Hey there,
i have a Nexus 7 (2013) with android 4.4.2 (KOT49H). I unlocked the bootloader with wugfresh´s toolkit - so far no problems. Then i tried to root... The toolkit installed TWRP and launched into recovery to install the needed root files, but the device remained there...and nothing happened. On the PC the process froze showing the message "waiting for device". I rebooted the device manually from recovery. After the reboot i had no root access.
Because of these problems i decided to use the "Flash Stock + Unroot" option in the toolkit. First i completely reinstalled all related drivers with the full driver intallation guide and i got the "Success" message after testing. I enabled usb-debugging and went through the restore process. Then i got the message "FAILED (data transfer failure (Too many links))". My device remained in bootloader mode. At least it is possible to boot into bootloader mode every time. But when i try to start the device normal it freezes on the google logo, because the rom is partially wiped.
What can i do to get my device to stock firmware without to exacerbate the situation? Should i enable "Force Flash Mode"?
Please help me, thank you very much!
I attached the log below...
Ditch the toolkit. Download the Google revert to stock package, unzip it, connect your device in fastboot and run the flash all batch file

Thanks! I will try this method. Is it necessary to install some further specific fastboot drivers or are the ones installed by the toolkit sufficient? USB-Debugging was checked before in developer options but the android os is partially wiped. So will this be a problem? Is there a possibility to control if the device is recocnized correctly before i run the batch file. I think i don´t have to remove the "-w" from the fastboot update command because everything has to be wiped.
Just follow the tutorial, you should be good to go. And the adb and fastboot drivers are the same.

Ok i started the batchfile but it said that the fastboot command couldn´t be found. Then i copied the 5 files of the unpacked factory image into the sdk -> platform tools directory. Am i right? Now when i run the flash-all file it says "waiting for device" I do this for the first time so i´m a little bit uncertain. Is all i have to do now to connect my nexus in fastboot mode? Thank you very much again!
Here are some screenshots...
Have you looked in Device Manager from Windows if the hardwaredriver of device is correctly installed. While in recovery and usb-connected type 'adb devices' in Command Window to see if there is connnection before flashing.
I had the same problem in Windows 8 first time flashing. Only way to get driver and device in recovery mode working in my case: In Device manager I clicked 'update driver' of 'unknown device', browsed to unpacked driver Folder and let Windows install correctly.

In the driver manager there is an android device connected "Google Nexus BootLoader Interface" but when i run the command "adb devices" i don´t get an device listed although i am connected in bootloader mode. Recovery isn´t working anymore (shows android with triangle), because of the bad factory reset with the toolkit. So what can i do to get my device recognized? Actually the needed drivers should be okay, because the universal drivers were installed via the toolkit and i was able to unlock the bootloader etc. What i´m doing wrong?
Thank you for help.
I appologize, but this is out of ny league. I would first try that toolkit-thread. I am sure there will be a repair thread too. Good luck.

When you are connected to the computer in the bootloader (on the N7), what does it say when you type "fastboot devices"? (without the quotation marks)

Thanks, i think you found the solution When i use the command "fastboot devices" i get this: 08f34cbd
Does it mean everything is correctly installed and i´m ready to flash the factory image? I am also asking me if it was right to extract all the files of the razor-kot49h factory image into the platform tools directory of sdk, but otherwise when i just executed the flash-all file somewhere on the computer there were failure messages, so i assume it should be right this way. Thank you!

