Hi guys, I've read online that some versions doesn't include S-Pen Tips and Earphone.
Without opening the sealed box, is there a way to tell if that comes with the S-Pen tips and earphone?

thanks for the info.
I actually bought a unit, P605, it didnt come with any s-pen extra tips and no earphones.
So I asked for a refund. luckily the store agreed.
I got the p-601, it came with ear-phones and pen tips.
S-pen tips should come with all of the devices :/

that's not apparently the case everywhere.
I know a few guys who bought their units without S-pen tips and earphones.
Do you guys have SM-P605 in the box or just P605?

Well I have the wifi version but it says SM-P600 on mine.
If I were you I would call up samsung and get them to send you some as its not acceptable to not have extra and different tips.

Oh , I got a refund.
I'm still looking for alternative suppliers.
Problem is, Im in Asia, things are different over here. No support from companies.
Also, the only official Samsung Note 10.1 2014 here is the Wifi 16gb version.
So im looking at gray markets, since its the only way to get 32gb LTE versions.
I haven't seen a 64gb here yet.

I wonder why Samsung hasn't been consistent?
My Note 10.1 (1st Gen) came with stylus tips and earphones.
So far after watching youtube videos, reading comments from here and other groups
it seems that there are 4 different configurations
1) Complete with Earphones and Stylus Tips
2) Just comes with Earphones
3) Just comes with Stylus tips
4) No stylus tips and no earphones

Simple answer....I think Samsung are just being wierd!
The whole thing doesnt make sense. Anyone who didnt get s-pen tips as I have said before should deffo call up samsung or visit a store and demand some, personally i would be vexed esp considering I needed a different s-pen tip since I installed a screen protector.

I just placed an order today through phone.
I will get my unit tonight. I hope that I'd be lucky enough to get the S-Pen tips. I can live without the earphones, I still have 2 more samsung earphones that came with my note 2 and note 3 (unused).
From what I have gathered...
Box labels with just P605 - doesn't include S-Pen tips and earphones
Box labels with SM-P605 - comes with S-pen (not sure about earphones)
maybe those who already owns a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 can share their information.
Which box they got and if they have S-pen tips and earphones...
I have P600 Mine came with tips but no earphones.....My Note 3 was the same.

Did you buy the 32 gig P-601?
How much did your P-601 cost?
I'm in Laos and I got the P-601 32 gig white for $600 which I seemed to be too low in price and I wondered what others in Asia were paying for P-601.
I bought it in the Samsung store.
The first Samsung store I checked had it selling for around $760 and I don't know if that was p600 or p601 but no way I was paying that much.

If that was $600 USD I think that's a good deal. Here in China the prices are always higher, I paid 4600 Rmb ( 700 and something USD ) for the device, screen protector and case (case wasn't a Samsung one). Oh the price excluded the "fa piao" it's a piece of paper that proves you purchased it or something. Apparently it's needed to claim the warranty... not really sure. With the "fa piao" it was 4880 rmb ( I know we get ripped off here in China).
Hope this info helps.
Cheers.

Really a note 3 without earphones???
First time I've heard that.
My Note 3 N9005 (LTE) came with the tips and earphones
I've attached an image that shows the 2 different box of Note 10.1 2014.
The one with SM-P605 came with earphones and S-Pen Tips.
The one with just P605 came with just the charger
Btw: Samsung uses the same headset wiring as Apple and Sony, while LG swaps Mic & Gnd, like on old Nokias. But Nokia headsets are unusable anyway, as their control buttons run amok on droids.
For pure earphones, the cheap Sennheisers are among the few, which can achieve decent volume despite the volume limiter which is seen necessary for EU devices(wrongly, there's only a noise cap by law for kid's toys).

Samsung galaxy note 8.0

-399$
(I like this tablet but I am just concerned about the update)
vs
Samsung Tab 3 8.0
-1.5gb RAM

-Jelly bean 4.2.2

which 1 is worth?
You can easily find the note 8.0 on sale for $325 with the $25 play credit in the US. At that price I would easily say the note 8.0 is the better deal.

