Should i be updating my note 2 to android 4.3 or i should be rooting and flash other rom.
It's up to you what you gonna do with your phone. Nobody should tell you what to do, only samsung do it. If you update there is way of going back. So decide what you do. Flashing is dangerous and some custom roms don't work without bugs , but for every thing is solution. If you feel that you gonna read much and check all the steps before flashing then you could go this way.
If you want your phone to give you no job at all then stay oficial. Well 4.3 has nothing to offer....

I rooted many phones in my life, I never had problems rooting a phone like this peace of ****!! does any one out there give a much easier link to root this crap?? Im currently on the latest version ics , or is there a way to revert back to GB like most HTC phones do?
Follow the stickied unbricking guide to get back to GB. If you want to return to official ICS use the CWM flashable version.
...and was there really a need for the swearing?
Rooting a phone with a locked bootloader isn't stuff to any n00b. It requires following huge tutorials or aknowlege to do it on their own.
This isn't a samsung galaxy for example.

There is a stickies in this forum that are fine.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529058
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26328017&postcount=123 <-- that is in a different sticky (less in depth instructions). Although with that you probably should download a more up to date recovery, but it would get you root with the old recovery.
That said...I recommend letting your friend do the work. That way he/she can learn, and if there is a problem, he/she can possibly fix it. Rather than being stuck without a device until you can get around to potentially fixing it. Especially if you plan on flashing custom ROMs and kernels.
Long story short, I haven't flashed a ROM since june.
I know at one point you needed an ODIN patch to flash along with the new radio for most ROMs. Is that still the case?
What are the more stable options right now?
Thank you for any help.

Depending on what your running you would need newest recovery and newest radio. About the most stable ROM you would have to test them out yourself
This ^^^^^
Its all taste and what's important to you. So certain bugs are deal breakers for some and completely irrelevant to others.
So, read the rom threads to get an idea about each...and see what members are saying about it.....and start flashing away.
And soon a moderator will close this thread.....and tell you the same thing. Just a heads up.

first of all hello to the best Team in the world and happy new year
i am new to andriod and i have a galaxy note 2 N7100 and i heard that rooting the phone gives more advanced options i got the toolkit from your adorable web site and rooted my phone but because am beginner i want to upgrade my phone to 4.3 or 4.4 but i don't know know to do it . i only can deal with videos and pics guides that's why i liked the tool kit and rooted my phone so please can any one help me with details ( pic's or videos ) how can i upgrade my jelly bean to 4.3 or 4.4 ? or even is it better to stay on 4.1.2 or to upgrade ?
Thanks alot guys and waiting for reply
Whatever u do, don't upgrade to 4.3 by official updates because you will lose warranty. If you want to keep it clean then this is what u need to do:
1. Install custom recovery ( I recommend. Philz's)
2. Flash Mj5 bootloader ( very important so you can keep your warranty)
3. Now you can do whatever u like. Flash custom roms etc.
I know it's not much explained but I'm sure someone who's got more time will explain better. This is just quick guide so you can stay safe.

i already lost the warranty after makeing a custom rom for the 1st time
i already lost the warranty after makeing a custom rom for the 1st time now after losing the warranty i cant upgrade the official update it says that your phone is modified and software updates are not available so i want to update manually by a custom rom
You only lose warranty if they can proof that you modified your mobile. If you have not used official 4.3 update then it's easy to restore your phone to stock with out any trace of previous modifications. Install custom recovery which is designed for installation of custom roms. Read this forum and you will find all the answers. Remember don't use official 4.3 updates for now until your knowledge is a little bigger. Regards

I would go for 4.3. 4.4 is not stable enough for everyday use, and 4.1.2 is slower than 4.3. Find some ROM with Note 3 pack, you will have more options and features and they're pretty bug free.
If your new to android have a read of some of Dr ketan's guides. They are very helpful and noob friendly. You won't go far wrong if you follow his advice

P. S pac man rom is awesome, but just been on custom roms for a while now and want basic stock back...
Also is rooting an issue with stock kitkat of samsung? Coz if it is, then i might think twice, tho as far as I've read its only the knox counter tripping and i dont care about that
