For reasons of my own (I promise it won't screw the general public over...) I want to change the serial number. Any way of doing this?

I need your help urgently. I would like to remove the SIM-lock from my P3300 and I need the IMEI number to buy an unlock code. I do not know this IMEI number because the PDA is second hand and has no box or any docs. I have read that you can recall it by entering #06#. The problem is, with or without SIM card in the PDA I can only access emergency numbers and cannot enter the for example the # character. The software keyboard shown on the screen has only the numbers and few letters. Who can help?
Erm, sticky label under the battery?
or
start -> settings -> system -> device information -> identity
it's not #06# but *#06#
Just an observation/question.
When I go back to stock or stock type ROMS, my serial number is R21C63K****
When I go to CM9 or CM10 my serial number is 7f1f****
Used '*' for paranoia purposes. lol
When I type *#06# on my keypad, it displays an / 02 after the IMEI number. Does anyone know what that means? My ROM is rooted using CF-autoroot. I used triangle away and my phone shows that no custom rom has been installed.
That extra number is called IMEISV (IMEI Software Version). Apparently its a software version number (has nothing to do with firmware). Dont worry about that as almost every phone nowadays has that extra number. I checked my brother's Iphone IMEI and it had 09 as last 2 numbers.
after updating to android 4.3 my device says: (not registered on network).
the IMEI is correct but my the serial number is different than the S\N on the device box
is changing the S\N cause this problem????? any help please
I just loaded a custom ROM on the nexus 7 2013. In the fast boot screen there is information pertaining to the device such as
product name, Variant, Bootloader Ver, etc. There is a serial number also listed. The device is wifi only. I am curious if the serial number would have any merit in locating the device in the event it were lost or stolen and someone were to log into their Google account, create a new Google account, and access the internet. Would there be a way or a service that could find out the ip of the people who stole/found this device via the serial number? Or what is a recommended way of protecting the device and relocating it?
