Today my phone started to not charge while I had it plugged in and using it at the same time. A few weeks ago I also was getting a notification that said "use the charger the phone came with because this one isn't giving enough power" or some message like that when I always use the original htc charger. My phone is actually losing battery while I have it plugged in now. This is annoying! I'm unrooted and stock.
This message is popping up Btw.

Have you tried a factory reset? If that doesn't work, I bet firewater combined with a Rom and kernel would...our developers kick ass.

Most times I have had this it was charger and/or cable related. I have had an HTC cable that does this and also bad cables. The problem is you are stuck in USB charge mode instead of ac. First method of troubleshooting is another charger and cable.

Ok well, I used a different charger but I think it's a weak one because it took forever to charge and the battery seems to be draining rather quickly.. I used to get almost 5 hours on screen time. About 20 perfect drain every hour. I just unplugged it 30 mins ago and it's already down to 85 percent and I've barely used it. Wtf?

Usually I can go a full 16 hour work day without needing an extra charge, then last week it started not holding the charge so well. In fact Tuesday it had 30% and I left the house for half an hour, and when I came back the phone had shut off and was at 0. I hadn't even touched it. I am on a mix of Wi-Fi and LTE. Anyway, that was odd. Now look at the battery usage...

Do you have a screenshot of the stats when the battery went all out of whack?

My android system has been going crazy the last week or so, usually would be at 5% our do but lately has been 40+ easy... been to lazy to wipe and re flash as I'm sure that will fix the issue, but lately I've been near power all the time so it hasn't really bothered me.

I flashed with Highonandroid and got 30+ hours. Probably could have gotten double if I didn't kill half of it installing all my apps back on.
What rom are you using?
On the stock image I was only getting 9 hours.

if you are not using a phone, turn it off and the battery will hold charge for many, many days.
So about two weeks ago, I switched to iPhone because I'm giving my S3 to my dad. I haven't used it since then so I fully expected the battery to die. However, when I went to charge it today the LED at the top left isn't lighting on and I get this

Whenever I try to plug in the battery while it's connected with the USB, the red LED pops up for 3 seconds and then it goes away.
Any ideas guys? Please help me.

I did see it. But we don't have the same problem.
My phone won't even get to the boot sequence and I know it's not a brick of any kind because the phone was working fine before I switched the iP5. I left the phone in the glove compartment of my car for a week or so, is it possible that could have messed with it? The phone was inside of the box and everything so I can't imagine it got too hot.
Well did you try the suggestions there? Keeping the battery out for a while and then putting it in and trying to boot?

Yeah I did but still no dice.
couple of things
Try a different battery
Try a different charger
Sometimes extreme heat and cold (from a glove compartment) can ruin a battery or the phone itself. Extreme temps are hell on phones. It's probably a good idea to remove the batterty and keep it inside if phone is being stored. Also, some chargers to go bad...had it happen. Anyway, you might have tried these things already. Good luck!:good:
Hey guys. So my Optimus G has gone through three different chargers now. The LG one that comes with the phone, a Samsung one, and a rocketfish one. The LG one being the first I used. I know it's not the outlet cause I charge my nexus 7 on the same one.
The LG and rocketfish chargers broke when I tried to charge my phone from being completely drained. The Samsung one just kinda stopped working. All three of them maintain a flat line charge if Im not using my phone. But once I start using my phone, it continues to drain even though it's plugged in.
You can see what I mean at the end of the graph. Its was plugged in for 45 mins.
Have any of you had this problem or have seen it? And any idea what's going on?

I've had this problem as well. Just went through the LG charger so I switched to an old blackberry one I had kicking around. It's been working so far, maybe 4 months or so. It's also nice because it has a substantially longer cord than the standard usb cable out of the box.
Hi Guys,
Got a problem here. This will be my 2nd Note2 after sending it back to Samsung couple of months ago. It was charging this morning and tonight after a long day of work, I decided to play some game on it. Noticed that the battery is on 15% I decided to charge it. After 30mins I checked the status of the battery and to my amaze it was not charging! I tried 3 different cables, 2 different chargers, and none of them works. Tried my cables and chargers to a different phones and it does work. I connected my note 2 to my laptop, and it does not recognized it. Tried to charge it while it is turned off, I can see a battery icon, but it does not show the charging battery icon. It will disappear in a few seconds. Please see image below:

It's a rooted phone. Tried to clean the charging port. I even opened it without damaging the warranty sticker, and I can definitely say that there's no moist inside. But just to be sure, I blow it using a hair dryer with the temp off. But with no luck. I used to experienced this a few weeks ago where went back charging after a few minutes. But this time it's worst, it's been an hour and a half and still it is not charging. I can't do a full wipe yet since the battery got 9% left on it.
I know that if it will really not charge, to resolve it..it's either I send it back again to Samsung, replace the board myself (hope it works), or buy an external battery charger. Unless there's more that I can do to fix it.

I did but to my amazed after leaving it alone the whole night, It went back charging again. Yes I am glad that it's working again but I am worried it might happen again sooner or later. I have read some threads with the same issue and with the same outcome, I really want to know what's behind this.
So if its under warranty unroot and monitor

Phone can not be charging when off
Hello all,
The problem is i can not charged my phone when the phone is switched off. When i inserted the power cable it will automatically switch on the phone then it will charging normally. I am on Phoenix ROM V18.8. Your kind feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.
I got the OTA update for my Galaxy Tab S 10.5 to Android 6.0.1. Ever since installing it I've been having USB issues from not charging and not being detected in Windows 10. Whenever I plug an USB cable it shows the battery icon with a red X, no matter what cable or charger I use. It also does this in Windows. I installed the Samsung drivers and neither Odin or Kies can detect it. Device Manger doesn't show any unknown device or the tablet. The only way I can charge it now is to turn it off and leave it overnight. This gets maybe 6-8% charge. I've also tried factory reset, but same issue. Is this tablet pretty much done for now?
In the Developer Options menu, tick 'USB Debugging'
If you have not been able to charge to 100% even though you have tried a number of cables and chargers then it looks like you battery has gone bad.
A battery can just die just by going to low, it might have been weak and this was the straw that broke it`s back, I found my T800 battery dead the other week it would not turn on, a bad app had drained it overnight, luckily i charged to 100% and it seems to be fine.
You can get replacement battery`s on eBay for like $10 and tool kits for like $4 and there are lots of youtube video`s on how to replace the battery it looks easy.
I already have my replacement battery and tool kit ready for when my battery goes bad as they all do eventually and i love my 10.5" too much for a dead battery to stop me using it for long.
Here`s my Kit, I have posted this photo a few times.

John.
Have you tried a completely different computer? I have had issues frequently in the past with this device but a different computer always recognized it.
On another note, that red X is normal.
http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/skp/faq/1064881
I tried the methods above minus opening it. I left it plugged into my PC for half a week and came back to it. Randomly decided to start working as if none of this ever happened. When I turned it back on it was still stuck at 34%, but it now showed a charging icon instead of a red X. I've been using it on all different chargers so far and no issues.