Yes it does! Nothing was coming up when you typed "adb devices" because that's only when you're in the OS after it completely boots into it's ROM. Fastboot is for when it's in the bootloader menu. And yes, you are correct regarding the factory image zip. Extract everything out of the zip (I can't remember if there's a zip inside that zip, but I think there is). Make sure you unzip that as well if there is. Then, place all the image files into that platform-tools folder. So you should have image files for Bootloader, System, Userdata, Boot, Recovery and Cache. I don't think the cache is necessary, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to flash it as well.
I followed these steps when restoring the factory image on my N7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701
I used Method 2 from the OP. Obviously, those instructions are for the Nexus 5, but it'll work. Just skip over the part where it says "flashboot flash radio". So fastboot flash the bootloader, reboot bootloader, fastboot system, fastboot userdata, fastboot boot, fastboot recovery, fastboot erase cache (or fastboot cache if you want to flash the cache image from the factory image zip). Then, manually select "Recovery Mode" on the phone using the volume buttons on the N7. It'll show that Android on it's back with the red exclamation mark. Hit Power + Vol Up at the same time and it'll show the stock recovery menu. Select "Wipe data/Factory data reset" and reboot. You should be good to go.
Unzip the tar.gz and then double click flash all, no need to unzip anything inside the tar.gz. and yes, adb commands only work from inside the os, you need to use fastboot commands when in the bootloader. I would suggest reading up on it, very useful information.

Yeah, all went perfectly well! After the factory image was restored i flashed twrp with fastboot, installed super su over sideload and then busy box from the playstore. I immediately did a full backup in the recovery At this point i want to say thank you to all who helped me! You are awesome!
First i was afraid that my nexus couldn´t be repairable anymore. So i´m really happy now that everything worked.

I was trying to install a new rom but I wanted to reformat my sdcard first. I planned on reformatting, mounting the sdcard so my pc would pick it up, moving the rom I chose to the freshly formatted sdcard, then flashing the rom. I started by doing a full wipe of everything, then wiped the internal sdcard. The problem is when I try to mount the sdcard to transfer files nothing happens. I tried doing a restore using odin but it gets stuck at setup connection. Is there anything else I can do or is it completely bricked?

I'm not the guy who can tell you what you need to do, but I will tell you that I have read other posts by people in your position. There are ways to push the necessary files to your phone, either toolkits or command prompt type setups, sorry but that's all I have. Google is your friend though. Galaxy Nexus toolkit, start with that, it's around here somewhere

You cannot mount the sd on the gnex through recovery. There is no SD to mount.
To move a file to your phone you must push it with adb
adb push nameofzip /storage/sdcard0

Since there's no rom on my phone, would I need to be in recovery or bootloader to do that?

Have you installed adb drivers? You probably should have done this already, unless you used a toolkit to unlock and root...
To install drivers, download the naked driver located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20058157&postcount=1
Then, follow this guide to install them correctly.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29044502&postcount=735
If they are set up correctly you will be able to push the rom to your internal storage booted in recovery with adb. A list of adb commands is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812959
If you aren't comfortable with that I recommend that you flash the stock images to your phone with fastboot following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
This should be all the info you need. I'll be around to answer questions you may have. Just post them here.
Good Luck.

The Galaxy Nexus Toolkit, which uses adb to push files to the phone. It gets about halfway through the process then fails because it says Im using an insecure bootloader
None of the info I gave you has anything to do with the toolkit. If you want to use it I cannot help you. Sorry. If you want to read my thoughts about toolkits check my sig.
However, If you follow what I posted in post #7 I will help you though the process as long as it takes.

I cant follow the guide you linked to install the drivers, because it instructs me to enable usb debugging...I have no rom installed on my phone so I cant enable it.
OK. I'm not sure if you can install the driver without debugging activated. But, I know you can install the fastboot driver when booted in the bootloader because I have done it.
1) Boot into the bootloader. (power + vol. up and down)
2) Connect to your pc
3) Open your device manager and you should see "android 1.0"
4) Right click on that and choose update driver.
5) Choose install from my computer and then install the naked driver.
6) Click done and then it should show Galaxy Nexus Bootloader Interface.
You will now be ready to flash the stock google image. Follow this guide.
You'll be up and running again. You can then flash a custom recovery and ROM if you so choose. OR just roll with stock.

Because you're not supposed to open up adb by double clicking on it.
You're supposed to navigate to the location where it is using CMD and do commands from there.

