[Q] Rooting the S3

No matter what i tried i can not get root on this phone i just got it about three days ago.
its a Tmobile Phone
it came with 4.1.1
Build UVDLJA
Ive tried root66 but no dice, i can not run any thing root, everything requiring root hangs in the loading screen and when i try to update the binary for superuser it fails in the acquiring root permissions section,
I never get the prompt to deny or allow.
this is is my 5th android phone and the first to present this issue to me.
Can anyone provide insight on why this is happening?
After you ODIN, did you see the super user icon? If not, you may not did it correctly or you chose the wrong TARZ file to ODIN.

Could be a bad download. I would re-download the root66 file and try again. Just to be sure, are you extracting the .tar file and flashing it in the PDA section in Odin?

Have you tired after you Odin root66 booting into recovery and wiping data and cache?

I had the same issue until I saw this video and it worked. Follow the link and it'll show u, for some reason this recovery file is the only one that worked.

SU Library Update Fails

Hi all,
Galaxy Nexus.. Running Android 4.3 Build-JWR66V, rooted, using SuperSU.
Few weeks ago I got an update which increments the build to JWRR6Y, which failed to install every time I tried.
Then I read that there are still a few problems with root on 4.3.
After the SuperSU was updated (which foxes the problem) i opened the app and it said that SU binary needs to be updated, I agreed to continue...
Chose "Normal" and waited around 8 minutes without any luck, restated tried again without any luck...
Chose the other method which restarted my phone into recovery mode, which ended with an error...
Can anyone please help me out with this issue, I've searched the internet getting nothing really worth the fox that I'm looking for...
Thanks.

[Q] help! rooting i747m not working

Hello! This is my first time posting to a forum like this, hopefully I'm doing it right!
I have just gotten an S3 i747m to play with and cant seem to get it to root successfully
I have tried several times with the guides online, the actual root process works great, but when I use root checker it hangs up. Also there is no root access for apps.
I have read the forums and have seen most people root the S3 very easy. Has anyone come across this problem or have a fix for it?
I had no issues running Odin 3.07, everything says that the root was a success, but when I check the phone I have no root access. My phone was at full charge, my sd card was removed, and followed everything to the letter. It's also not the first phone I've rooted.
Any help in this regard would be appreciated thanks!!
What method did you use to roo?

I used chainfires method I believe. Readily available, step by step diy . I plugged my phone into odin, everything connected well. I loaded the PDA and the install passed. Everything passed, but there is no root access. I've tried the process several times, also the timer isnt resetting..... I check off F. Reset Time but its not resetting lol I'm stumped.
Did cf auto root install the supersu app? If yes, you should go to the playstore and update the supersu app.

Try flashing this one instead. I never had an issue with it https://www.dropbox.com/s/94ju9y5pbba9qy1/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip
I believe the latest TRWP does offer to root the device for you.

Knox troubles during root

I have a note 2 sgh-I317 running 4.3 root went through but supersu (2.01) keeps getting blocked by knox and I have it turned off. Ive tried finding wqys around it but I havent been successful. If someone can please help Id really appreciate it. By the way I was using cf auto-root through odin to root the phone. Thanks in advance.

i had this when 4.3 first came out.
i cant remember how i got around it.
i think you have to revert so that when u load KNOX it says "INSTALL" so its not installed (even though its present).
then update Superuser to latest version after using CL_autoroot.
here is a thread i made about it a while back
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535015
I actually found a thread right before you posted this on here that stated something about ES file explorer so I downloaded that searched for superSU and clicked install even though it was already on the phone. And that allowed me to get into superSU then I used uninstaller pro and completely uninstalled Knox all together and made superSu into a system app. Been working flawlessly ever since. Then I installed triangle away and reset my flash counts and surprisingly they reset all the way to 0. I appreciate your response hopefully others that are having troubles with this see this and can root their galaxys without as much problems as I had.
