If you're living in Tokyo and want to play around with the phone, they have 2 of them on display at the Docomo Smartphone Lounge near Yurakucho Station.
The nice lady there said they didn't have confirmed release date yet. She thought maybe the end of November.
Do you know if there will be any differences between the japanese version and the european/american one?
As I live in Japan it will be easier for me to get it here. But always japanese handsets have problems, with additional hardware or some small difference.
I just want an unlocked device to cook my roms...
no idea. I've always got my phones overseas in the past. The ones in the docomo lounge had no docomo logo, so I'm guessing they were engineering demo models. I guess we ll have to wait for the release models and check the versions listed there to compare with the overseas ones.
I went in a Docomo shop on Sunday and the one they had seemed to be pretty standard to me. What do you think?
So I was thinking of getting the at&t htc one x but as you all may know it has its own set of issues. I'm on at&t but wouldnt mind getting the international htc one x version and not using lte as I'm not even in coverage areas anyways if you guys really recommend it. I like that the International hox has more space.
Also, not really interested in the galaxy s3 but the only thing that may have sparked interest is the sony xperia ion which is suppose to be coming to at&t in june. I believe it has lesser specs than the int. hox?
Either way, what do you guys recommend. Skip the at&t hox and go for the int. hox? I definitely like to root and rom, thats all I did on the htc inspire.

If you like to root and ROM, international One X it is....no questions asked. Simple and straightforward answer is to get Int'l One X.
Since ur also not in LTE areas, you can't turn off the LTE on AT&T One X from what I remember reading, so you'll drain battery just by having it on and get LTE like stats, instead of the 3G only stats which are nearly double the life.
Get International One X, Xperia Ion isn't good. An actual Sony flagship contendor is in the works though with the Snapdragon S4 Pro chip.
I see your in nyc, any dependable vendor you can recommend that has been shipping the int. hox with little to no defects? I only know expansys-usa but never ordered from them.

Order from Expansys, or Negri so just incase your model does have a defect, you can get replacement.
The Chinese models (ones manufactured in China) seem to have much less problems than the taiwan models.
Basically SH serial number seems to be better than HT for the most part. Mines an SH and all is well except for a slight flicker on light grey colors (software problem 95% sure but not noticeable) Other SH models have been problem free from what I hear. I have no flex or hardware issues

I personally chose the Galaxy S3 ( preordered yesterday) but I walked into an AT&T store today and saw and held the one x for the first time. I've never seen a phone or anything like this. The design is just too good, even the glamour grey, just an amazing looking phone. As far as you getting the intl' or the AT&T version, well since you like to root I guess get the intl' version. But the AT&T version is just much better right now. Excellent battery life and none of that lag crap.

correction, it is the other way around
I'd be stuck on 16gb(really like 10gb approx.) internal space, no root or way to unlock bl. Less dev support probably because of this. Seems neither hox is issue free though. Way more convenient to walk into an at&t store.

no...im pretty sure the chinese models have been better.
Most of the problems are with models starting with HT which are taiwan. SH are china and have been better

I don't agree with that. I ordered from Expansys and the unit was made in China and I had a yellow spot on my screen.
Decided to buy locally (2nd phone carrier branded HTC One X) and this is made from Taiwan and have no issues at all.
Chinese handsets are the ones that have problems.
I ended selling my 1st One X on eBay for $400 and was not really happy about the return policy with Expansys.
The Xperia Z subforum is very active, but this one looks like a ghost town to date.
Anybody thinking of the ZL instead of the Z?
Camera button, IR blaster, smaller frame...
Mater of tastes and choices.
I'm totally getting both
I'm waiting for its US release. If it takes too long, I'll get a Canadian one off ebay provided it's AT&T LTE compatible. If that doesn't happen as well by the end of March or mid-April, I'll simply get an HTC. I already started missing the bigger screen on my HOX that I traded for a TL. So hurry up - Sony.
Ok lol! This is weird how come I can't see this forum on the index page? Same for me I'm planning to get the Xperia ZL. But if HTC One will beat it with the availability on my country then off to HTC One for me.
Me!
I don't need the water/dust proof, getting rid of those flaps would be a good thing for me
I am getting it, more compact plus camera button plus IR, it's going to be my next.
I am looking at getting the ZL as well rather the than the Z but will wait to have a look at the Samsung Galaxy S4 first.
I am getting either ZL, HTC one or S4. Want the AT&T LTE Not a big fan of samsung but their CPU always better and their OS update...
I'm looking to grab ZL and start cooking my own ROMs/kernels once for a change ( I think I'm the only programmer with a diploma that hasn't been an active developer on XDA :| ), but apparently availability is going to be crap, so I might have to get a Z instead :\
GG Sony !