So I made a mistake and I tried to flash the newest aokp build 3 without a backup. I got my new phone a while back and never made a backup.
I flashed build 3 and (accidentally) some old gapps and I kept getting stuck on the Google screen.
Next I tried pushing files through the Gnex tool kit and manually through fastboot. I keep getting errors that there is no insecure boot or that the device is not connected. attempts at a temporary insecure boot on the tool kit fail.
Next I tried a wipe and then just installing build 3 without google apps so I could add the correct one after boot, but it is again stuck.
So now I'm really not sure what to do. Any suggestions?
Rule number 1 : STOP using toolkits!!
now, can you get into cwm recovery?
Yes, I can gt into twrp everything I did except for trying to push the last files was through twrp
by the way, I have a Verizon Nexus
And as a side comment: The tool kit was used as a last ditch effort. The toolkit had nothing to do with bricking the device. The toolkit has been extremely useful for unlocking and rooting multiple devices quickly.
You could eithther try to flash back to stock or you could boot into TWRP & adb push a different ROM. (You did try Wipe Data / Factory Reset right?)

I think what thegtfusion was trying to say was: if you wouldn't have used a toolkit in the past, you would have known how to fix your bootloop.
Buy anyway:
1) Boot into recovery and plug into your PC
2) Open a command prompt (in the folder where you have adb.exe and fastboot.exe)
3) Push the ROM (and kernel if it doesn't come with it) you want to flash to your device: adb push /path/to/ROM.zip /sdcard/
4) Reboot into fastboot mode
5) Erase your old ROM: fastboot erase system
6) Erase your old kernel: fastboot erase boot
7) Reboot into recovery
8) Wipe /data and /cache
9) Flash your ROM & kernel in recovery
10) Reboot. Done.

Drivers
Thanks for the drivers. I uninstalled all of the drivers and used the universal one. Everything seems to work until I run 'adb devices' and my Galaxy Nexus is not listed.
I feel that my device is not getting seen because of something I have wrong, but after adb, fastboot, and the correct drivers I'm not sure.
PS - Even with the universal driver I still have to run adb and fastboot from the original directory that I installed them correct? I don't run them from the driver in anyway correct?

did you install android-sdk (and added adb/fastboot to your $PATH) or are you using binary versions of adb and fastboot downloaded elsewhere?
if it's the latter, commands should be run from the directory where you extracted them.
about the drivers, i think you need to go to device manager and update drivers manually to the ones you installed (refered here in the post before mine), assuming you're on windows.

USB Debugging needs to be enabled in Android for ADB to work in Android.
CWM and TWRP have USB Debugging enabled by default, so ADB will work fine in recovery with no other action from the user.
Hello, I've tried rooting my Nexus 7 (2013) with LTE for like 5 hours now...
I've done every single thing in every single thread, and I still can't do ****.
I've tried the WugFresh root toolkit, but that did not work at all for me, I uninstalled and remove what they told me to do... But nothing worked, when I followed the WugFresh toolkit I lost usb mass storage... N7 did not appear at all on my computer, which it did, before I tried to screw with it...
I've tried doing it the manual way too, downloading all the drivers, uninstalling the other onces first.. But nothing... I could not even get the device listed in adb! I tried the full driver installation thing + automatic check if everything worked out, but the tablet would NOT run the script to reboot it into fastboot, and when I tried to restart the tablet into fastboot, and then continue to run the toolkit, it would start TWRP, the popup on my computer told me to flash something "!flashready", but I could not find it in the sdcard...
I unlocked the n7 manually, holding the volume button and power button down.
I know that was very bad written, but I'm a bit in a hurry. Anything I could do?

I'm not sure what this means. If you're using a toolkit, you're not doing it manually. Have you tried ADB and fastboot alone, without a toolkit? Is TWRP on your phone now? If so, you're done; just flash from recovery 1) a ROM for a custom ROM or 2) SuperSU.zip for just root.
If you don't have TWRP, does your Google boot screen has a locked icon at the bottom? If so: for ADB to work you need to have debugging turned on in your phone's developer settings. You don't need ADB though; just reboot into the bootloader by holding power and volume-down. Then type "fastboot devices" and see if anything shows up.
If it's an unlocked icon, just flash a recovery.img from fastboot.

