Hi All
If This Post Is In The Wrong Section Then Mods Please Move It
Im Fairly New To The Hero Scene Having Updating From A G1 Not Too Long, so i have no idea how the hero works too well
I noticed from one of the Dev's twitters (Benhaam) That the Xperia X10's Source Code Has Gone Public, And As Someone who loves to try all the different flavours of Android, I Wondered If Anyone Can Or Is Developing An Hero Xperia Rom... I Understand If Anyone Has Any Criticism With This Post, But Just Remember Im Fairly New To The Hero Scene
Would Love To Post A Link To This However I Am A Newish Member and still arent allowed to post links
I would love to try out an Xperia X10 rom, i know that someone over on the HTC magic forums had a port but it was removed as the developer didnt want to spend anymore time on it.
Once Again Sorry If this is in the wrong section..
I know what you mean its cool trying out all the different UI's available.
I'm sure someone probably will attempt to, but as far as I know its still running on android 1.6 so it drops the motivation slightly. My other concern would be that from all the reviews the UI (rachel) runs like dog on the x10 and thats got a snapdragon running the show so I'm not sure how well the hero would cope.
But saying the it seems hold its own pretty well with the latest 2.1 roms..

actually Nathan (villain vanillain roms) will most likely be porting a samsung rom at least it's another UI!

Yeah I Use Villain Rom Myself As My Main Rom And Have Read His Blog With Him Mentioning The Samsung UI, looking forward to that
I'd be quite surprised if the source code that Sony Ericsson have released is much more than the kernel source that they are required to release under the GPL. i.e. nothing to do with "Rachel".
At some point over the weekend, I may download it and take a quick look.
Regards,
Dave
This forum seems kinda dead now...once the Ion came out this forum thrived for a bit. Sadly no roms or themes
We have CM9 though, which is good news. Though sadly only a handful of us here can actually install it.

I would delete this post...i made a similar thread about 3 days ago... and people raged so hard. It was slightly funny, but i guess i really hurt someones feelings
so please remove or you will face the wrath of online anger...
Why? Its just disappointing to see that a phone with great potential have rarely any development. I understand that we do have devs here (thanks to all for CWM and other mods and such) but its still disappointing.
I'm hoping that when the Xperia T comes out in more regions that Sony will let us unlock the bootloader (though I'm not holding my breath). Once unlocked I'm pretty sure that things will pick up a lot. Kind of sucks that such a good phone is happered by something so stupid.

Yeah, once we are able to unlock our bootloaders things should definitely pick up. Hope that MIUI develops for the LT28 soon aswell. This lack of customization is killing me.
I guess that's what you guys get for being early adopters and hoping a dev community will spring up. If you want a phone for custom roms and other things you should wait till you are sure there will be developers for the device.
Complaining that there isn't dev for a device you already bought knowing at the time there was not much development is pretty dumb if you ask me.
I for one get a device because I like it as it is. If there is further development for the device after I get it great but that's just a bonus.
Just like buying a phone in hopes of an update is not a wise decision, buying a device hoping their will be development isn't any better.
You also have to remember the.ion wasn't a flagship device or one that was pushed very hard so there would obviously be less interest for the major developers to work on it.

I like the phone aswell, but coming for an Arc with an unlocked bootloader i just miss the customization you know? We can only hope that the ion will get dev attention eventually.

Thing to remember also is the ion is very much the same as the Xperia S with a few small differences so mods for the S shouldn't be too hard to convert to the ion.

Well said - you know what you got - it's your decision buying/sign contract for. So what's there to whine about. Xda is a plus IMO.

Also rather than complain you cam take actionand learn yourself. Android is one of the most open source project since html. There are lots of resources available to learn and I know this because I for one have noticed the lack of developments so I decided to learn.
Also begging for development doesn't help the cause. If you would like resources to learn start with developing simple apps and expand.

