[NEED HELP] Note2 stock on bootscreen - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I am going crazy over my wife her Note2. Last night it suddenly rebooted itself and got stock on bootscreen. it was in the middle of the night and connected to the charger. I tried to restart, I tried pulling the battery out and then restart, I tried flashing stock rom. Nothing. I can't get into recovery, I can get in download mode but it won't flash anything. It says that it is missing PIT and odin gives a big red FAILED. But when I flash stock ROM with PIT file it won't flash, even after 3 hours nothing happened. What can I do?

It can't damage the PIT partition by itself.
I had the same missing PIT problem on my old Galaxy Player 5.0 because i entered a Motorola partition code in the Terminal Emulator (Don't ask why....LMAO)
Yeah i couldn't fix it and i got a replacement.
Maybe check the symptoms of an Insane chip, some Note 2's have a hardware issue, maybe the Insane chip became "Insane" ? lol

[Q] Ack, help! Bootloop of Death? eMMC problem?

Greetings,
I have an almost 3 year old stock SGH-T889 T-Mo Note II running Android 4.3. The other day I was trying to open facebook and the thing froze. When I tried to reboot, it went to the Sammy boot screen for about 40 minutes and then the T-mo 4G LTE screen where it stayed. I pulled the battery and tried to boot to recovery (Vol UP, HOME + POWER button hold) but it went to a Bugdroid screen with the "downloading do not turn off target" message as if I was using ODIN. I tried it a few times to no avail. I then tried to use ODIN to flash the stock ROM. It said I had no PIT partition. I found a PIT file and tried using ODIN to repartition but that failed as well (I used a few different versions of ODIN to test this out v1.85, .87, v3.07 etc. to see if there were any differences). Is this eMMC failure? Is there a solution to either hard wipe or revive the device short of a hardware fix? I had done the eMMC chip test last year per a friend's recommendation and it showed I did not have the insane chip. I was hoping my old trusty device would find a new home but at this point if I could just hard wipe the thing I'd be happy. I've tried searching for solutions but have had a hard time. Maybe I'm looking up the wrong thing? Any advice or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
Have you found a solution? I have the exact same problem after going strong with the note 2 for more than 2 years.
Same issue here
I recently ran into the same issues - no PIT partition, but I can still get to the downloading screen.
At this point, I'm assuming my EMEC chip needs replacing... I guess I'll just get a new, cheap phone.

[Q] Stock S3 stuck on boot cycle, can't access recovery mode, and odin fails

Hi a few days ago my phone was restarted and it got stuck on the samsung galaxy s3 screen. It is a t-mobile sgh-t999 model. It will boot into download mode but not recovery. After trying Kies to no result. I have deleted it from my pc and attempted to recover by flashing the stock rom using odin. I've tried that many times and always fails as well.
I have reinstalled s3 drivers. Made sure Kies is completely gone. I have downloaded the stock rom and three versions of Odin 3.04 3.07 and 3.09 and I get the same results. A write failure. Does anyone have any ideas how to proceed?
One observation I've noticed is that the bar underneath the Android in Download mode never appears. Which leads me to think that it never starts the process of taking the firmware.
Any ideas what to do next?
What is the error message?
Having same trouble

Hi Serio22
NAND Write Start!!
FAIL!
Complete(write) operation failed.
Same exact issue on my sgh-t999
This morning it restarted itself (plugged into charger all night) and stuck at Samsung Galaxy SIII on screen. Recovery doesn't work and it will go into download mode. I am downloading the stock firmware from (sammobile firmwares SGH-T999) and will try installing with Odin tomorrow.
I will likely fail like you guys. I have taken such good care of the phone, never drop it, not a scratch on the screen...and this randomly happens in the middle of the night.
Please update!
Same exact issue on my SGH-T999 which makes me wonder that this is some software update issue that has possibly impacted many phones at this time.
In my case, it also restarted by itself this morning and got stuck at Samsung Galaxy SIII on screen. I started from figuring out if it was a hardware issue but the phone seems OK physically (i.e. the power button is not stuck, etc.). Recovery doesn't work and it will go into download mode like indicated by others above. I tried downloading the stock firmware SGH-T999 from Sammobile (actually a couple of different versions and tried installing via Odin 3.-07 many times but always failed with the error message above or
<ID:0/008> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/008> Complete(Write) operation failed.
I also tried installing non-stock recovery files (TWRP, trying CWM at the moment) and that worked but without success in changing anything in the initial issue.
Sounds like they are sending bad firmware bricking our phones over night. Sorry I've found no solution yet.

