problems after replacing charging port - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

so my incredible was having bad battery issues, i have to move the cable a certain way to charge, and it would only be on for 2 minutes before turning off. so i replace the charging port.
now for some reason, the orange light charge the phone but it wont turn on, atleast theres no display, or sound. when i go to turn it on i feel vibration and all the capacitive buttons light up.
now i was real careful when putting it back together, i didnt even disconnect more than what i had to. does anyone think its a loose connection, or is the pohne finally dead?

i heard the ones for the screen and digi are tricky to reconnect, so i didnt bother messing with them since i didnt touch them when opening the phone.
i got it fixed, im thinking the little orange stickers kept on dislodging the connected, so i was careful in a way to put the sticker back on without messing with latch. so display works now
thanks chilly

i wouldnt worry about it. every once in a while if my phone is on standby it goes up by 1%. also why does yours say 2s on time?
It connects and disconnects. It just started yesterday....
My screen will turn off and on sometimes like I'm connecting it to my charger.
See the green charge bar and top right battery shows its plugged in.

More and more people are seeing this kind of problems. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21840063#post21840063
It's a faulty USB connector on the phone, you should have it serviced, or change it yourself.
I bought this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150713366355 and it fixed it.

Oh no, same problems with my phone. How difficult is it to change it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Not that hard. It's the easiest board to change on the phone. Look at some disassembly videos on youtube.
I did get bad GSM reception after changing the board though, but I just used a scissor to cut out the antenna part of the old board and used that instead. Could be that the board was a CDMA one. Anyway, now the phone is good as new!

[Q] Am i screwed or what

hey guys yestrerday my phone took a path for the worst
i was mad at something and so i banged my phone against the table *anger issues. Now the phone turns on but its all black screen and sometimes partially gray and partially black. I can hear the volume when i press it and the phone vibrates and rings for calls but i cant see nothing its all dark.
i assume its not a software problem...rather hardware. Did i break the screen or disconnect a ribbon from the board to the screen
i have a G2 obviously with ics
more than likely one of those options. may be hard to diagnose it until you open it up.
even then it may not be obvious if its the screen or flex cable, but im guessing its one of them.
good luck!
I opened it and found out that all the plugs/ribbons are connected.
I think the ribbon cable can have wires that are severed inside, despite the shielding still being intact.
Can it be possible that the screen is broken becuase only the screen is black i can play music because i remember where i put the widget.....so can it be the screen because i dont think its a ribbon
Both the lcd and ribbion can have the same effect. I can't tell you which one is bad on your end, but I can say that with all my years fixing slider phones it almost never is the lcd

So what ur saying is its not the screen
Can it still be the screen although i took it out and it dosent look broken, take a look:
Not saying it isn't the screen I'm just saying that it more than likley is the flex cable, harder to replace and about 35 usd vrs 20 for an lcd. Take your pick but if it were me id go flex cable

[Q] Can't turn GNex on anymore

I'm on 4.2.1 with the Paranoid Android Rom (version 3.0).
Today while writing to a friend in WhatsApp suddenly the screen went black.
Now I'm not able to turn it on anymore. It doesn't work with and without connected charger.
What are my options to try before sending it in?
Is my warranty void due to the fact that I've got PA installed and the device rooted?

Where you plug your charger there is a small tab take a tooth pick, small knife , or something like that I used a small flathead from my phone kit and push the tab up about in the middle towards the led light (front of phone) no more than middle ways and that will give your phone a charge you most likely had a false charge like I did and other people from what u have heard

Please pull the battery before starting to bend! Put it back in and see if you can get anything. Maybe try a key combo to boot, like volume up+down+power.