If you will have use for the spen get the note, if you think its just a fad then go for a cheaper option.
The main benifit of the spen is for note taking and drawing.

325$ can u tell me where
Samsung's naming scheme is confusing. This is what I've been able to come up with so far.
The Note devices are high end devices with better specs and S-pen.
The Tab devices are so-so specs-wise without S-pen (and crappy screens).
The Mega devices are Tab devices specs-wise with huge screen.
Then each line has different screen sizes. Some have phone and 3G/LTE functionality built in, and some don't.
Having said that, I own a Note 2, which's a very fine device, but I can count on one hand the number of times I actually pulled the S-pen out.
I understand their marketing strategy of "throw anything against the wall and see what sticks" but I really wish Samsung would simplify things.
Do you need a WACOM pen for taking notes? If yes, then get the Note 8. If no, then get the Tab.
you can use the tab 3 8 for note taking also. you just won't have pressure sensitivity or the great handwriting recognition software.
I dont have very fat fingers but like the s-pen for more then drawing or writing.
I use it for internet, typing, some games and find it usefull.
The tab 10.1 i have seems to give me less software problems. It's a lot slower however. I think the note 8.0 needs an update. Sometimes the screen freezes or it just needs a reboot to start working again. (although i can judge if its a combination of apps I use or that the problem lies in the tablet itself)
I would buy it again, thats my personal conclusion.

What about palm rejection? The ability to write at a comfortable angle with a stylus tip smaller than a sausage? Even if you're just taking notes, there's a world of difference imo.
heck yeah there's a big difference , but if someone wanted to save a few bucks the gt3-8 isn't really that bad. i almost considered it, but got the gn8 instead. could have gotten a refurb white for 320 but i really wanted the black/brown and the full warranty - though i've voided that lol.

Personally I feel the price difference really doesn't justify getting the Tab 3 8 inch. As previously stated you can get the Note 8 around the same price.

+1 to this thought. I simply don't care about the pressure sensitivity. The palm rejection is the one thing that prompted me to but the Note rather than any other tablet on the market right now.
You can write almost as comfortably as with a Pen and paper makes it a very good choice

Seriously? 225?
For, OP, you said you just wanted games and videos, why the Note 8.0? There are some very good (even cheaper) tablets out there that do a tremendous job of these.Wait a couple weeks for the Next Nexus 7, should be very good in Gaming etc. thanks to the Snapdragon 600.
The Note 8.0 is a very good device but difficult to justify the cost when you don't even need the feature that's included in its name!
Hi all,
I am looking into buying a Samsung Galaxy Note series tablet, as a key feature for me is the ability to take hand written notes with the S-pen. So clearly, I have two choices, if I want to stick with the current hardware cycle: Galaxy Note 8 or the upcoming Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition). I primarily want to use the tablet to take notes in class, and to read PDF files and comment etc. on the PDF files.
I wanted to ask you guys what should I buy? Firstly, I would like if you can answer me the following: Is the 8 inch screen on the galaxy note 8 big enough to comfortably take notes in a classroom (my use case would be notes in a university classroom, relatively fast paced).
Now in my eyes, the pros of the Galaxy note 8 are:
1. It is already available. It's been out for a while and so I know real world usage and of any existent bugs etc. It already got a price cut.
2. Much cheaper than the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014.
3. Has decent specs, and from my experience handwriting feels more natural than the old galaxy note 10.1.
4. More portable than the larger 10 inch one.
Also pros for the Galaxy note 10.1 2014 would be:
1. Far more powerful than the 8. Latest and greatest, so no worries on being outdated.
2. Larger screen, probably even better at handwriting.
So what would be best for my usage? Will I be well catered for with the cheaper Galaxy tab 8 for taking notes? Is it snappy and powerful enough? Or should I wait and buy the 10 inch one, that is far more expensive and we dunno real world usage issues and bugs?
Please let me know. Thanks!

