There is already official Kitkat out for the GS4... The i9505G IS a GS4 and it DOES have officially released KitKat...

That's leaked firmware. It's not official

People like having the latest software. Most people I've seen here are flashaholics so they yearn for updates.

Smh, just because it looks similar doesn't mean it's the same.. That's the least of my concerns, you can always theme it.. There's definitely differences between jb and kitkat

Does anyone know if this phone is planned to be supported officially by the cyanogenmod project?

Probably not due to the s pen. This would be one of the first phones that I feel cyanogenmod would actually be a step back from stock. If you want that look, run Nova Launcher and keep the s pen functionality.

I wouldn't say it's complete, but I think he was talking about "official", not ports.

Korean firmware leaked. Works on our phone too.

Here is the Korean firmware. We can probably kang something useful. Don't attempt to flash. It isn't made for Sprint phones and you will turn your phone into a paper weight or an iPhone.
http://blog.seabow.pe.kr/?p=3149
If you flash the F180L version you can boot and use the phone. Your radios won't work though. You will still have WiFi. Any devs who feel generous might be able to port this.

I'm assuming with that we are closer to getting jellybean sometime in quarter 1?

Updated the title, turns out this firmware works on our phone. It boots. WiFi is a go. Just no data or phone since it is set to the wrong frequency.

That's awesome! So JB could be here soon?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk 2
I used google translate and yes that is a jellybean update. Hope starting the new year we could have jb on our phones. Too bad that it is not the new jeallybean update 4.2
I really miss it from my Galaxy Nexus, the UI is amazing. Of course with tweaks but hopefully this one gets it as well.
Sounds like it should be fairly easy to make a fully functional flashable zip then? I'll donate

A stock JB would be nice. I was used to having the 4.2
I downgraded when I bought the Optimus. I do like this one over the Galaxy Nexus though.

When will we get a new update?

I have 4.1.1 when will there be a 4.2 for the i747m an official one?

There will be one when Samsung ports it to the i747/i747M -- that is, only if Sammy is willing to --, and when the carrier have put all their bloatwares in it. In other words: when it's ready.
In the meantime, there are a lot on ROMs here based on 4.2 AOSP.

You are wise in your noobness young padawan.
But he's right, the chances that we ever see 4.2 on our sgs3 are slim to none. The sgs4 will probably have it. I have seen the 4.2 features on the sgs3 though but it's the i9300 version (international). And the big phone companies all wanna put their bloatware in it blah blah blah... you know the spiel.
Try slim ROM 4.2.2 superb battery life..

I like ALL the AOSP/AOKP/CM/PARA ROM's .. however, until one of them figures out how to incorporate a 4G/LTE icon into there builds .. I don't touch them .. I don't want just H, H+ or 4G .. give us one with 4G LTE or even LTE by itself.
I'm a picky little bastar* .. LOL

Those icons mean nothing. I can give you a rom that says 10G. IT is all about the speed your getting.
I have to wonder why op would think we'd know when/if we'll get anther official update...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
TBH, by the time we get 4.2 upgrade for SIII (which possible), SIII will probably be "outdated"
so fastest way to get it is to root your phone... and AOSP > TouchWiz.
I think we'll eventually get an official 4.2 but it will be a long while. If you're not willing to learn how to put custom ROMs on your device, then suggest just stick to 4.1.1 that you have now.

Wait - we have that already, right? I mean from the page I saw, I already have all of those features in my N2. So no need for an update then? Or is it an enhancement?

I won't be holding my breath for it, but it sounds like Samsung may actually get it out in March or April, assuming testing goes well. Of course, anybody in the US with a carrier branded phone will still be waiting forever for the carriers to finish bloating and breaking it and release their updates. Hell, T-Mobile didn't even release the 4.3 update for their latest version of the S3 (S3 LTE-T999L) until December.
But hey, anything's possible.
Yes, but it wasnt scheduled until nov 25th anyway, so actually I think it was pretty quick. But I'm surprised if the s3 gets kit kat at all, but I truly hope so!
