AT&T's unlock code is UNSUCCESSFUL! help me please! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

hi, i'm new here. i don't know anything about phones. i just switched from AT&T to T-Mobile. i'm using a galaxy note 2 (at&t). with a t-mobile sim card. i got the unlock code from at&t and it is not working. it tells me the unlock network is "unsuccessful" and i've already tried it like 6 times. i'm only aloud 10 attempts. can someone please help me? i don't want to root or flash or whatever. i don't know how! i don't even know what that means.. please help!!

#1. Why did you try 6 times if it didn't work after the third time?
#2. Are you sure you have the correct code from THEM???
If it's not working then it seems that it's the incorrect code!
I would contact AT&T again, if that's where you got your code from!
Which would have been sent to you in an e-mail. Because I have done it myself, but not for this device...
#3. Before trying again MAKE sure you have the CORRECT code!!!

Well I tried like 3 times, then stopped. then I read you might have to wait 24 hours after receiving the code, so I tried again a couple more times after waiting a day. yes, I got the code emailed to me after filling out the request for online. I've called them multiple times, spoke to 2 tiers of technical support. got sent to a corporate store just to be turned away at the door because they can't unlock phones. so why was I sent there? Who knows. at&t is no help. I don't know what else to do. I already switched my number to tmobile. it's been over a week and I already got my first bill for a phone I can't even use. I've been without a phone for over a week. This is so irritating

OK if you really want to unlock it that bad there's a few things you can do.
But IT involves flashing your PHONE!

thank you for your help, but honestly that looks like a different language to me. i can not even begin to comprehend all that info. i'm sorry

you should have unlocked it before you switched to tmobile..
I'll give you credit for admitting you dont know the first thing about phones, and dont want to even try flashing anything..most people who know nothing about this flash anything and everything and totally ruin their phones..
Not sure what you can do about this; I would think to unlock an ATT phone, you need to have a ATT sim card in there..
Bajanman knows more about this than I do..

To use the unlock code, T-Mobile Sim is in the phone, boot it up, a menu asking for unlock code, type code, after a few seconds a message verifying network unlock replaces the code box. It's immediate, because the unlock code is stored in the phone.
You should verify the IEMI number under the battery -- that's what they need to retrieve the code from their database.
I vote for bad code or bad typing. Is there any way to backtrack your customer service efforts and get at&t to recheck their work?
I would

Unlock Client Rocks!

Hello. I have a samung galaxy s3 i747 which was locked to Telus. I had an issue unlocking it with other sites. However, I found Unlock Client and it worked like a charm. Use them, their software works.
I can vouch for them as well, unlocked my Bell i747 through them worked awesome.

If I lived in the US and was an AT&T customer then perhaps I could phone and ask for the code, but I'm not and I can't.
Why is it all these posts are started by people with like 1-10 posts? Employee of the company in question much?
If I could just have one recommendation for an unlocking service from a reputable member here I'd be thrilled.
I can see how you would assume the OP probably works for the company first post ever and join date of Aug 2012, but I can personally say I have used their service and it works. I usually lurk and read on XDA but you can take my word how ever you want
I checked your posts, it was nice to see they weren't just 11 posts all promoting Unlock Client at various device forums here
I may try them out when my red S3 finally arrives.
I called ATT to unlock my S3 and they obliged. The problem is the unlock sequence doesn't work for me giving me an MMI error.

You need another carrier's SIM card to prompt the unlock menu. The dial sequence is only for non-NA variants.

it depends on the CSR you get. after trying with 5 different live-chats, i finally got one who provided the code for my sister's 2-day-old SGS3 immediately without any questions.
I told them I'm traveling to Canada. That might have worked.
Got my Garnet Red AT&T S3 today (in New Zealand). Ended up going with mod edit:link removed.
I hate to have to say it, because I'm going to sound like one of the many shmucks who come here talking about unlock solutions in order to get $5 off the price, but the unlock code worked fine and only took about 10minutes to come through. Just to be clear, I'm not claiming the $5 off the price for making a post here, I just thought people wanting feedback from a user in good standing here at XDA would appreciate knowing this service is legit.
(lord knows I'd have loved to have seen one post from a user who was clearly trustworthy before I went through the process, no offence to the many helpful people who have confirmed various services before I did, it's just that tiny post-counts invite skepticism of planted posts)
I'll take the €5 then

Typically At&t won't give you a code until approx 6 months after the release of the device. In some instances it is sooner but not normally.

I just called AT&T to test this (I have no need to unlock personally), and after telling them I was going on an international vacation for a month, they gave me my unlock code within about 5 minutes. the difficult part was that I had to manually cut down a T-Mobile sim I had laying around, but a few snips of the scissors later my phone was unlocked for free.

Hi guys,
im new to this forum and so far im liking it... anyways back to the point; ill be going to Europe soon and my T-Mobile S3 not rooted, so im wondering if i take my phone overseas and put in a SIM card over there will it work or be blocked.

Why would you need more than one unlock code?
Does the phone re-lock after a while?
I'm kinda surprised with all the stuff that goes on here that SIM unlocking can't be done without calling t-mobile or buying from ebay.

Yes. Call Tmobile tech support and tell them you need to have it sim unlocked for use overseas. You have to be in good standing. They will ask for the iemi and an email address. Usually takes about 24 to 48 hours for them to find the code for your phone and email it and the directions on how to do it. Have had 2 phones sim unlocked in the last 5 years and it didn't cost me anything except to time it took to call tech support.

Hi, the T989 isn't included on the "supported" phones of that app, I unlocked a SGS2 with it, but it was an International version (GT-i9100)
So to be precise and brief, IT DOESN'T WORK ON T-989 (our phone) but DO WORK ON REGULAR SGS2 but need to be on stock ROM for it to work...After unlocking, you can flash any other ROM and the unlock will be preserved IF the folder that the app creates stays on the phone...
All this info is regarding the app posted on the Play Store link above^^^

We did the same for my wife's White SGS3. She really wanted the iphone 5 (tried to talk sense into her but it was of no use...die hard icrap user). So the deal was if she could sell the SGS3 for enough to get the iphone she could. She called, got the unlock code, went to tmobile and borrowed a micro-sim and finished the unlock. I then rooted it, installed SU and Busybox...then we sold it on ebay for almost $700. So now she has an iphone.
Just call ATT and get the code. If they start to give you trouble just tell them you'll be going out of country to Canada for a while as part of your job and want to take your phone and not the crappy business phone most of the time they'll just give it to you along with instructions. If not, call back in a few minutes and get someone different.

Got mine. After I entered it, it said network unlocked, reboot, and now I have got the LG security error. I just spent two weeks customising to my liking Oh well, since I started messing with my Galaxy S, I have gotten used to redoing things. Only problem is that I dont seem to have my Titanium backups on my PC anymore, must have moved instead of copied. That is the real suck. I didnt think this could happen from an unlock code, so I wasnt prepared when I entered it at work.
Sim unlocked my LG Optimus G! Lol procrastination but whatever!