you know, I have Nexus 7, ....it is a beautiful tablet, pure android, gets freq update from Google, but my problem I found it is a little small...I have 10 inch tablet, found it is a little big, and it seems like 8 inch tablets are in a perfect spot as far as size goes; it is neither too small, nor too big...of course, it is all about personal preference...that's why I picked Galaxy Tab Note 8 WiFi....I don't quite often use writing notes with SPen, but when I do needed, I am glad that it has SPen, and it is near perfect for taking note on Note 8, when I tried that on Note 10.1, i found it a bit awkward since taking note using SPen on 10 inch tablet does not feel natural. However, if you are artist, and doing a lot of drawing, it is no brainer that big screen is a big plus.
so keep it short; if you are after a tablet that mainly use taking notes and looking for portable, easily fit your hand, not so bulky, then your option is Note 8.0, and Note 8.0 hardware specs not bad at all too. but if you are artist (a lot of drawing, painting, video editing, etc..), then new Note 10.1 is probably good fit.
like I said in my previous post, I was planing to replace my 2 year old galaxy tab 10.1 inch tablet with new Note 10.1 tablet, but until I saw the prices for 32GB, I am giving a sec though whether paying that premium high price worth or not.
I use mine in class at a university all the time I take video of the professor insert in my own notes as well as pictures and so on. It's perfect for that type of application. The s pen is quick to recognize handwriting and pretty accurate once you use it enough you'll really be impressed with what it can do. It's a great tablet for this purpose.

But there is no Staples near me with that tablet in stock!
I'm surprised no one has said "it depends on you" yet. I've actually owned both a Note 10.1 and now the Note 8.0. I obviously can't speak to the 10.1 2014, but the thing I disliked about the 10 was the weight and the charge time. The larger screen was nice for watching movies, but the weight made it suck for watching a full length feature film. As for the stylus part, the Note 10 seems better for artwork, but crappier for writing.
What I like about the Note 8 is the weight, charge time, and it is much better for taking notes. I use it all the time for taking notes now. The screen, while smaller, is much more crisp too.
I can say that I would not buy the Note 10.1 2014 on launch day though. Just look at the Note 8. Released at $399, within like a month you could get it for $349. Now I've frequently seen it for $299. That's a pretty big cut for a device that hasn't been around long. I'm guessing the new 10 would be similar. Give it 3-4 months and you'll get a substantial savings. Unless of course money is no object to you.

Well everyone. I am very thankful for your replies. It gave me a LOT better picture of the whole thing. I dived right in and bought the Galaxy Note 8 for a measly $238 after taxes thanks to the amazing offer from Staples. It will be here by next week so unfortunately I can't play around with it yet! But yeah, I've tried the tablet several times in stores, found that the stylus is a lot more crisp in response than the old 10.1 and display is pretty good too. I think at this price point, buying a note 8 was definitely the more sensible option, I can't choke down the $549 price of the Note 10.1. And I really don't want to wait months for the price to go down. I need a tablet that can take notes right now...
at $600 I'd rather grab a windows tablet. i've got both 700t and 500t but i'llbe giving my daughter the 500t soon. $550 last year was really pushing it, but at $600 you've hit laptop pricing. i'llprobably grab another old 10.1 since the hardware is still pretty powerful and going for $300 refurb. I sold my old one for $300 earlier is year and regret it every day, lol.

For $238 Galaxy Note 8 is a steal. Lucky that you were able to get from Stable, since many stores sold out like crazy because of $75 off coupon...
it is weird that $75 off coupon only for samsung devices, I wonder if they are clearing the inventory for Samsung devices...
I received my Note 8 in a shipment today. This is the one I bought from Staples for $238 with all those discounts. But I noticed that the seal of the box was tampered with! It says clearly across the seal to not accept it if the seal is tampered. It looks fine inside, but do you think this is a refurb or a return??? How dare they ship me a used piece! I am supposed to get a brand new one :/
Also, I think I am having some trouble registering this device to at Samsung's galaxy perk website.. The perks are extended till December 31, so the deadline ain't the issue!

