Guys is there a xposed module or will there be one to
use volume down key as back and long press to kill
volume up key as home and long press to recents..
and expanded desktop option to disable the nav bar
this will save the space nedded for nav bars...
also volume isnt a function which we use very often...we can as well have a quick launcg tile for it
GravityBox can do the second thing you want.
Yes, I use Gravity box to hide the navbar and use its Pie for my buttons.

There's an module that does just that its called "Xposed Additions"
Doesn't even need reboots and you can even assign a different behavior to ur keys acording to screen on / off status
For example
Use volume keys to change volume when screen off

Nice idea! After hiding the navbar, I quickly realized how much I could use something like this! I'll have to try this out when I get a chance.
Only downside I see is that since we're changing the key layout file, even when the navbar is shown, the volume buttons would still act as home/back. Would be nice for the ROM chefs to have some sort of 'live toggle' so that it would switch to home/back when the navbar is hidden, and then back to default (actual volume) when the navbar is shown.
Cheers and thanks m8!
Op, pm sent.
That's a nice idea but how do you change the volume? You will have to install some kind widget.
Also this increase wear on your buttons, that's how I killed my previous phone.
there's a toggle in AOKP to hide and bring back the toggles, although this would be more convenient it seems like it would be a hassle to change those buttons whenever you needed your volume back
Thanks for the idea just FYI on 4.0.2 GSM the layout file is:
ROOT - SYSTEM - USR - KEYLAYOUT - Generic.kl but it worked just the same. It was item 114 and 115.
Working great so far. Also I put a volume widget on my home screen so that takes care of that.
There's a flashable zip for this on rootz, been using it for several days. I just long press my ringer toggle for volume adjustment.
what i wanna see is this:
tap the power button to show/hide nav bar
double tap to lock screen
hold down to power off
boom.

My bad .dup post
or you could just shrink the nav bar down to 30dp!
still works well and its almost like its not there!
Pretty cool. Thanks. Works like a charm.
Even long presses on the volume replicates the same behaviour as I configured on the Nova launcher :
- Long press on the Home (vol up) key: shows recents apps
- Long press on the Back (vol down) key: kills app

Doesn't seem to do anything on AOKP 27. The default says WAKE and when I change it and then reboot the volume buttons still handles the volume.
how?

I think people here are misunderstand the statement. "I just long press my ringer toggle for volume adjustment." He used the built in toggles(slient or vibrate) in the rom to get the the volume screen and make volume adjustments. The long press of the physical volume key is not adjusting the volume once the mod is made.

+1 I agree with this idea
Hello friends!
I got my LG G Pad Yesterday
Is there a way to remove the Front Touch Buttons? I couldn't see any options in Settings! Is it possible after rooting?
I plan to use only gestures for the front key button functions... May be we can use the screen real estate more effectively if we get rid of the buttons?
Any thoughts / suggestions?
I just installed an app called GMD Auto Hide from the Play Store. It provides an auto-hide feature for the touch buttons. It seems to work well, except that it overrides the setting on the phone that lets you change the button order. I want to set up the soft touch buttons so that the "back" key is on the right to match my Samsung phone. It appears that the GMD app doesn't have a setting for that. Too bad.
Does anybody know a way to get auto-hide and also customize the button positions?

Thanks for the quick reply.
With GMD auto hide, does the display get extended to the button area or the area just becomes blank?
I am thinking of using GMD gesture launcher to to replace the buttons...

It gets extended. I haven't used it very much yet, but it looks like it does the job, if you don't mind the button order.
Ok, I played with the app some more. When it replaces the soft touch keys, it puts a red line at the bottom. I did get it to put the back button on the right side, but another issue is that it puts a "recent apps" button where the menu button usually goes, then it puts a different menu button on the right edge. I wish it would l wish it had more options to set it up the way I want to.

GMD Gesture is fantastic. It hide autobar (your tab need to be rooted) and replace virtual button by gesture that you can define by yourself. Moreover, the developper is very reactive..

Thanks. GMD does the job quite well. I overlooked the status bar on/off part in GMD?

Anyway to get the menu overflow button into all apps and disable menu key or make it multitask key? Xposed modules or Roms? I loathe the menu key. All of my other devices have software buttons so I'm always thrown off when going to my note. Thanks

xposed module: 3-dot menu mod do the job(add soft menu key). Install it, activate in xposed and restart.
PS. And Samsung did it again wrong, because the menus are ugly in all their apps (light grey icons on a white background).

Good stuff. This restored the 3 dot menu in Chrome after Google yanked it out in the last update.

