Hello!
I recently updated to 4.3 and rooted the device using Odin, however the default camera app is no longer responding - it gives me the following error message: "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped working".
Things I've done to try and fix it:
1- cleaned cache and data but that didn't solve the problem.
2- also reset the device to factory through settings but it didn't work either
3- re-install camera.apk (wouldn't install using Titanium)
4- install new stock camera from 4.3 rom (installed but got the same message)
5- manually replaced the files for the camera (system/app/SamsungCamera.apk and SamsungCamera.odex) AND Gallery (SecGallery2013.apk and SecGallery2013.apk) with new ones
Issue still persists...
Any ideas? Pls help.
Thanks!
if you're using xpose mod and wanam update to the latest wanam.

Thanks but it didn't work.
I got it solved today thou in an unexpected way by actually using the Back up feature within ROM Manager - the phone went into back up mode (like recovery mode where you see the little android robot and command lines), waited until the back up process was finished then rebooted without choosing the option to "fix possible root loss" warning. After that camera was finally back again.
Then I recalled that the last time I've done this back up through Rom Manager there was some sort of problem during the process which interrupted it so I realize now that somehow it affected the camera (have no idea how they relate thou) - but the fact is that as soon as it successfully finished the back up the issue was automatically fixed. Weird, stupid and very rare, I know... At least is fixed!

Not to thread jack, but do you have the apk for the stock camera app from 4.3? Thanks in advance
I've had exactly this same problem. Do I have to run a backup to fix it?

Hi there. I have an issue with my SE Arc LT15i camera.
The issue is that upon opening the camera app, the screen goes black and then i get a message after about 1-2 seconds saying:
Sorry!
The application Camera (process com.sonyericsson.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Force close
Force close is the only option given.
I've searched through xda and through google, and from what i understand, its not a device specific problem and there is no universal solution. I have:
- Cleared the camera cache
- Changed SD cards
- Completed a settings reset
- Completed a factory data reset
- Used SE PCC to 'Repair' the device
All of which have been unsuccessful. I am running stock SE 4.0.2.A.0.42 (2.3.4), with locked bootloader and it is also unrooted.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?
Have you tried to reflash the firmware?
i'm a bit of a noob, but is reflashing the same as connecting to the PCC and restoring stock firmware? i've never changed the rom or anything, just the SE updates

Try repair function in PCC.
yup tried the repair function. contacted SE and they told me to use SEUS and update/repair the firmware. still no luck however. =/
do you guys think it might be a hardware problem then? I have gone into the service menu and testing the camera there causes the service menu to crash
I have the exact same problem with my LT18i. The problem has been intermittent, coming and going, but now it seems it is here to stay. I have tried doing a factory reset, switched SD-cards, cleared camera app data/cache, removed camera module to check for bad connections. Nothing has worked.
Searching the net gives no solution that works, but lots of thread with people having the same problem.
Has anyone found an actual solution or has any good info on the problem?
(please, no half-assed guessing - I've read tons of it already and I've tried it all... :angel
I updated my Xperia S to JB with PCC.
I thought it would be a smooth experience, but all hell broke loose after the update finished.
1. Walkman does not work. It crashes all the time and always gives me the error "Unfortunately, WALKMAN has stopped working"
2. The album app cannot detect any of my photos stored in my device. Same goes for Ringtone picker. I have tried clearing Media Storage (It always worked for me in ICS) but it simply refuses to rebuild the Media Storage.
3. I cannot connect it to my PC at all. PCC keeps reporting an error and any of their proposed solutions do not work. When I try taking a screenshot, it says "Unable to capture screenshot, internal storage may be in use". Did the update screw up my internal storage?
I am now trying to flash it back to .55 FW. After first successful flash, it is stuck in a bootloop, crashing on the XPERIA logo. So now I am trying to reflash it again. However, I keep getting weird stuff like "Flash Aborted" or "Flash Cancelled" by Flashtool for no reason.
What should I do?