Just an observation. I too was only getting the
"Complete (Write) operation failed." message at first.
After trying to flash the stock rom via Odin multiple times, I now get
"NAND Write Start!!"
"FAIL!"
Hope I didn't make it worse.

SGH -t999 Pit File
Does anyone have any idea if flashing the stock rom with the T999 pit file in Odin possibly fix this problem? I've been reading about it, but can't really determine if this is the next step to troubleshoot this problem.
Write start and immediate fail in my case as well.
Keep looking into this and updating thread. I already ordered a new phone because of this but will want to fix this phone to sell it if not just sell the new one and stick with this longer...
I tried updating to the newest version of ROM using Kies but that did not work, either. Sometimes the phone cannot be recognized by Windows and sometimes Kies says it is "connecting" with the phone. When I tried updating, Kies did not see the phone, so maybe it had a negative impact on the download. I am going to uninstall the drivers and install them again just before connecting the phone to Kies and try updating again. This stuff is really time consuming.
I could not find a good CWM recovery file to flash via Odin so I did not try that. The interesting thing is that successfully flashing TWRP recovery file did not do anything - I still cannot get into recovery mode. Then I tried flashing stock recovery file again - and got the FAIL! message from Odin.
I've seen other threads talking about this issue, but don't remember if it was ever fixed. Have you guys tried different cables or computers?
I've tried a different cable (non-stock) but that did not help at all. I can try a different computer and will report here.
No update on fixing the phone...I tried everything I could on my end really. I think I will have to look at sending it in to Samsung?
I bought a used S5 on ebay. Much faster and nicer...liking it quite a bit. Samsungs update to break my phone and buy a newer Samsung worked I guess.
Daughter's SIII crashed also, her phone was bootlooping. Since her volume button doesn't work, I used a jig to put into D/L mode. Flashed T999LUVUBOH1_T999LTMBBOH1_T999LUVUBOH1_HOME.tar.md5 from Sammobile and ODIN said it passed. The phone will not go passed the "T-Mobile 4G LTE" screen. I've tried several times, always passes, always gets stuck.
Daughter doesn't mind, she's been using the Note II that I didn't want to part with after getting myself the Note 5
When flashing the stock rom with Odin, do not check anything except f.reset time. After flashing, and seeing the word reset in the status window, remove USB cable, remove battery, replace battery, boot into recovery, assuming the volume up me home button work, no perform a factory wipe.
The volume up and down button don't work?

Help me please, I think my phone is toast

My phone was working fine today until I took it out of my pocket and it was stuck at the Tmobile Note 2 screen. I tried multiple times to restart it and no go. Tried to go into my TWRP recovery and it appears there is no recovery.
I tried Odin tonight with the rooted stock file on here and keep getting no pit mapping. I tried with a pit file I found and it just gets stuck. From what I'm reading through google, it appears to maybe be a hardware problem. Does anyone have anything I can try? Phone was running Octos Rom with no problem for months.

See if you can Odin just a recovery image and then try to boot to recovery. I think I have a few different recovery .tar files for T889 if you can't find online. You may also want to try a different cable if you continue to get errors connecting.

I actually did try that, tried stock recovery and TWRP, both say no pit for mapping. using the tar from sammobile I did get it to start downloading one time, it went for like 45 minutes and then finally said failed at probably 3/4 along based on the bar graph that was showing on the phone. That worked after I switched USB ports on the computer although I think that was just a fluke as I tried again after it failed and kept getting the same message of no pit for mapping.

