[Q] Oppo N1 CyanogenMod 10.2 Rooting issues. - Oppo N1

Hey guys, so I finally decided to switch from the great ColorOS to CyanogenMod as I'd heard there was CM11 nightlies available. So I used the normal flashing method and I'm now running CM10.2 which is great. Only issue is I don't have root access. I've tried installing OppoOwn apk but to no avail. I read that root is already included in CM0.2 and you simply need to enable it in the developer options however I have no root management settings in there. Any ideas why? Other phones seem to. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

You need to flash supersu to get root.

Thanks for getting back to me pal. I have tried flashing it only issue is I've only got stock recovery and I can't flash twrp without root. Flashing SuperSU with stock doesn't work. Stuck in a loop :/

You don't need root to flash recovery using fastboot

Why the heck are you trying to root your device to flash recovery?
It's the other way around, you flash custom recovery using fastboot in order to root your device.

With stock recovery you won't be able to flash SuperSU.
However you should be installing TWRP before rooting anyway. Reboot your phone and hold volume+ on reboot. This will put you into Fastboot. Connect to your computer and follow the instructions listed on the TWRP website HERE.
After rebooting into TWRP, then you can flash SuperSU.

Im thinkin about trading my Rooted Verizon Galaxy Note 3 for a Oppo N1. Does the N1 work on Verizon network?

No. As long as you stay on Verizon, you're going to be stuck with crippled devices.
I strongly suggest something like Straight Talk's BYOD SIM plans. The N1 will work with SIMs for both T-Mobile and AT&T and all of their MVNOs (the AT&T SIMs from Straight Talk are your best bet.)

Help Verizon Galaxy Nexus came with build IMM76Q(Wanting Root)

Ok guys i just got the Galaxy Nexus and im wanting to root it. But it came with the IMM76Q build. Everything im finding is for IMM76K. Is there a way to root it or am i stuck with a non rooted phone for now. It is the verizon one, any help would be nice
You have a galaxy nexus you are not stuck without root. However I am not sure about the tool box programs and your newer version. I believe you should still be able to use adb to unlock your boot loader and you should still be able to go into your recovery and flash a custom ROM with root or just flash the super user zip and that will give you root. Here is the super user zip if you need it. http://db.tt/GzpXFmUz
I used this zip to root my phone before. If you are not sure how to use adb or send commands manually you tube has some great videos to help.
In the toolkit you simply choose option 14 the one ending in "k". Its the same as the Q version with just a search bogus feature. Read the last page on that thread and the author tells you to use K. I just did it on two phones. Works perfect!

I had the same build on my last refurbished (aka like new) verizon phone that was sent out to me. I ran into problems using tool kit. It would hang in a bootloop after pushing SU installed with the tool kit. I basically downloaded the IMM76K factory image from Google Nexus page. Wiped the phone and did it the old fashion way via terminal or in windows cmd .
adb reboot bootloader
placed the latest SU in main folder of phone (aka root folder)
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery--and your version of clockwork
press the volume to recovery and press the power button
flashed zip..choose zip
reboot the phone
opened Rom Manager
flashed latest version of ClockworkMod for my phone.
But that's more than 3 steps.

I'm gonna throw my ? In here since I'm totally unfamiliar with Samsung and nexus devices.
I bought my mom a gnex (sprint variant) for mothers day. I rooted it using fastboot and adb and put TWRP on it. My ? is, do I need to restore factory recovery for her (somehow ?) to accept this OTA she says sprint is trying to push? Its only 26mb, dunno what it is.
It's hard to find info in the nexus forums, just the way it's setup, and I say that as a 3yr xda addict.

the wugfresh toolkit works if you want to root it. I was able to root mine successfully with the toolkit, but the replacement phone is garbage. Keeps dropping signal.
i have a slightly different issue, but it's related - so, i didn't want to start another thread...
i got a replacement device from Asurion, and it came with IMM76Q. i unlocked and rooted, but the device, itself, had some issues. so, i am returning it and getting another replacement device. i've asked them to send me a new one, so we'll see...
anyway, before returning it, i wanted to lock, unroot, and go back to stock. but, i haven't seen anything that would let me return it back to stock IMM76Q - only stock IMM76K. i'm wondering if there is a way to get it back to stock IMM76Q, in case Asurion wants to give me a rash of crap for returning to them a device that is locked, unrooted, but only on IMM76K...??