Before you hard brick your phone. Read this carefully.
You probably updated your phone to JB without resetting data/factory reset that is why you're facing force closes, lags etc. Now you should download SUS as you have effed up your phone, from here. Then follow the on-screen instructions CAREFULLY and you'll get your phone back, working with no lag/force closes whatsoever.

I find it odd that Sony didn't mention anything about resetting phone when updating via PCC.
Thanks for your help though. I managed to get it to stop bootlooping and flashed a ftf to completely wipe everything - there goes all my messages.......
Now I'm able to at least boot into .55. Should I update to JB now since it's on a totally clean slate and hopefully prevent any other unexpected stuff from happening?

Well, i'm downloading jelly bean now due to its high antutu score, which basically means more performance. When i updated from Sony Update Service, it asked me if i wanted to just update, or wanted to update with a clean install.

I see. So SUS is a more reliable option I guess.
On another note, managed to update to JB and issues are resolved. Only sad part is a ton of my past apps have about 8gb of SD data on my SD card but they aren't installed -.-"
Time to manually reinstall them.....

Cheers then, if your problem is solved.
I update my phone via Sony update service and now my Google Play Store doesn't work any longer.
I did factory reset, flashed back to ICS and it is same thing, and all google apps like say that it can't reach server.
Did restore phone couple of times but no luck.
Any suggestions?

Possible Solution : CLEAN RE-FLASH
The New Update downloads and optimizes a few apps at start up from phone.
You will find new small apps google updates for 4.1.2 and also new chrome browser.
If you are facing the problem.
Reason is 4.1.2 Google Apps might not be compatible with ICS and vice verse.
What you can do now.
Reset Your Phone.
Check if the phone shows "Optimizing Apps" After Flashing from SONY Official Software..
If not! Flash Again With A Clean Whip.
If You are on rooted and unlocked phone and with recovery : Flash Gapps compatible with your device.
I hope this information helps you.
Reply back if there is a progress.

Just found out that my router had DNS settings that change location for Netflix, and my phone was freaked out.
Now router is on default settings and everything works.
Not sure why XS was fine with it when it was on ICS.
Thanks for reply.
Best part of update is when connected to my car stereo via BT, songs information shows!!!!
I just could guess that even my SE MW600 might work with songs ID, will check later when come back from school.
I have a known camera issue in which I cannot solve.
My camera does not work. Any app that tries to get to the camera fails.
I know that is not an hardware issue because on stock ROM the camera works.

NOTES ַ& UPDATES
- I updated my firmware to NE4 so I cant install CM11
- I noticed that on CWM recovery its asks to ROOT my phone if I dont have one. This ROOT makes to phone to not detect the camera even on stock ROM.
- I used S3Rx_UCUFNE4_AROMA_11-9-14 to install the stock ROM. The camera wont work until I removed the KNOX app.
- I have tried to install ROM cm-10.2.1-d2att_for_NE4 and its the same problem
- Installing different kernels make my phone stuck on bootloop.
- The camera worked for one time only on CM10 after enabling " temp unroot" and than remove it in superuser app. But after this its not working.
Here is that things that I have tried:
- I checked to camera with no SD card so that gallery is empty.
- I updated my firmware from UCUFNE4 to UCUFNE4.
- I have installed different camera apps.

IDEAS
I think that the problem is with the kernel or something with the ROOT.
Any room expect the stock one have broken camera.
I WILL GIVE BIG DONATION TO THE ONE WHO WILL SOLVE THIS ISSUE
There is a corrupt image or video file in your gallery that is preventing the camera from connecting. Look in your gallery for any recent files that just show a black square for their thumbnail and then delete them.
After that, clear data for your camera app and maybe even restart your phone just to be safe. It should work.

