Hi, just a quick question.
Firstly, my extreme paranoia is the main reason I've posted this question. I have a Samsung I9190 Galaxy S4 mini, and I followed the rooting procedure by Arco: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398143 and at step 7, I wasn't fast enough to press the buttons and the phone started up to the homescreen, so I switched the phone off and went into recovery mode (Volume up + Home + Power buttons) and carried on with the steps from there. Everything seems to have worked and my phone is now rooted and working fine, but as I said, I'm very paranoid :silly: so I just want to know if I need to worry about not doing step 7 properly, since it seems to be an important step. This is the first time I've rooted a phone btw.
Thanks!

You dont need to worry. Everything is ok
the rooting process worked,it means your phone r successfully installed the su binary and the superuser management app.installing this two little thing did not cause any problem, even if u removem

hello. im buying a desire tomorrow and i have some doubts.
can you give a link with some guide to install some new rom into desire?my previous phone was a samsung i8910 and almost every week i was instaling cooked roms but in android the process seems a lot different. i've seen some cool roms but i dont want to screw up the phone. i'm running windows 7 64bits. hope that's not an issue. thanks in advance
Follow this instruction to root and flash custom roms:
http://android.modaco.com/content/ht...-1-21-support/
In the beginning of that process you need to make a gold card, instruction can be found here
http://android.modaco.com/content/ge...ng-a-goldcard/
After everything is done, you should be able to flash whatever (compatible) rom you want. My recommendation is this
http://android.modaco.com/content/ht...nline-kitchen/
However, you must take note that there's some random USB bricking going on when flashing roms now.
You might want to have a look at this thread here.
Personally, I feel that flashing with Linux is more stable than using Windows.
I started rooting with Windows 7 and some problem occur halfway through the process.
I rebooted my pc to Ubuntu and continue the rooting process and everything went well.
I did everything on my desktop with 64-bit Windows 7 without any problem.

Hi there I’m even scared to write…
Newbie Noobie here. Greetings!
Got myself a birthday present a few days ago – HTC Desire.
If it helps, here are the details:
======
Firmware version: 2.2
i rooted my phone and then followed the steps to install custom rom
Anyway, here’s my problem (there were posts about it before as well).
Once I reach point 5 in Step 2 [i.e. Turn off your phone & turn it back on holding POWER + VOL DOWN then use vol up/down to scroll down to ‘Recovery‘ and power to select.] after I click ‘Recovery’ my screen either stays white with the green HTC logo or just goes black – in either case, that’s it… nothing happens and no buttons work.
The first time it happened I almost got a heart attack (well, which noobie didn’t?) because I thought I’d just bricked my baby… Right now it is still the only way for me to do ANYthing after getting the black screen…
Any suggestions/help will be more than welcome! Thanks in advance!!!
(And sorry for the long post… I always need long intros and all the details listed to make myself as clear as possible)
Please do help me
i am nearly crying while typing it
email me the response
cheers

phone info pls
what did you use to root your phone? unrevoked?
you probably have a bad recovery flash, redownload unrevoked and start over again.
(were you able to access recovery before?)
btw it would help if you opened a new thread instead of hijacking this one
regarding to OP
* you must not forget to install all neccessary drivers
i. download & install htc sync
ii. download android phone driver
* I'm using win7 x64 and rooted my phone with no problems (pretty fresh install though...)
* you wouldn't need a goldcard if your phone is not branded by your carrier.
hope this helps

Okay so I rooted the GT-S7560 or the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 X using the Duos method mentioned in this thread. This phone is showing up everywhere in Canada right now through the usual channels and I wanted to clarify the process a bit for others who stumble upon this thread. I have attached a zip file containing the files I used and a word doc with instructions. It's the same as the Galaxy Duos except for entering recovery I could not figure out the button configuration to do it so I used ADB and sent the reboot recovery command. I later learned the vol button is a rocker and to press the center of the vol button the power and home all at the same time to enter recovery.
I seek no credit, just trying to make it easier for the next.
I have tested root on a couple of apps and everything seems to working great with no issues.

I have the same phone, and rooted using this process last night. Quick and easy with full step by step instructions..
All, I did watch the guide and I did spend nigh-on 3 hours, no exaggeration, trying to find my solution.
But it looks like I've really messed up big time!!!!
Idiot that I am, I had everything running perfectly before, however I have become far to over confident and i think i have bricked my device!! I flashed this thinking it was rom that was stable (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2561064)
Unfortunately its left my device unable to turn off & will only will restart showing the Samsung logo. I installed previously a custom recovery & cannot access it. I also cannot access download mode.
When you stop laughing at me can you please advise my wisest course of action? Stupid thing is I can flash and mess around with my GNex until the cows come home, but this has me flummoxed and greatly worried.
I look forward to any reply's.

As previously said, cwm or odin are the only ways you can do to revert to stock because you flashed a test cm rom. Did you try to charge your tab maybe you have lowbattery. Or maybe one of your volume keys and home button are broken.

don't blame my rom lol. Hold volume down , home button and power at the same time for like 20 secs then it will be in download mode. I have soft bricked it over 50 times. same for recovery you have to hold , vol up , home , and power until tab reboots to tab 3 logo then keep holding it for like 3 secs then let go it will go into recovery.
Thanks for all the prompt comments, yep panic over I managed to get into download mode & re-flashed the standard rom.