If i knew how to develop miui that'd be great...thats all im really hoping for
EDIT: Is there any big differences between the ion and the acro s? Cobrato's just released a method to convert xperia s roms to work with the acro s. Heres the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914328
EDIT2: Nevermind, doesnt work. Possibly we could figure a method to exploit his conversion to work with our ion?

But without CM9/10, you cannot port Miui.
Now, that Cm9 is out for ION, we can try and port it.
I will give it a try.
Proudly announce that there's a Vietnamese person has released an Rom Cooked name X-Ion Kudo v1 on local forum. Let's search and try
Just checked it out, nothing special. Just a stock rom with various tweaks that i could do myself. I'm really hoping for MIUI to develop for the ion
I have already tried porting MIUI. But I could not go beyond the MIUI Logo.
Since I am on CM9, it is easier for me to keep testing. Hope to get it right soon.:fingers-crossed:

I think one reason why this phone is lacking devs is that there are too meany of these xperia phones out that are all pretty much the same and with the prices being the same as well. I bought my wife the lt28h due to it having support for what t-mobile calls "4g". With these devices dev will come easier from ports of other similar phones. It is only a matter of time. We the owners of these ION phones have but only three choices 1. Learn to dev 2. sell phone buy one with heavy dev teams 3. Wait for developments. I for one would be happiest with a fully working ics/miui or a ics/ASOP. But I am pretty happy with just the stock rom for now.
We have now CM9, CM 10 and MIUI. Not so bad for a phone that has a locked bootloader in the U.S. and has begun selling in Europe at the same time as the Xperia T.
According to this, aokp Jelly Bean is on the way for unlocked bootloader.

Really, petitions? Unlock bootloader and flash customROMS with kitkat and you're good to go. If you don't want, shut up with the petitions non-sense, xda is not a place for signing petitions or to even spread about it, makes the community stupid. Don't you think?
I guess this is useless. Xperia M has sony support till November so we can except something. There were also some rumors that after M2 update sony can release kitkat for M.
Sent from my C1904 using Tapatalk
KitKat update for M2 is on the way, accordig to some googleing SP also may get 4.4.2 but M is not on the list, tho i found something that KitKat for M might be in testing, or at least in consideration. I really hope well get some kind of update, at least for app2sd, as M2 will recieve support for it with KitKat update. That was officially announced by Sony...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is a difference between official Sony(the company) and some very active people running a site called Xperia Blog which keeps people up to date with Sony developments.
These guys/gals at Xperia Blog have their finger on the pulse of Sony, but don't believe they speak for Sony.
Sony has, just announced(updated support pages to reflect) that phones like the Xperia T TX and V will have Android 4.3 as their final Sony release.
The Xperia M is still in it's 18month(more of a guideline than a rule ) support honeymoon period, with time on it's side for future developments.
Fingers crossed.

Exactly! sony has not said no
but they didnt say and straight yes either. so all about KK on XM is a hearsay for now i'm affraid
In my opinion a petition against sony or any oem for releasing a new software (hotfixes and such excluded) is useless, because they need to develop it and their programmers want to get paid. If they want to release it, ill be happy, when not, ill still be happy, because it will be still useable (i still use 4.1 and im happy with it)

don't think this works yet hoping so signed :good: it. And yeah we can unlock bt and install kitkat roms but we can't make it work exactly like Sony original release with Sony skin and apps.
there is no reason for not signing this petition, come on everyone!