How old is your battery? This may sound crazy, but I thought my phone was toast several months ago but when I changed to a backup battery that I had all was fine. Also, try restarting your computer after you change USB ports. It may help to get Odin working properly. I have a copy of a CWM recovery that's worked for me to get me out of some similar issues. You can download it from my Dropbox here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/qx45bapmroh8k0b/Note2-CWM-6.0.4.3-SGH-T889.tar?dl=0
Hope that works. Good luck!

N7100 not booting

Symptoms: Over a period of weeks, possibly months, the phone started rebooting itself more and more frequently. Now I have reached the point where my phone bootloops, often at the Note II logo, sometimes it goes on and gets stuck on the ROM's logo for ages then bootloops again. Occasionally after an age (hours) and if I am lucky the ROM may load up but then it soon starts bootlooping again. I also noticed that one time there was some graphical distortion on the ROM's animated logo. TWRP Recovery and Download Mode both work perfectly fine.
What I have done Wiped everything, reinstalled the ROM through recovery which achieved nothing. I then tried a fresh install of the stock ROM with ODIN (update bootloader ticked). Although the ODIN install went fine, I still have exactly the same problem.
What should be my next step? Repartion with PIT?
Well I went ahead and re-partitioned with a PIT file, still no luck. I guess this must be a hardware issue.

You have what is known as Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS). In short the eMMC chip has failed. It or the motherboard needs to be replaced.
Flashing PIT will not help
Sorry about that
Check battery , update phone software .go to a repair centre , u may fry it like me .

Hard-bricked Note 2 (N7100) but flashable by ODIN

Hello,
I know that this issue had been posted again and again here recently and I've just read a lot of these threads but none of them reached to a solution that suits me, not to mention the difference in details between my case and others. I've experienced soft-bricks before but this is my first time to experience hard-brick. I've used this phone for 3 years (since 2012) and I don't want to lose it now.
TL;DR: The phone is stuck on Bootloader screen "Galaxy Note II", but Odin is able to flash Stock ROMs with PIT and repartition option ticked with no issues (NAND RW). TWRP recovery can be flashed and opened but sees the Internal Storage size as (0 MB) and cannot mount any partition.
That happened 5 months ago, my Note 2 was running Ivan Miller's CM 12.1 and updated to the last version without any issues, and I was charging my phone that day, then unplugged it and got out of home then discovered that my phone is dead.
When I got back home, I tried to charge it again but nothing happened. The lid didn't turn on, and the device didn't give me the charging screen. I tried to turn it on a few times with no avail.
Then I got to a Repair center which told me that the phone needs a new motherboard, which costs practically a new one's price. So I threw it in a drawer and bought a used phone instead.
2 weeks ago, I got my phone back from the drawer and went to another repair center, where they revived the phone again and told me it's a (harddisk issue) which should be replaced with a new one (which costs here in Egypt, a lot of money). But I was happy that the phone is back again and can be turned on, and I had a renewed hope that I can fix it again!
When I got back home, I fired up hiemdall (because I had no access to Windows at that time), downloaded the last stock version from SamMobile, and flashed it on the phone, but it was stuck on the "Galaxy Note II bootloader screen". I flashed TWRP and I could boot to the recovery but it sees the Internal Storage size as (0 MB). When I tried to wipe anything, I got errors in mounting the partitions (this is the only place I can see the logs since TWRP boot).
I followed the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2154890 but with a PIT file from a different thread because the last versions of Stock ROMs have no PIT file inside them and the recovery ROM in the Guide points to HotFile website which had been suspended. (First I used Heimdall to repartition and use the PIT, but it couldn't write the PIT partition, then I used Windows with Odin 3.10.7 and it didn't give me any errors).
I flashed the stock ROMS without and with PIT file for repartition but no avail. The phone is stuck on bootloader screen "Galaxy Note II". I don't want to lose hope and give up for purchasing new eMMc chip because I believe the NAND is still able to read and write unlike other cases that I've read here in different threads where they couldn't repartition the phone because Odin couldn't NAND RW or something like that.
Do you have any pointers that can help me solving this issue?
Sorry for the long post.