Expect it mid March.
Can't wait to get it here in India; I heard it will be available here in April.
On a sidenote, why is this section not showing up when searching from the forum homepage?!
I can't find this forum on the device search, can the moderator fix this?
I definately will get it as soon as it's available in Canada.
I am hearing talk that the ZL here will launch with s600 instead of s4 Pro. Anyone want to comment?

Source? Pretty sure that both the Z and the ZL will have the S4 Pro.

Rumor comes from esato forums. Also another source on neogaf suggests the Z will launch in North America with S600 as well. This could explain why we're getting so little info on these phones, and why the North American launch is coming2 months after most other markets.

That's the case for the US. The Z launch being later is for other reasons.
Sent from my Sony Xperia™ Z
xperia ZL hasn't been released in Europe either, is it North America exclusive only?
I think I'll get a ZL when it will be available in Switzerland. I hope it will be soon.
If what I've researched is true, Sprint's 4G LTE (A GSM tech) runs on the 1900 MHz band... If this is indeed true I might use some of my tax refund money to get this baby and save my upgrade for another time. I'm weighing my options. I'm also considering the Galaxy Note II, but I'll see.
Well, apparently androidcentral is reporting that the ZL, will have LTE bands working on ATT and T-mobile. If this is true, that would be so awesome! I cannot wait!

Are there different versions for the Z1 compact for different parts of the world?
If yes does anybody know those regions (e.g. asia, america, western europe, eastern europe) and what are the countries in that region?
I'm building a list here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722908

Z1 f is a Japan Version. Most spare parts are compatible with Z1 compact.
And the Z1 compact is the Global Version.
All Z1 compact spare parts are the same in all regions.
The difference is the carrier you choice.

Ok, but that's for the hardware.
I come from a HTC one and this phone had different versions, not all of them had the same 4G bands and so on.
The HTC also has versions specific for Sprint and verizon.
Depending on the CID you were able to install some rom versions and other ones not.
I bought my xperia z1c in the Netherlands but if I look at the documentation included it is not from The Netherlands but from one of the countries in Eastern Europe, I still don't know yet which one, I think I have to grab some words of the doc and put them in the translate.google to know which country.
I just want to make sure I will not encounter any problems if I would install a custom rom.
Up to now the phone is not yet in use because I'm waiting for the screenprotector, coming from China, still not arrived (it is a full body protector) and the ones you can order in the USA are too expensive due to the transport costs.
Been doing research for the past few weeks and ever since hearing about the Sony Xperia line, my heart's been racing. The more and more I learn about it, the more I think this may be the one for me.
I'm very interested in the Dual SIM variant of the Z5 Premium, and I may be nitpicking here, but when I try to find info about the release date for it (particularly the E6883 model), every site just mentions the date for the Single SIM model (E6853). Judging from previous dual SIM Xperias like the Z3+ and the Z3, it seems single and dual SIMs are released on the same day, but can anyone confirm that for me?
Also, does anyone happen to know where I can pre-order one, with shipping to the US? I checked Clove, but I could only find pre-orders for the single SIM model. Thank you!
I'm in the same boat. Waiting for them to release it & see how much it would cost. Hopefully they won't release it in 16GB though!
Yeah, on one hand it'd be great if US carriers would carry it because that might make it more likely to see in Best Buy or Amazon, but on the other hand, I still want it to be Carrier-Free. I'm keeping my eye on Clove and keeping my fingers crossed though. Like I said in the first post, previous Dual SIMs were released on the same day, so I'm hopeful!
I'm waiting too. Hope the price will be the same as the single sim (like Z5 in HK)