Just updated Update Center.
Only for xperia apps update or maybe Kitkat possibility :what:
I'm not really okay with this. You can't rush something while it's in development, or else it will result in bad quality. Perfection requires time. It's the same thing how developers hate being asked for ETAs for their ROMs. It's not an easy thing to do and it would be better if we would just wait.
But it wouldn't hurt signing this petition...
I would rather see 4.4.4 than 4.4
Xperia M updated mooted soon...maybe.
I was about to grumble about the lack of Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy (BLE) support and reading through the posts I came across the following Sony forum post.
This would indicate a forth coming update if the post is taken at face value....and maybe BLE too. :victory:
These comments/post should always be taken with a pinch of salt, but the BLE issue has been known for a few months and Sony did say(as posted) they'd investigate... plus a lot of forum poster have really strong armed Sony(bless them) on this.
Does Xperia M support Bluetooth BLE?
So, maybe affirmative action and software upgrades are no more than a well documented problem away.
More than likely not Android 4.4, but nice to know we are still on Sony's radar and that they're thinking of us.
Hey all,
Before everybody tells me to go code it myself : I am not a coder. I'm an enthousiast which apreciates good tech and good roms.
Appart Gohma which isn't really alive since his dev goes through personal stuff, there isn't a tru custom rom on the Moto 360 (and it seems too be android-wear wide).
I know a cable has to be made. But it isn't a moonflight...
So my question / discussion topic proposition is : Why? Is there nothing to tweak ? Is it just that Wear needs to mature a bit ?
I remember in the (not so) old days, (HTC Desire) when roms offered new ways of using the phone, new perspectives or designs.
Now Android got so good, you can tweak and add stuff, but you don't really change it anymore. Why isn't it the same with wear ?
Hope to see an intelligent discussion arrise
Have a nice day.
I just got this watch yesterday paid 99$ for it couldn't ask for better price, but seriously why do you need custom roms for it? it's just a watch. It is not supposed to replace your smartphone but make your life litte easier at times
that's how I see it.

Wow, that's a steal.
It just nice too have something more unique, better performance, better battery, less bugs...
An integrated app drawer things like that...
Not a whole new thing, just perfecting things and adding what Google forgot.
Shouldn't we be happy it works... I mean this by no means supposed to be a hackable item it's an accessory at best. Flash your phone and Google is bring more features to the device which ten years ago a product being updated like this would have been updated once if that.... via usb.... so wait for the 5.1 update

It'll take a while before more creative minds discover what we can do with these watches

On android, most developers don't write all the mods you see, they pull them from popular repos like Omni, AOSPA, and Slim, which most of those derive originally from CM.
Android wear has no popular custom rom base created yet. So no one can just Kang stuff and release, all mods made for wear are written by the developer.
It works, but not always as good as could be i.e , while on the charge the backlights gets on random times or stuff like that...
A rather good point about original content, but even just fixing what is existing (like gohma) is partially non-existing.
I just hope that when Motorola spots updating the watch some people might get on board to maintain this piece of art.
I know this sounds dumb, as I could try to do it myself, but I just am not good at this.
It would have been alot easier if the Moto 360 just had a normal micro usb or any other connection other than making one yourself. If someone could mass produce the cable I think the user base that would want a custom ROM/kernel would increase by ALOT.

Apparently you're a junior around and don't know much about this 32/64 bit thingy.
The answer is no, no one is able to do anything about it, the 64 bit will never happen.
The kernel is 32 bit locked. Why? Ask Samsung.
And did you read and understand this sentence from AndreiLux ?
"You can't simply make a 64bit kernel because it won't work due to the hypervisor and AArch64-specific exception models. The whole lower level bootloaders need to be adapted, and that's not possible."
Another answer is - how on earth do you think is Samsung seeing the Note 4 from the ROI (return of investment) and sales and marketing poin of view?
When every manufacturer is consumption oriented?

Hello yes I'm new and no I'm not saying Samsung should just go out and make a 64 bit kernel. I always thought that people make custom ROMs because they love their phone not for just a temporary solution before you get a new phone (I know ROMs like linage and RR are made for many devices not one). Thanks for the explanation.

Well, most of the times people make custom ROMs out of passion and a thrilling sensation of sharing knowledge. Most users of these custom ROMs are the beneficiaries of a temporary solution before getting a new phone. Some love their phone which is still good and has features which newer phones don't have. And other reasons. We shouldn't generalize.
Somehow this activity became less and less possible. Locked bootloaders are the more popular. Consumerism is the daily driver and this affects the existence of custom ROMs.
It's sad to see android devices of 1-2000$ getting only 2 major updates. And then you need to invest again in a new device.
