just picked up a new htc one but!!!! - Verizon HTC One (M7)

hey guys just picked up a new htc one and noticed it was on 4.2 than i updated to 4.3 ( dumb dumb dumb) came here to see about rooting/s off methods......noticed there was none... my question is does anyone know if rumrunner will be updated to work with the verizon htc one 4.3. also i saw the firewater method but only has the temp root method... well thanks guys for any input.....

Firewater works fine on 4.3. The temp root is just for using the exploit. Once the exploit is done you are bootloader unlocked and s-off. From there you flash a recovery, then superuser to get full root.

thanks dude. everything went smooth.................................

[Q] How to root after update?

Ok, i have installed the latest update for my HTC Desire HD. Which updated Android to 2.2.1, and also other things i have been told such as bootloader which has stopped the 1 click rooting from working.
My question is, is there anyway around this? Is there still a way to root my phone as i really would like to install a custom rom etc.
Thanks.
Reading just a bit around in similar threads should answer this for you
Oh, and it case it doesn't answer your question, I will: No, no root for stock 2.2.1 for now.
no root for you
should of read up before you run the update
Damn it. Do you guys think it will come in the future or...
Who knows. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

[Q] Root Desire HD OTA update gingerbread 2.3.3

hey guys.
did anybody know here how to make 2.3.3 ota update root, i have tried gingerbreak that doesnt working showing just black screen.
my phn is s-on, I do it coz it wont accepting OTA update.
is there any manual process to make it root via adb shell or something like that.?
i dont want to install custom roms i already checked so much of them but the are not fully bugs free and not fully google compatible as i want..
It is not possible. True, not all the ROMs work great, but some do. Try Android Revolution HD 5.1.6.
You have to downgrade first to get root, and then S-OFF if you want to flash custom ROMs.
You can also downgrade, root, get Radio S-OFF, unroot, get OTA again and use GingerBreak. Then you can have root in the latest HTC Gingerbread ROM.

OTA didn't came when radio is S-ON. thats y i did this..
Your phone is always S-ON when it is stock, so surely OTA will work then. And even when it is S-OFF, it does not matter if your /system partition is in stock condition (no root, no bloatware removed).
HTC have stopped Gingerbread OTA because of to many bug (To many have reported problem with SMS, WiFi a.l.). It will be released new version within few weeks when those thing is fixed. Ref HTC support
Thanks jkolko for the useful s-off & eng-off guides. Should anyone else find it an issue, note that if recovery cannot mount your sdcard, you should try another sdcard (found this elsewhere in the forums).
Hi, any app for downgrading? Honestly, not à "hero" when it comes to touching my phone, but would like root (at least to get rid of some stock apps).

To have root in 2.3 you need to use the downgrade guide to 1.32. Root and S-OFF and update to Gingerbread using 2.3 RUU. Then use Gingerbreak .apk to root. Now you have rooted S-OFFed Gingerbread 2.3

Updated to 2.3 from fully rooted 1.32 by RUU, installed AMT and now have su and full root Gingerbread AMT relay works, thanks to developer of script...
Hello Frendz,
The day before yesterday HTC sent an upgrade to the factory default OS (i.e. 2.2 froyo) on my DHD and I happily upgraded to 2.3 Gingerbread. Now, before updating I had permanent root access on my desire through Visionary but just after the update I realised I do not have root anymore. I would appreciate any comments and other experiences in this matter.
Also, during my own research I came across Gingerbreak which is probably the best around for rooting the 2.3 version but all I wanna ask is, if I still need to downgrade to gain root access or is it possible to directly use ginger break somehow? If I am not flashing another Rom, and all I want is Superuser rights.
As, I have never flashed any other find on to my DHD and I was using the stock interface since the start obviously with visionary root.
Also, whichever way I do it, I would loose all my contacts apps or we can avoid that. Can anybody please suggest any good (possibly free) backup app.
Tooo Long to read but any help and replies will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Anyone have any idea when Visionary or another One Click will work on a stock DHD running 2.3.3? I only want to root to get Set Cpu to improve my battery life.

Wow, that's a bold statement in tech lol
Any reason why this build will never be hacked when seemingly every other one is?
Not doubting yr word at all tho lol
Because it uses (as far as we know) pretty much flawless security measures that prevent us from doing much anything. Previously the devs found a way to go around the main security barrier after two months of trying, and now HTC blocked that security hole. As downgrading is possible, there are really not much interests to try and crack the new builds. Especially as it seems like a mission impossible.
....sigh.....
and since downgrading, gold cards etc etc is not my favorite, still waiting for a simple apk "for dummies", I guess I can forget to get to root mine.....
Those guides are really not so hard. Read them a couple of times, and if you still do not get it, ask your friend to do it. You can also join #AndroidRevolution IRC channel, somebody can hold your hand through the process. If I am logged in, make sure to send me a private message in IRC so I notice you.
thanks for the offer! will read again & probaply come back t you for help
Indian Desire HD
Apparently the Indian DHDs running 2.3.3 cannot be downgraded to root.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
You can install seraphic custom Rom if you like its just a stock Rom with stock kernel and root access. I love that Rom, closest to stock you can get on rooted DHDs IMO.
yes, it really sad that to say 2.37 OTA upgrade cannot be downgrade this time, I really want to downgrade or just root it :'(
nothing can do this time

[Q] How to root S-off HTC Wildfire S Marvel with 2.14.401.1?

