Dear Forum Administrators,
How can I/we convert current DesireHD forums to DevDB style? I use my DesireHD more than 3 years, and I wouldn't replace while it's working. So I want to make this forum better than before, and I want to spend some time for re-categorise forums for DevDB. Can I help in this project?
I afraid of this change, because the DevDB is not contains DesireHD. In other hand, I don't know I able to categorise another teams forum or I have to ask every developer for change.
Thank you for answer!
Andras TIM
Brilliant idea.

Hi,
Don't know if this was here before, but I didn't find anything with the search function.
Since the Xperia hit shelves some days ago and is becoming more popular each day, I wanted to request a split of the subforum. Actually I'm not the only one who thinks this would make sense -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437444
Its becoming more confusing every day mixing program/modification requests with other general stuff. Since Olipro & cmonex are working on a HardSPL, its only a matter of time (if they get it working - which I have no doubt) when Xperia ROMS will be published.
So please give the Xperia an own subforum with seperate general and modification subforums.
best regards
you mean this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=436
I mean to split that forum. One subforum is becoming more confusing every day ...
Would be nice to have a dedicated subforum with 2-3 subforums for general stuff, modifications and maybe accessories.
yes please would be really great to have an own section one forum is alittle bit strange already
Yes plese could we have subfourms as well.
Subforums would be nice.
Especially before the single forum gets to overcrowded with posts/topics.
Appreciate it once it's done.
Great forum board.
Without it my X1 would be a former shadow of what it is now.
I'm loving all the tweaks & updates
I agree, it needs to be subsplit, the one forum is already getting very busy and looks to be getting more popular all the time.
it already has more threads than some of the other devices combined.
I'd suggest the same as the Diamond, 4 sections, Standard, Rom Dev, Accessories and Apps/Themes.
retty please:
yeah, subforum needed! (as previously requested in xperia forum itself )
+1 for X1 sub forum
So who do we talk to about this?
Dedicated standard 3-forum layout for the X1 would be great. This has to be the most popular non HTC branded phone to date.
Nigel
i agree subforums would be great
maybe even 4 on just for apps and one just for panels then one for roms and another for accessories
Would be great with an Xperia subforum before the posts in the general thread grows more. It's kind of messy as it is.
Would be great with a Xperia Subforum with 3 or 4 categories
Agreed, we need a proper forum.
thank you for the xperia subforum
here is an image for it http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/5192/xperiaxdavc3.png (made by me starting from promotional)
Hello proud SGS-owners!
(Beware, wall-of-text)
I've been lurking around the xda forums since I got my first Android phone (Hero). Now that I've gotten myself an SGS I've "moved" from the Hero forums to the SGS forums. My first impression was that the SGS forum community is far behind that of the Hero community, which is understandable considering that SGS is a much newer phone and doesn't have as many users (yet).
I never felt that I had anything to contribute to the Hero community because it was already flourishing when I came there. I'd like to help the SGS community to move forward and reach that same level, and hopefully beyond. The SGS have the potential to be the real (iPhone?!) kick-ass phone we've all been waiting for, so why not have a kick-ass community?
It took me hours, scouring the threads, to learn how to safely flash and root my phone, but it was well worth it. The problem is, most people don't have the same patience or time to do so. So, for starters. How about we combine our shared knowledge and put up a post that will hold all the necessary info on all current FWs, basic info on how you flash, root, what odin is, how-to's and not-to-do's, and so forth.
All of this can and should also be put in the wiki, but I believe we also need a thread for it here or many people will miss out on the info. Perhaps something in between, the best of two worlds? Right now the SGS wiki is really lacking...
Any ideas or opinions? I'm all ears and open for discussion
To the mods: You can move this thread to general if you think it's out of context. However, this is first and foremost targeted at the dev-community so I think it should be left here.
Best regards,
Marcus

Great idea to collect as many information as possible. But there's a already a thread for this: the big faq thread.
I like your intiative though. And yes, it would be very nice to have an updated wiki.
BTW, for the general section it would be nice to have a sticky tips and tricks thread, like the one tboy2000 created for the HTC HD2. We need someone though that will maintain that post.

