the Tech Armor ones which will arrive this coming week. I don't watch videos/play games so I'm no doubt not as critical of the screen quality as someone that does.
Unless you're one to constantly clean your screen IMO the fingerprints reduce the screen quality way more than the anti-fingerprint protectors. My Captivate rarely needed the screen cleaned (virtually zero fingerprints) and I'm hoping the same is true for the Tech Armor protectors. When I'm in the field using an Excel spreadsheet with a client I don't want to have to constantly clean the screen so they can clearly see it. I'll settle for little/no fingerprints and the ability to see the screen albeit at a reduced quality every time.
Based on this review. I grabbed one ff these kits from amazon and installed today. Very pleased with the product and installation was a breeze.
Wouldn't know about those. Had one of those cheapo 3x for $1 off ebay and have nothing really bad to say about them. Also got them replaced later by the one that came with my UAG urban armor case and i find it slightly better, specially when applying. Just not sure if it's worth the difference.
Anyway, it's good to see that tech armor has great customer support that will even bother to reply here in xda. That's something most companies overlook and i'll easily pay extra for.
I've made a review on the iPhone 5 Tech Armor HD screen protector and I wanted to share my experience here. I've only used ZAGG and Ghost Armor before I've tried this and I must say that I prefer Tech Armor much more over those 2 brands. The feel of the screen protector is much better and when I give my phone to other people to use, they don't even notice the screen protector is there. So the quality of the screen protector is there.
On top of that, I noticed some imperfections on the screen protector, it seemed that there were some small scratches on the protector itself and it started to peel a little. I informed Tech Armor of my problem and they sent me 3 more for free. So customer service is also there when it comes to Tech Armor.
I've never purchased Clarivue or SGP before so I can't comment on the clarity/feel versus those two brands, but if anyone has input on that, I'd be interested to hear what it is. I found this thread by searching Tech Armor and there doesn't seem to be many forum posts on this company and I'm currently in the market to see what screen is the best for my Nexus 4 (I know this is the S3 thread).

Can someone please recommend a wet SP

I'm after a wet screen protector because I want the non slip rubbery grip feel can't find any in the UK
Thanks

These aren't in the UK, but they are so cheap that international shipping still makes them affordable:

I would highly recommend Skinomi. I have it on my Nexus 4 since last year and honestly its ability to self heal to a certain extent after scratches is remarkable. I have never used a screen protector for this long without replacement. Well worth the money.
Ghost armor is great! buy it for like 20$ and just replace for 5$ no bubbles cause the pros do it themselves well they think theyre pros
Carphone warehouse are stocking the zagg invisible shield for our nexus 5. I saw it today in a store
My absolute recommendation would be Skinomi. They are great and come in excellent packaging if you care about such things. Customer support is excellent. If you mess one up they will send you a new one at no charge. (Happened to me twice and I got replacements no questions asked).
However, on my N5 I am using Xtremeguard (see the link in first reply to OP) that I purchased through the same link and got pretty deep discount. First installation was not so ideal with bubbles and stuff. Second attempt was near perfect ... see the photos of my phone from another thread . First photo shows the phone with Xtremeguard protector.