Hello XDA.. my first time rooting and I think i bricked my new Galaxy Tab S 8.4
I followed the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/root-cf-autoroot-t700-t2805366
I booted my tab S into download mode, clicked volume up, then clicked AP on Odin 3.09 and chose the "CF_AutoRoot_Port_T700_BeansTown106.tar" file. The tab then went into ODIN MODE and says "Downloading... Do not turn off target !!"
I then clicked Start on Odin and it said something along the lines All threads complete.
But after 15 minutes my Tab is still in the exact same screen as described after clicking volume up. Now I have deplugged the USB cable and the Tab is frozen in this screen. I've tried a lot of combinations to try and restart my Tab but nothing works...
combinations I tried: volume up + power + home / volume up + power / power / volume down + power + home / volume down + power (all for around 15~30 seconds)
I'm quite sad, I don't know what I did wrong, the steps were quite unclear in the guide since it assumes everyone to be an expert in rooting, and if rooting is supposed to be this difficult, then I will stay away from rooting if I can ever fix my Tab.
Does anyone know how to save my Tab?
edit: here's a pic of my tab: http://imgur.com/fZtvUXV

There are perhaps 2-3 hidden steps in that guide that the author doesn't tell you about.
1: Don't have you device plugged until Odin is loaded with the file
2: Confirm that Odin has detected your Tab after plugging it in
3: ONLY click start on Odin after it has detected your Tab with that light-blue/yellow box
Those 3 steps are already "assumed" that users know, and in my case, I clicked start before Odin detected my Tab. My PC didn't detect my Tab because the driver that detects Galaxy Tab S wasn't installed (yet I could access my Galaxy Tab S with that same PC). Perhaps when rooting, the PC uses a driver different from the default USB driver that lets you explore files.
So my device was frozen for nearly an hour and when I tried pressed the power + volume down button TOGETHER (not power + volume down, but TOGETHER at the SAME time), it rebooted.
Nothing was wrong with my device, just lack of understanding of how rooting is supposed to go. The guides here are too advanced and I understand why a lot of my colleagues refuses to root... there's a lot of "you should already know how to do this" etc when i read over this thread for the 10.5 root guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/root-cf-autoroot-t800-t2802916
That's why I asked for a video tutorial for us newbs. So we can see exactly how it should be done. ?

i searched google after i thought i had bricked my tab, and here is a guide that the author should had included:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2661198
the steps for rooting the tab S is the same as the full guide in the link, but just click AP instead of PDA. That's how I managed to root it.

those steps appears to be universal for rooting.
and in Beantown's guide, the title of it says ROOT INSTRUCTIONS. Let me paste it for you.
Rooting Instructions
1.Boot into Download mode (see methods above)
2.Flash CF_AutoRoot_Port_T800_BeansTown106.tar.md5 with Odin v3.09 (put in AP slot, don't change any other settings, click start)
3.Let it do its trick! Confirm root!
4.Reboot into recovery mode and confirm stock recoverys presence
That's all! Enjoy Root!
Do you see the part where it says "That's all!"? That tells every reader of that thread, that his rooting instructions is "all there is to know".
Bean is awesome at what he does with root & roms. But giving instructions is absolutely not his forte... Lol.
My point was he/she could've hardly done a video on a device he didn't own. Generally videos include both the boot into recovery (which you need the device to demonstrate), and walking thru odin.
No doubt the underlying assumption to the flashing posts were, if you got to this device, you've rooted at least one device prior to this. Prior experience is taken for granted.
Glad you got your device going The next will be easier!
This is probably dumb to even post but tried rooting my phone with cf-auto-root SM 928 T running 5.1 1 downloaded the correct on is the correct version for cf-auto-root notice it wouldn't identify my phone on the Odin screen.. Anyway after numerous attempts I was bummed because it kept bootlooping :/ now I'm stuck with a beautiful shiny paperweight. It won't do anything! I don't care if you hold the volume up volume down power button menu button same time I have tried everything I found on here and Android authority. There's not a single light that shines on this beauty that shows me that it was working ever!! I have the phone backed up on my computer with Smart Switch but.. don't know. Anyway, hope everyone has a good New Years

Here is the step by step instructions on how to get your phone working properly again.
This link also has download links for everything you need to flash:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...rmware-g928t-complete-untouched-boh6-t3198387
By the way there is NO cf-autoroot which is compatible with our phones. You need to flash a rooting kernel
which can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...ernel-stock-modified-kernel-touchwiz-t3229557
Before you can use the rooting kernel you need to follow the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...rmware-g928t-complete-untouched-boh6-t3198387
Good luck,
Have a Happy New Years.
Thanks Mr junkie actually plugged it into the car charger and got a spark out of it put it in safe mode it started charging turn it off turn it back on and now I have a rooted device! Very happy with this how I can send back the note 5 I've been holding out from T Mobile on my jump program for 2 months lol sure came in handy today have a great New Years.
Check root checker said it was rooted then immediately went into boot loop oMG been working on it for the last 11 hours with a computer that just does not want to load the files you have told the community to download when in trouble. Anyway factory reset my computer Lenovo yoga pro 3 going to give another go at it can't really have such a beautiful phone only used as a paperweight :/ my galaxy 4 s5 and Nexus 6 rooted with a breeze still not giving up though obviously. I'll keep you posted thanks for all your help though I know I'm going in the right direction with your help.
CF Auto root is the Bomb! 928t variant good to go!!