If you have a Staples store nearby, you could exchange it without any problem.
Hate Samsung because of not to release note 8 2014 at the same time of note 3 & note 10 2014.
Note 8 2013 was also, then it was configured similar to note 2 & note 10 2013, although 1/2 year later.
Hi.
I currently own a Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012) and unfortunately I woke it up during lunch and was surprised to find that the screen now hates black and now it displays things incorrectly. It's still usable but ugly to look at. So I've read some reviews and it seems that the battery life is much worse and it's laggy even with 8 cores. So after more than 6 months, is this cellphone/tablet worth it now? I prefer the 10 inch notes for random sketching though but I normally do my art with a real Wacom tablet. I'm thinking of either suffering until the release of the next Galaxy Note 10.1 or possibly jump at Asus Transformer Book V or just jumping to the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014. I mainly just use my tablet for Internet and drawing on Sketchbook Pro.
If you are normal with a life and don't sit around all day and pick at everything , This tablet is the best out there for the money,,I have had mine since Dec 21013 and had no issues , I'm rooted and its stupid fast and does everything, Don't listen to the reviews on this tab, most of the bad ones are IPad goons and people with way too much time on their hands.

if it's a "gift", we are allowed up to a certain amount, but that designation depends on the seller (eBay peeps can be accommodating). sometimes i'll get stuff shipped to Point Roberts, just across the border, and then take a drive and roll the dice with the border guard. i've had $700 phones and gear sent that way, and have lucked out.
you Americans get all the good stuff! the black version of the P600 hasn't even been released yet here. and probably won't be ...
gotta say, i really dig the Official Book Cover. slim, and still shows off the design of the tablet, with just enough protection for the screen (not using any film or tempered glass on the screen.

PM me, if you'd like.
If you want to root while keeping warranty, I suggest NOT buying this tablet.
I just bought it and regretted it due to the above. I don't install custom ROM, but I need root for Xposed (unrestricted Multiview), debloat (seems very necessary for Samsung devices) and back up (Helium and Titanium Backup).
Don't spread misinformation- you can get root w/o tripping Knox nor voiding your warranty.

For Wifi version?! I know there is one for 3G/LTE with TowelRoot, but but not Wifi version. CF Root for Wifi will trip KNOX.
If there is, please do share. I'd love to root my tablet.
I have Wifi and I'm rooted and Knox is 0x0

Well, can you share the link how to do this? Then maybe you can ask mod to update the FAQ, since as of today, there is NO root for KK for Wifi without tripping KNOX.
Here's the FAQ: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723420
Here's the CF root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2490805
Let's play nice...
I would say yes to buying. On the neg for me I root and custom rom all Android devices I own and got mine this weekend not having read this forum. It came with 4.4.2 so I can only root but cannot do a custom recovery for a custom rom as some here have had theirs longer than I.
Don't know if any love will come for the 442 but if root is not your concern it is a sweet device. I know without a custom rom I am missing another level that they offer.

I am playing nice - I gave OP info about root just in case he wants to do so.
However, I was "accused" of spreading mis-information by @kcrudup and @GalaxyNotesTx. If I gave wrong info, correct me by providing the link to rooting Wifi version without tripping KNOX, and I'll fix my post.
FYI: I just got this tablet yesterday and have been searching XDA and Googling other forums and sites - no root without tripping KNOX for wifi version. So I don't want OP to be as disappointed as me IF he/she wants root.
After my Note 3 and Moto G was stolen ,, i bought LG G Pro Lite Dual and thinking on getting a tablet for Games Movies and all kind of entertainment ,,, for a week now i was reading and watching all reviews and i can't choose between the Note 10.1 2014 Edition and Tab S 10.5
The Note 10.1 2014 is already available for a good price the 3G version will cost me around 550USD while the Tab S isn't here yet and don't know it's price but for sure it will be more expensive
so do you advice getting the Note 10.1 2014 or shall i wait for the Tab S ??!!

I think it depends on whether you need the S-pen or not. I've looked at the Tab S, but I need the pen.
Plus, the Note is only $459 at Amazon, so it's cheaper.