Really a weird issue :(

Hi friends, from last week am facing a display issue in my desire z mobile. The display changes the colors when ever i unmask the KB or sometimes even when it masked... when i googled for this problem i came to know that the ribbon cable is loose. so i decided to open the mobile and reconnect the cable. I did everything perfectly, but when i repaired and turned on the mobile , the screen is black.. only after rebooting (by hearing the welcome tone) my menu keys start lighting and by pressing the power key my screen turns on. Even i cant see the boot loader page ..
I think this could be a software issue, but i dont know how operating with the hardware can mess up the software
Friends please guide me
Something is up with the ribbon cable either it came loose again when u were putting back together or its broken.
I actually fixed mine today, it was wearing through the black outer part and was making the screen jump during scrolling and long pressing when only tapping.
I fixed it with a small piece of electrical tape placed over the exposed part. I guess it grounds out once it becomes exposed.
U only have to remove the mother board from the phone to really see most of it.
What exactly did u do? Is there an exposed part of the ribbon from wear and tear?

there is no physical damage in the ribbon, even i saw the whole connection of the ribbon... no physical damage.
But now, after reconnecting the parts i got another problem to... i cant see any boot animation and boot screen... when i start the mobile it remains black screen and only after hearing the boot tone, again by pressin the power button the screen turns on.. till that the screen is black.. dont know what to do .
U should get a q tip with some rubbing alcohol and clean up the connection and blow on the connection to make sure there is nothing there. Just take our time when u do it u don't wanna mess anything up

sorry i cant get your way of cleaning the connectors. could you please elaborate me the cleaning process? Then bro, still i dont know why i was not able to see the bootloader screen and the bootup animation... but after booting up mobile works fine... so confused
Sorry use a cotton swap dipped in the alcohol to clean the connector on the cable and mother board.
Does the phone have a custom recovery? If so what happens when u boot into it?

no it doesnt have any custom recovery. first i come across the screen colour fault, so i rerooted my phone to claim warranty, but unfortunatly i was not able to claim the warranty. so i felt to open the mobile myself and tight the ribbon. After attempting this repair now new problem araised ie i cant even see the bootloader page and boot animation.. but the phone is working fine..
whenever i turn on the mobile the black screen remains , then i will here boot tone then my soft key lights will lighten, then i will press power butto, then my lock screen will pop up. this is my situation.
Dont know what to do
First let me try your cleaning option, but could you advice me something other than the alcohol ?
Alcohol is the best cuz its sterilizes and dries fast. U don't need to soak it just to get the cotton swab wet and shake off excess and dab it on the connections. If u rub it might get cotton stuck. U could also use a keyboard dust blaster or some kind of compressed air to blast away any particles.
The main thing is to make sure u connectors are down all the way and not to have any tension while putting it back together.
If u separate both halves of the phone make sure u connect to the back of the motherboard after u have tightened down the brackets that keep the two pieces together.
Are u trying to avoid having to remove the sticker while loosening the motherboard?

Now the problem getting worse.. after a cleanup with a cotton bud, my touch sensitive fails to work.
:crying:
now the problems are :
* touch not working
* display colours are changed
* cant see the bootloader and boot animation
Please someone help me :crying:
dont know what to do. Its just a 3 month mobile, cant lose it
Ur doing something wrong all ur problems has to do with the cable. That cable connects the screen to the motherboard

I think the proper response is replace the flex cable, they do go bad and for the most part I'm sure you didn't do anything wrong. Technology fails from time to time, about 20$ or so and relatively easy to replace
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
yes i think i have to replace the cable, but now i think i damaged the digitizer too..so i have to change both the ribbon cable and digitizer.
but i dont know why i cant see the bootloader and the boot animation.
thats my main problem now..
as i want to root my mobile again i need the bootloader page, guys please help me on this
then anyone having a desire z for sales?? (2nd hand sales ?)
I would probably just replace the ribbon cable before doing anything else digitizer is tied into the ribbon cable as well.

recently i've installed on my HTC Desire Z CM10.1 but there is some i think unknown issue:
when i'm taking picture with HDR option selected
- first picture is taken well
- but in the next try, i've got informaction HDR processing and suddenly cam application is exiting, when i check in my album folder i've got 3 different pictures(with different expose time) and one whole gray(maybe this one should appear when HDR combine those 3 picture into one but it never happens, it works fine only at first try)