Fastboot is separate from ADB. Your fastboot is working if the toolkit is able to boot TWRP.

openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-flo.img is for the WiFi model. TWRP for the LTE model is openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-deb.img.

The toolkit is using the command
Code:
fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-deb.img
to temporarily boot it over the stock recovery. Since you unlocked your bootloader manually, you can replace the stock recovery manually too using
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-deb.img

Where in windows should I paste openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-deb.img, so I can then flash it? It showed up in fastboot devices

I am an idiot.
Today I decided I would play around with some different ROMs. All was going well. I was becoming adept at flashing, booting, restoring, repeat.
All the ROMs I had tried up to this point were 4.3. I decided to go with something different. I installed OmniRom, which went okay, other than the fact it wouldn't recognize WiFi signals.
As any modern-day geek would do, I took to Google. I found a pretty promising solution that had me flash a firmware zip. This the point at which I made my mistake. As I should have remembered, firmware is DEVICE SPECIFIC. I did not bother to look at what device it was for as I had included "2013 Nexus 7" in my Google search.
The zip I flashed was for the Oppo Find 5. Facepalm.
My device will now not boot at all. I have tried charging for an hour or two from a computer, then a wall charger. The computer does not recognize the device. I've tried every possible button combination to get into recovery, fastboot, normal boot, etc. None have worked.
Anyone have any ideas?
What kind of firmware was it? Bootloader?

I was able to experience a HARD BRICK myself but it was because I flashed a 4.3.1 update on top of a 4.3 once which led me to go into the TWRP recovery and delete my SYSTEM AND INTERNAL STORAGE by accident.
Don't fret my friend. If you're experiencing the supposed HARD BRICK I experienced before (wherein it does not turn on at all), all you have to do is this:
- download the WugFresh N7 toolkit and look for a thread/try to discover how to unbrick your device using that. (they have a specific option for that actually; THANK YOU WUGFRESH)
- download the necessary factory image of your choice and binaries from this page (courtesy of google https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images)
- You will see a button for at the WugFresh toolkit with instructions on how to unbrick your thing.
Hit thanks if this helps and if you have any more questions, feel free to reply

There's an option for a soft-bricked device (will turn on, just stuck in a bootloop). However, I don't see the option for a hard-bricked device.
Anyway, I'll try the soft-bricked solution and see if that works.
EDIT: Yep, doesn't seem to be working. It requires the tablet to be in Fastboot mode, which I cannot get into, because the tablet will not boot at all.
Which option did you use to unbrick your tablet?
Still no luck. Any ideas?

Yes, I tried that multiple times.
You could try to download the factory image (https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images), extract the files into the adb platform-tools folder, open a command window and run flash-all.bat

I will try that. However I do not think it will work, considering the tablet will not boot, so adb will probably not work.
But it's worth a try.

Just an update -- sending in the tablet to SquareTrade as I purchased an extended warranty. However I only have $60 coverage at the moment because I already had the screen repaired. If they can't repair it, I'll be getting $60 to put toward buying a new Nexus. I hope all goes well :fingers-crossed:.

PS: Currently recovery doesn't work, for that i need to reinstall it..

Whoa, whoa, I can't tell you what to do next until I know what you've already done, or didn't do.
Please answer the following:
Did you get the correct factory image? <-- very very important
What device do you have (FLO or DEB), I'll assume you know for sure you have the Nexus 7 2013 and NOT the Nexus 7 2012 model.
Which image did you download (so I can check). FLO is wifi, DEB has the LTE.
You do know it will revert your device to like how you got it? So make backups if possible. (you can edit the batch file and remove the -w to prevent wiping).
The following is for when you make sure you have everything right, do not do the following if you are not sure, you should answer those questions above first and I will let you know if it is ok to proceed to the stuff below.
You will need at least these files in a directory before you can do it:
From the factory tgz (once unzipped):
bootloader-flo-flo-04.02.img
flash-all.bat
flash-all.sh
flash-base.sh
image-razor-kot49h.zip
And at least these files from the dev kit:
fastboot.exe
You don't need the following for this operation, but it does not hurt:
adb.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
AdbWinUsbApi.dll
If all that checks out and you verified everything is right, you just do:
flash-all.bat
That will flash EVERYTHING, bootloader, recovery, system, data, cache and userdata.