I tried various of the recommended fixes , nothing worked for me, but installing the nexus camera from the google play somehow fixed the problem and my camera works again
I've got a Redmi 1s with stock ROM. (v36.0) 4.3 JLS36C with root. Everything was working fine and I was taking some pictures. All of a sudden Camera shortcut got deleted from the Launcher. I checked the presence of Camera.apk and .odex file at /system/app and is still present there. Tried the following steps, but could not get the Camera launcher back online.
Details:
Rooted stock (version 36.0) CWM installed
Steps tried so far:
Cleared Cache
Cleared Dalvik Cache
Checked the permissions and ownership of the camera.apk.
Tried copying the camera.apk to the sdcard folder and tried installing. It prompted with a warning that the installed app will replace a system app, and on clicking install, the installation failed with an error message "installation failed"
Nothing worked.
Links2SD is installed and none of the apps are frozen.
Tried activity launcher to see if there any camera activity that can be launched, but again in vain.
Please help to get the camera back. I really like the MIUI Camera app. (For the time being, I'm using Camera ICS, Instagram and Fast Burst camera to capture some of the moments with my little one! )
Thanks in advance!
Solved it.
The app was listed in the apps, went and uninstalled all the updates, restored the factory version of the app, cleared the data and cache and voila! the app appeared on screen! Thanks for reading and the suggestions! :good:
back up ur data and hard reset ur phone and see.
if that does'nt work...reflash the latest miui rom for ur region....i should work thereafter .

I just bumped my lollipop rom and install xposed then I noticed that my phone shows out "android is upgrading" on every reboot. Is there any way to fix this as it is a little annoying...:crying:
Sorry for my broken English
+1 !
afaik its just a side effect of using the alpha build of xposed. sure, it can get annoying, but having xposed and this 'issue' is better than, well you know.

This activity tends to get lengthier after every reboot. I've found that once it "seems" to loop in the "Android is upgrading" screen, to remove the battery, boot into recovery, wipe the Dalvik cache, and reboot. It will go through the lengthy procedure of updating software, but will boot a WHOLE lot faster after that.
There is a fix to that. I have the same problem that started after installing xposed on my s4 lollipop. I was able to get rid of the "androidis upgrading". the one that shows you how many apps are being installed. Now, it goes straight to "starting apps". This is not a complete fix though, since it should boot straight up but at least, it's a lot faster now. Use lucky patcher then use the option "remove all odex". That fixed the issue for me. Though not 100% fixed.

I tried this method but it didn't work, and there are still 3 apps that are being "optimized" on every boot. Is there any way to find out which apps these are?

Try to change the version of Xposed installer and see if that fixes the problem. By the way, the problem is 100% fixed now on my phone. I used lucky patcher to remove all odex files. I also installed another version of Xposed. The latest one did not work well so used an older version.

Which Xposed version did you use? I'm on v68 right now which is the latest. I had v67 and it did the same thing.
V66. I tried2 later versions but this one worked for me.
I have a Oneplus One but I have the same issue. Every damn boot. Android is starting. optimizing app 1 of 121.
I also have the latest version of xposed.
I know not the forum for the OPO but just thought I'd let you guys know other phones face it too and hopefully find a solution to this.
I had to make a really important call and my phone restarted all on its own. That's bad enough but add to the random restart sitting for 5 minutes to wait for android to finish optimizing

Trying this now...my G3 crashes for whatever reason from time to time after my Tasker that disables bluetooth as soon as the USB power is disconnected from the car.
Currently on version 79. Patched it with Lucky Pater and removed all odex; rebooted (got stuck but battery out & booted normally).
I'll report if there are any further issues
Okay it's very odd it seems like there's an issue with my LG G3 disconnecting bluetooth from the stock head unit in '13 WRX. If I try pushing the power button off on the radio then shut off the engine (Tasker shuts down bluetooth) then I don't seem to have this issue with the phone crashing. I've yet to have the phone crash if it's on A/C power and Tasker performs the same function.