Shame on me. How on earth did I miss that thread?!
Do you know if you can you let other people edit the original post in some way? That would help alot

I surely does ... But i don't believe it can be done.
BTW that would be a nice tip for XDA-dev forum developers: create an option to let multiple (selected?) users colaborate and edit one opening post. But then again, that would be almost be the same functionality as a wiki
I agree with the op, the faq thread is good but this forum could really use a 'getting started' thread for people that just got their phone. And it should be in the general forum instead of development.
I just joined this lovely community yesterday and I could not help but notice the massive collection of phone sections present. I think, as this forum grows, it would be a good idea to put all Samsung phones in one section, HTC phones in an HTC section, etc etc. Also, google should have it's own section .
Welcome to forums

Hi, all. I am visiting XDA forums for many months but i havent posted very much because every time i have found what i needed in other threads and posts. But now i want to take over the Desire Index in Dev Section over from 'fflash' as he wants someone to take over. I will gladly do that and promise to keep my fellow desire owners updated.
But as i dont have enough posts yet, and thanks to meet the criteria set by fflash, please help me out so that i can help you in return. Thanks
A dedicated Sony Xperia Z forum before Asus PadFone 2? I'm disappointed for the first time in XDA. There have been a LOT of requests for a separate forum for our lovely device that is already out in many parts of the world. And now you make a forum for a device that isn't even out yet!

The PadFone is very expensive for what it is, and has failed to capture the interests of developers. The Xperia Z already has developer interest. We add devices based on development potential, and as of yet we've not seen anyone who is in a position to develop that is interested.
You seem to forget that this site is for developers, does not matter how many 'normal' users have a device its all down to the amount of developers that are interested in developing for a device
Pleaseeeeee create subforum
I got the phone from ebay US nd loving it without rooting nd custom rom
But trust me Asus rocks but why the moderators are being unfair for this super hero

Guessing none of the mods are getting one and then there is no need to make a forum. From the request thread this have been much more sought for that the Sony. Ohh well.

The PadFone series has had a recurring issue of not attracting developer attention, due to being more expensive than other similar products.
There has been no real developer interest that I'm aware of. That's why there's no forum.
and these?
http://www.modaco.com/forum/689-asus-padfone-2/
Please
Do not think it's that difficult to create a forum for padfone own 2, no industrial and other amounts, but there is interest!
And with your help, and creating a forum of their own, surely that would give him a push ...
And just to be specific, tablet + phone 700E. is cheaper to buy a phone and a tablet separately ...
thanks
regards

Tbh I got a nexus 10 and phone for much less than 700 EUR...
I looked at the looked forum, seems a dead device... There are 6 threads. But if we add a device, mods must be assigned, and various other things done. As such, we don't add nearly as many niche devices as users would like.
I am afraid you've not really showed interest - do you have, for example, an established CM maintainer who has got source built CM running? These are the kinds of things that show developer interest
Asus padfone 2 subforum please!
Asus padfone 2 subforum please!
+1 for sub forum
+ 100000 sub forum padfone 2
That would greatly help the devs will be encouraged to get roms, etc and assume it would help to sell more ....
+1 for adding subforum
Guys, you don't need to be asking for a forum for the Padfone 2 because;
1) This is the wrong thread to be requesting a forum be added for it. The relevant thread is stickied at the top of this very forum AND
2) One of the admins has already explained that a forum won't be added unless there's proof of strong development for this device.
If, as already suggested, there was an established CM maintainer who has got CM running on this device, then that would likely greatly increase your chances of having a forum created.
Also, don't say that the Padfone 2 will get more developers once it has a forum because that's a load of rubbish. The device is what intrigues/entices the developers. NOT whether there's is a specific sub-forum or not.
There is a Miscellaneous Android Development forum which is perfect for your needs as you can post any development for the Padfone over there.
In facebook there is a portuguese group for this device! Guess how many of the people there actually develop something?
In 1500 people... 0 roms, themes, or whatever! So yes, i am quiet happy that they opened the forum for XPeria Z
is not expensive if u think that u get a phone and a table i buy mine and belive me is fantastic!
UP!
Some of you just don't get it. You're not getting the forum for the same reason I'm not getting a forum for the Kyocera Rise (except I'm not demanding one like I have some natural right to it). Do any of you have any evidence of custom ROM's, development, etc. for the Padfone?

do you need some more?

Yes. If it's just Paul you can easily use modaco as it's his forum.
Guys stop crying in here. XDA is a developers site.
If you really want to have a subforum then start developing for it.
That's the only way you'll get a dedicated forum. Constantly making +1 posts in here isn't helpful.