Can't get it throw Amazon here in Egypt so i have to get it from any local store ,, i used Note 2 and Note 3 but i can't say that i use the SPen that much ,, it's a great addition indeed but holding 2 phones in my hand before prevented me from using the SPen
the main issue that the Tab S will be out of my budget fore sure but if it worth it then i will try to get one whenever it's here also they almost identical in specifications except for the screen Super LCD Vs. Super AMOLED
I guess for sure that Samsung will update all this devices for Android L so i don't have to worry about it
I would prefer to get the Snapdragon version but it's a quit rare in common and hard to get so i have to stick to the Exynos although i prefer the Snapdragon
So what do you think ?!

Yes, or perhaps the 12" if that would work for you. I think the 2014 Note is still the best 10 " option available

Why do you recommend the Galaxy Tab Pro ? comparing to Note 10.1 2014 they are both identical but you got the SPen and more 1GB of RAM so i guess the Note 10.1 2014 is better than Galaxy Tab Pro and maybe cheaper also
Is it the regular Tab 3, or the Tab 3 Lite?
Okay, was doing more searching and I think it's the normal Tab 3. Going to leave this here tho just in case I am wrong.
U are right. The r only indicates, that IrDa is built into the device.

The SM-T210R is The regulär Tab3 7.0 US Version with IR blaster.
Okay, thanks guys!
I am going to be picking it up Friday. I paid $110 for it at a pawn shop. It's not the greatest Tab I guess from reading reviews, but I plan on rooting it, killing powersaver mode and tweaking it a bunch. I am sure msot of the negative reviews are from those who want a high end gaming tablet and by people who don't root.

I also would not recommend the tab... i hardlx use it because it often is slow and sometimes gets stuck and stuff. I am still on stock and maybe an uodatr to KK will fix some things, but until now, I d probably go for another tab with better support, like tab 2 7" or others that are around the same price. Still it is not the worst tablet neither for sure

I am waiting to see what VZW offers.
Here are Samsung's incentives: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-reserve-samsung-galaxy-z-fold-3/
I bit and reserved, but I really doubt I will actually buy. The above does not tell you how much trade in value they will actually give and so the final price is unknown.
I may be losing out, but will wait to see what VZW offers me.
Just preordered with the Samsung upgrade program from a note 20 5g
Extra package is a case, spen and charger
I pre-ordered, as well. Phantom Green and a silver watch 4 classic. I thought the trade in value was fair. $800 for my Fold 2 + $100 for reserving and $200 off accessories. I knew I was going to get the watch. So, it was either $400 for the watch or spend a little over $500 more for both.
They gave me 900 for my fold z2 and $100 in extras.got the spen case an extra s pen and dual 35w charger and extra 25 w charger .
For me, the upgrade is just not worth the hassle, until the 512GB version is available in Phantom Silver, which, YES (I called Samsung to verify) it WILL be! I'll be patient, wait and get a deal on an Unlocked Phantom Silver 512GB Fold 3 in a few months, after the T-Mobile firmware for Odin is released.
I did buy the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (46mm) in Silver Stainless because that's a HUGE upgrade over the Watch 3. Wear OS instead of Tizen! G-Pay on the watch!! YES! Now maybe I'll actually wear it!
512G Black Fold 3, Fold spen, aramid case, leather flip case, free 25W adapter for just under $850. Order confirmation anticipates a delivery for Mon, 8/16. That would be really cool if accurate.
Traded in my unlocked Fold2.
I also see a delivery date for one of the accessories ordered of Monday, 8/16, but the phone itseld still shows Aug 27.
EDIT: the accessory arrived today. No phone.
Black 512g and Black GW4. Can't wait. I am a little disappointed we didn't get the massive cameras like the s20 and 21u. Hopefully it wont feel too much of a downgrade.
In the UK Watch 3 can be traded in for £200 against price of the Watch 4 Classic 46mm, which a good deal as you can also claim £75 of Google Play voucher.
Ordered 512 gb black and Watch 4, traded in my 11 months old Fold 2 and Watch 3, bought the flip case with S pen, $1,335.08 out the door. I really wanted that larger storage, the phone is used for playing multimedia and I was running out of space. My Watch 3 is very laggy, tried everything but it's not smooth operation. I hope the new Watch 4 with different operating system will be snappier.
In gonna get a USB-C thumb drive and see how that works with it. Same use for my note 20, and issue with watch 3.