[Q] screwed up with Samsung SCH-S960L

Im new to all this so I rooted my Samsung SCH-S960L with a friend and i guess we did something wrong along the way.
The root worked fine, I then wanted to place a rom on it so we used rom manager and got CyanogenMod as it looked like the most popular and safest one. The problem is that it now says my phone is metro pc and the model number is SCH-R530M and I dont have a google play store (could not get it to download). I Just want to figure out how to get it back to normal and its hard to find many forms for sch-S960l or SCH-R530M
If you downloaded a CM rom you also need to flash gapps package. The google apps are not allowed to be used with those types of rom, or built into them because google apps are proprietary and cm is not licensed to use them in the rom. So you have to find and download the appropriate gapps package then you will have play store and other essential google apps.
Somewhat ambitious to jump right to that instead of playing with some TW roms first.

It seems like you flashed a CM built for a different device. Not all SGS3's are the same!!
Another possibility is that you need to update your APNs. There is a flashable universal APN fix for Boost S3 (I'm on Boost), so it couldn't hurt to check around and see if there is one for your carrier.

i personally don't know if it will work/harm on JB since when i used it my S3 had already been updated to KK and SuperSU will help regulate what apps have root access by giving you a prompt when a app asks for root access and SuperSU also updates your "Root/SU Binary" so it's on the latest one and Busy Box will also ask SuperSU for root access and will install Busybox 1.22.1 which allows you to use some other root apps like Viper4Andriod

After installing TWRP on my TMo Note 2, I flashed PA 3.99 + GApps and it seems like everything is working fine. I have data and phone connectivity!
Since Paranoid Android was not working with CWM, does that mean that there might be certain ROMs that will not work with TWRP?

I've not heard of any problems with TWRP (that does not mean they don't exist), also the issue with CWM only seemed to appear after a certain update (can't recall the number). Older version work without issue.
So I guess I spoke a little too soon. I was able to get data and cell connectivity, but it only lasted a couple hours and then disconnected. Any idea what is happening?

I think I may have screwed up pretty majorly,
I rooted and installed cwm as usual and tried flashing updates but that didn't work
Then I decided that I would install a custom ROM on it which I wasn't going to, so now I'm stuck as I wiped data and tried flashing both pa and slim but both failed, I assume this is because of an older version of cwm which was used because it was needed to flash the updates.
So now I am stuck without an os and when I boot it just goes through the Google logo twice then goes to cwm.
What is suggested for these situations aha? Thanks

Thanks but I found a really good method on XDA because I believe it was soft bricked. I used Odin to flash stock 4.2.2 and that got rid of root and custom recovery. Once that was done I then updated to 4.3 in the settings via ota

AT&T Note 3 ROMS on Tmobile version?

Hello,
I have an unlocked Tmobile Note 3 (running on AT&T network) and I would like to know if I could install roms from AT&T version on it? If so, do I need to do anything special for it?
I was just about to post the same question. I am still trying to search for a way to get ISIS working and at the same time not tripping Knox. I think this method may be it. I read some folks on the AT&T forum (AT&T Note 3 running on T-Mobile network) got ISIS working by flashing a T-Mobile based ROM.

Yes the AT&T Roms will work fine. You just need to follow these steps.
1. Backup
2. Wipe
3. Install AT&T ROM
4. Install T-MO n900t TW kernel of choice
5. Install n900t NFC/WIFI fix zip (this is necessary for international ROMs to work so I assume you need it for ATT also. I did it and it works fine for me) FOUND HERE

Yes the AT&T Roms will work fine. You just need to follow these steps.
1. Backup
2. Wipe
3. Install AT&T ROM
4. Install T-MO n900t TW kernel of choice
5. Install n900t GPS/WIFI fix zip (this is necessary for international ROMs to work so I assume you need it for ATT also. I did it and it works fine for me)

Honestly, KNOXRAID was the best one...but that got shut down due to some drama. Not sure if the download files are still available but that's what I was running. I've heard good things about the BOBCATROM port too, but that was uploaded by the same guy so I dont know if the links are there still. I think you can try any of those safely. You have to be careful on the international ROMs though because if you don't download the right ones for your phone it will wipe your internal memory (PITA).
I also edited my first post to include a link for the NFC / WIFI fix.
Thanks you for the help. I just installed the Tmobile version of the Hyperdrive rom and will give it few days before I try the AT&T ones.

I downloaded FireNote V6x from the AT&T forum and it looks like it has messed up my phone. After doing the wipes when I tried flashing it via recovery it failed and now my phone does not see the internal SD or external. I'm stuck in recovery :crying:

Did you try putting it in download mode and use Odin to flash stock firmware?

Ya, it took me couple of hours to get everything back up but then I installed Wicked ROM and not its back to square on. I'm stuck in boot loop. :crying:. Will probably have to start all over again from stock.