I too had the same issue.. I think the HDR option is not working in that ROM, so you better turn off the HDR.
I apologize for my english, i'm french..
I've the same problem. After a 1 meter-fall, it fell to the ground flat. Since, it doesn't work.
When i press the power button, the phone seems to start : vibration, and the sensitives touchs light. But i can't see anything on the screen, it stay black...
Do you think it can be the LCD screen to repair or the ribon cable ? If it was the ribbon cable, the sensitves touchs didn't turn on, don't you think ?
Thanks for your help, and again i'm sorry for my basic english..!

We cant guess it without testing. In my case i first faced problems regarding ribbon cable and slowly the prob builds up and now my screen is full back. But in your case it is most likely to be the lcd part.
So, better you make a test about it by swapping it into another phone or so..
then one more thing, even if the ribbon cable fails some part of it may work like sensitive light and touch..
I had the same problem. Just get the cable replaced.

Xperia M Screen (Possibly) Broken

Hi,
I 'dropped' my phone hard on a table and now the screen doesn't show anything. I can hear the phone clicks so that works. I've tried turning it on and off etc. but no luck.
Might it be loose wire or other part?
Thanks
If the screen remains fully black when you attempt to switch it on then its likely to be a loose wire. If there is a backlight then it could be either a loose wire or a damaged LCD screen.

There is a backlight indeed. I wonder how much I can take apart myself to find out. I can't see any obvious dents or cracks etc. on the screen or casing etc. so maybe something is loose?

There is nothing wrong with the software. The OP dropped the phone onto a table, that would have caused a hardware problem.

There is no point in trying it because it is a hardware issue. The OP can hear the clicks it makes when it unlocks and they try to hear it, meaning that it boots fine and there is a working kernel. Its a hardware issue, possibly caused by the ribbon cable to the screen coming loose.

No I'm not, I'm attempting for a job as a technician though as I know how to diagnose faults and what faults are hardware and software.
I don't know everything and I'm far from perfect, I'll admit that. But with what I do know, I know it well.
Now I'm gonna leave it here cause there is no point carrying it on.

Nope, I can't see the Sony/Xperia logo.
Yeah I wondered would a cable be loose. Is it easy to take this phone apart? If not I might try claim the warranty. There is no physical damage at all.

I haven't disassembled the phone myself (I have had no need for it), however I have just watched a YouTube video and it seemed to be easy enough to disassemble and reassemble. If you look it up yourself and judge whether you wish to try yourself or not. If you have warranty from the store you bought your phone at it will more than likely cover accidental drop damage so if you don't wish to risk your phone then that would be your best option in all fairness.
Try the service manuals...
OK I opened it up and I couldn't see what the problem was. Nothing appears damanged, as expected. There are three main ribbon cables, none of them appeared loose. However, when disconnecting the mainboard from the phone case, the middle cable, which lights the LCD screen, has become fully detatched. It seems that unlike the other two cables, it connects via adhesive. I don't have thermal adhesive. When the phone turns on, now there is no backlight in addition to nothing being visible on the screen. PC Companion picks up the phone so all of that seems to be working. But no LCD and now no backlight. Unfortunately, there is evidence of me opening the phone. I doubt the warranty would be accepted now...?
In the reassembly video in document 1277-1354_Rev1 , it shows the three connectors just snapping/connecting....no glue situation.
If there is anything else I can do via home repair, what could I do? I can't be that far off, surely?
even if you don't open it, you can't file a warranty on SONY Service Centre if the damage is LCD, just buy a new LCD and replace it
Would that be the case even if I bought it locked on a network? How would they know it's the LCD if I don't say? Once before, with another smartphone, instead of listing everything I understood to the manufacturer, I told them almost nothing and got a full replacement.
