Since the my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 does not have phone, and I cannot find a default Text Messanger, I am looking for suggestions on what Text Messenger app to install.
I need to be able to send text messages [SMS and MMS] to my family's phones and tablets.
It would be good to be able to share with my wife's Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014.
Recommendations?

Have you had any luck with this? I have a Nexus 10 and would hate to replace it with a Samsung Note 10, but I really want palm detection for taking notes during meetings.
Free note, note everything is a free app in the play store. It has it available in the settings. You can also export your notes in. Pdf

Is there any app or way to send video thru SMS.

I am little confused.
You mean MMS than your default SMS app can send short video. (Provided your carrier supoorts MMS)
When composing, tap the attach button, then capture video. It will only capture 20 seconds.
I use "send it". It sends a link to your various cloud drive. You can send huge videos and other files that way

I have both an S4 and Note 2. The note 2 doesn't display the Google voice mrage icon from the call log like the S4 does . This is supposed to be a standard feature of Google Voice. Anyone using GV that can help.?

Could it be due to the fact that the Note 2 is on 4.1.2 and the S4 is on 4.2.2? TouchWiz 4.2.2 has some minor visual differences from 4.1.2.
Google voice with call lodging message should work with 4.0

I think the subject says it all.
For example, if I tether my Nexus 7 wifi to my Galaxy S3 to get cellular data, is there an app that I can then text from my Nexus to send texts over the cellular network?
Think I have found what I am looking for with Mighty Text from the Play store.
Many people have been using that, though if you use google voice paired with your phone number, you can send texts via wifi. Though voice doesn't support mms.
Mighty text works great. It even shows the battery level of the phone.

@DrakeSlayer: its just for SMS texting...If you want something that can control whatsapp, look on apps like airdroid.

Hi guys,
I have the wifi only version of N7 and I use it a lot while at home. The only problem is that I have to keep reaching back to my phone to reply to SMS or whatsapp. Do you guys know of some app through which I can link my phone so that I can send messages through my tablet itself and not have to reach to the phone? Something like Airdroid maybe? Or Snappea? I can still use these apps through the browser but can you guys suggest some better way or app?

There's DeskSMS and TabletSMS.
You need to have DeskSMS working on your phone, then TabletSMS will work. You can also install a browser extension so you can reply to SMS via computer as well. DeskSMS costs money, not sure how much exactly, as it's been awhile since I bought it.
Hangouts would be an easier "fix"

Thanks guys. Google Voice isn't available in India yet. I'll try TabletSMS.
So the sms issue is solved. Can we access WhatsApp somehow on a wifi only tab? You guys know of a way?

Tablet talk is what you need. It sends SMS and notifications to your tab. You can reply back and stuff. I haven't used it but I heard it works great.