Hi, i played around with my new OP3, and i wanted to root it. Since i'm noob at rooting, it went wrong. (i did it with twrp)
So first it just went in to bootloop, then i was still able to get to rcovery and stuff, but i followed a guide to fix bootloop, and that ****ed it even more up. The guide i followedet told me to use "OnePlus3_Unbrick_Tool"
After using "OnePlus3_Unbrick_Tool", i now cant even go into recovery anymore, the only thing i can do is go to bootloader, but when i'm in bootloader now, it wont connect proberly, so that i can use "flash twrp", so that i can use twrp recovery.
Also when i try to boot it, it because of "OnePlus3_Unbrick_Tool" goes into something, where it says "md5 checksum failed", and then restarts and does it again and again.....
I hope it's not bricked forever, pls help ))
have you tried re-flashing the stock or twrp recovery with adb sideload command?
if not give it a shot, it might work.

Just boot into bootloader mode and through command prompt check if your phone is detected by typing fastboot devices. If its detected then you flash a new recovery again. Forget the toolkit, just look for instructions on how to install a custom recovery.

Hey!
I'm not the expert but I have played with my 1+3 enough to have some knowledge.
First of all, do not use "all in one tools", those do not put you in control.
Cool, so fastboot is detected, though you can't get into the recovery?
Step 1) make sure you have the latest version of "fastboot" and "adb" (Android Debug Bridge) and unlock the bootloader. This tread should be helpfull: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/oneplus-3-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t3398733
You need to do this, because otherwise we will not be able to proceed (i.e. the phone is to be 'unlocked' for what we are about to do).
Step 2) If you are ready than let's flash a new recovery (TWRP):
This is also step 2 in the thread mentioned above. Very important: "Once the flash has completed, Don't use the "Fastboot Reboot" Command Instead Unplug Your phone then Manually boot it into recovery by keeping Power + Volume Down button pressed."
So once you have flashed a new recovery using fastboot, than you should reboot your phone into the new recovery!
step 3)
Once in the new recovery (TWRP) go to advanced and to ADB sideload. Make sure your computer detects your device with the command "adb devices" and flash a new ROM. Just for simplicity use the official OOS 3.2.4.
This should do the trick. Before you go and try make sure you understand EVERYTHING I have written. Let me know if you have questions.

Hey i have the same problem but this fix does not work for me.
So I have the bootloader unlocked and I can enter the bootload and my computer detects my device which is nice.
when I flash twrp on my phone trough CMD it doesnt work, my PC tells me that everything is okay but my phone will not boot into twrp and instead it will give me weird errors.
---------- Post added at 03:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:56 PM ----------
this fix worked for me,
On the screen when the phone failed to md5 checksum, you've got several partition failed right? in red text.
- download this : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424942573
and then extract.
- download platform tools attached below. extract in the same folder with first file you've downloaded.
- Boot your phone to fastboot mode, plug your usb, make sure adb and fastboot driver are installed.
- on the folder, hold shift and right click, click open command here
- type fastboot devices
- make sure your serial number appear.
- now flash the img of the missing file according to the partition in red text on your ms5 checksum failed one by one.
- e.g. "fastboot flash boot_aging boot_aging.img.
- make sure you flash all the missing partition.
- type fastboot reboot.
this will boot you to oos 3.1.2.
unfortunately I couldn't extract the newest oos dat. data. but you could always take the OTA
goodluck mate. sorry for my english

Hmm bad try installing all op3 drivers and see whether phone is detected or not. I was in the same situation previously. Pushing zip through adp terminal is painful process. I got device offline first, after solving that i got service not recognized issue. For solving that usb debugging needs to be enabled i stuck in that step.
can you enter recovery trough fastboot mode? I.e. if you are in fastboot mode you van use the volume keys to select recovery.
100% sure you can't enter recovery?
you can try Fast and pro's option. let us know!