Hello,
I have an HTC Wildfire S s-off and wanted to root him.
The story:
When I had problems with my memory, in March, I unlocked my bootloader and rooted it with HTC Supertool V3 and did it with Zergrush. When I did something wrong with an stupid no needed app of HTC, my phone freezed and I pulled out the battery. After that, it didn't startup anymore and stuck on white background with green letters HTC. So I brought it to a phoneshop and they fixed it for me, by installing a whole new firmware (for Wildfire s of course). When I looked into bootloader, I saw they made it s-off. I turned on my phone and checked for some updates. There was one update: the update for 2.14.401.1. I searched on google for how to root it but couldn't find something. Can someone help me, or do I have to wait for something?
Thanks in advance!

Root, Bootloader Unlock, S-OFF M7 Help?

Hi Everyone! I have a HTC One M7 with Verizon and am looking to unlock bootloader, S-OFF, as well as root mainly. I have tried Sunshine which tells me I have to root first. I have also tried, Kingroot, Moonshiner and most of all of the other programs.Upon looking up this I found I need to unlock my bootloader. To do this I need to S-OFF. I didn't catch HTCDEV in time to unlock the bootloader since Verizon blocked it so I would appreciate anyone who could help me root, unlock the bootloader and S-OFF. Thanks! I forgot to add, I am running HBOOT 1.6.1.

If you're on lollipop, pretty much only things I can think of that have worked are Kingroot (You have to try it MULTIPLE MULTIPLE TIMES) , N if that doesn't work on the latest version, try older versions (I remember old versions working for a few ppl, I believe it was like version 4.5 or 4.50.-something). The way kingroot works, u have to run it like sometimes 10-20-30 times of it saying failed, and eventually it works. I successfully did it on 2 of my friends m7's... (Not my own, I Sunshined back on 4.4.2)
Then, when/if u get kingroot to work, run sunshine...
Alright I'll keep trying kingroot

Any other ideas? Kingroot just keeps rebooting my phone. If not rebooting it fails regardless. Ran at least 40 times

Only other way for a vZw m7 is to find somebody who has a Java card, and make arrangements to ship / drive your phone to them, and they'll b able to S-off, bootloader unlock, & root it within 5 mins. Java cards from what I understand r VERY expensive, but over in the vzw M9 thread, there's a whole thread that's just/only for the topic of arranging to get your phone unlocked with a Java card owner, as Sunshine still to this day has never worked for the VZW variant of the M9. I know there are some VERY reputable and well known devs over there who would be willing to hook u up and have been doing it for others on xda for over a year now, (for quite cheap I understand) -although I highly recommend tossing em a donation at least for their troubles.... Maybe @dottat can point u in the right direction

Danngg.. I wonder if this is a result of Google's continuous security updates? When I ran Kingroot to temp root before running Sunshine, it rooted on like... the first or second try... this was also after I'd foolishly tried every single root exploit that were designed in the days of Android 1.x and Gingerbread, which might have weakened some security if it didn't break it completely.. The binaries are called psneuter and gingerbreak, if you wanna give it a shot. There's also Rumrush, Firewater, Towelroot... probably others that I can't think of. None of them are likely to give you root, but if you use all of them and then use Kingroot, maybe Kingroot will work. I would personally do that sooner than running Kingroot and having my phone reboot 300 times...
So, I guess all you can do is keep trying.
I have verizon htc one m7 and i want to root it i have tried
Kingoroot
Kinguser
Firewater
Rumrunner
Rootgenius
Etc
Android kitkat 4.4.3 htc6500lvw plz help

I can not help you with the s-off and unlocking bootloader but Ican tell you how to root your phone.
Install WeakSauce2.apk, and superuser in that order and you are done.

I did it as follows. I used KingRoot and obtained its form of root. Then I ran Sunshine, which requires that you first are rooted. Sunshine reboots mid-process, losing root. So I ran KingRoot again, obtaining root. Then I ran Sunshine and it took up where it had rebooted, and got s-off. Then I found a script to eliminate the KingRoot temporary root. It did not exactly fit my file system, so I by hand made all of the changes indicated in the script (some of the changes in the script were not really important, some referred to files I did not have, etc., but I was able to change the important ones.) When I rebooted, I got the SuperSu pop-up to update, which I did, and ended up with a Verizon M7 with unlocked bootloader, s-off, and rooted.

Here are two sites I had left in my bookmarks:
http://zidroid.com/how-to-get-ride-and-replace-kinguser-with-supersu-app/
https://androidmtk.com/replace-kinguser-with-supersu
You could probably find more.
The only way this worked for me was to read the script and figure out what the critical replacements are. You should note that the critical steps involve files that have the immutable bit set, and the scripts show a two step process of first changing the immutable bit, and then deleting the file. I did these by hand, since some of the files that needed replacing were not in the sub-folders indicated in the scripts.
HI, fellow m7vzw user here. Let me share my experience. Around mid 2015 last year HTC released an update for lollipop that patched kingroot to be used to root its device. But all hope is not lost as you can doengrade back to the version of lollipop that is vulnerable to Kingroot exploit. I discussed this method last year around October with some other htc one m7 vzw owners. One of them pointed out that as a failsafe in case something went wrong with htc's firmware, it can be downgraded back ONE version to avoid that faulty firmware. For example if they release a version in January, February and March (March firmware being faulty as example). You can downgtade back to the previous firmware using fastboot and the required firmware files. We never tried to downgtafe again from Febraury to January because when we were already rooted and s-off after one downgrade ???.All files on links for the files are located on the Verzion HTC one forum..... i'll try to find the post containing proof for you.
