What is an insecure kernel?

Hi, I've been searching to try an find out what is an insecure kernel and what it does to a rooted phone and the positives and negatives of having one against a normal kernel.
Any information would be appreciated.

Insecure Kernal is 1 that is not signed by Samsung used to sometimes inject root and CWM recovery

Everything I find is for the International version I believe. Do they even have a T-mobile version?