Now to find a way to turn the menu button into a task switcher button and set long press home to google now
Youre right ... Listen to me get xposed modules install gravity box jellybean version... and use their pie controls.... make them appear on left side.... so use ur left thumb to acces home button and recent task on pie.... and your right thumb for the return button ... i know the feels... since that threw me off too ... this way you can comfortably navigate without sacrificing screen estate... .. trust me it rocks... contact me if you have more questions .. youre welcome

Long press home to Google Now can be done with Xposed. Both my phone and tablet work like that. I use Switchr for task switching with the activator in the bottom left and Button Savior Pro on the bottom right.
mine does that automatically. it also tried opening dolphin for some reason LoL
Hi,
Is there an xposed module, app (rooted or not) or any other trick to give me the option to turn on flashlight torch when I press and hold power button even when the screen is off,
PS , running Cm13
Many thanks!
There is a xposed module named "xposed torch" that worked on my z1c
But on the 1+3 it seems to be broken, it just softreboot itself everytime i try to switch on my flashlight with it.. so i sticked with the "V" gesture
Actually I want this on my O+X , does not seem to work, I have tried the following,
Gravitybox MM
Sense for xposed
Xposed torch
Play store apps (out of frustration)
Others
I don't know if such thing is possible with Tasker, so maybe some1 will help with that
Also, there was a Moto X feature called Chop Twice for flashlight , is there a way to make that possible on AOSP Roms?
Many thanks!
The ResurrectionRemix ROM supports that I think...

Be careful if your are on OOS when you try to use Xposed additions. There are some bugs,
1. Xposed additions will make feedback vibration of touch buttons unavailable;
2. Double click power button to open camera quickly is not available anymore;
3. Maybe there is little delay when you use 'volume-'+'power button' to make a screenshot.

true, but i use it for media controls and direct dial on triple click of power button for someone special as well.. so i prefer all these over the camera shortcut provided by OP.
im using custom slider xposed module to turn on and off flash light
Xposed Torch by Wanam does work at the beginning but after being in standby a while it doesn't launch the torch. from my perspective there isn't a sufficient solution that does fully work and does not break anything else.

Do you use xposed additions for Screen Off actions? I'm curious how reliable it is while the screen is off.....does it sometimes not trigger if you have had your screen off a while?
Have you tried Xposed Physical Button Music Control module? Serves almost identical purpose.....but I occasionally run into the issue I described. I'll Re-Map a Volume Up command (while screen off) to do some action.....sometimes it won't trigger if the screen has been off a while. Anyways, I'll be doing some extensive testing between these two (almost identical) modules and report back which I find more reliable/stable. I've used Xposed Physical Button Music Control for a LONG time and noticed the screen off actions are a bit flakey

xposed additions works for me perfectly all the time,be it screen off or screen on..
PBMC didnt work for me at all.. i tried it first for mapping music controls when screen is off but nothing went right...
i tried several modules but in the end xposed additions was the best of them all...
hit thanks if I've helped you
Here is my comparison so far for both Xposed Modules (Physical Button Music Control vs Xposed Additions)
Both apps have reliability issues with Screen Off triggers. To demonstrate, keep your screen off and don't touch your phone for quite a while (30+ minutes at a minimum). Now try to do a Screen Off trigger. It likely won't work. Now turn your screen on and off again. Try a Screen Off trigger immediately. It will work. So obviously, something is disabling/sleeping these apps after the phone goes idle for a while thus preventing these Screen Off triggers from working. I have no idea how to solve this. I've already added both apps to the Whitelist for Doze battery optimization. It is rather frustrating having this issue.
Both apps are NOT able to use the Home Button as a trigger while the screen is off
Xposed Additions CANNOT use the Home Key as a trigger....period. PBMC can.
Seems PBMC does not function on OOS....but it does work on CM based ROMs.
Both apps can play nicely together. So if you like specific things from both apps, you can use both.
Conclusion....they both perform pretty equally. I'll continue to investigate the reliability issues. There has GOT to be something we can do about this. I might write the xposed additions developer since he seems to be a OP3 user.
I use Gravitybox MM on OOS 3.2.7 and don't have any problems.

hey, i just wanted to remap my buttons with the gravitybox xposed module but that sadly didnt work. looks like some gravitybox options dont work with freedomOS or stock.
is there any other module you know that allows me to remap m buttons?
i want to open menu with single click on menu button and with long press opening the default app list.
and also i want to close apps with long pressing the back button.
any suggestions?
Edit: found a module that works myself. -> Xposed Additions
Try this
